Mrs. Edwards
Graveside rites were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery for Minnie Irene Edwards, 95, a former Canton resident who died last Thursday at her home in Fort Worth. She was a native of Copeville.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel at Van, with Mr. Sam Sidders officiating.
Grandsons and great grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Edwards was born on Dec. 17, 1904. She made her home in Canton for many years, but had resided in Fort Worth for the past 6 1/2 years. She was a member of the Cottonwood Church of Christ, and was retired from Morton Foods of Garland.
Survivors include three daughters, Dee Anderson and her husband Andy of Garland, Ann McClanahan and her husband Dan of Van and Joy Thompson and her husband Johnnie of Fort Worth; two daughters-in-law, Pauline Edwards of Dallas and Margie Edwards of Garland; a sister, Jerry Thomason of Robert Lee, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned L. Edwards; two sons, Carl Edwards and L. J. Edwards; a granddaughter, Sharon Johnson, and a grandson, Wayne Edwards.
Mrs. Cheatham
Last rites were observed at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Center Street Church of Christ at Sherman for Ola Ruth Cheatham of Blue Ridge, who died Sunday at home at the age of 85.
Officiating were Mr. Russell Haffner and Mr. Edgar L. Doggett, and interment
was in West Hill Cemetery at Sherman under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
A native of Durant, Okla., Mrs. Cheatham was born on March 18, 1914, the daughter of Claude and Dora Clevenger. She married Clyde Edman Cheatman on July 7, 1934, in Hastings, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Bonneau of The Colony; a son, Eddie Lynn Cheatham of Arlington; two sisters, Opal Lee and Oletha Clevenger of Lawton, Okla., five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pattillo
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Step of Faith Worship Center in Farmersville for Janet Elaine Pattillo, 55, a Farmersville resident who died last Friday at Medical City Hospital-Dallas.
Officiating was the Rev. Rick Riddle, and interment
was in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pattillo was a native of Dallas. She was born on Oct. 20, 1944, to John Childress Vaughan and Ella Louise Vaughan. She was a boxmaker and a Baptist.
Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Pattillo and Dana Smith of Farmersville; two sisters, Peggy Inman of Garland and Judy Coker of Dallas, and two grandchildren, Quinn Brewer Jr. and Jessica Pattillo.
Mr. Matheny
W. C. Matheny, 84, a native of the Snow Hill community and long-time resident of Farmersville, died Monday in McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville with Mr. Paul Foster officiating. Interment
will be in Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Matheny was born on Dec. 3, 1915, the son of Mart and Margaret Jeffcoat Matheny. He married Ellyn Jones in Alvin on April 5, 1963, and was a heavy equipment operator until his retirement.
He is survived by a son, Charles Matheny of Alvin; five sisters, Gladys Thompson of Farmersville, Willie Farmer of Wichita Falls, Billie Osborn of McKinney, Dorothy Foster of McKinney and Janice Humphrey of Garland; a brother, Herschel Davenport of Corsicana, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Curington
Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery for Frances Louise Curington, 68, who was fatally injured in a vehicular accident Saturday in California.
Officiating will be Mr. George Grieb, and arrangements are being made by Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.
Visitation will be from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Curington resided in Twentynine Palms, Calif., at the time of her death. She was born in Texas on Oct. 4, 1931, the daughter of Burl Wesley and Lillian Grace Curington. She was employed by Kaiser Permanente.
Survivors include a sister, Madalynne Doyle of Mesquite, and three nieces, Frances Payne of Dallas, Sherry Grieb of Carrollton and Cathy DuPre of Evergreen, Colo.

Mr. Woody
Ray "Pappy" Woody, 89, a Farmersville native and long-time resident of Princeton, died Friday in North Central Medical Center of McKinney.
Last rites were observed at 2 p.m. Monday in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel at McKinney with the Rev. Kenneth Whittle officiating. Interment
was in Princeton Cemetery.
Mr.Woody was born on Dec. 22, 1910, the son of Claude Trell and Laura Jane George Woody. He married Mildred Godwin on Aug. 23, 1934, in Oklahoma, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1973. He was married to the former Bonnie Ruth Fagg Murley in Princeton on Oct. 12, 1976.
Mr. Woody was a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department for 48 years and was an Honorary Fire Chief. A street near the present Princeton fire station was named in his honor several years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Woody of Princeton; a son, Michael Ray Woody and his wife Barbara of Princeton; a grandson, Bryan Wayne Backer of North Dakota; a stepson, Melvin Murley of McKinney, and two sisters-in-law, Fay Woody of Princeton and Myrtle Woody of McKinney.
Mr. Durham
George "Ross" Durham, 77, of Independence, Mo., died March 7 in the Independence Manor Care Center.
He was born in Farmersville on July 8, 1922, the son of John and Annie Durham. He graduated from Princeton High School, and then enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in World War II, serving in Independence, Kan., and later in Mission, Tex., until his honorable discharge with the rank of corporal. He worked for the Kansas City Gas Service Co. for 34 years. He married Virginia Flanagan in Independence, Kan., on Aug. 1, 1943.
His survivors include his wife, Virginia Flanagan Durham; one daughter, Georgia Lee Ausmus; two grandchildren, Pamela Clinefelter and Diana Lohman, and four great grandchildren.
Burial was in Independence, Kan.
Mrs. Stanford
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Farmersville for Hallie B. Stanford, 84, a Farmersville native who died in this city last Thursday.
Officiating was the Rev. Bart Barber, and interment
was in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stanford was born on Sept. 16, 1915, the daughter of Peachy Earl Smith and Mary Davey Smith. She married Bert Stanford in Durant, Okla., on Feb. 6, 1932, and was a homemaker and a retired employee of Texas Instruments. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmersville.
Surviving are a daughter, Melvia Jean Morris and her husband Jack of Dallas; grandchildren Marilyn Morris Smith and her husband Edwin and Jack L. Morris Jr. and his wife Liz, all of Dallas; great grandchildren, Brantley Smith, McKenzie Stanford Smith, Will Morris and Clay Morris, and two sisters, Sara Evenson and Gold Marquis of California.
Mrs. Wyatt
(Isabel) Dawn Wyatt, 61, of Princeton, died Sunday in the Medical Center of Plano.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in the Climax community with the Reverends Joe Smith and Malcolm Cave officiating. Visitation was planned for Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Belew Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee St., in McKinney.
Mrs. Wyatt was born on July 31, 1938, in Washington, D. C., the daughter of Ralph and Eva Gilmore Herries. She married William Case Wyatt III on June 3, 1960. She had been a member of Culleoka Baptist Church for the past 18 years.
She is survived by her husband, William Case Wyatt III of Princeton; three sons, William Case Wyatt IV and his wife Sandra of Dalhart, James Travis Wyatt and his wife Tammy of Garland, and Thomas Edward Wyatt of Princeton; a sister, Kay Dawson and her husband Donald of West Columbia; a sister-in-law, Janet Johnson of Alexandria, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Cami L. Wyatt-Lee and her husband James of Princeton; and grandchildren Ashley and Rachel Wyatt of Denison, Sarah and Travis Wyatt of Howe, Haley Wyatt of Garland and Shelby and Bryant Lee and Samantha Dawn Wyatt, all of Princeton. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ralph Edward Herries, and a son, Matthew Allen Wyatt.
Mr. Whitaker
Bill Whitaker
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Farmersville for James William (Bill) Whitaker, 55, who died last Wednesday in Mena, Ark.
The Rev. Bart Barber officiated, and interment
was in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.
Mr. Whitaker, a graduate of Farmersville High School, was the owner of Rich Mountain Aircraft Inc. in Mena.
He was born in McKinney on July 17, 1944, the son of James and Geraldine (Jerry) Baker Whitaker.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Whitaker of Mena; three daughters, Hilary Scott of Mineola, Kansas, Lindsay Whitaker of Arlington and Alison Autrey of Killeen; a son, Matthew Whitaker of Pensacola, Fla.; his father, Jimmy Whitaker of Farmersville; a brother, Charlie Whitaker of Farmersville, and a granddaughter, Cassity Scott of Mineola, Kan.
Mr. Johnson
Final rites were observed at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Frisco for W. L. (Dub) Johnson, a Farmersville native who died Sunday in North Central Medical Center of McKinney at the age of 76.
The Rev. Gerald Griffin officiated, and interment
was in Little Elm Cemetery under the direction of Cantrell Funeral Home of Frisco.
Mr. Johnson was born on Aug. 23, 1923, the son of Clyde and Pearl Wisdom Johnson. He married Georgia Frizzell in McKinney on Nov. 11, 1944, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frisco. He retired from American Airlines in cabin service.
Surviving are his wife, Georgia Johnson of Frisco; a son, Bobby Johnson of Frisco; a daughter, Reba Phillips of Mineola; a brother, Kenneth Johnson of Holly Lake, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mabron Johnson; a sister, Oleta Bush, and a grandson.

Alma G. Hearn
Funeral services for Mrs. Alma G. Hearn were held April 2, 2000, in Hurst's Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Farmersville. Mr. MacLeFan officiated. Interment
was in Blue Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Hearn, a former Blue Ridge resident, died March 31 in the Hinton Home. She was 85. Mrs. Hearn was born in Cedar Bayou Jan. 29, 1915, the daughter of Albert and Mary Smith Dahlquist. She married Paul Hearn in Baytown June 20, 1932. She was a former aircraft assembler, and was a member of the Blue Ridge Church of Christ. Survivors include two grandchildren, Ricky White of Rowlett and Debbie Polk of Garland; two sisters, Doris Fennell of Rosenburg and Vida Parton of Baytown, and a brother, Andrew Dahlquist of Baytown. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Shirley White.
Herman Utley
Funeral services for Herman Utley, 78, a Rockwall resident and veteran teacher and principal, were held March 30, 2000, in the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall. The Revs. Keith P. Boon and Sara Hadaway officiated. Interment
was in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall. Mr. Utley died March 28. An elementary school was named in his honor after his retirement from the Rockwall ISD. A native of Collin County, he was born on May 24, 1921, the son of Willie and Lula May Calahan Utley. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II, and received a master's degree in English. He served with the Rockwall ISD as a teacher, principal and then as a substitute teacher prior to his retirement in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Mercedese Utley of Rockwall; two sons, Douglas Utley and his wife, Veronica, of Rockwall and Ron Hall and his wife, Susan, of Wills Point; a brother, John Densmore of Denison; grandchildren Devon Utley, Autumn Power, Ronnie Hall and Sara Roberts, and great grandchildren Thomas Hannah, Kaitlyn Power and Chase Power.

MRS. ARMSTRONG
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Brown's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Irving for Flora Belle Armstrong of Farmersville, who died last Friday in Greenville.
Officiating was the Rev. Wallace Philpot, and interment
was in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Armstrong, and a daughter, Judith Kay Armstrong.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jerry Yancey of Plano and sons and daughters-in-law Claude and Donna Armstrong of Farmersville and Clark and Becky Armstrong of Irving; nine grandchildren, Bobby and Kim Yancey of Blue Ridge, Rhonda and Jeff Gilliam of McKinney, Brent Yancey of Plano, David and Jenny Armstrong of McKinney, Jonathan Armstrong of Irving, Deborah Armstrong of Farmersville, Allison Armstrong of Irving, Matthew Armstrong of Irving and Joseph Armstrong of Irving, and four great grandchildren, Brandi and Tabatha Armstrong of Blue Ridge and Ashten and Erian Gilliam of McKinney.
MRS. MERWORTH
Mildred Keene Merworth, 88, a Farmersville resident, died last Friday in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Farmersville IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Hurst's Fielder-Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. Bart Barber officiated.
A native of Snyder, Mrs. Merworth was born on Oct. 2, 1911, the daughter of George and Emma Wright Hill. She was a Baptist and a retired florist.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Brimmage and Helen Lockhart of Farmersville and Nell Granberry of Naples; a son, Hiram Lee Glover of Juanita, Neb.; a sister, Lillie Isaacs of Stanton, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
MRS. WATKINS
Grace Irene Watkins, 90, a native of Lavon, died Sunday.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Lavon with the Rev. Clint Bratcher officiating. Interment
was in Thompson Cemetery under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
The daughter of Frank and Zona Tollett Geren, she was born on Feb. 1, 1910. She taught in the Wylie and Community Public Schools for 47 years, and was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Lavon. Mrs. Watkins was a member of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
Her parents and husband, Thomas Wayne Watkins, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Wally Watkins of Lavon; a brother, Malcolm Geren of Lavon, Carylene McClendon of Lavon, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
