Earl E. Lee, 84, of Englewood, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Woods Memorial Hospital.
A member of Chestua Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by one son, Glen Lee; and one daughter-in-law, Joyce Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Esta Owenby Lee; one daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Dan Saffles of Athens; one son, Doug Lee of Montgomery, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Biereley-Hale Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Caldwell, the Rev. John Smith and the Rev. Jason Sweeten officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in Chestua Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sam Junior Fairbanks
Died: 03/01/2000
Sam Junior Fairbanks, 65, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of Meigs County, he was a son of the late John Franklin and Lucinda McKeehan Fairbanks and was preceded in death by two children, Annie Fairbanks and Ricky Fairbanks; and one grandchild, Cassie Fairbanks.
He was an employee of the Meigs County School System for 22 years and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Shelton Fairbanks of Decatur; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindi and John Boyd of Decatur and Karen and Jerry Denton of Madisonville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Sammy and Teresa Fairbanks, Charles F. Fairbanks, Don and Anita Fairbanks and Jackie and Donna Fairbanks, all of Decatur; 19 grandchildren; two sisters, Marie McDonald of Athens and Ethel Harris of Decatur; two brothers, Franklin Fairbanks of Decatur and Howard Fairbanks of Etowah; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Amanda Jo Bryan
Died: 03/02/2000
Amanda Jo Bryan, 16, of Loudon, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A native of Knoxville and resident of Loudon, she was a former resident of Etowah. A sophomore at Loudon High School, she was preceded in death by her mother, Tenia Malone, paternal grandmother, Wanda Bryan; maternal grandmother, Jo Malone; and maternal grandfather, Gene Malone.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Ricky C. and Tammy Bryan of Etowah; a half brother, Matthew Propst of West Virginia; paternal grandfather, Richard Bryan of Etowah; her guardians, Roger and Carol Ann Malone of Loudon; and three uncles, Jerry, Carl and Mike Bryan, all of Etowah.
Family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m. Sunday in Green Hill Cemetery for graveside services with the Rev. R.B. Bryan officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Bordwine Funeral Home.

Charles Larry "Little Sarg" Sargeant

Charles Larry “Little Sarg” Sargeant, 51, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 2, 2000.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a member of the Baptist church and the Extreme Ridgerunners 4x4 Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Oliver Sargeant of Athens; one son, Wayne Sargeant of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Scott Dennis of Athens; two grandchildren, Kevin Hudson and Casey Hudson; his parents, Charles and Verlene Arnold Sargeant of Athens; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Reed Dailey of Athens; a special friend, Cotton Womac; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Bradford officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Don R. Wilson, 61, of Athens, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was an active member of Goodsprings Baptist Church. A son of the late Howard and Nell Schrader Wilson, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Pearl Daugherty Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Holder Wilson of Athens; three brothers, Robert Wilson and Steve Wilson, both of Athens, and Jerry Wilson of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Goodsprings Baptist Church with the Rev. Arnold King and the Rev. Arliss Slack officiating. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.

Rose Marie "Posey" Moses

Rose Marie “Posey” Moses, 81, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville.
A native and resident of McMinn County for most of her life and a former resident of Tampa, Fla., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Graves Payne. She was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of God.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Chester M. Moses of Etowah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Lloyd Bowers of Athens and Eleanor and Chuck Heugel of Tampa, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, Chester Ray and Betty Moses of Etowah; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Deleanor Carroll and Juanita Williams, both of Athens and Alma Jackson of Maryville; one brother, Frank Lee Payne of Athens; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and other relatives.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Fritts, Dr. Chris Thomas and the Rev. Corky Alexander officiating. Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Monty Larson, David Moses, Daniel Moses, Ronny Davis, Johnny Lipps, Michael Wood, Jerry Stephens and Coy Sharp.
