Danny Monroe Shoulders
Danny Monroe Shoulders, 62, of Ridgely, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005. He was retired Good Year employee.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Ridgely Church of Christ.
He was born Feb. 16, 1943, in Newbern, to the late Virginia Dare Ballard Shoulders and Claude Shoulders.
He leaves his wife, Linda Shoulders of Ridgely; two daughters, Angela Diane Johnson and Donna Lynn Lawhon, both of Ridgely; a son, Daniel Glenn Shoulders of Ridgely; two sisters, Peggy Childrey of Newbern, and Latricia Jackson of Martin; a brother, Larry Gene Shoulders of Romeoville, Ill.; five grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Robert Earl Smith
Robert Earl Smith, 59, of Hayti, Mo., formerly of Tiptonville, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. He was a retired roofer.
Visitation was Tuesday evening at Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the chapel, with the Rev. W. E. Strout officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brad Hopper, Michael McCoy, Clifford Gooch, Brian Sherrill, Cotton Brewer and Greg Turner.
Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery of Ridgely.
He was born Aug. 27, 1945, in Camden, Tenn., to the late Morie Farmer Smith and Fred Smith.
He married Katherine Beaird, who survives.
He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Union City.
He leaves his wife, Katherine (Kathy) Smith of Hayti, Mo.; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Smith of Christiana, Tenn., and Vicky Lynn Smith of Union City; three brothers, Donald Smith of Obion, Harold Smith of Tiptonville, and Bobby Gene Smith of Portageville, Mo.; a sister, Mary Ann McHughen of Farmington, Mo.; three grandchildren, Brad and Kayla Hopper of Christiana and Stevie Brooke Mers of Union City.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James Smith, William Smith, Kenneth Smith and Billy Smith.

Laverne McClain Haynes
Laverne McClain Haynes, 90, of Dyersburg, died at her home on Thursday, May 5, 2005. She was the widow of Douglas Bryant Haynes Sr. and they were formerly of Ridgely and Hornbeak.
Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Tucker Street Church in Dyersburg, with the Rev. Robert G. Miller and Bobby Stewart officiating.
Pallbearers were Douglas Bryant Haynes III, Sean McClain Haynes, Tracy Wesley Latham Jr., David Tilton Latham, Joe Cook, Donald Stephen Haynes, Jr., Charles Estes, Dimon Kendrick-Holmes, Jr., Stephen Mark Hall, and Kris Fredrick Tesh.
Honorary pallbearers were Myrtle Garrett, Deborah Hansford, Ronald Hansford, Allen Merritt, Era Nale, John Palmer, May Turnbow, Joyce Ward and Elders of Tucker Street Church.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, with H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville, Mo., in charge.
She was born March 27, 1915, in Finley to the late Gertrude Murphy McClain and Thomas Turner McClain.
She attended schools in Finley and Dyersburg.
She married Douglas Bryant Haynes Sr. on Oct. 14, 1933. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2001.
She was a member of the Tucker Street Church of Dyersburg.
She was also a member of the Ridgely Women’s Club, Hornbeak Women’s Circle and enjoyed painting.
She leaves a daughter, Joan Haynes Latham, and husband, Tracy Wesley Latham, of Dyersburg; two sons, Dr. Douglas Bryant Haynes, Jr., and wife, Norma Riggs Haynes, of Dyersburg and Dr. Donald Stephen Haynes Sr. and wife, Sarah Faughn Haynes, of Fairmont, W. Va.; a brother, Guy Thomas McClain and wife, Jennie, of Dyersburg; nine grandchildren, Douglas Bryant Haynes III, and wife, Claire, Sean McClain and wife, Kari, Tracy Wesley Latham and wife, Bobbie, Elizabeth Haynes and husband, Dimon Kendrick-Holmes, Leslie Allison Haynes and Kris Tesh, Amanda Katherine Latham and Mark Hall, Deborah Lynn Haynes, David Tilton and Julissa Latham, Donald Stephen Haynes, Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren, Joseph Michael Cook, Samuel Isaac Tesh, Anna Lynne Tesh, Robert Charles Kendrick-Holmes, John McClain Haynes, Allison Rogers Haynes, Stephen Mark Hall Jr., Paul Douglas Tesh, Thomas Wilhite Kendrick-Holmes, Kathryn Elizabeth Haynes, Kathryn Elizabeth Hall, Joseph Dimon Kendrick-Holmes, David Alexander Latham.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janey Katherine Haynes, and a son, David Earl Haynes.

Lilly Pearline “Pearl” Smith Patterson
Lilly Pearline “Pearl” Smith Patterson, 72, of Fowlkes, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at her residence. She was a retired business owner, and a Ridgely native.
Visitation was Thursday evening at Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg.
Services were at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mac Daniels officiating.
Pallbearers were Walter Hicks, Ronnie Cooper, David Lee, Alan Clark, Barry Wheeler, and Mark Ingram.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Burns, Ronnie Lowry, Gerald Wilson, Phil Cooper, Odell Epperson, and Paul Williams.
Burial was in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
She was born July 28, 1932, in Ridgely to the late Julia Scurlock Smith and Earl Smith.
She leaves a daughter, Diane Owens, of Sparks, Md.; two sons, Steve Clanton of Dyersburg of Earl Clanton of Newbern; a sister, Linda Johnson of Ridgely; a brother, Tony Smith of Kentucky; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Betty Jo Eddlemon Johnson
Betty Jo Eddlemon Johnson, 71, of Tiptonville, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Tiptonville, former owner of Betty Johnson’s Candy Kitchen, former manager of Reelfoot Airpark Inn Restaurant.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 11, at Curry’s Ridgely Chapel, with the Rev. Ernest Mayo officiating.
Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 3, 1934, to the late Virgie Carter Eddlemon and Clyde Cleo Eddlemon.
She married Earl Johnson, who preceded her in death.
Besides managing the Candy Kitchen and Airpark Inn Restaurant, she was a food service employee for 10 years at the Obion County General Hospital in Union City, and cafeteria manager at Lake County High School in Tiptonville.
She enjoyed catering, cooking and making candy.
She was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church.
She leaves two sons, Clyde Johnson and Earl S. Johnson, both of Tiptonville; two daughters, Ginger Johnson of Memphis and Jill Nester of Greeley, Colo.; a grandson, Scott Johnson of Tiptonville.

Troy Richard Trim
Troy Richard Trim, 83, of Tiptonville, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Ridgely Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ridgely. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II, a retired electrical engineer and computer technician.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Tiptonville City Cemetery, with the Rev. Andy Martin, pastor of First Baptist Church of Tiptonville, officiating.
Pallbearers were John Findley, Marty Vaughn, Dr. Cooper Sandusky, Jack Haynes Jr., David Perkins and Cooper Sandusky IV.
The coffin was draped with the United States flag.
He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Tipton County, Tenn., to the late Ora Jones Trim and William Earl Trim.
He was a Tiptonville High School graduate, and a 1943 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He served as a Lt. j.g. aboard the U.S.S. Claxton in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He later earned a Master’s degree.
He married Janice Stack, who preceded him in death.
After his years of engineer work, he later enjoyed using his expertise with the computer.
He returned to his hometown about five years ago after his worldwide travels.
He leaves a sister, Geneva Vaughn, of Tiptonville; a nephew, Marty Vaughn of Tiptonville; two nieces, Linda Kay Findley and Mona Sandusky, both of Memphis; five great-nephews, Robert Vaughn, Cooper Sandusky IV, Patrick Findley, Brian Findley and Mark Findley; four great-nieces, Laura Sandusky, Jennifer Sandusky, Kelli Sandusky, and Christine Sandusky; one great-great nephew, George Robert Vaughn.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit Trim.

Cynthia Lue Bargery Benthal
Cynthia Lue Bargery Benthal, 59, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at her residence. She was a former employee of the Wal-Mart Deli.
She was a native of Ridgely, and the wife of Jesse Benthal.
Visitation was Friday evening at Curry Funeral Home, Dyersburg.
Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Leonard Ballinger and Eddie Benthal officiating.
Pallbearers were Doug Wahls, Wally Childress, Tommy Ray, Tony Ray, Michael Brice, and Sonny Brice.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Keathley, Harrell Dorsey, Bro. Billy Brooks and Eric Markham.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery of Dyersburg.
She was born in Ridgely March 18, 1946, to the late Bertha J. Richardson Bargery and Ernest M. Bargery.
She was a high school graduate with two years of college.
She married Jesse Benthal, who survives.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and bowled for 25 years with the Mixed League on Friday nights.
She leaves her husband, Jesse Benthal Sr. of Dyersburg; two sons, Jesse Marcus Benthal Jr. of Newbern and James Ernest Benthal of Dyersburg; four sisters, Judy Childress of Bogota, Geneva Mauldin of Ridgely, Paulette McCullough of Newbern and Sara Ann Steineker of St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, Harold Bargery of Las Vegas, Nev., Ernest “Kip” Bargery of Dyersburg, Barry Bargery of Munford, and Gene “Buddy” Bargery of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Bargery and Wanda Hammack, and a brother, John Tate.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Shelton Rivers Parks
Shelton Rivers Parks, 84, died in his residence Thursday, May 12, 2005. He was a retired manufacturing plant maintenance man, an Army veteran of World War II, and the widower of Myrtis King Parks.
Visitation was Saturday evening at Curry’s Tiptonville Chapel.
Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Tiptonville, with the pastor, the Rev. Andy Martin, officiating. The music included, “How Great Thou Art”, “In the Garden”, and “Amazing Grace”.
Pallbearers were David Parks, Larry Parks, Billy Wayne Orr, Joe Lee Williams, Jerry Parks, and Jason Allison.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Bramlett, Jack Orr, Bubba Burris and Tinker Norris.
Burial was in Crockett Chapel Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Tiptonville, to the late Mattie Sanger Parks and Harris Richmond Parks.
He married Myrtis King, who preceded him in death.
He was inducted into the Army in October, 1942. In April, 1943, he was aboard the Luraline from Seattle, Wash., to Honolulu, Hi. Several times they were loaded for invasion, then were taken off the ship. They were stationed on several Hawaiian Islands for defense, and when the war ended with Japan were sent there to serve several months in the army of occupation. He was discharged in February, 1946.
After the war, he worked in the oil mill and bean mill at Tiptonville, farmed, and retired in 1986 from Sylvania at Dyersburg, where he worked for many years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tiptonville and the Reelfoot Civitan Club.
He leaves two daughters, Cathie Wesner of Union City and Christy Dotson of Hornbeak; a son, Shelton Robert Parks of Cordova; and four grandchildren, Philip Wesner, Jeremy Parks, Anna Jane Parks and John Parks.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Shelton Ricky Parks and Don Allen Parks; three sisters, Louise Watson, Rachel Beatty and Rovene Rupp; three brothers, Roland Parks, Ralph Parks, and Kermit Parks.

Millard Roberson
Graveside services for Millard Roberson of Michigan, formerly of Lake County, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at New Haven Cemetery of Ridgely. He died in Michigan on Feb. 19, 2005.
He was born in Lake County to the late Janie and Will Roberson.
He moved to Michigan in 1949, and went to work for the Chrysler Corporation, from which he retired.
He married Patricia Beck Roberson, who survives. He also leaves sisters-in-law, Blanche Roberson and Dezene Roberson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John and Lonnie Wildee, Sullivan Roberson and Emerson Roberson, and a sister, Sarah Roberson Cobean.

Linda Prince Parker
Linda Prince Parker, 53, of Jackson, formerly of Ridgely, died suddenly Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital of a heart attack. She was the wife of John E. Parker Jr., and former co-owner of a wholesale florist business in Jackson.
Visitation was Friday evening at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home of Jackson.
Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Charles L. Fillatreau and Minister David Powell officiating.
Burial was in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
She was born in Dyersburg to Johnnie Scott Prince and the late Elvin S. Prince of Ridgely.
She was a graduate of Tiptonville High School and attended Union University.
After the sale of their Jackson wholesale florist business, which they operated for many years, she traveled with and assisted her husband, who became a representative for a wholesale flower and gift company throughout the southeastern states.
She was an active member of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church.
She leaves her husband, John E. Parker Jr. of Jackson, and her mother, Mrs. Johnnie Prince of Ridgely.

Angie Ann Willard Kuykendall
Angie Ann Willard Kuykendall, 40, of Friendship, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at NHC Healthcare of Milan.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bellevernon Cemetery of Friendship, with the Rev. Lee Hatch Jr. officiating.
She was born March 29, 1963, in Dyersburg to Ann Driscoll Willard and Doyle Gene Willard.
She was a Baptist.
She leaves a son, Bradley Kuykendall, of Fort Benning, Ga.; her father and stepmother, Doyle and Roxie Willard of Dyersburg and her mother and stepfather, Ann and Ron Britt of Friendship; a brother, Terry Willard of Dyersburg and a sister, Tammy Bradish of Enon, Ohio; a granddaughter, Harley Madison Kuykendall, of Dyersburg.

Charles Junior Wiggins
Charles Junior Wiggins, 72, of Ridgely, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at his home. He was a retired farmer.
Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Phillippy Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Bramlett officiating. Jonathan Gooch and Keith Wiggins sang.
Pallbearers were Edmond Wiggins, Bobby Wiggins, Goble Wiggins Jr., Jonathan Gooch, Michael Warren and Wayne Irvin.
Christopher Hopper was honorary pallbearer.
Burial was in Lake Memorial Gardens near Reelfoot Lake, with Dyersburg Funeral Home in charge.
He was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Kentucky to the late Iva Suiter Wiggins and Charles Wiggins.
He married Lois Ann Hopper, who survives.
He attended Phillippy Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Lois Ann Wiggins of Ridgely; two sons, Christopher Hopper of Evansville, Ind., and Keith Wiggins of Ridgely; a brother, Goble Wiggins of Tiptonville; three grandchildren, Cody Dakota Hopper, Skylar Hopper and Kimberlee Hopper, all of Evansville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, J.W. Wiggins, Bruce Wiggins, and Edmond Wiggins.
