W.D. "Bill" Slaybaugh, Jr., 74, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Borger. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Rev. John Dorn, pastor and missionary Steve Cook, both officiating. Interment will be in "Eastlawn Garden" at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Survivors include his wife, Jo Slaybaugh of the home; two sons, Jim Slaybaugh and wife, Marilyn of Las Vegas, Nev., Jerry Slaybaugh and wife, Jill, of Borger; a daughter, Judy Forrester and husband, George of Borger; two brothers, Don Slaybaugh of Pampa and George Slaybaugh of Borger; two sisters, Val Park of Douglas, Wy. and Nancy Waldrep of Borger; a brother-in-law, J.C. Woody of Borger; 12 grandchildren, Amy Brown, Joel Brown, Jessica Thompson, Christen Gillman, Jamie Slaybaugh, Brandon Slaybaugh, J.D. Slaybaugh, Brandi Knowlton, Dustin Knowlton, Colby Forrester and Holly Moran and eight great-grandchildren.

"J.D." James Irvin Scroggins, 23, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in "The Garden of Love" at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Survivors include his parents, Rick and Sherry Blevins of Borger; a step-brother, Rickie Lynn Blevins, Jr. of Sanford; a sister, JoAnna Scroggins of Oklahoma City; one step-sister, Sabrina Waugh of Borger; his grandfather, "Little Pa" Willian Irvin Marsh of Borger; and his grandmother, Verna Scroggins of Borger.

Rufus R. Platt, 82, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital in Amarillo.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Sizemore, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery with arrangments entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Carole and her husband, Larry Marburger of Yukon, Okla.; two sons, Kenneth Platt of Paramount, Calif., and Charles Platt and his wife, Janet of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Tommy Platt of Houston; two sisters, Louise Sarter of Roger and Dollie Lee of Kingston; seven grandchildren including Branson Marburger of Borger, Shandon Marburger, Tiana Loy and Ethan Marburger, all of Yukon, Okla.

Betty Jo "Durrett" McGregor
PANHANDLE – Betty Jo "Durrett" McGregor, 74, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Amarillo.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Panhandle with Rev. Bob Parker, Interim Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Survivors include her husband, William McGregor of the home; a son, Wynn McGregor of Grapevine; one daughter, Melinda Demery of Grapevine; one sister, Marie Braboy of Amarillo; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sarah Hilker
Sarah Hilker, 70, died Friday, March 29, 2002, in Borger. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Highland Park Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Survivors include her husband, Edwin; two sons, John Shaffer of Liberty and Jack Shaffer of Morgan; one brother, Royce Beasley of Carthage, Mo.; one sister, Janice O’Neal of San Angelo; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Don Haddock
PAMPA – Don Haddock, 73, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Pampa. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of the Briarwood Full Gospel Church, officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Survivors include his wife, Georgia "Jo" Haddock of the home; three sons, Kenneth Haddock of Oklahoma City, Okla., Michael Haddock of El Reno, Okla., and Greg Haddock of Pampa; two daughters, Patti Greathouse of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., and Angela Darling of Ft. Smith, Ark.; one brother, Raymond Earl Haddock of Saudi Arabia; one sister, Mildred Louise Blake of Canyon; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Nicholas Ryan "Nick" Hopkins
PAMPA – Nicholas Ryan "Nick" Hopkins, 17, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Pampa. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Survivors include his mother, Rene Hopkins of Borger; one brother, Tristyn Hopkins of Borger; maternal grandmother, Carolyn "Nana" Hopkins of Pampa; maternal great-grandmother, Farstean Powell of Borger and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Association or a favorite charity.
The family will be at 709 Whittenburg in Borger.

Betty Jo "Durrett" McGregor
PANHANDLE – Betty Jo "Durrett" McGregor, 74, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Amarillo.
Services are pending with Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Survivors include her husband, William McGregor of the home; a son, Wynn McGregor of Grapevine; one daughter, Melinda Demery of Grapevine; one sister, Marie Braboy of Amarillo; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dixie Lewis
Dixie Lewis, 58, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Baptist St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor, officiating. Burial was private, entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Survivors include her husband, Don Lewis; three sons, Dan Lewis of Lubbock, Doug Lewis of Clinton, Okla., and Duane Lewis of Forney; four brothers, Eugene Stamper, Jack Stamper, Ben Stamper and Gary Stamper; four sisters, Betty Consoliver, Colene Davis, Pauline Smith and Linda Sweany; and seven grandchildren.

Beatrice Mae Dupler
PANHANDLE – Beatrice Mae Dupler, 80, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Panhandle. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Panhandle with Rev. Paul Carter, pastor of First Baptist Church in Old Ocean, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cache Cemetery in Cache, Okla., with Rev. John Webb, pastor of Cache Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Survivors include her son, Lester Dupler of Sweeny; a daughter, Elizabeth Smith of Panhandle; two brothers, Bill Mann of Abilene and Cecil Mann of Breckenridge; two sisters, Priscilla Bowman and Louise Gilberg, both of Modesta, Calif.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

TWILA E. SHIRLEY
STINNETT – Twlia E. Shirley, 84, dies Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, in BSA Hospice in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Stinnett United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen W. Gaines, pastor, officiating. Burial will be entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by a son, Eugene Shirley of Stinnett; a sister, Alma Lee Quarles of Citrus Heights, Calif.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

LOIS NORMAN
Lois Norman, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in BSA Hospice in Amarillo. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Brown’s Chapel of the Fountains with Rev. Philip Hilton, paster of Sunray Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors in Highland Park Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Englund of Amarillo; a brother, Eugene Connelly of Achille, Okla.; four sisters, Mabell Barbee of Plainview, Marie Mapp of Achille, Okla., Camilee Coon of Monroe, Wash., and Norma Wells of Hendrix, Okla.; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

JOHNNY DELGADO HOLGUIN
Johnny Delgado Holguin, stillborn infant, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, in Borger. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Babyland at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Msgr. Norbert Keuhler officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger at Westlawn Cemetery. Survivors include his father, Frank Holguin of Borger, and his mother, Yvonne Delgado of Borger; a brother, Michael Delgado of Borger; a sister, Marlin Delgado of Borger; his grandmother, Petra Delgado of El Paso; and his grandparents, Raul and Hilda Holguin of Borger.

ESIDRO DeLUNA
STINNETT – Esidro DeLuna Sr., 53, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. Services are pending with Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. He is survived by his wife, Lupe, of the home; four sons, Esidro DeLuna Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., Gabriel DeLuna of Joplin, Mo., Pete DeLuna of Stinnett, and Sammy DeLuna of Borger; two daughters, Cynathia Vasquez of Dumas and Rachel Montoya of Borger; one brother, Raymond DeLuna Jr.; three sisters, Susie Guzman of Craigsville, Ind., and Hope Contraez and Connie Contraez, both of Stinnett; and eight grandchildren.

MERLE H. BLAKELY
Merle H. Blakely, 72, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, in BSA Hospice in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bunavista Baptist Church with Rev. David Langen officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Merle Gene Blakely of Borger and Gary Blakely of Fritch; a daughter, Trinette Scott of Leander; a brother, Howard Blakely of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Florine Blakemore of McKinney and Mozzelle Biggers of Madill, Okla.; and 12 grandchildren.

Wilma Tarr
Wilma Tarr, 102, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, in Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital in Amarillo. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Ponca City, Okla., with Father Kenneth Armstrong, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Ponca City, Okla., officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Survivors include five daughters, Eithol Dickison of Borger, Aline Lamb of Tulsa, Okla., Isabell Wells of Paden, Okla., Fern Bryant of Ponca City, Okla., and Metta Moore of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, Hiram McDaniels and Ollie McDaniels, both of Illinois; 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Robert L. Tarbet
GRANDBURY – Robert L. Tarbet, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, in a Ft. Worth hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the Charismatic Episcopal Church in Grandbury under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jean F. Tarbet of Granbury; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Larry Sheffield of Granbury; grandson, Ashton Lee Tarbet Sheffield (his pride and joy): mother-in-law, Nora Freudiger of Granbury; and bother-in-law and wife, Ron and Darlene Freudiger of Norman, Okla.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Roderick L. "Rod" Pearson, 20, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001. Services will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, Nov. 24, at Faith Apostolic Church in Birmingham, Ala., with Bishop Heron Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Zion Memorial Gardens with Bushelon Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his parents, Lolando and Yolanda Pearson of Kansas City, Mo.; father, Roderick E. Core of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Ciara Pearson of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Adonis Core of Birmingham, Ala.; grandparents, Joe C. and Bernice Cooper of Birmingham, Ala., Rosetta F. Pearson of Birmingham, Ala., great-grandmother, Dorothy Jackson of Birmingham, Ala.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Bobbye Morris Maynard
Bobbye Morris Maynard, 75, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, in Spearman. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 1, 2001, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Borger. Cremation is under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors in Spearman.
