Laura Blanche Lee Witt

Laura “Blanche” Lee Witt, 76, of Cleveland, died Friday evening, Nov. 12, 1999, at her home.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Harmony Chapter of O.E.S. No. 143.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Sylvester Lee Sr. and Johnnie Mae Bradshaw Lee; her husband, John “Jay” C. Witt Sr.; one sister, Helen Pruitt; and one infant son, Thomas Sylvester Witt.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Robinson and James L. Robinson of Cleveland; one son, John C. Witt Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Michelle Witt Rymer and her husband Ray Rymer of Cleveland; Rebecca Witt Werdal and her husband Kent Werdal of Acme, Wash.; two great-granddaughters, Mikayla Marie Werdal and Shelby Lea Rose; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Geneva Lee of Ooltewah and L.S. and Rossie Lee of Niota; five sisters, Ruth Hamilton, Martha Turner, Joan Wallace and Jane Lee, all of Athens, and Sue Hamrick and her husband Lawrence Hamrick of Hixson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church with Dr. Scott Rollins officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service.
Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with nephews David Wallace, Dale Wallace, Chris Wallace, Tom Hamilton, Jerry Morgan, Eric Lee, Mark Lee and Mike Hamrick serving as pallbearers.
The family received friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 3925 N. Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312.

Travis Darwood Townley

Travis Darwood Townley, 80, of Douglasville, Ga., died Sunday evening, Nov. 14, 1999, at a Douglasville nursing home.
A native of Alabama, he was a former resident of Wyandotte, Mich., and a resident of Etowah for 25 years. He had resided in Douglasville, Ga., for the past 10 months. A son of the late Jessie and Maggie Beard Townley, he was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Townley; two sisters, May Johnson and Dee Johnson; three brothers, Bill, Odell and Codie Townley; and one granddaughter, Jeannie Townley.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Kittle Townley of Douglasville, Ga.; two daughters, Mary Cornett of Athens and Delores Hopson of Douglasville, Ga.; two sons, Raymond Townley of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Raford Townley of Wyandotte, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, Lorie Bryan, Donna Robinson, Kaye Sullivan, Faye Wells, Rene Townley, Ilean Khone, Kimberly Spees, Donnie Allen Hopson Jr., Cindy Lillie, Travis Townley Jr., Marty Townley, Melissa Townley, Michael Scabo and Christy Wells; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie Wood of Douglasville, Ga., and Laverne Tittle of Taylor, Mich; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Lester officiating. Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Samuel Junior Bookout

Samuel Junior Bookout, 54, of Englewood, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999.
A native and lifelong resident of Tellico Plains, he had lived in McMinn County for about five years. He had been employed as a mechanic and had retired from Farners Auto Parts. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Bookout; one stepson, Vincent Oliver; and two brothers, Wilford and Tommy Bookout.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Bookout of Englewood; his mother, Ruby Harris Bookout of Tellico; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Troy Johnson of Englewood; three stepdaughters and one son-in-law, Tammy Bennett of Madisonville, Rosetta Kennedy of Englewood and Anjannet and Curtis Meadows of Tunnell Hill, Ga.; one stepson, Billy C. and Maryanne Oliver of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Halie Bookout and Summer Johnson; 14 stepgrandchildren, Dylan Kirkland, Kodi Mason, Michael, Billy Jr. and Juanita Oliver, Christine Fairbanks, Debbie, D.J. and Billy Jean Kennedy, Lateasha and Dea Roach, Vincent, Vanessa and Ellatabathia Oliver; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Leon Bookout, David and Donna Bookout and Danny and Susie Bookout, all of Tellico Plains; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Louise and Roger McIntuff, Bernice Jones and Edna Winkler, all of Tellico Plains; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Watson officiating. Burial followed in New Bethel Cemetery.
The body was in state from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Aline Williams Shelton, 62, of Athens, passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Life Care Center of Athens.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maudie Hill; her father, Robert Raper; one son, Johnny Williams; and one grandson, David Shelton.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Shelton of Riceville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Janie and Jimmy Collins of Lenoir City, Nelda Bixby, Teresa and Eddie Womac of Ten Mile and Anna Smalling of Athens; one son, Danny Ray Shelton of Albany, Ga., her grandchildren, Alma Burnette and Candice Bixby, Danny Ray Shelton Jr., Demoir Shelton, Travis Fritts and Eric Sisson.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Riceville Cemetery with the Rev. Lawrence Walder officiating.

Jonathan J.W. Lethco, 19, of Madisonville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A native and lifelong resident of Monroe County, he had attended Sequoyah High School and was an employee of American Steel. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his parents, Tony and Connie McCullouch of Madisonville; one brother, Joshua Dewayne Brooks of Arkansas; maternal grandparents, Fred and Jean Lethco of Madisonville; paternal grandparents, John and Peggy McCullouch of Madisonville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery.

Rance Whitted, 83, of Decatur, passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 1999.
A native and lifelong resident of Meigs County, he was a retired farmer. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Steve and Caldonia Watson Whitted; three sons, Bobby, Tommy and Bill Whitted; and three brothers, Kim, Andy and Mollis Whitted.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Oma Lee Daniels Whitted of Decatur; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Virgie and Mack Newman, Betty Sue Abernathy, Joyce and Charles Renfro, all of Decatur, and Helen and Donald Hyatt of Cartersville, Ga.; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Alonzo and Mary Joan Whitted of New Port Richey, Fla., Manuel and Rose Mary Whitted, William Rance and Linda Whitted and Arnold Whitted, all of Decatur; one brother and sister-in-law, Jess and Rena Whitted of Niota; one sister, Molly McKenzie of Decatur; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Torbett and the Rev. W.H. Ferguson Jr. officiating. Burial was in Hornsby Hollow Cemetery.

Paul Douglas Inman, 91, of Spring City, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at his daughter’s residence.
He was a member of the Chilhowee Rod and Gun Club, a former member of the U.S. Power Squadron, the NRA and the American Power Boat Association.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sarah Inman; his first wife, Beulah Inman; his second wife, Virginia Inman; his third wife, Pauline Inman; two brothers, Bill and Virgil Inman; and two sisters, Clara and Mary Inman.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Daisy Inman of Spring City, Stan and Donna Inman of Ten Mile and Edward Inman of Sheffield, Ill.; one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Rocky Keeton of Ten Mile; three brothers, Lyle Inman of Itasca, Ill, Lloyd Inman of Winter Haven, Fla. and Floyd Inman of Algonuen, Iowa; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Kemper officiating.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta, Ill.

Eva Curtis Payne

Eva Curtis Payne, 76, of Crossville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999.
Born Sept. 21, 1923 in Tellico Plains, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Sarah Thomas Curtis. A retired housekeeper for Peachford Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., she had lived in Crossville for 12 years and was a member of Homestead Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Judge Payne of Crossville; one daughter, Sandra Thompson of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Martin and Louise Curtis, both of Tellico Plains; one brother, Kenneth Curtis of Tellico Plains; and two granddaughters, Maegen and Morgan Thompson.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Wednesday at Homestead Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Haskins officiating.
Pallbearers were Hoyt Evans, Bruce Howard, Willis Lewis, Joel Green, Johnny Inman and Joe Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials be sent to Hospice of Cumberland County, P.O. Box 542, Crossville, TN 38557.

Edward George Schutheis

Edward George Schultheis, 80, of McMinn County, passed away Monday night, Feb. 28, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Richmond, Va., and former resident of Miami Springs, Fla., he was a resident of McMinn County for the past 20 years. The son of the late Edward George and Edna McQuinne Schultheis Sr., he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy S. Stevens. He was associated with Eastern Airlines as a lead mechanic until his retirement and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadette Gagane Schultheis of McMinn County; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Joanne Schultheis and Mark and Janet Schultheis, all of Ocala, Fla.; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Priscille and Bill Stuckey of Athens; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Lessard of Vincentown, N.J., and Andre and Anne Lessard of Medford, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with Father Joseph Fiedorowicz officiating.
