Imogene Powell
Mrs. Imogene Powell, 66, of 890 Jenny Ridge Road, Carrier Mills, died at 4:20 p.m. Monday 23, 1996 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital due to complication in surgery.
She was born on March 5, 1931, in Evansville, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and three sisters.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Jean Eastwood of Reed, Ky.; a sister, Margaret Beard of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Boone Funeral Homes, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday. Ann Gardner will officiate and burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Evansville.
Bill Yarbrough
Willis M. (Bill) Yarbrough, 88, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996 in Mount Vernon Care Center.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1908, in Providence, Ky. to the late Larkin H. and Georgia E. Dame Yarbrough.
He was retired after 21 years with State Farm Insurance Co. as a district manager.
Mr. Yarbrough was a member of First United Methodist Church, past president of Rotary Club in Carmi, Mount Vernon Elks Lodge, Friends of the Mitchell Museum, and board member for Southern Illinois Conference for Retired Ministers of the United Methodist Church for several years.
On April 6, 1930, in Harrisburg he married the former Gladys Abbott and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Stephen Yarbrough; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. The Rev. Alan Rhein will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the funeral hour on Friday due to the ill health of Mrs. Yarbrough.
Harold "Rusty" Hooten
Harold "Rusty" Hooten, 65, of 602 North Main St., Harrisburg, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996 at his home.
He was born on July 13, 1931, in Harrisburg, to the late Elmer and Myrtle Conley Hooten.
He was a coal miner at Arclar Big Ridge Miner and a Navy veteran. He was a Baptist by faith and attended Wasson Baptist Church.
Mr. Hooten was a member of American Legion Post 167 of Harrisburg.
On Aug. 27, 1985, he married the former Shelby Baer, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Deanna Warwick of Hammond, Ind.; two sons, Gary Dean Hooten of Carrier Mills and Earl Eugene Hooten of Harrisburg; a grandson, Jacob Warwick; four sisters, Nina Hooten and Norma Jean Pritchett, both of Harrisburg, Ina Drutell Jones of Portage, Ind. and Margaret Ann Matthews of Hobart, Ind. and two special friends, Norman and Paula Avery of Harrisburg.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lambert Family Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Don Nelson will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery with military rites by Carrier Mills Legion and Harrisburg Legion.
Cora F. Watkins
Mrs. Cora F. Watkins, 71, a resident of Carrier Mills Nursing Home, formerly of 215 South McKinley St., Harrisburg, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996 in Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on Jan. 1, 1925, in Harrisburg to the late Charlie and Alta Reynolds
Survivors include a son, Billy Huff of Elizabethtown; one grandchild; and three sisters, Helen Hankins and Annadel Cox of Harrisburg and Sybil Digman of Evansville, Ind.
She was the widow of William T. Watkins. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Reynolds and Delbert Reynolds and three sisters, Madge Short, Grace McPherson and Lulabell Peeas.
Graveside services will precede burial at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Shea will officiate.

Rose M. Nielsen
Mrs. Rose M. Nielson, 84, a resident of Fountainview Nursing Home, Eldorado, died at 3:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 1996 in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.
She was the widow of Erik Nielsen. Her parents were the late Henry and Carrie Joiner Zinn and she was born on July 26, 1912, in Cave-in-Rock.
Graveside services preceded burial at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Fox officiated.
Gaskins Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Susie Boarman
Mrs. Susie Boarman, 93, widow of Henry Boarman Jr., a resident of Saline Care Center in Harrisburg, died there at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996.

Helen Louise Roberts
Mrs. Helen Louise Roberts, 66, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Eldorado, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.
She was born in Hamilton County of April 28, 1930, to the late Milton and Alleen Irvin Kane.
She retired as a housekeeper at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Surviving are a son, Steve Roberts of Eldorado; a daughter, Jane Meyers of Mission; three grandchildren, Kane Roberts, Elizabeth Roberts and Justin Meyers; and two sisters, Eleanor Dimmett of Evansville and Betty Vinyard of McAllen.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Fr. Don Abell will officiate and burial will be in Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado.
Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Bruce
Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Bruce, 78, former resident of 1211 Walnut St., Eldorado, died at 1:40 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 1996 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. He had been a resident of Eldorado Care Center.
He was born on March 15, 1918, in Eldorado to the late Guy and Clara Pankey Bruce.
On Aug. 2, 1940 in Genevieve, Mo., he married the former Leda Smith. She preceded him in death on July 29, 1994.
Mr. Bruce was a retired carpenter. He was a non-active deacon at Star Baptist Church in Eldorado.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda and her husband, Chuck Wolven of Baltimore, Md.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Linda Bruce of Jackson, Tenn. and Ben and wife, Debbie Bruce of Memphis, Tenn.
and grandchildren, Brian Wolven, Sherry Raymaekers, Craig Bruce, Krista Bruce, Arron Bruce, Kelli Bruce, Katie Bruce and Kari Bruce; five great-grandchildren, Alexanda and Amaury Raymaekers, Rachel Wolven, Joshua Gabriel and Jennifer Gabriel.
Also surviving are three brothers, Bernard Bruce and Troy Bruce, both of Eldorado and Glen Bruce of Chicago; and three sisters, Gertrude Barker of California, Teresa McCauley and Ellen Gau, both of Chicago.
Services will be held at Star General Baptist Church Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Barry Winders will officiate and burial will be in Rhine Cemetery at Raleigh.

Susie Boarman
Mrs. Susie Boarman, 93, a resident of Saline Care Center in Harrisburg, died there at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996.
In 1924, she married Henry Cronin Boarman Jr. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1983. She was a member of Harrisburg First Baptist Church.
She was born on Nov. 9, 1903, in Carterville to the late Dillon and Amarine Gaskins Carter.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Steve Gall of Peachtree City, Ga.; two granddaughters, Susan and husband, Joe Fulford of Gainesville, Ga. and Jane and husband, Ed Miner of Tyrone, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Derek Miner and Sean Miner, both of Tyrone.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Mike Davis will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
Madge Blackman
Mrs. Madge Blackman, 93, of U.S. Route 45, Carrier Mills, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 1996 at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado.
She was the widow of Orval Blackman and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1976. Mrs. Blackman was born on June 30, 1903, in Saline County to the late Anderson J. and Sarah Hancock.
She was a member of Carrier Mills First Baptist Church. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call after 11 a.m. until service time Saturday. The Rev. Harl Cockrum will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery at Carrier Mills.
Madge Thompson
Mrs. Madge Thompson, 82, widow of Eugene Thompson, of Route 4, McLeansboro, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro.
She was a retired teacher in the Norris City and she and her husband owned and operated the Thompson Army and Navy Store in Hamilton County.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1914, in Hamilton County to the late Hillary Chalon and Millie Mitchell Sandusky. She was a member of Illinois Retired Teacher's and Hamilton
County Home Extension. She attended the New Prospect Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Roger Thompson of McLeansboro; two daughters, Keum Ok Thompson of Queens, N. Y. and Miryung Dickerson of Clayton, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday until service time. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Ruth Zawada
Mrs. Ruth Zawada, 65, of Elizabethtown, died at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Lucy Page
Mrs. Lucy Page, 91, of Belle Rive, died at 11:27 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996 in Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. Her husband, Norval Page, died in 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Alice Lankford of Mount Vernon; a son, A.C. Page, Belle Rive; a sister, Eliza Hutchcraft of Dahlgren; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery near Frisco.
