Connie Foley Ashmore Jr.
Connie Foley Ashmore, Jr. of Irving died Aug. 31 in Irving. He was 70. Born Feb. 8, 1927, Mr. Ashmore was a machinist for LTV and the past president of the Emergency Corps. Mr. Ashmore is survived by his wife, Genevive Ashmore, and his daughters and sons-in-law Gail and Stan Rokusek of Grand Prairie, Alyce and Marvin Peruski of Plano, and Shirley Ann and Mike Bonner of Grand Prairie, as well as his sister, Billie Jo Titus of Wabash, In, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one aunt, two nephews, one niece and several cousins. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. yesterday at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, Ok., Rev. Jerry Wells officiating. Interment

Alva Harris Bell
Alva Harris Bell, 85, of Melissa died recently. Born Oct. 3, 1911, in Melissa, he was a civil-service worker and a lifelong resident of Melissa, where he was a deacon and trustee of the First Christian Church. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he also was a past worshipful master and longstanding member of Masonic Lodge #569 of Melissa. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reba Swanner Bell and a granddaughter, Angi Holland Richards. Survivors include his wife, Irene Bell of Melissa; his children, Pat and Tommy Holland of Baird, Michael and Karen Bell of Clyde, and Monty and Charlotte Bell of McKinney; his brothers, Glenn Bell of McKinney and Noel Bell of Cleburne; his sister, Ruth Swanner of Irving; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 in the First Christian Church in Melissa with the Rev. Jan Sullivan and Carlos Carter officiating. Burial is in Stoney Point Cemetery in Melissa.
Milber L. Bonilla
Milber L. Bonilla, 17, of Irving died recently. Born Dec. 7, 1979, he was a cashier. Survivors include his mother, Rosa Bonilla; his brother, Melix Bonilla; and his sisters, Melissa Bonilla and Evelyn Bonilla. Services were conducted on Aug. 28 at Calvary Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eliseo Mejia officiating.
Jerald D. Cavanaugh
Jerald D. Cavanaugh formerly of Irving, died Aug. 30. He was 64. Born Aug. 1, 1933 in Pontiac, Ill., Mr. Cavanaugh retired in 1991 at the academic dean at Parker Chiropractic in Irving. He also served as academic dean at Crowder College in Neosho, Mo. He is survived by his brother, Jim Cavanaugh of Grove, Okla. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Sept. 4, at Pontiac Southside Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Fred Henry Esch
Fred Henry Esch of Irving died Aug. 31 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Dallas. He was 77. Born Oct. 15, 1919 in Kerens, Mr. Esch was a welder for Glitsch Steel and a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church. Mr. Esch is survived by his wife, Juanita Esch, daughter, Debbie Avants of North Dakota, sons Freddie Esch of Sands Springs, Ok., Michael Esch of North Dakota, and Marrion Esch of North Dakota, sisters Effie Esch of Grapevine, Fannie Grizzle of Dallas, Dorothy Robison of Dallas, and Alice Rosenberg of Great Bend, Ks, brothers, Richard Esch of Dallas, Raymond Esch of Longview, and Walter Esch of Alpine, step-daughters Pat Heinsius of DeSoto and Peggy Hallmark of Houston, step-sons Floyd Summers of Garland and Frank Summers of Carrollton, eight grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marrlene Mize of Irving died in Irving Aug. 3. She was 72. Born April 22, 1925, in Lubbock Mrs. Mize was a retired electrical inspector. Mrs. Mize is survived by her daughter, Sherrie English of Dallas, and two sons, Mike Mize and Gordon Mize of Irving, as well as four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Wilma Jean Padilla
Wilma Jean Padilla of Irving died of natural causes Aug. 31. She was 46. Born Dec. 18, 1950 in Sulphur Springs, Mrs. Padilla was a homemaker and member of Hilltop Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Manuel Padilla of Irving; daughter, Tina Padilla of Irving; brothers, Curtis Simpson and David Simpson of Irving; sister Ginger Everett of Atlanta; and parents, Lev and Delpha Simpson of Irving. Services were held Sept. 2 at Hilltop Baptist Church, the Rev. Paul Cheatam officiating. Interment

Louis Richard Palmer
Louis Richard Palmer, 74, a longtime resident of Irving, died Aug. 24 at Ashford Hall Nursing Home. Born Aug. 7, 1923, in Lloyd, N.Y., Palmer was a retired aeronautical engineer who help found Southwest Airlines as director of maintenance and engineering. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he also was employed at Chance Vought, Braniff Airways, Cooper Automotive and Aviall in management. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis H. and Hazel Palmer, and his by two sons, Richard A. Palmer and Steven C. Palmer. Survivors include his son, Eric Palmer of San Angelo; his stepson, Joe David Gist of Beaver Falls, Pa., and give grandchildren. Services were conducted on Aug. 30 at Chism-Smith Funeral Home Chape with the Rev. Clyde T. Boyd officiating. Burial is in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Larry Michael Reed of Irving died Aug. 31. He was 54. Born April 3, 1943 in Dallas, Mr. Reed was a former limousine driver. He is survived by his wife, Dyanna Reed of Irving; step-son, Martin Warren of Irving; father, Odie Reed and wife, Millie of Garland; mother, Billye Kenny, and husband, Ray of Rockwall; sister, Carol Steele; half-sisters, Alyce Green and Debbie Thurman; step-brothers, Kelly McCoy, Kevin McCoy, Robert Fincannon and Barry Fincannon; and half-brothers, Patrick Reed and Steven Reed. Services were held Sept. 3 at Donnelly's Colonial Chapel, the Rev. Marshall Johnson officiating. Interment

Winnie K. Winchester
Winnie K. Winchester died Sept. 2 in Irving. She was 76. Born Nov. 1, 1920, Mrs. Winchester is survived by her brother, Odell Taylor, and four sisters, Elsie Booth, Fay Tittsworth, Marie Kimbrough and Imogene Gatewood, and her son, Mickey Winchester. Memorial services are scheduled today at 10 a.m.to be held at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. last night at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas.
