Mr. Tubby, 49, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in his home.
Survivors include his daughters, Rosa Tubby, Liana Tubby, Diana Willis, Denisa Willis and Juliana Willis; a son, Dalton Tubby; four sisters; one brother and four grandchildren.

Ms. Russell, 84, of Newton, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at Bedford Care of Newton. She was a retired beautician. She was a member of Newton United Methodist Church and will be greatly missed by the caretakers at Bedford Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dalton and Lelia Edeady Russell and a brother, Herschel Russell.
Betty Griffin Walton

UNION — Services for Betty Griffin Walton will be held today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Union with the Rev. Marcus Finch officiating. Burial will be in Union City Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walton, 100, of Jonesboro, Ark., formerly of Union, died at Craighead Nursing Center. She was born on Aug. 17, 1906, in Neshoba County. She had lived in Union since 1955 and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Harperville Boarding School Agricultural High School in Scott County and received her teaching certification in home economics after attending Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State A and M. After making her home in Union, she was employed by Midland Shirt Company until retirement. She was accomplished in all forms of handiwork, was an avid gardener and spent as much time as possible enjoying her favorite hobby, fishing.
Survivors include her son, George Walton and his wife, Linda; daughters, Mary Coleman and Jane Taylor and her husband, Scotty; grandchildren, Jenny, Melanie, Paul and Courtney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel W. Griffin; three brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Joe Cleveland, Dean Russell, Cupit McElhenney, Steve Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Gwen Taylor and Robert Wayne Carleton.
Honorary pallbearer will be Eddie Wolverton.
Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.

VICKSBURG — Services for Charles J. Irons will be held today at 2 p.m. at Bloomfield Methodist Church in Philadelphia with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Hill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Riles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Irons, 80, of Jefferson County, died Jan. 13, 2007, in Jefferson County. He was born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Alvin George Irons and Carrie Elizabeth “Lizzie” Phillips Irons. He served for more than 39 years in the Army National Guard and served three years active duty in World War II. He retired in 1990 from International Paper Company after more 23 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a founding member of the Blue Buck Hunting Club. He was a member of the W.H. Stevens Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Stepping Stone Baptist Church in Port Gibson.
Survivors include his wife, Karyn T. Irons of Port Gibson; daughters, Cathy Copeland and Kaye McDonald, both of Philadelphia, Gail Keith of Hollandale, Caroline Thomas and Renee Hawkins, both of Florence, Donna Carpenter of Vicksburg, Lisa Sentell and Jennifer Vogel, both of Houston, Texas; sons, Ronnie Irons, Charles E. Irons and Jeff Irons, all of Vicksburg, Donnie Irons of Clinton and Ricky Irons of Philadelphia; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, James Irons, Carthage.

Mr. Melton, 71, of Enterprise, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was retired from Southern Natural Gas Co. He was a member of Enterprise United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Melton; brothers, Cecil Melton and Steve Melton; a sister, Kay Creel, all of Enterprise and several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Lee Melton and Lena Edwards Melton; brothers, Jack Melton and Wilber Melton; a nephew, Allen Creel and a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Dearman.

Mrs. Ferguson, 92, of Meridian, formerly of Pontotoc, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Riley Hospital. She was a nurse for many years at Riley Hospital.

Mrs. Poythress, 80, of Meridian, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at Regency Hospital of Meridian. She was born on Dec. 7, 1926, to Wiley and Clara “Skip” Barfield Tucker. Mrs. Poythress will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and her church. Having worked in the nursery at Calvary Baptist Church for more 50 years. She touched the lives of hundreds of children and soothed many “fretting babies” as she sang, “Love Lifted Me” to them.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Thomas and her husband, Randy, of Meridian; granddaughters, Erica Pickard and her husband, Jerome, of Meridian and Amanda Thomas of Meridian; a sister, Margie “Kitty” Dunn of Meridian; nieces, Wanda Farr and her husband, George “Sonny” of Plano, Texas, Donna Vick and her husband, Larry, Gail McCraw, all of Meridian. Mr. Barnett, age 80 years, died at his New Orleans residence on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007.
