Chelan Falls
Clayton Crockett, 73, a fifty-year resident of Chelan Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 1, 1927 at Searcy, AR, the son of Ben W. and Bernie (Hartsfield) Crockett. He attended schools there.
In 1951, he moved to Chelan Falls.
He was married to Hazel Lyons on April 9, 1956 at Coeur d'Alene, ID.
For many years, he was employed in construction of hydroelectric dams on the Columbia River. He retired in 1972.
He was a member of the Northwest Laborers Union.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; one daughter, Jan Durand of Bridgeport; his stepchildren, Bonnie Mitchell of Wenatchee, Ted Voorhies of Othello, Peggy Ford and Kay Moore, both of Montana, Sherry Voorhies of Manson, Sheila Torrance of Oregon; a brother, Bob of Seattle; two sisters, Barbara Mindrup of Spokane, Marie Mowrey of Yakima; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters and one brother.
A Commemoration Service will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 at 11:30 a.m. from Precht Rose Chapel with Sam Holmes officiating. Private interment
will be at Fraternal Cemetery.
Services are under direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
Timothy Earl McCabe
Manson
Timothy Earl McCabe, 10, of Manson, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, due to a drowning accident at Roses Lake.
Tim was born Sept. 9, 1990, at the family home at First Creek, the son of Timothy and Patricia (Stratford) McCabe.
He was a fourth-grade student at Manson Elementary School and attended North Shore Bible Church with his family.
Family was all-important to Tim, being a tender-hearted young boy with a ready smile, a love of sports and a great imagination.
He is survived by his father and mother of the home; two brothers, Cody and his wife, Julie of Coeur d'Alene, ID and Shawn of the home; two sisters, Monica of Sparks, NV and Amy of the home; grandparents, Earl and Judy Stanford of Manson, Leonard and Betty Allott of Graham; numerous uncles and aunts; and Tim's bassett hound, Francis.
Services of Commemoration will be Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at 2 p.m. from North Shore Bible Church with the Reverend Craig Rayment officiating. Committal service and interment
will follow at Fraternal Cemetery in Chelan. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Precht Rose Chapel.
Memorials may be made in Tim's name to the Manson Fire Department.
Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
Leslie Gerrine Hoyt
Leslie Gerrine Hoyt, 61, of Wenatchee, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001.
She had lived in Wenatchee for three years and had worked as a registered nurse, most recently at the Cashmere Convalescent Center.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Brant; a daughter, Trudy Dant; and four sisters, Yolanda Anderson of Puyallup, Cecile Martin of Yucaipa, Calif., and Ouida Harding and Lola Kendall, both of Yaak, Mont.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wenatchee Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Robert L.E. 'Bob' MacEachern
Robert L.E. "Bob" MacEachern, 72, of Tonasket, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001.
He had lived in Tonasket for nine years and had worked at a lumber mill for 40 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Milly Nixon of Folsom, Calif.; and a sister, Anne Grudzis of Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Arrangements are by American Burial and Cremation Services, Wenatchee.
Gordon O. Wilhelm
Gordon O. Wilhelm, 35, of Chelan, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001.
He was a master cabinet maker.
Survivors include a daughter, Kristina Wilhelm of Chelan; a son, Michael Scott Wilhelm of Chelan; his mother and stepfather, Vianna and Bob Jensen of Chelan; his father and stepmother, Gordon and Carolyn Wilhelm of Puyallup; a sister, Sharina Marie Wilhelm of Puyallup; and three brothers, Calvin Wayne Wilhelm and Jason Samuel Wilhelm, both of Puyallup, and Danny Guy Wilhelm of Tacoma.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Betts Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are by Betts Funeral Service, Wenatchee.
David "Ed" Gelvin
Omak
David "Ed" Gelvin passed away Jan. 17, 2001, at Mid-Valley Hospital from a heart attack, while hospitalized for pneumonia.
Ed was born Feb. 18, 1918, to Franklin and Yiola Gelvin in Malvern, AR.
He married Della M. Cunningham on Oct. 29, 1938, in Leola, AR. After the birth of daughter, G. Janell "Jani." they moved to Omak in the fall of 1941, to work with brother, John and brother-in-law, Roy O. Taylor as a carpenter.
Ed served in the United States Navy, in the Asian-Pacific, during W.W. II and was honorably discharged in the summer of 1945 and then returned to Omak. Sons, Michael Edward and David Franklin were then born.
He continued to work as a carpenter, then logging as a tree feller and eventually a contractor with partners, Gabe Johnson and later Don Denk. Ed was a past member of the Omak Elks, Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Ed volunteered for the Omak Stampede for over 50 years, rebuilding the arena and chute area after the floods of 1948 and 1972. He helped build the dugouts for the ball fields with partner, Don Denk.
Survivors include a daughter, G. Janell "Jani" and her husband, Jim Glover of Omak; son, Michael Edward Gelvin of Campbell, CA; brother, Samuel J. Gelvin of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Franklin Gelvin, grandson, Robert Michael Gregg, four brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens on Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Masonic Lodge, officiant.
Memorials can be given to the Diabetes Association.
Barnes Elmway Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy Lee Bsharah
Dorothy Lee Bsharah, 89, of Dryden, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001.
She had worked as a cook, and had lived in Dryden for 18 months.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Gere of Cashmere and Phyllis Salem of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a son, Lee Harless of Coos Bay, Ore.
Funeral services will be held at Lake Andes, S.D.
Arrangements are assisted by Braun Funeral Home, Cashmere.
William Arthur 'Bill' Brown
William Arthur "Bill" Brown, 69, of Monitor, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001.
He had been a teacher of agriculture and shop in Chelan, and had taught in Prescott, Touchet, Wenatchee and Bridgeport. He was also an orchardist and 32-year resident of Chelan County.
He is survived by his wife, Danice Brown of the home; and three daughters, Terry Espino of Monitor, and Sherrie Branam and Shelene Brown, both of Curlew.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, Chaplain Scott Langager officiating.
Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
Marty Douglas Cates
Marty Douglas Cates, 46, of Kingston, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born and educated in Idaho, and had lived in Wenatchee and the Pacific Northwest most of his adult life. For the past 15 years he had been a self-employed contractor.
Survivors include his mother, Esther Cates of Portland, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Tristen of Kingston; and two sisters, Jacki Cates of Portland, Ore., and Sharon Riley of Wenatchee.
A private family memorial service was held in Sequim. Another service will be held in Boise, Idaho, this spring next to his father's grave site.
Kathy K. Kitzke
Kathy K. Kitzke, 41, of Wenatchee, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001.
She was a 30-year resident of Wenatchee.
Survivors include her husband, Ken, of Spokane; two sons, Shawn Chisum of Port Angeles and Jeramie Chisum of Wenatchee; a daughter, Kara Chisum of Wenatchee; her mother and stepfather, Shirley and Larry Ruse of Wenatchee; her father, Harold Schreifels of California; and six sisters, Kim Schreifels of Tonasket, Karen Schreifels of California, Kelly McElroy of Cashmere, and Karen Cortez, Karrie Sikes and Amber Otterson, all of East Wenatchee.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. Services will conclude in the chapel, with private interment
at Evergreen Memorial Park. There will be family visitation only.

Dorothy Lyon
Dorothy Lyon, 81, of East Wenatchee, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001.
She operated the laundry at Eye and Ear Clinic of Wenatchee, and was a 55-year resident of East Wenatchee.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Lyon and Ella Smith, both of East Wenatchee; and a son, Vic Lyon of Spokane.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday.

Cecil 'Bud' Myrtle
Cecil "Bud" Myrtle, 72, of Wenatchee, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001.
He was a lifelong resident of Wenatchee and had worked as head fireman for Keokuk, later Hannah Mining, for 38 years.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Bell "Annie" Myrtle of Wenatchee; two daughters, Becky Smiddy of Wenatchee and Lisa Martinez of East Wenatchee; a son, Tim Myrtle of East Wenatchee; two sisters, Lela Brown of Wenatchee and Linda White of Soap Lake; and a brother, Donald Myrtle of Roy, Utah.
Commemoration services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today.

Jeanne Henderson Ruby
Jeanne Henderson Ruby, 76, of Anacortes, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Skagit Valley Hospital.
She was born in Anacortes and spent her early years in Chelan. She returned to Anacortes in 1977 and lived there the rest of her life. She taught school and was a County Extension agent.
Survivors include two daughters, Edna Elavsky of Anacortes and Esme Davis of Kennesaw, Ga.; two sons, Henry Ruby of Kennewick and Bob Ruby of Mount Vernon; and two brothers, Otis Henderson of Chelan and Dan Henderson of Seattle.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chelan United Methodist Church, 1206 N. Emerson.
