Kimberly Kay Finn
Kimberly Kay Finn, 44, of Ojai, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000. She was born Oct. 15, 1955, in Black River Falls, Wisc., and had lived in Ojai for 43 years.
She attended Ojai schools and graduated from Port Huron High School in Port Huron, Mich., in 1973. She was an accomplished equestrian and performed volunteer work.
She is survived by her mother and father, George and Sue Finn of Ojai; brother Michael Finn of Ojai and his friend Linda Chapman; sister and brother-in-law Kelly and Kirk Hofmeister of Ojai; two nephews and a niece, all of Ojai; and companion Scott Eddy of Pasadena.
Private services will be held at Nordhoff Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society in Ojai.

Walter P. Grosjean
Walter P. Grosjean, 88, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his home in Ojai. He was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Omaha, Neb., and had lived in Ojai for 16 years, coming from Yuma, Ariz.
Mr. Grosjean had been an auto parts merchant in Hillsboro, Ore. He was a member of the Ojai Optimist Club.
He is survived by his wife Esther M. Grosjean of Ojai; sons Walter P. Grosjean Jr. of Redmond, Wash., and Ronald M. Grosjean of Portland, Ore.; sister Gertrude Burns of Omaha, Neb.; brother Joe Grosjean of Cheyenne, Wyo.; five granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ojai Optimist Club.

Betty Wright
Betty Wright, 69, of Oak View, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 17, 1931, in Mount Hamill, Iowa, and had lived in the Ojai Valley for 51 years.
Mrs. Wright was a homemaker and gardener.
She is survived by her daughters Sandra Toney and Tawnya Miller; son Mike Wright; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Wright in April 1991, and sons Lon Wright in September 1992, and Dan Wright in May 2000.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.

Marian F. Sabin
Former Ojai resident Marian F. Sabin died July 10, 2000, in Fort Jones, Calif. Her obituary appeared in the July 14 issue of the Ojai Valley News.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ojai United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bobbie McMullen officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church's Memorial Gardens.

Marilyn L. 'Mary Lou' Block
Marilyn L. "Mary Lou" Block, 69, of Ojai, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born May 31, 1931, in Long Beach, and lived in Ojai for eight years, coming from Van Nuys.
Mrs. Block was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ojai Presbyterian Church, where she had volunteered in the church office, and she was a member of the P.E.O.
Mrs. Block attended the University of California at Los Angeles and was a former member of the Occidental College Women's Club.
She is survived by her husband Ken Block of Ojai; son and daughter-in-law Leonard W. and Alissa Block of Venice; daughter and son-in-law Nancy L. and Ken Kreider of Washoe Valley, Nev.; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service was held Sept. 6 at the Ojai Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Leon Thompson and Steve Steele officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund of the Ojai Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association, Ojai Affiliate.

Gordon Henry "Gordy" Cunningham
Gordon Henry "Gordy" Cunningham, 60, of Oak View, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 20, 1940, in St. Croix, Ill., to George and Gladys Cunningham and moved to Live Oak Acres as a boy, grew up, joined the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis and returned to settle in Oak View.
Mr. Cunningham retired in 1995 from the Ventura County Road and Maintenance Department after 32 years. He was an active member of many organizations, including the Ojai Valley Boat Club, Back Street Rods, the American Legion, Moose Lodge and several motorcycle and classic car clubs.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; children Larry Williams of Oxnard, and Tammi Huddleson of Chico; father George Cunningham of Arizona; brothers Gary Cunningham of Iowa, and George Cunningham or Arizona; stepchildren Pat Marshall, Mike Marshall, and Sandra Hansen, all of Ojai; three grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren.
Graveside services will held Saturday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura. A celebration of life will be held in Ojai at the American Legion, 821 E. Ojai Ave., immediately following the services.
His family requests that memorial donations be made to Livingston Memorial or the American Cancer Society.

John Oscar Tinsley
John Oscar Tinsley, 85, of Ojai, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was a 45-year resident of Ventura County and was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Los Angeles to James and Gertrude Tinsley. He grew up in the Maricopa and Bakersfield areas.
In 1943, he married Frances, was married 48 years, and raised a daughter, Susan. His career spanned 50 years in the grocery business, with more than 20 years for Santa Cruz markets in Ventura, retiring as a meat cutter.
Frances died in 1991, following which Mr. Tinsley married Ina Mae Crecellus in 1993.
His hobbies included woodcarving, gardening and motorcycles. Mr. Tinsley was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1679, Ventura, and was a past commander of the American Legion Post #339, Ventura, and past chef de gare of the 40 and 8 of Ventura County and honor society of the American Legion. He volunteered for Ventura American Legion bingo and as a tram driver for the Santa Barbara Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic.
He is survived by his wife Ina Mae Tinsley of Ojai; brothers and sisters-in law Robert and Dorothy Tinsley of Tehachapi, and William and Louise Tinsley of Bakersfield; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Mike Rodriguez of San Rafael; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Frances and a twin brother James Daniel Tinsley.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura, with the Ventura American Legion Post #339 officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

James Wycherley
James Wycherley, 97, of Ojai, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000. He was born June 7, 1903, in England, went to Canada and then immigrated to the United States.
He had been a Ventura County resident for 18 years and retired as business manager at Santa Barbara County Hospital.
Mr. Wycherly studied philosophy and comparative religion, taking him to the Theosophical Society, The International Order of Co-Freemasonry, Tibetan Buddhism and the Liberal Catholic Church, where he became a priest.
He is survived by his wife Annine; daughter and son-in-law Leigh Readdy of Kirkland, Wash.; sister Bobbie Campeau; a niece and a nephew; and two grandnieces.
A Requiem Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Liberal Catholic Church of Our Lady and All Angels, 1502 E. Ojai Ave.

Patricia May 'Patsea' Walbridge
Patricia May "Patsea" Walbridge, 76, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, in an auto accident in Surprise, Ariz. She was born May 23, 1924, in Chicago, Ill. and came to the Ojai Valley in 1960.
She is survived by her husband Tom Walbridge; daughter and son-in-law Clela and Todd Stallings of Ojai; son Bill Martin of Ojai; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Gene Myers of Germany; son and daughter-in-law Alan and Dorothy Walbridge of Ventura; son Dale Walbridge of Ventura; sisters-in-law and husbands Martha and Jim Razor, and Donna and Ed Ritchie; and five grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her memory Sunday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at Ventura United Methodist Church, 1338 N. Santa Clara Road in Ventura.

Karen J. Abeloe
Karen J. Abeloe, 42, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at her home in Oak View, from breast cancer.
She was born Aug. 3, 1958, in Long Beach, Calif., and lived in the Ojai Valley for 14 years. She was a 24-year Ventura County resident, coming from Orange County.
Mrs. Abeloe had been a veterinary technician with the Ojai Pet Hospital for 14 years.
She is survived by her fiancé Phillip Estill; mother Annette Barrie; children Heidi Johnson, Dennis Abeloe II, Danielle Abeloe and Jessica Abeloe; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father James R. Geston.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. and services at 2 p.m. today at the Ojai Valley Baptist Church. Pastor Scott Harrell will officiate. Interment
will follow at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura.

Donald Emery Kennison
Donald Emery Kennison, 89, of Ventura, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, almost reaching his 90th birthday. He was born Sept. 22, 1910, in Russell, Kan. He had been a California resident for more than 50 years, and resided in Ventura County for the last 12 years.
His hobbies included boating, fishing, traveling and bowling.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Todd Kuhn of Ojai; daughter Janice Arndt of Cave Creek, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law Florence and Bud Bennett of Capistrano Beach; sister Grace, 88, of Kansas; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kennison will be buried next to his wife of many years, Emma Rose Kennison, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

Irene Frances Hurst
Irene Frances Hurst, 97, of Ojai, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, in Ojai. She was born June 27, 1903, in Santa Paula, Calif., and had lived in Ojai since 1966, coming from Compton, Calif.
Mrs. Hurst had been a secretary for Compton City Schools and was a past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Compton. She was a member of the Soule Park Women's Golf Club and the Ojai Valley Woman's Club.
She is survived by her son Bill Hurst of Salinas; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Mary Hurst of Huntington Beach; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wally Hurst in 1993.
Private family services will be held, and inurnment will be at Nordhoff Cemetery in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Home Society.

Velma Miller
Velma Miller, 86, of Ojai, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital due to cancer. She was born Aug. 20, 1914, in Oklahoma, and lived in Ojai for 28 years.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She was a volunteer at Ojai Valley Community Hospital and the hospital's Skilled Nursing Center. She helped deliver Meals on Wheels in Ojai, and assisted the elderly even while being elderly herself.
She is survived by her daughters Margie C. McBroom of Canoga Park, Harri E. Reisig of Tarzana, and Carol E. Johnston of Thousand Oaks; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai, with the Rev. Joseph Corbett officiating.

Quentin Albert Miller
Quentin Albert Miller, 74, of Ojai, died at his home Thursday, June 15, 2000. He was born March 14, 1926, in St. Louis, Mo., and was a longtime resident of the Ojai Valley.
Self-employed, Mr. Miller was also a songwriter and was known for such songs as "I Say Goodbye," "My Child," "Paul Rever's Ride," "I'll Remember," "False-Hearted Lover," "King on the Hill" and "Ojai Lullaby."
He is survived by his brother Kermit Miller of Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth in 1996.

Charlotte "Pat" Van Marter
Charlotte "Pat" Van Marter, 81, of the Ojai Valley, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Fulton, N.Y.
She had been in Ventura County for 25 years, coming from El Segundo, and lived in the Ojai Valley for 21 years.
Mrs. Van Marter was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sister Ann Stevens of Anchorage; and brother and sister-in-law James and Midge Pierce of Ojai.
