Wallace Ray McGuire
Wallace Ray McGuire of Irving died Aug. 19. He was 69.
He was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Arkadelphia, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Ethelyn McGuire of Irving; son, Jeffrey and his wife, Gregoria McGuire of Irving; daughter, Stacy and her husband, Duane Keese of McDade; sister, Emma Jane Davis of El Dorado, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Taylor, Giovanni, Mariano, and Lyndarosa.
Services were held Aug. 21, at Plymouth Park Methodist Church in Irving with Rev. Dan Hoke officiating. Burial followed at Caddo Valley Cemetery in Arkadelphia.

Belen Josephine Gonzales
Belen Josephine Gonzales of Irving died Aug. 18 in Fort Worth. She was 34.
She was born June 27, 1964, in Chicago.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Oscar and Jeannia Gonzales of Irving; mother and stepfather, Carmen and Manuel Torres of Irving; children, Vanessa Gonzales, Valorie Gonzales and Jon Gonzales, all of Irving; sisters, Liza Guerra, Leatriz Gonzales, and Chelsea Gonzales, all of Irving; brothers, Oscar Gonzales Jr. and Anthony Gonzales, both of Irving. Also survived by Johnny Gonzales of Grand Prairie.
Services were scheduled for Aug. 22 Brown's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
John Pierre Chalfant
John Pierre Chalfant died Aug 20 at his Irving home. He was 42.
He was born April 15, 1956, the son of Pierre and Joyce Chalfant.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Reno Chalfant of Irving; children, Leah and Michael, both of Irving; parents; sisters, Leanne Smiciklas of Irving, Rachel Rodriguez of San Antonio, and Julie Cohagan of Irving and numerous other family members.
Services were hel Aug. 22 at First United Methodist Church of Irving with Rev. Mike Walker officiating.
Edward Martin Wurth
Edward Martin Wurth, formerly of Irving, died Aug. 19 at a Greenville hospital. He was 74.
Born July 16, 1925, in McCracken County, Paducah, Ken., the son of Ivo Joseph and Mary (Hobbs) Wurth, he was a U.S. letter carrier. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II and a member of the St. Williams Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW of Greenville and the National Association of Magicians.
He married Billie Baldree Aug. 13, 1946, in Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, one sister and a daughter.
He is survived by his wife of Greenville; daughters, Cindy Ware of Greenville, and Jacqueline Kennedy of Dallas; brother, Ivo Wurth Jr. of Paducah; sisters, Elizabeth Harris of Lewisville, Ken., and Barbar Felts of Paducah; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 21 in Greenville.
Vera Staggs Gross
Vera Staggs (Mimi) Gross of Irving died Aug. 18. She was 88.
Born May 3, 1910, in Tulip, Ark., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Staggs, she was a resident of Irving since July 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Robert Gross in 1968; parents; and brothers, James and Raymond Staggs.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Staff No. 67, Big Spring for more than 50 years, and Order of Beauceant of Big Spring.
She is survived by daughter Lindel and her husband, Bill Fletcher of Irving; a son, Bobby Jack and his wife, Jean Gross; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, L.M. Staggs of Malvern, Ark, Jack S. Staggs of Huntsville, and Nathaniel R. Staggs of New Braunfels; sisters, Ima Miller of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Mary Guyer of Seminole, Fla., and Henrietta Johnson of Ventura, Calif.
Services were scheduled for Aug. 21 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Branam officiating. Burial was to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Bobby Banning
Bobby Banning of Allen died Aug. 19. He was 64.
Born July 1, 1934, in Holdrege, Neb., the son of James and Myrtle Banning, he was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and was employed with Texas Instruments for 30 years. He retired from Halliburton in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, J.D. and Dwight Banning.
He is survived by his son, David Banning of Colleyville; daughters, Teresa West of Plano, Pamela Goodman of Allen, and Brenda Bond of Allen; 10 grandchildren; and sister, Gloria Mullowney of Sun City, Calif.
Services were scheduled for Aug. 22 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Burial was to follow at Restland Memorial Park.
Alta Fern Grove
Alta Fern Grove of Red Oak died Aug. 18 in Red Oak. She was 70.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara Rodges of Richardson, Sherri Brown of Red Oak, Louanne Knight of Irving and Kelly Rhodes of Irving; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Red Oak Funeral Home in Red Oak with the Rev. Duane Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas.
Louis Edward Nichol
Louis Edward Nichol of Irving died Aug. 19. He was 66.
Born Jan. 8, 1932, in Wood County, he was a security guard for Barton Security. he was also former fire chief of the Waco Bay Fire Department and a radio ham operator.
He is survived by a sons, Gary Nichol of Hobbs, N.M., Ray Nichol of Irving, and Paul Nichol of Hobbs; daughter, Sue Lee of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, George Nichol of Mesquite and Milus Nichol of Rogers.
Services were held Aug. 22 at Chism and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Moore officiating.
Hortense Marie Cobb
Hortense Marie Cobb died Aug. 25 at an Irving nursing home. She was 89.
She was a retired Licensed Vocational Nurse who lived in the Dallas area since 1945. She was Ms. Mature Irving in 1986, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, AARP, Civil Defense, PTA and Girl Scouts.
She began her singing career on radio in 1932, with a daily broadcast in New Orleans. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus in Dallas. She was founder and lead singer for the Brooks Manor Hillbilly Band from 1973 to 1982. She also sang for Irving Opry. She was also in six films.
She is survived by daughters, Kathryn Taylor of Irving and Rachelsara Cludius of Beaumont; and a son, Charles Cludius of Irving.
Cobb donated her body to science.
Services were held Aug. 29 at the Kirkwood United Methodist Church.

Carolyn Rose Rice Parsons
Carolyn Rose Rice Parsons of Irving died Aug. 25 at an Irving hospital. She was 65.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Benton Parsons.
She is survived by sons, Toney Benton Parsons, Harry Parsons and Pat Parsons, all of Grand Prairie; daughters, Rise Lovell of Huntington, W.Va., Bonnie Robinette of Grand Prairie, and Rhonda Parsons of Garland; 11 grandchildren, Jason Schneider, Toney Parsons II, Ronnie Parsons, Charles Porter, Shane Parsons, Michael Parsons, Sonya Robinette, Sara Sims, Champane Sims, Francis Coronel and Monica Coronel.
Services were held Aug. 29 at Old Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was to follow at Joe Thompson Cemetery in Fort Gay, W.Va.
Bynaum Frank Farmer
Bynaum Frank Farmer of Irving died August 27. He was 79.
He was born on May 8, 1919, in Erbie, Arkansas.
He survived by his wife, Violet Farmer of Irving; son, Tom Farmer of Grand Prairie; daughters, Connie Caylor of Irving and Caralyn Barton of Capitan, N.M.; sister, Ruth Scoggins of Lowell, Ark.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Family will be accepting visitors between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday, August 30 at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home.
Services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
