Tennis Club to Hold Another Treasure Hunt Friday of This Week
The tennis club will hold its second treasure hunt on Friday night of this week. The previous treasure hunt was held several weeks ago and about 100 persons took part in the chase. The winners of this hunt were Miss Mildred Droege and Hollis Hart. They received a prize of $S0. A treasure hunt was held last week under the direction of Raymond Clark and it was won by Elisha Camp and Horace Moody.
A large attendance and a fine program marked the annual musicale at the Methodist church, Sunday night.
Those who took part were Mrs. Howard Micklin and Miss Dorothy Putnam sopranos, Mrs. Merry Harne contralto, A. Hye Sorenson baritone, Howard Micklin violinist and Mrs. Robert Stokes organist.
Mr. and Mrs. John R. Snedeker, who left in the spring on an automobile trip to the Pacific coast, are homeward bound. They followed a route through the Southern part of the country on their way to the coast and are making their return trip in the northern part. They expect to be here the last of October.
Miss Helen Mawry has been spending a few days with Mrs. Philip Dinkelberg.
Mr. and Mrs. McCann of Riverside drive, New York, former summer residents of this place, have bought a home at Forest Hills, Long Island, which they will make their permanent residence October 1st.
Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Magee have been spending a few days at Atlantic City.
A party was given a few nights ago for Edmund Hartcorn in celebration of his 21st birthday.
The public school reopened yesterday. The new teachers engaged and the subjects they will teach are Miss Gladys Imlay music, Miss Elizabeth Kahler manual training and Ottilie Fleischmann Latin and French.
The first meeting of the fall season of the Presbyterian ladies' aid society was held yesterday at the home of Mrs. Gordon Jones.
The 38th birthday of Hugh Gregerson, one of the mail carriers, was celebrated last week with a party.

Movies of Ederle Celebration
A party of Highlands residents and friends enjoyed a clambake last week at Sandy Hook. The trip was made in Thomas Sperling's yacht Ethel. In the party were Mr. and Mrs. William Killaren, Mr. and Mrs. William Doesrick, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meinche, Mrs. Johum, Miss Cora Bailey, Mrs. Emma Hooper, Miss Clara Hooper, Frank Hooper, A. Conlon, J. Casey, Miss Edith Morgan, W. Webb, J. Reilly, Edwin McGrath, Mr. Walsh, Miss Molly A. Engle, James Gibbons, Mr. and Mrs. William Church, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey, George Petzel, Mrs. Rose Heiney, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Engleman, Kitty and Frank Heiney and Mrs. M. Drum.
Motion pictures of the welcome home celebration for Gertrude Ederle at this place last week were shown Saturday and Monday; at the Auditorium theater.
August Quast has rented one of his bungalows to Mrs. Reiner and Mrs. Brady of New York.
One hundred members of the women's Democratic club of Glendale, Long Island, spent last Thursday at Highlands. A dinner at the Shrewsbury cottage was a feature of the day's outing.
Mrs. Jennie Parker of Fourth street is laid up with a broken arm. She was injured last week when she fell ever a basket in her garden. Mrs. Parker spends considerable time in her garden, which has been admired by many persons.
The Trailers' card club will meet tomorrow night and Mrs. M. Moran will be the hostess.
John White has bought a new Overland sedan.
The public school re-opened today.
Mrs. Earl Smith of Miller street gave birth to a daughter last week at the Long Branch hospital.
Douglas Dray of Virginla is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fehlhaber.
