Virginia M. Fiscus

Virginia M. Fiscus, 86, of Sumner, IL passed away on June 7, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, IL. Born November 15, 1920 in Lawrenceville, IL she was the daughter of Corrie and Nellie (Henry) Wright. She married Vachel E. Fiscus on June 16, 1938 and he preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Diana Fiscus of Sumner, IL one daughter and son-in-law Anita and Jack Couts of Evansville, IN, one sister Dorothy Wells of Sumner, IL, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband.
Virginia was a member of the Beulah United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and a school bus driver.
The funeral will be Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, IL. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Sumner City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Beulah United Methodist Church, Sumner, IL or the Sign of The Kingdom.
Carl R. Litherland

Carl R. Litherland, age 88, of Lawrenceville passed away on June 2, 2007 at the Lawrence Community Health Care Center in Bridgeport. Born May 13, 1918 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Victor and Alpha (Routien) Litherland. He married Anna McKeighan and she died February 1, 1996.
He is survived by two sons Carl Victor (Priscilla) Litherland of Merrillville, IN and Walker Litherland of Arizona, four daughters, Ruth (Gary) Harris, Mary Penick both of Lawrenceville, Loretta (Greg) Brown of Gary, IN, and Lucy Holstein of Pleasant Prairie, WI, as well as 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter Beverly Litherland, one grandchild, three brothers and three sisters.
Carl was a member of the Trimble Bible Church in Robinson, IL. He worked as a welder and electrician at the Gary Steel Mills for years. He also worked for CIPS and farmed in Flat Rock for 20 years.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the May Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Trimble Bible Church.
Lucas E. Gosnell

Lucas E. Gosnell, age 27, of Lawrenceville passed away June 1, 2007 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. Born November 20, 1979, he was the son of Edward and Sherry (Ferguson) Gosnell of Lawrenceville. He married Jessi Remster on March 17, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Jessi, three sons Tyson, Lucas and Waylon Gosnell, his father Ed Gosnell, one brother and sister-in-law Cody and Jessica Gosnell, one sister and brother-in-law Mia and Shaun Wilson, maternal grandmother Jean Gosnell, two nieces Maddie and Olivia all of Lawrenceville.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sherry, paternal grandparents Bill and Evelyn Gosnell, and maternal grandfather Robert Ferguson.
Lucas was a member of the Highway Church of God. He was an independent contractor. Luke enjoyed spending time with his children and was an avid Colts fan who also enjoyed fishing.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Luke's children through the funeral home.
Nancy C. Spillman

Nancy C. Spillman, age 70, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away September 6, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 16, 1937, the daughter of Forrest J. and Mary Lorene (Benson) Main. She married Carrol L. "Jake" Spillman on August 4, 1956 and he survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Kirk and Cindy Spillman of rural Flat Rock, Brad Spillman of Lawrenceville, and Larry Spillman of Vincennes, IN; one daughter, Penni Honey of Phoenix, AZ; one brother Leo Main of Fairfield, IL; two sisters Linda Waggoner of Lawrenceville, and Nina L. Minniear of Jacksonville, IL; and two grandchildren Keisty and Jacob Spillman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
Nancy was a member of the Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. She was also a homemaker and worked at the First Christian Church Daycare Center for approximately five years. She was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
There will be a private service with no visitation. Burial will be held in the Centerville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association or to the American Heart Association.
Dwanna Jo Ann Kirkwood

Dwanna Jo Ann Kirkwood, 70, of Lawrenceville (fomerly of Denver, CO) passed away Thursday at her residence.
Born October 26, 1936 in Marshall County, KS to Arnold Frank and Deana Catherine (Nieman) Schneider. She was married to Edward L. Kirkwood. He died Feb. 7, 2002.
Surviving are 3 Step-sons: Scott Kirkwood of Parker, CO, Jeff Kirkwood of Winston-Salem, NC, Allan Kirkwood of Las Vegas, NV, a step-daughter: Ida Spencer of Englewood, CO, 9 cousins and many friends.
She had worked as a Legal Secretary for Bromley & Kingsley in Denver, CO. She then worked for Judges Robert Kingsley and Warren Martin as a Clerk.
She was a member of the PEO in Lawrenceville. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Marysville, KS. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville where she was very active. She traveled the world spending months overseas.
Funeral services will be conducted in Marysville, KS by the Kinsley Mortuary at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given to the Good Samaritan Hospice through the funeral home.
Local arrangements were handled by the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.
Willis E. Theriac

Willis E. Theriac, age 76, passed away September 4, 2007 at the Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. He was born April 17, 1931 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Edward W. and Gladys (Killion) Theriac. He was married to Dorothy (Davis) Theriac who passed away in 1997.
He is survived by a son, Harry Wagner of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter, May Malone, of Sumner, IL; five brothers Earl and Roy Theriac both of Decker, IN, Ira Theriac of Australia, Grant Theriac of Vincennes, IN, and Elmer Theriac of Missouri; two half-brothers, Bobby Deeley and Frank Deeley both of Vincennes, IN; three sisters Elizabeth Davis of Sumner, IL, Bonnie Phegley of Carlisle, IN and Flossie Moore of Indiana; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers.
Willis worked at Fox Furniture and Dowty Disposal, City of Sumner, Dumes in Vincennes, IN as a truck driver and he also worked for John Wolfe Farms in Sumner.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at Cresthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Cresthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Anna Mae Deckard

Anna Mae Deckard, age 92, of rural Lawrenceville, IL, passed away at her residence on August 29, 2007.
She was born March 07, 1915 in Knox County, IN, the daughter of John Brian Kolehouse and Eliza (Whitimer)Kolhouse. She married Charles Esco Deckard and he passed away in 1979.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Richard and wife Bobbi Deckard of Nathrop, CO and Jack and wife Marlene Deckard of St. Cloud, FL, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Anna was a member of the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and she also did some housesitting.
The visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM with burial following in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Mandell Yosowitz

Mandell Yosowitz, age 92, of Lawrenceville, passed away August 14, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.
Born December 19, 1914 in Lawrenceville, IL, he was the son of Benjamin and Jennie (Prizant) Yosowitz.
He married Norma Sager on August 10, 1952 and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters Sue Urfer of Olney, IL and Ann Cozza of Melrose Park, IL; one grandson Austin Urfer of Olney, IL; and one sister-in-law Marilyn Yosowitz of Scottsdale, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph and Morris Yosowitz.
Mandell was the owner and operator of Yosowitz Clothing Store in Lawrenceville. This store began in 1910 by his parents and this is where Mandell spent his career. He graduated from DePaul University as a Music Major.
He was a member of Temple Adath B'Nai Israel in Evansville, IN. He was a Veteran of the Army Air Corp and served during WWII.
He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks, a member of the VFW, American Legion, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Evansville, IN with burial to follow.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.
Robert J. "Doc" Jerrell

Robert J. "Doc" Jerrell, age 61, of rural Bridgeport passed away August 12, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.
Born, January 16, 1946 in Lawrenceville, he was the son of Virgil and Grace (Blackburn)Jerrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Robert.
He is survived by three sons, Tony Jerrell, Mike Jerrell, and Billy Kocher all of Bridgeport; two brothers Virgil Jerrell and Elba Ladson both of Lawrenceville; one sister Annabelle Leib of Bridgeport, and six grandchildren.
"Doc" worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the local 841. He also owned Jerrell Backhoe Service for 15 to 20 years. He was a member of the Lawrenceville Moose.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. The visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
