Victor Christopher Romero
Victor Christopher Romero of Arlington died Oct. 15 at Arlington Memorial Hospital of spinal cancer. He was 28. Born in Asunción, Paraguay Oct. 12, 1969, Mr. Romero was a 1988 graduate of Arlington High School. He earned an associate of arts degree from Tarrant County Junior College in 1993 before studying music at the University of Texas at Arlington until illness forced him to leave the school in 1994. He was a member of the D/FW Church of Christ. Mr. Romero is survived by his mother, Judith Waesche Romero; father Victor Romero of Paraguay; a grandfather; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and half-siblings. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at North Davis Church of Christ, 1601 N. Davis St., Arlington. Memorials may be made to the United Cancer Fund.
Alvie E. Scott
Alvie E. Scott of Irving died Oct. 16. He was 77. Born in Madill, Okla. Jan. 25, 1920, Mr. Scott worked as a water engineer for the city of Irving. He was a veteran of the U.S. armed forces with service in WWII. Captured three days after the invasion of Normandy, Mr. Scott was a prisoner of war and evetually liberated by Russian forces in Dresden, Germany. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Scott; daughters and sons-in-law Shirley Padgett of Chandler, Barbara and George Hicks of Irving, Rita and Skip Marham of Cookeville, Tenn.; sister Elvie Holcomb of Hansen, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Services were held Oct. 18 at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Kenny Robison officiating. Interment

James R. Persons
James R. Persons of Irving died Oct. 10 at his home of natural causes. He was 79. Born in Kemper County, Miss. April 2, 1918, Mr. Persons retired in 1980 after 22 years as a service representative with Allis-Chalmers in Dallas. He was a veteran of the U.S. armed forces. Mr. Persons is survived by his stepson Emmett Patton and his wife Marlene of Georgia, a grandaughter and great grandson, both of Georgia. Jae Won Yu
Jae Won Yu of Euless died of natural causes at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth Oct. 15. He was 63. Born Nov. 7, 1933 in South Korea, was a self-employed baker with Southern Maid Donuts. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Yu is survived by his wife of 40 years, Im-Sun Yu; sons John-Chul Yu, Jong-Il Yu; daughters Jong-Sook Yu, Jong-Soon Yu, Jong-Ilee Yu; sister Tea-Soon Yu; and seven grandchildren. Gladys Anderson
Gladys Anderson of Irving died Oct. 21 at Irving Hospital of natural causes. She was 81. Born in Green Bay, Wis. Jan. 24, 1916, Mrs. Anderson retired in 1979 after 21 years as a service representative for Wisconsin Gas and Light in Milwaukee. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Irving and a volunteer at Irving Community Hospital for 15 years. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Eric Stammberger of Irving; sons and daughters-in-law Roger and Cristie Anderson of Mill Valley, Calif., Don and Tina Anderson of Milwaukee; sister Elaine O'Connor of North Carolina; one sister-in-law; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Cephas Everett Davis, formerly of Irving, died Oct. 21. He was 71. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Mr. Davis retired from Owens Corning in 1992. Emily Sue Lobb Parker, a former resident of Irving, died Oct. 16. She was 92. Born March 5, 1905 in Dealy, Mrs. Parker lived in Irving for 11 years before moving to Webster in 1993. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, W. Harold (Jack) and Janice Lobb of Irving; Dr. Charles E. and Frances Lobb of Galveston; daughter and son-in-law Donna S. and Bill Culver of Escondido, Calif.; one sister; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. B. Yolanda Solis Rojas of Grand Prairie died of natural causes in Cancun, Mex. Oct. 20. She was 74. Born in Progreso, Yucatan, Mex. July 1, 1923, Mrs. Rojas was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grand Prairie. She is survived by her husband Fernando Rojas; sons Fernando, Luis, Manuel and Francisco Rojas; daughters Yolanda, Guadalupe, Isabel and Carmen; 18 grandchildren; one great grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. James Frederick Rogers of Irving died Oct. 16 in Dallas. He was 50. Born March 20, 1947 in Grand Rapids, Mich., Mr. Rogers was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, with service from 1967 to 1970. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Rogers of Irving; mother Mae Rogers; daughter Jamie Roger of Newaygo, Mich.; sons James Rogers of Irving, Anthony Rogers of Morley, Mich.; and five grandchildren, including Michelle and James Rogers of Irving. Anthony W. "Tony" Curtis of Irving died Oct. 22 in Austin. He was 24. Born Nov. 28, 1972 in Kansas City, Mo., Mr. Curtis was a student and a member of Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, Irving. He was a 1991 graduate of MacArthur High School, where he was a member of the academic decathalon team. He was a National Merit Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. Arnold Jean Weir of Irving died Oct. 21 at Irving Hospital of natural causes. He was 74. Born in Eddy, Aug. 14, 1923, Mr. Weir retired in 1986 after 36 years as a traffic principal for Navistar International Transportation Corp. in Irving. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Irving, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a graduate of North Texas University. Mr. Weir is survived by his wife, Carolyn L.
