VANCEBORO - Mr. Daniel Webster Wiggins, 82, died Monday, October 15, 2001 at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, Vanceboro.
Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wiggins, a native of Craven County, was a lifelong resident of the Piney Neck community of Vanceboro. He was engaged in farming for all of his life. He was a member of Vanceboro Free Will Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Fillingame Wiggins; son, Milton Ray Wiggins and his wife, Sandra, of Vanceboro; daughter, Gloria Wiggins Wetherington and her husband, Larry, of Vanceboro; sister, Beulah Wetherington of Vanceboro; four grandchildren, LaDawn Wiggins McLawhorn, Amy Wiggins, Scott Wetherington, and Bridget Wiggins; and three great-grandchildren, Kristen Worthington, Jonathon McLawhorn and Matthew McLawhorn.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Vanceboro, and at other times will be at the home, 305 Wiggins Road, Vanceboro.

DUNN - Warren Briggs Culbreth, 75, of 802 Oakwood Ave., died Sunday at his residence.
He was a member of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II as a Machinist Mate Third Class. He was a member of Relief Lodge No. 431 of Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, SL USA, Wilmington, the Sudan Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of New Bern, Lou Parrish Order of Eastern Star No. 130, the Johnston County shrine Club, a member of the Animated Animals Shrine Unit, the VFW Post No. 6767, and the American Legion Post No. 59. He was also a member of the Second Baptist Church in Duun and was a security guard at Burlington Industries for 18 years.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Rameau and Jerome Pope officiating.
Burial in the Memorial Cemetery in Dunn with Masonic Rites.
He is survived by his widow, Dolly Morrison Culbreth of the home; one daughter, Debbie Culbreth Best of Dunn; one son, Warren B. Culbreth Jr. of New Bern; two sisters, Hazel Wages and Katheleen Culbreth of Falcon; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Cromartie Miller and Lee Funeral Home in Dunn and at other times at the home.

GREENVILLE - Lottie Hardy Baker of Greenfield Place Nursing Center, Greenville, died Monday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church of Aurora with Robert Cayton officiating.
Burial will be in Cuthrell Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Rufus E. Baker of Olney, Md., and Herman Earl Baker of Hohenwald, Tenn.; one daughter, Frances B. Alexander of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

Helen Marguerite Paulsen, 99, of New Bern died Sunday.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan, Mass., with the Rev. Jackson Smith officiating.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen Ferrin of New Bern; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MAYSVILLE - Christopher Scott Cannon, 26, died Sunday at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
He was a rehabilitation aide at the Howell Center in New Bern.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Maysville United Methodist Church with the Revs. E. L. Morton III and Robert Hall officiating.
He is survived by his brother, Paul G. Cannon of Havelock; father and stepmother, Pal and Pat Cannon of Morehead City; paternal grandmother, Mattie Cannon of Selma; and maternal grandfather, Bill Morris of Maysville.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. today at Sayland Funeral Home, Maysville.

DOVER - Milton Earl Jones Sr., 59, died Monday at his residence.
He was a machinist at Amitol Spinning and had served in the U.S. Army.
Funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m., at New Bern Church of God, with the Rev. David Salmins officiating.
Burial will be in Greenleaf Memorial Park.
He is survived by his widow, Sarah M. "Dot" Jones, of the home; two sons, Milton Jones Jr., of Cove City, and James O'Dell Purifoy, of Bridgeton; one daughter, Rhonda Jones Mari, of Midlothian, Va.; his mother, Mabel Wood Jones, of Dover; two brothers, William Whitty Jones, of Dover, and Duffy Ray Jones, of New Bern; two sisters, Della Estelle Tilghman, of Cove City, and Mable Lee Jenkins, of New Bern; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

WASHINGTON, N.C. - Mary Lee Parker Smith, 96, resident of Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home, Washington, N.C., died Saturday Feb. 2, 2002 at Ridgewood Manor.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. W.V. Pritchett officiating.
Burial will follow in Idalia Cemetery, Aurora, N.C. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen S. Young of Washington, N.C.; one brother, James O'Harold Parker of Kinston, N.C.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Minnie Lee Hill Findeisen Taylor, 72, of Oasis Rest Home died Wednesday, February 6, 2002, at the Oasis Rest Home in Four Oaks. She was formerly of Trenton and was owner/operator of the Trent Motel in Pollocksville. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Bern. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husbands, W.J. Findeisen and Elwood Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday evening, February 8, 2002 from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack Hinton officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Trenton City Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra F. Thomas and husband, Billy, of Fayetteville, Cathy F. Eubanks and husband, Dalton, of Grifton; her sister, Eula H. Roper of Kinston; five grandchildren, Sharlena Clay Thomas of Denver, Colorado, Jason Crane Thomas and wife, Joli, of Fayetteville, Jacob Raleigh Thomas and wife, Angela, of Richlands, Cathy Belinda Eubanks of Wilmington, Gary Ray Eubanks and wife, Annette, of Winterville; and three great-grandchildren, Rayven, Emma and James.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening immediately following the funeral service.

He is survived by one son, Richard Vasy and wife, Barbara, of Omaha, NE; and one daughter, Sandra McClinton and her husband, William, of New Bern; three brothers, Henry Vasy of Racine, WI, Louis Vasy and wife, Judy, of Racine, WI, and Art Vasy and wife, Shirley, of Virginia. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Steve and Julius Vasy. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Vasy of Racine, WI, and two sister-in-laws, Adeline and Marge Vasy of Racine, WI; and one grandchild, John Paul McClinton of New Bern.

She served her church as a member of the Stewardess Board No. 3, Senior Choir Sunshine Club and Home Missions. She retired from the Craven County School Systems as Cafeteria Manager at J.T. Barber School and Charles Taylor Daycare Center.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Clinton Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church with the Rev. R.P. McDougal officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
She is survived by her widow, Samuel Roberts of the home; one brother, William Thomas Jenkins of Augusta, Ga.; and one sister, Lovie Jenkins of New Bern.

Debra Theodora Parham, 47, of 2109 Grave Street, Pembroke community died Monday at Craven Regional Medical Center.
She was employed with the Craven County School System at New Bern High School and Trent Park Elementary School. She was vice president of the Usher Board and Youth Class Leader and a member of the Wesleyan Choir at Clinton Chapel Church. She was a 1972 graduate of J.T. Barber/New Bern High Schools, New Bern.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clinton Chapel A.M.E.Z. Church with the Rev. R.P. McDougal officiating.
Burial will be in the New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her mother, Annie R. Parham of the home; three brothers, Richard Thomas Staten of New Bern, Robert Parham Jr. of Hillside, Ill., J'Allen Staten of New Bern; and three sisters, Edith S. Spencer and Carol P. Wallace of New Bern, and Cordelia P. Miller of Kalamazoo, Mich.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Norman W. Bennett, 73, died Friday.
He was a native of New Bern and retired after 20 years in the U.S.A.F.
Graveside service with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Barker officiating.
He is survived by his children, Vicki McMichael and Bruce Bennett of Kalamazoo, Mich.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

James Moseley Chesnutt, Jr., 81, of New Bern died Jan. 21 at Craven Regional Medical Center.
He served with the United States Air Force during WWII and was discharged (Honorably) on January 24, 1946. Mr. Chesnutt was formerly a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, NC; transferred his membership to the First Presbyterian Church of New Bern, NC. He was married to Ruth Wilkes Chesnutt until her death in 1986.
Graveside services will be Wed. Jan. 24, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
He is survived by two sons, James M. Chesnutt, III of Raleigh and his wife Margaret and Marcus Wilkes Chesnutt of New Bern and his wife Alice (Sissy); four grandchildren, Kristen Chesnutt and Katie, both of Raleigh, and Parker Bryant Chesnutt and Marcus Holman Chesnutt both of New Bern.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
