Mrs. Cass
Funeral services for Audrey A. Cass of Allen, who died last Thursday in McKinney at the age of 97, were held at 12 noon Friday, Jan. 21, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel at McKinney.
Officiating was the Rev. Kirk Taylor, and interment
was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mrs. Cass, a former rural school teacher who retired from the North American Defense Plant, was born in Oklahoma on Oct. 1, 1902, the daughter of Robert B. and Annie Russell Patterson. She received a commendation from President Harry S Truman, was a 50-year member of Bluebonnet Eastern Star Lodge, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Cass of Allen, and a grandson, Ben Cass of Dallas. She was preceded in death by a son, C. A. Cass Jr., her parents, nine brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Webb
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, in the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge for Berlin Imogene Webb, 80, a resident of Pflugerville who died Jan. 18 in Austin.
Officiating was the Rev. Brian Edmonds, and interment
was in the Blue Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
Mrs. Webb had spent most of her life in Blue Ridge. She was a native of Utica, Okla., where she was born on Sept. 17, 1919, the daughter of Oscar and Hazel Sanderson Reynolds. She married Truman Webb in Blue Ridge on Oct. 5, 1940, and was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pflugerville.
Survivors include two sons, Dois Webb of Pflugerville and Mike Webb of Burkburnett; two sisters, Bobbie Thurman of Celeste and Vonda Perry of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Glen Reynolds of San Antonio, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Cowgill
Babe Cowgill, 82, well-known Nevada rancher, died Saturday in Rowlett.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Nevada Baptist Church with the Reverends Brad Elsom and M.L. Jones officiating. Interment
was in Nevada Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.
Mr.Cowgill was a native and lifelong resident of Nevada. Born on Feb. 7, 1917, he was the son of William A. Sr. and Eddie Steffey Cowgill. He married Mamie Boughton in Nevada on Oct. 26, 1962, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Mamie Cowgill of Nevada; two daughters, Carolyn Hargrave of Farmersville and Debbie Cummings of McKinney; two sisters, Maggie Cipher of Dallas and Eva Faulks of Arlington; a brother, Bud Cowgill of Nevada, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Box
Last rites were observed at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church of Blue Ridge, of which she was a member, for Edna Lorene Box, 90, who died last Tuesday, Jan. 18, in Dallas. At the time of her death she resided in the C. C. Young Memorial Home in Dallas.
The rites were conducted by the Rev. Charles Hahn, and interment
was in the Blue Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
Mrs. Box was the mother of Blue Ridge Mayor Frances Slater.
She was born in Dallas on Sept. 26, 1909, the daughter of Edgar Herschel and Katie Bell Alexander Porter. She married John D. Box in Tyler on Dec. 24, 1926, and was a homemaker who resided in Blue Ridge for many years.
Surviving besides her daughter are a sister, Gladys Richey, and a brother, W. L. Porter, both of Tyler, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Henslee
Miles H. Henslee, 88, who with his brother operated a grocery store on the south side of the Square in Farmersville for many years, died Sunday. He had been a resident of Cleburne since 1997.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Nicholson, Wilson Spain, Christopher Spain and John Birkhead.
Arrangements were made by Martin’s Funeral Home of Cleburne.
Mr. Henslee was a native of Farmersville. He was born on Oct. 11, 1911, the son of Dooley and Eunice Ella Henslee. He married Inez Lorene Wallace in Clarksville on Dec. 27, 1934, and she preceded him in death along with a daughter, Glenda Fay Henslee.
He was a retired owner of Henslee’s Grocery in Farmersville, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in this city. He served on the Farmersville City Council for two years, and for several years was a member of the Farmersville Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Kay Birkhead of Cleburne and Anita Lorene Shieldgen of Rowlett; two sisters, Catherine Harris of Farmersville and Frances Savage of Wellington, and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnston
Last rites were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville for Linnie B Johnston, a Farmersville native who died Sunday in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
The Reverends Bob Layman and Riley Hamilton officiated, and interment
was in Memoryland Memorial Park at Greenville.
Mrs. Johnston was born in this city on Jan. 19, 1925, the daughter of Ernest V. and Ollie B Spark Edgington. She graduated from Farmersville High School, and married John G. Johnston in Dallas on Dec. 4, 1942.
She was employed at Greenville Medical and Surgical Clinic for many years, and retired as chief deputy of the Hunt County Tax Assessor’s office. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Rejebian Book Club.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Phyllis Johnston of Rockwall; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Pat Grady of Rockwall;, and grandchildren Melissa and her husband Bob Holliman of Rockwall, Michael Grady of Marina del Rey, Calif., Jennifer Johnston of Austin and Jillian Johnston of Rockwall, and two great grandchildren, Jake and Brenner Holliman of Rockwall. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 22, 1992, her parents and a brother.
Mrs. Dees
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Restland Memorial Chapel at Dallas for Bobbie Clindining Dees, 70, who died Sunday in Dallas.
Officiating will be the Rev. Jack Gibson, and interment
will be in Memoryland Memorial Park at Greenville.
Mrs. Dees had a number of relatives in the Farmersville/Merit area. She was born in Tulsa, Okla., on March 9, 1929, and graduated from Greenville High School and attended Texas State College for Women (now TWU) at Denton.
She and her husband, Bill Dees, lived in France, Japan, Singapore, Spain and Italy where his career took them. She held several offices in the Northwood Women’s Club and was active in the club’s charity activities, the Variety Book Club and the Lunch Bunch while residing in Dallas.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Dees; a daughter, Vickie Cantwell, son-in-law Carl Cantwell and grandchildren Cara and William Cantwell of Plano; two sisters, Pat Staples of Greenville and Diane Bloyed of Broken Arrow, Okla., and a niece, Gay Lowery of Tyler. She was a cousin of the late Fred Cox of Farmersville.

Mrs. Craft
Clytie Margaret Craft, 93, a long-time resident of Farmersville, died Tuesday in Denton, where she was making her home.
Funeral services have been planned for 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church of Farmersville with Chaplain Joe Booreman officiating. Interment
will be in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Farmersville or the First Baptist Church of Denton Library or Building Funds.
Mrs. Craft was born in Lee County, Miss., on Aug. 1, 1906, the daughter of Charles and Bessie Esterling Keys. She married Elmer Craft in Dallas on Dec. 27, 1924, and was a seamstress and a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmersville.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Pam Eastup and her husband Jerry of Denton and Lisa Tuomey and her husband Jay of Coppell; five great grandchildren, Emily Eastup, Amanda Eastup, Ashley Cook, Lexi Tuomey and Landon Tuomey; one great grandchild, and two sisters, Nell Glass of Lake Tawakoni and Eula Eubanks of Farmersville.
Mr. Harris
Eugene (Gene) Harris, 73, of Ore City, a retired senior master sergeant in the U. S. Air Force, died Sunday at Longview Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Farmersville. Interment
with full military honors will follow at Thompson Cemetery in Copeville. An honor guard from Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls,will render honors.
The family said that donations may be made in Mr. Harris’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Craft Harris of Copeville, in 1970.
He moved to East Texas in 1973, retiring after 28 years (1944-73) of distinguished military service. He served in the U. S. Navy first, then the Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Surviving are a brother, William Harris of Arlington; four sisters, Ruth Ann Sanford of Buchannan, Mich., Leola Janoski of Seneca, S. C., Wynnafred Gazi of Berrien Springs, Mich., and Ona Mae Markley of Jasper; four sons, James E. and Fredrick A. Harris of Delton, Mich., from a previous marriage to the former Glennis Marie Burpee, also of Delton, Harry B. Harris of Ore City and Larry G. Harris of Wayland, Mich., both from his marriage to Evelyn; a stepson, Earle C. Irwin of Enterprise, Ala., nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
