Pruitt
Madeline Jewell Pruitt, age 77, died Saturday, June 3, 2000 at her home in Damascus.
Mrs. Pruitt was born in Saltville, a daughter of the late George Wiley and Lollie Blanche Stuart and had lived most of her life in Damascus.
She was of the Baptist faith and was the widow of Jess R. Pruitt Sr. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Stuart, Claude Stuart and Jimmy Stuart; and a sister, Ruth Neeley.
Surviving are three sons, Ted Pruitt of Charleston, S.C., Jess R. "Junior" Pruitt Jr., of Cocoa, Fla., and David Pruitt of Johnson City, Tenn.; five daughters, Doris Ann Manuel of Shady Valley, Tenn., Coleen Jones of Abingdon, Teresa Pennington of Damascus, Anita Odum of Glade Spring, and Lynn Pruitt of Mountain City, Tenn.; three sisters, Myrtle Olson of South San Francisco, Alice Pruitt of Wisconsin and Gracie Urbani of Bristol; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 5, at 8 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel with Pastor Robert Griffin Jr. officiating. Committal services were held Tuesday, June 6, at 2 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Park.
Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon was in charge of arrangements.

Testerman
William "Bill" Stewart Testerman Sr., age 72, of Bel Air, Md., died Monday, June 5, 2000 in Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
Mr. Testerman was a retired cement truck driver for Maryland Redi-Mix. He was a longtime member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his former wife, Elizabeth "Libby" M. Testerman; two daughters, Norma Jean Byrd of Westfield, N.C., and Donna Mae Sargable of Conowingo, Md.; five sons, David James Testerman and Donald Edward Testerman, both of Conowingo, Md., William Stewart Testerman Jr. of Aberdeen, Md., Michael Guy Testerman of Baltimore, Md., and Roger Dale Testerman of Essex, Md.; three sisters, Bet Bilee of Edgewood, Md., Pat Bedwell of Aberdeen, Md., and Irene Medley of Marion; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church in Darlington, Md., with the Rev. Donnie Cogdill and the Rev. Curtis Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Darlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the church.
Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Md., is in charge of arrangements.

West
Sue M. West, age 61, of Randleman, N.C., died Sunday, June 4, 2000 in Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, N.C.
Mrs. West was a native of Marion and was retired from Guilford Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald West.
Surviving are two daughters, Jo Beth Adkins, Randleman, N.C., and Hope West, Burlington, N.C.; two sons, Billy Mink, Reidsville, N.C., and David Mink, Randleman, N.C.; two sisters, Virginia W. Totten, Marion, and Lucy Chambers, Guntersville, Ala.; one brother, Charles Wymer, Marion; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 9, at 3 p.m. in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro, N.C., with the Rev. Gearldean Upchurch officiating.
Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.

Armstrong
Charles P. Armstrong Sr., died Thursday, June 8, 2000 in Monroe, Ga.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Kitty) Stone, Jewel Ridge, and Mrs. Roy (Patricia) Baldwin of Marion; two sons, Larry D. Armstrong, Marion, and Charles P. Armstrong Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Jenkins, Mrs. Henry (Ovella) Griffey, and Dela Powell; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Hartville, Mo.

Jones
George Willis Jones, age 74, died Thursday, June 8, 2000 in the Smyth County Community Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel Thomas Jones; three daughters, Helen M. Hanshew, Reba S. Flurnoy, and Ruth A. Cregger, all of Marion; two sons, Harold L. Jones, and James E. Jones, both of Marion; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, June 10, at 11 .am. in Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Interment followed in the Zion Cemetery.
Bradley’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lee
William Roger "Choppy" Lee, age 54, died Thursday, June 8, 2000 at the Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mr. Lee was a former construction worker. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Tootsie Lowe and Ruby Terry.
Surviving are two sons, William Roger "Mote" Lee Jr., Sugar Grove, and George David "Blue" Lee, Saltville; one stepson, Brick Yontz, Akron, Ohio; two brothers, George "Jimmy" Lee, Saltville, and Franklin "Chester" Lee, Chilhowie; five sisters, Polly Borders, Pat Gillespie, both of Saltville, Gary McElraft, Bristol, Peggy Jones, Bristol, Tenn., and Emma Bowman, Kingsport, Tenn.; two daughters-in-law, Stephanie Lee and Nancy Lee; a special friend, Gracie Bowman, Marion; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted today, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville is in charge of arrangements.

Snider
Thelma Anders Snider, age 71, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at her home in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Mrs. Snider was born Dec. 6, 1928 in Smyth County, to the late James Monroe Anders and Lockie Marie Jones Anders. She was a member of Glenn View Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband William "Buster" Snider who died in 1990 after retiring from McLean Trucking Co. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gindy Dawn Snider, a brother, Elmer Anders, and a sister, Helen Brandt.

Surviving are two daughters, Debbie S. Boone and Angela D. Wilson and husband Donald, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sons, William Michael Snider and special friend Diane Howard of Walnut Cove, N.C., Lonnie Ray Snider and wife Renee of Lexington, N.C.; two brothers, James Anders and wife Eunice of Pasadena, Md., Tommy Anders and wife Margaret of Marion; four sisters, Hazel Blevins and husband Charlie of Rural Retreat, Dorothy Dillman and husband Clifton of Marion, Gladys Groseclose of Wytheville, and Irene Crigger of Piney Flats, Tenn.; five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Glenn View Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul W. Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Barrett
Roy McKee Barrett, age 71, of Tannersville, died Friday, June 9, 2000 at the Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mr. Barrett was a member of the Tannersville Church of Christ, a lifelong resident of Tannersville, and a retired farmer.
Surviving are one sister, Maggie Taylor, Manassas; one sister-in-law and friend, Doris L. Barrett, Tannersville; special nieces and nephews, Neil Barrett and Mae Lamie, both of Tannersville, and Sara Lamie of Saltville; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at the Tannersville Church of Christ with the Rev. Troy Allen officiating. Burial followed at the Caldwell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tannersville Rescue Squad or Fire Department.

Blevins
Luna Pearl Blevins, age 90, died Saturday, June 10, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Miller and Okie James, both of Marion; one son-in-law, Andy Walls of Marion; four grandchildren, Ronnie James, Gary James, Regina Reeves and Billy Whitt; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Joe Powers officiating. Burial followed in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Chilhowie.
Seaver-Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Boone
Kyle Clayton Boone, age 67, of Weaverville, N.C., died Friday, June 9, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1932 in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late William Kyle and Irvel Elizabeth Lowry Boone. He was a graduate of Oak Hill Academy in Virginia and served in the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean Conflict.
He received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Virginia Tech and was registered to practice in 10 states and the Virgin Islands. He was a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), the Construction Specification Institute (CSI), and the American Institute of Architects.
Mr. Boone came to Asheville, N.C., in 1963 as an apprentice with the firm of Six Associates and he began his own practice, Boone Associates, in 1967. He was also a licensed real estate agent and licensed general contractor. He also helped pioneer the development of low income housing for senior citizens in WNC.
Mr. Boone was appointed by President Reagan to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences and by Gov. James Martin to the North Carolina Energy Task Force. He also served as an appointee to the Southeast Region of HUD. Among his club affiliations, he was a 32nd Degree member of the Marion Masonic Lodge and was also a member of Weaverville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Helen Kirk Boone; three daughters, Kyla Boone Fain of Asheville, N.C., Helen Elizabeth Boone of Weaverville, N.C., and Kathleen Clair Boone of Charleston, S.C.; one son, Kirk Clayton Boone of Weaverville, N.C.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Boone VanHoy of Fredricksburg, and Donna Boone Lewis of Asheville; a half brother, William K. Boone Jr., of Virginia Beach; 15 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, at 6 p.m. in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony M. Dowdy officiating. Graveside rites were held Tuesday, June 13, at 6 p.m. at Zion Cemetery in Marion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ThyCa Inc. (Thyroid Cancer Survivors Assn.), P.O. Box 1545, New York, N.Y. 10159-1545.

Ella Isabell Coe, age 81, of Chilhowie, died Saturday, June 10, 2000 at the Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Coe was the widow of George Wilson Coe and attended the First Church of God in Chilhowie.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Richard "Eleanor" Snow, Chilhowie; one son and daughter-in-law, Franklin E. and Ruth Coe, Roanoke; two granddaughters, Kathy Snow Wright, Chilhowie, and Lynn Coe Gilliam, Cades, N.C.; one grandson, Michael Snow, Exton, Penn.; four great-granddaughters, Paige and Caitlin Wright, both of Chilhowie, Faith Wright Harris, Marion, and Ashley Snow, Exton, Penn.; one great-grandson, Gabe Snow, Exton, Penn.; one sister, Magdelene Peake, Greenville, S.C.; one brother, W.H. Buck Tuell, Chilhowie.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 12, at 6 pm,. at the First Church of God in Chilhowie with the Rev. Bobby Dunn officiating. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, June 13, at 11 a.m. in the Mount Rose Cemetery.
Newberry Funeral Home in Chilhowie was in charge of arrangements.
