Mrs. Howard
Graveside rites were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery for Mahaley Howard, 90, a former long-time resident of this area who died on her 90th birthday Aug. 17 at Bryan.
The Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Howard was born on Aug. 17, 1909, in Detroit, Tex., the daughter of Jeremiah M. and Elizabeth Scarborough Shelton. She married Gerald Alden Howard in Copeville on Sept. 17, 1927, and was a Baptist and a homemaker. She resided in Bryan at the time of her death.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Wyont of Normangee and Sue Wilkerson and her husband Walt of San Antonio; a son, Gerald Howard and his wife Betty of Fredericksburg, nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Howard was the daughter of a Civil War veteran. Her father served in Company F/C, 22nd Regiment, Georgia Infantry, Confederate States Army, and was appointed to the Regimental Band as a musician. He was paroled at Appamattox Courthouse, Virginia, on April 9, 1865.
Mrs. Lanier
Graveside services were observed at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery for Mrs. Leon Constance Lanier, 94, a long-time resident of Farmersville who died Saturday, Aug. 21, in the home of her daughter, Connie Lanier Wallace, in Mesquite, where she had resided for the past two years.
Officiating at the services was Dr. Roy Zuck of Dallas, father-in-law of Mrs. Lanier’s grandson, Greg Hanes, and a family friend.
The Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lanier was known to her friends and family as "Bush" and was married to the late M. G. (Tiny) Lanier for nearly 60 years.
Mrs. Lanier lived in and around Farmersville most of her life and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in this city. She was born at Snow Hill on July 29, 1905.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Wallace; two grandsons and their wives, Greg and Barb Hanes of West Monroe, La., and Blake and Eva Hanes of Waco; three great grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer and Allison Hanes of West Monroe, La.; two sons-in-law, Sam Hanes and Don Wallace, and a nephew and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tiny Lanier; a daughter, Patsy Hanes; one sister, two brothers and many other family members and friends.
Mrs. Cox
Maurine M. Cox, 78, of Princeton, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the North Central Medical Center at McKinney.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, in the First Baptist Church of Princeton with Dr. Daron Biles officiating. Interment
was in Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend, Oregon.
Mrs. Cox was born on Jan. 22, 1921, in Sulphur Bluff to Newton Lee and Lula Mae Wakefield Mulkey. She married Malcolm Robert Cox in Sulphur Springs on Aug. 26, 1939, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Rollie L. Cox Sr. of Princeton, Malcolm Robert Cox Jr. of Yuma, Ariz., Donald Edward Cox Sr. of Princeton and Jacky Wayne Cox of Fresno, Calif.; nine grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Edna Tallant and Millie Singleton of Princeton.
Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of McKinney was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Moorhead
Tommy Lee Moorehead, 58, of Van Alstyne, died Monday in McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel at McKinney with the Rev. Dan L. Rigdon officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment
will be in Shiloh Cemetery at Kemp.
Mr. Moorehead was born in Kemp on Dec. 31, 1940, the son of William Edward and Ollie Lee Ussary Moorehead. He married Bonnie Sutphin on Dec. 22, 1959, in Pulaski, Va. He served in the Army as a paratrooper.
Surviving are a son, Tommy Lee Moorehead Jr. and his wife Sherri of Van Alstyne; two daughters, Angie Fonville and her husband Donnie of Princeton and Mindy Moorehead of Van Alstyne; five grandchildren, Tommy Lee Moorehead III of Van Alstyne, Anthony Fonville, Donnie Fonville and Melissa Fonville of Princeton and Amanda Moore of Louisiana; his mother-in-law, Rosie Sutphin of Princeton, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie; a son, Chuck Moorehead; a brother, Charles Edward Moorehead, and a sister, Wanda Delamar.
Mrs. Miller
Last rites were to be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church for Irma Emily Miller, 80, of Dallas, who died Sunday night at her residence.
Pastor Garland Gotoski is to officiate, and interment
is to be in Blue Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Cantrell Funeral Home of Frisco.
Mrs. Miller was born on Oct. 10, 1918, in Arkansas, the daughter of the late Dietrich H. and Lizzie Lindner Eillers. She was married to George Miller in Rockwall, was a retired waitress, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dallas.
She is survived by four sons, Keith Mueller of Blue Ridge, Richard Muller of Phalba, Greg Mueller of Garland and Bruce Mueller of Mesquite; a niece, Pat Wingate of Dallas; two sisters, Dora Fraembs of Chester, Ill., and Olga Scales of San Antonio, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four sisters, Marie Mann, Esther Buckman, Laura Douglas and Verna Eilers.

MR. McLAUGHLIN
Former Farmersville resident Ray D. McLaughlin, 77, a retired Soil Conservation Service employee of many years, died Tuesday in a Winnsboro hospital. He had made his home in Winnsboro for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Beaty Funeral Home Chapel at Winnsboro with the Reverends Henry Suche, Marvin Capehart and L. D. Smith officiating. Interment
will be in Harmony Cemetery in Hopkins County.
Pallbearers will be David Morgan, Eldon R. Davis, Tommy Thurman, Barney Anderson, Jack Cowser and Jack Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Baker, Robert Browning, Joe Dalton Darby, Gene Phipps, Hershell Phillips, Paul Stephens, Truman Rushing, Chris Wilkins and Glen Wilcox, and members of the Potluck Class of the Winnsboro First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Mr. McLaughlin was born in St. Jo on Jan. 25, 1922, the son of Walter and Blanche Mitchell McLaughlin. He married Elizabeth Ann McLaughlin on Feb. 25, 1971.
A veteran of service during World War II, Mr. McLaughlin was a graduate of Texas A&M University. During the war he was a Radio Operator/Technician 5th Grade in the 710th Tank Battalion. He was also a retired volunteer fireman in both Farmersville and Winnsboro. He was a District Conservationist for 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth McLaughlin, and a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Davis, all of Winnsboro; a brother, Edsel McLaughlin of St. Jo; a sister, Marie Moore of Nocona; two grandsons, Daniel and Dustin Davis of Winnsboro, and one niece and one nephew.
MR. GAMBRELL
Arlus Lee Gambrell, 88, a prominent Copeville soil conservationist/farmer, died last Friday at his home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church of Copeville, of which he was a member, with the Reverends Russell Moore and Jeff Moore officiating. Interment
was in Thompson Cemetery at Copeville under the direction of the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.
Mr. Gambrell was a native and lifelong resident of Copeville. Born on Dec. 5, 1910, he was the son of Samuel A. and Geneva E. Hornbuckle Gambrell. He married Crystelle Vera Leonard in Durant, Okla., on June 3, 1933, and she preceded him in death. He was a veteran of service in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, JoAnne Airhart of Copeville; two sons, Joel Gambrell of Bossier City, La., and Jack Gambrell of Waco, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
MISS SHINN
Charlotte L. Shinn, a 100-year-old native of the Bethlehem community and long-time resident of Farmersville, died last Friday in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Bethlehem Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Arrangements were made by the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.
Miss Shinn was born on Jan. 11, 1899, the daughter of Thomas W. and Mollie Wilcoxson Shinn. She was a homemaker and a Primitive Baptist. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Redwine
Funeral services were observed at 11 a.m. Monday in the Galloway Memorial Church of God in Christ for Leonard Redwine Sr., 79, a long-time Farmersville resident who died last Thursday, Sept. 2.
Officiating was Supt. J. E. Ellis, and interment
was in Farmersville Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home of Dallas.
Pallbearers were grandsons Douglas Redwine, Carlton Redwine Jr., Bobby Dennis, Raylor Thompkins, Gerald Redwine, Jarvis Redwine, Keenan Morris and Cedric Redwine. Honorary pallbearers were nephews James E.Lynch Sr., John Redwine, Michael Chatman, Robert Redwine, Roger Redwine, David Chatman and Dwayne Chatman.
A native of Quitman, Mr. Redwine was born on March 15, 1920. He was the son of the late Elijah and Lonnie Redwine. His parents moved to Farmersville when he was a child, and he received his education through Welford School in Farmersville. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ.
He was married to the former Margaret Pollard on July 4, 1942.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Margaret R. Redwine of Farmersville; three sons, Leonard Redwine Jr. and and Wayne D. and Pamela Redwine of Fort Worth and Carlton A. Redwine of Farmersville; a daughter, Miss’y. Deborah C. Thompkins; a son-in-law, Donal R.Thompkins of Fort Worth; two sisters, Mrs. Tennie Chatman of El Sombrante, Calif., and Mrs. Catherine Anderson of Dallas; 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roderick (Pete) Redwine; two daughters, Lois M. Dennis and Linda R. Redwine, and one son, Eld. Henry E. Redwine.
Mr. Flatt
Woodrow Wilson Flatt, 85, died Saturday, Sept.4, at his home in Princeton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Gurley and Mr. Doyle Ives officiating. Interment
was in Wilson Chapel Cemetery at Lowry Crossing.
Mr. Flatt was born in Lowry Crossing on Sept. 12, 1913, the son of John Wesley (Wes) Flatt III and Mandy Yaw Flatt. He married Stella Gertrude Hale in 1932 in Lovington, New Mexico. He later married Willie Faye Best on Dec. 17, 1940, in Lovington. He worked hauling hay, and in the fall worked in the cotton gin until his retirement.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Princeton.
Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Jane Owens of Farmersville, Amanda Faye Fisher of Princeton and Rita Fern Curtis of Pueblo, Colo.; three sons, John W. (Jay) Lightner of Princeton, Ellis Dean Lightner of Farmersville and Woodrow William (Bill) Flatt of Whitewright; 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; a sister, Addie Glen Thompson of Lubbock, and several other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Faye Flatt, and a son, Doyle Wayne Flatt.
Mr. Neale
David Neale, 73, of Princeton, died Friday, Sept. 3, at his residence.
He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 4, 1926, the son of William and Hannah Docherty Neale. He married Lilly Walker on Dec. 14, 1951, in Glasgow. He was a retired policeman for the Stratchely De Police Department and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Princeton.
He is survived by his wife, Lilly Neale, and daughters Jan Marshall and Marion Howard, all of Princeton, three grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Arrangements were with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors of McKinney.
Mrs. Langley
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in McKinney for Lena Dalton Langley, 75, a Princeton resident who died Aug. 29 in Farmersville.
The Rev. Jerry D. Shavers conducted the rites, and interment
was in Princeton Cemetery. The family said that memorials may be made to the Princeton Cemetery Association.
Mrs. Langley was a native of Princeton. Born on July 19, 1924, she was the daughter of George and Jennie Tom Wilson Dalton. She married T. C. Langley in Princeton on Feb. 27, 1944, and was previously employed by Citizens State Bank of Princeton as a teller and by the Collin County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Princeton.
Surviving are her son, Tommy Langley and his wife Marlee of Princeton; two daughters, Jan Coker and her husband Billy of Mt. Pleasant and Lyn Horton and her husband Steve of Farmersville; grandsons Tommy Langley of Sherman and Kyle Bertsch of Arlington; a granddaughter, Schancie Bertsch of Arlington; two sisters, Dortha Clements and Maurine Odil of Princeton, and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Mrs. Jones
Last rites were observed at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in the Merit Baptist Church for Bobbie J. Jones, 74, a Greenville resident who died Aug. 26 in Briarcliff Nursing Home in Greenville.
Officiating was the Rev. Jeff Fisher, and interment
was in the Merit Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Peters Funeral Home of Greenville was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jones was a native of Malta, Tex., and was born on Dec. 1, 1925, the daughter of Joe Robert and Vera Mae Nix Biven. She married Clarence Warner Jones in Texarkana on June 6, 1942, and was a homemaker, a member of the Merit Baptist Church and a former resident of Farmersville.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Jones of Farmersville, Michael Jones of Blue Ridge and Gerald Jones of Lewisville; a daughter, Sharon Hass of Merit; a brother, Jim Biven of Kaufman; a sister, Juanita Story of Sulphur Springs, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988.
