Dr. Dale King
Dale King, M.D., 81, of Ojai, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001. He was born April 19, 1920, in Hammond, Ind., to Raymond and Anna King.
He attended Wheaton College concurrently with the Rev. Billy Graham. During World War II, he took a one-year hiatus and ran a lathe working on the Norton bomb site. He graduated from Indiana University in April of 1944. While completing his residency at City Hospital in Indianapolis, he met his wife, Gerry, who was in nurse's training.
Dr. King opened his first practice in 1949 in Fairmont, Ind. One of his patients was James Dean. His old office there is now the James Dean Museum.
Dr. King came to Ojai and started his practice in February of 1962. He retired in 1985. During those 23 years, he delivered many babies, including one set of triplets.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gerry; sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Glenda King, Craig and Sherie King, and David and Misty King; son Keith King; daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Ken Hartenstein; daughter Michelle McNeely; sister and brother-in-law Mavis and Sam Campbell; sister-in-law Isabel Neununbel and her husband, Bob; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger King.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the Ojai Valley Community Church, with the Rev. Jim Geisler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Patsy Ann Ireland
Patsy Ann Ireland, 70, of Ojai, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Oklahoma, and had lived in Ventura County for 18 years and in Ojai for 16 years, coming from Norwalk, Calif.
Mrs. Ireland was a homemaker. Her interests included fishing, and going to Las Vegas and Laughlin.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan Lillehaug of Oak View, and Lynn Lagomarsino of Reno, Nev.; sons James Ireland of Riverside, Calif., John Ireland of Oak View, Michael Ireland of Grants Pass, Ore., and Thim Ireland of Ojai; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rosalie F. McClellan
Rosalie F. McClellan, 83, of Ventura, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Weldona, Colo., to Frank and Simone Adams. She lived in Ojai from 1955 to 1965 and was a 46-year county resident, coming from Santa Barbara.
Mrs. McClellan was retired from the U.S. Navy at Port Hueneme, where she worked as a data processor. She continued with data processing at Community Memorial Hospital and the Ventura Unified School District.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Susan McClellan, of Fresno, Calif.; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jerry Green, of Ojai; daughter-in-law Nikki Davis of Coos Bay, Ore.; brothers Blaine Adams, of Garden Grove, Calif., and Joe Adams of Arizona; sister Laura Lee Best of Arkansas; sister-in-law Ailene Adams of Wilmington, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ken Anthony.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at noon at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, with Pastor Scott Harrell officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Ethel M. Munzlinger
Ethel M. Munzlinger, 82, of Ojai, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Acacias Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was born July 26, 1919, in Williamstown, Mo., and lived in Ojai for three years, coming from Mesa, Ariz.
Mrs. Munzlinger was a postal clerk.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Victor R. Munzlinger, of Ojai; daughter and son-in-law Norma and James Joseph Lamb of Ojai; sister Nell Little of Canton, Mo.; and brother Elbert Marks of Houston, Texas.
Family services will be held at a later date.

Thomas Patrick Weed
Thomas Patrick Weed, 21, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at his home in Hesperia, Calif. He was born March 5 1980, in Torrance Calif. He lived in Ojai for nine years and moved to Hesperia two years ago. He attended Matilija Junior High and Nordhoff High School.
Mr. Weed is survived by his parents, Peter and Donna Weed, brother Timothy, Timothy's fiancée Brittany Ackart, and his best friend Rock Stilwell, all of whom live in Hesperia. He is also survived by his grandmother, Ann Weed of Carson, Calif.
Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at Kern Mortuary 16120 Main St., Hesperia.
Dorothy Reeves
Mrs. Dorothy Reeves, 79, of Oak View, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001.

Vera Vivian Weavering-Bartels-Masurek
Vera Vivian Weavering-Bartels-Masurek, 94, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1906, in Plainville, Kan., and was raised on the Weaverling family farm in Codell, Kan. While a teenager, she was a member of the 1921-1922 Kansas State Championship Girls' Basketball Team.
She married Pete Bartels, also from Kansas, and they moved to Ventura in 1936. She worked as a leather seamstress for 30 years at the Star Glove Leather Factory on Ventura Avenue. Mr. Bartels owned the OK Barber Shop on Main Street and Thompson Boulevard in Ventura. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She remarried a widower, Frank Mazurek, who also preceded her in death in 1991. They lived in the Mira Valle Mobile Home Park in Ojai. She was known in Ojai as "The Dollmaker," as she reconditioned dolls and returned them for sale at the Little House.
She had always been active, and at age 94 was still doing seamstress work and taking regular walks around Villa Los Posas where she had lived for the past three years.
Mrs. Mazurek is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ned and Pat Bartels, of Somis, and Daryl and Jo Bartels, of Lebec; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She had eight brothers and one sister; her only surviving brother is Bert Weaverling of Auburn, Calif.
Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai. Interment
was at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.

Timothy Jon Bradley
Timothy Jon Bradley, 54, of Ojai, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1947, in Laramie, Wyo., and lived in Ojai for 38 years, coming from San Rafael, Calif.
Mr. Bradley worked in construction.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Bradley of Ojai, and Jay Bradley of Washington; sister and brother-in-law Irene and Bobby Ray, and nephews Sage and Sean Ray, all of Antioch, Calif.
Services are pending.

Ruth E. Harrison
Ruth E. Harrison, 88, of Ojai, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Acacias Care Center. She was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Pleasanton, Neb., and lived in Ojai for 40 years.
Mrs. Harrison was a homemaker.
She is survived by her nephew, Robert D. Pierce and his wife, Rita, of Rockville, Md.; nieces Norma Parker and Ruth Naomi Rogers; grandnephew Lawrence Pierce; and grandnieces Dana Kopald and Laurel Pierce.
Private interment
will be at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, Calif.

Michael Allen Paul
Longtime Ventura County resident Michael Allen Paul, 64, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Goleta, Calif. He was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Ventura County.
He was raised as a child in Big Pine, Calif., then moved back to Ventura and graduated from Ventura High School and Ventura College. He owned several restaurants in Ventura, and was also employed by Global Marine and Barber Ford for years.
Mr. Paul's grandmother ws a Dakota Indian and he compiled the family's genealogy and did much storytelling, passing on family anecdotes.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Gretchen Paul of Ojai; daughter Michelle Paul of New York, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Debbie Paul of Santa Paula; ex-wife Cherie Paul-Schmeichel of Ojai; two grandchildren; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Paul and Elenor Scott Crocker.
A farewell memorial will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the home of Cherie Paul-Schmeichel. Friends and family are invited. Please call 646-3963 for directions.

Herbert William Smith
Herbert William Smith, 83, of Ojai, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001. He was born June 9, 1918, in Maud Okla., and had lived in Ojai since 1946.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War II. He entered the U.S. Army on March 10, 1941, a member of the A Company, 273rd Infantry, 69th Infantry Division, with the rank of technical sergeant. He was in direct contact with the enemy near Kamber, Germany, on Feb. 18, 1945, when he was injured.
He received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Ribbon, Expert Infantryman Badge, Silver Star, American Theatre Ribbon, American Defense Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, the Bronze Campaign Star and the Victory Ribbon.
Mr. Smith was employed by Oilfield Electric Company in Ventura from 1946 to 1998. He became part-owner in 1964 and president in 1970. Oilfield Electric was his life's work.
He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Assocation, the Fighting 69th Infantry Division, and Petroleum Pioneers, Inc.
Mr. Smith is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Diane Smith, of Ojai; sister Dola Horton of Luther, Okla.; sister and brother-in-law Faye and Gene Thompson of Pismo, Calif.; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Smith, on Jan. 4, 1998, and his parents, James and Maudie Smith.
At his request, there will be no service.
