Graveside services for Sharon L. Danker, 69, of Sachse, were held July 25, 2003, at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Hal Hinckley officiated.
Mrs. Danker died July 22 in Garland.
She was born Aug. 6, 1933 in Jamestown, Iowa to Fred and Clara Burr.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and June Danker; three grandchildren, Stephanie Korger and Adam and Tiffanie Danker; two great-grandchildren, Lyndon Ray and Mason Keith Korger; four brothers, James, Ron, Don and Fred Burr, Jr.; six sisters, Donna Nettles, Mary Stoner, June Powers, Betty Holloway, Wanda Sowell and Bonnie Bauer.

Lena Mae Yarbrough Nelson
Funeral services for Lena Mae Yarbrough Nelson were held July 22, 2003, at Restland Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at Restland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nelson, 88, of Copeville, died July 16. She was born July 5, 1915.
She was the great-granddaughter of William Sachse, founder of Sachse. She spent her early childhood in Sachse, before moving to Plano where she attended school, and met her husband, Noel. The couple lived and farmed in west Plano, later moving to Farmersville where they continued farming until 1996.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Plano, and a member of the Old Settlers Organization of Plano. She was one of 10 children.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Noel G. Nelson, Jr. and Barbara; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Joel Bonner and Betty and Vince Zotkiewicz; one grandson, Brett Nelson Christian; two great-grandsons, Connor and Cole Christian; and two sisters, Lucille Housewright of Granbury and Lillie Carter of Plano.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Noel G. Nelson; and a son, James Nelson.

Jesse S. ‘Hoss’ Watkins
Graveside services for Jesse S. ‘Hoss’ Watkins, 86, of Wylie, were held July 26, 2003, at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Chapel in Farmersville.
Interment followed at Thompson Cemetery in Copeville.
Mr. Watkins died July 23 at his residence in Wylie.
He was born January 7, 1917 in Lavon to Vol and Cora Taggott Watkins. He married Flora P. Turner on June 23, 1934 in Farmersville. Mr. Watkins was a supervisor for Santa Fe Railroad.
He is survived by two sons, Winston and Jesse E. Watkins, both of Wylie; sister, Corry V. Watkins of Montgomery; brother, Son Watkins of Livingston. Mr. Watkins is also survived by seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mattie Margaret Hatfield
Funeral services for Mattie Margaret Hatfield, 75, of Wylie, were held July 29, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Wylie.
Dr. A.L. Draper officiated.
Mrs. Watkins died July 25 at her residence in Wylie.
She was born Feb. 17, 1928 in Bennett, Ark. to John Henry and Sara Lynette (Fugate) Hamlett. She was married to John R. Hatfield on Dec. 31, 1946 in Morley. Mo. Mrs. Hatfield was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wylie.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, John Hatfield of Wylie; daughters, Johnanna Hatfield Rowland of Milton, Fla. and Jackie Elmore of Plano; mother, Sarah L. Hamlett of Selma, Ala.; sisters, Flora Jean Tyler of Selma, Ala. and Beverly Madonia of Mechanicsville, Va.; brother, Derald Edward Hamlett of Plano, and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, John H.Hamlett; daughter, Carol Lynn Strange; two sisters, Virginia Lee Finney and Dororthy Hines; and two brothers, John Henry Hamlett and Donald Ross Hamlett.

James Thomas “Tom” Cox
Graveside services for James Thomas “Tom” Cox, 41, of Wylie, were held July 28, 2003, at the Pauley Cemetery in Winthrop, Ark. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in DeQueen, Ark.
Leon Klitz officiated.
Mr. Cox died July 23 in Baylor Medical Center of Garland. He was a server at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Dallas and was well known throughout the food service industry for his high standard of excellence and professionalism.
Survivors include his parents, Philip and Jama Bush Cox of Bigelow, Ark.; two brothers, Philip “Tracy” Cox III of Little Rock, Ark. and Jon Paul Cox of Wylie; one niece, Sonya Rae Cox; two nephews, John Paul Cox II and Derick Allen Cox; and a number of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Birt and Gertrude Bush and his paternal grandparents, Philip and Addie Cox.

Juanita Havens Bufford
Funeral services for Juanita Havens Bufford were held July 26, 2003, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment followed at IOOF Cemetery in Farmersville. Arrangements were under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
Pastor Randy Morlan officiated.
Mrs. Bufford died July 22, 2003.
She was born Jan. 17, 1921 in Como, to Homer Edward Havens and Lena Gregory Havens. She graduated from High School in Farmersville and later attended North Texas State Teacher’s College in Denton. In December 1941 she married James Virgil Bufford of Farmersville. She worked as a medical secretary at the Veterans Administration Hospital with the Defense Contract Administration Region in Dallas; retiring in 1983 with over 35 years of federal service to her country. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKinney; having worked with her first graders in Sunday School for more than 33 years. She loved square dancing and playing bridge and was very good in both.
Survivors include her sister, Marty Godwin of Groves; brother, Bill Havens of Shreveport, La,; son, Michael Bufford of San Antonio; daughter, Pamela Bufford of Merrian, Kan.; and grandson, Jason Bufford of San Antonio.
The family will always be grateful to the Ryburn Nursing Home in Dallas and the ManorCare Babcock Nursing Home in San Antonio for their loving and respectful care.
Mrs. Bufford was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 7610 N. Stemmons Freeway, Ste. 600; Dallas, Texas 75247.

Gladys Irene Knapp
Graveside services for Gladys Irene Knapp, 92, of Marietta, Okla., were held July 17, 2003, at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, Okla.
The Rev. James Watson officiated.
Arrangements were under direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home in Marietta.
Mrs. Knapp died July 14 in Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore, Okla.
She was born Sept. 11, 1910 in Leon, Okla. to John Robert and Lillie Hearron Campbell. She lived most of her life in Courtney, Okla. and Duncan, Okla.
A 1929 graduate of Zaneis High School, she received a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern State College in Durant, Okla. She taught school at Courtney and Duncan, retiring after 38 years.
Mrs. Knapp was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore, Okla. She and her husband spent much of their time assisting elderly individuals in the church congregation.
She also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include one son, Roy Knapp of Comanche, Okla.; two daughters, Georgia Anne Ward of Wylie and Dorothy Hames of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Elva Kerley and Margaret Stewart of Marietta, Okla.; two special sisters by marriage, Juanita Nicodemus of Ardmore, Okla. and Rozelle Campbell of Marietta, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Karen Sanders, Mark Ward, Paula Feld, Deryl Knapp, Cheryl Deeaton, Dickie Hames, Randy Hames and Ronnie Hames; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clark Lowe in June 1940; her second husband, Victor Knapp in July 1989; three brothers, Jim Campbell, Larkin Campbell and Bob Campbell; and two sisters, Jo Walker and Mary Lou Campbell.

Adon DeLoera
Funeral services for Adon DeLoera, 32, of Colorado City, were held July 22 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Burial followed at Mitchell County Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home of Colorado City.
Mr. Deloera died July 18 in a Colorado City area hospital.
He was born Oct. 11, 1970, in Colorado City to Thomas and Virginia Luera DeLoera. He worked in road construction as was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Christina Mendoza of Wylie; daughter, Deseae DeLoera of Wylie; son, Damian Adon Deloera of Wylie; parents, Thomas and Virginia DeLoera of Colorado City; three brothers, Tommy (and his wife, Liz) of Snyder, Ray (and wife, Linda) of Boerne and Manuel (and his wife, Alicia) of Loraine; three sisters, Lisa (and her husband, Craig) Randolph of Snyder, Janie (and her husband, Steve) Kiser of Nevada and Mary Anne (and her husband, Marty) Davila of Colorado City; and several nieces and nephews.

Rhonda Dianne Cook Cooper
Funeral services for Rhonda Dianne Cook Cooper, 40, of Copeville, were held July 2, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Lavon.
Interment followed at Cana Cemetery in Canton. Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.
The Rev. Clint Bratcher officiated.
Ms. Cooper died June 28 at her home.
She was born July 5, 1962 in Dallas.
Survivors include her son, Randon Cooper of Copeville; mother and step-father, Jerrye and Jerry Fussell of Nevada, Tex,; father, Frank D. Cook of Canton; brother, Russell Frank Cook; grandparents, J.T. and Jean Magness of Corsicana and Florence Derovo of Canton; aunt, Joan Gipon and husband, Jim Gipon, of Dallas; cousins, Rodney Thomas of Hattiesburg, Miss., Tonya Thomas of Hattiesburg, Miss., Jana Pulaski of Plano and Brett Pulaski of Plano, and many more loved ones and friends.

Helen Irene Grubb
Funeral services for Helen Irene Grubb, 85, of Wylie, will be held July 10, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Wylie.
Interment will follow at Wylie Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Allen Funeral Home.
Dr. A.L. Draper, the Rev. Ray Richey and the Rev. Allen Stroud will officiate.
Mrs. Grubb died July 5 at her home.
She was born July 19, 1917 in Kansas City, Kan. to Virgil James and Glenora Lois (Stephens) Bradford.
She was retired from Jenkins Music Company in Kansas City, Mo., and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wylie where she had been the organist for 21 years.
Survivors include son, Larry Grubb of Midlothian; daughter, Nan Yarbrough of Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Jenny Godfrey of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of church family.

Linda Sherrill Recer
Graveside services for Linda Sherrill Recer, 65, of Dallas, were held July 7, 2003, at Thompson Cemetery in Copeville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
The Rev. Richard Moore officiated.
Mrs. Recer died July 5 at her home.
She was born Nov. 30, 1937 in Coleman to George Blair and Azilee (Griswald) Monpat.
Survivors include children, Mark Recer and Tommy Greer, both of Mesquite, Bobby Greer of Las Vegas, Nev., Le Anne (Recer) Bannister of Quinlan and Lisa Buck of Terrell; mother, Lee Monpat of Nevada, Texas.; sister, Glenda Walters of Copeville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ross Paradise
Funeral services for Ross Paradise, of Wylie, were held July 5. 2003 at Lucas Christian Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.
Mr. Paradise died June 30.
He retired from the newspaper and advertising field in 1998 and was presently employed with the Wylie Independent School District. He was also a volunteer at Scottish Rite Hospital, and other charities.
He is survived by his son Ross Paradise Jr. of Beachwood, N.J.; daughters, Lynn Skorenko of Eatontown, N.J. and Cheryl Santangelo of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Joseph Paradise of Lakeland, Fla.; sister, Camille Farrow of Westfield, N.J.; four grandchildren, Robert, Nicole, Kenny and Christine and four step-children.
Mr. Paradise was preceded in death by his wife Lois.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219-3993.

E.S. Wheeler
Funeral services for E.S. Wheeler, 88, of Sachse, will be held today, July 9, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Sachse.
Interment will follow at Sachse Cemetery. Dr. John Wheeler will officiate.
Mr. Wheeler died July 5 in Plano. He was retired from Davis-Hawn Lumber Company in Oak CLiff after 53 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Wheeler; three sons, Mike Wheeler, John Wheeler and Don Wheeler; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Randall, Bill, John, Chris, Lance and Travis; four great-grandchildren; brother, James Wheeler, and sister, Velma McLeroy.

Jordan Paul Mantooth
Funeral services for Jordan Paul Mantooth were held July 3, 2003, in the McKinney Fellowship Bible Church with the Rev. Stan Fike officiating.
Interment followed at Altoga Cemetery.
Arrangements were under direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of McKinney.
Jordan, 17, of McKinney, died June 27 in Dallas, the result of a car accident in Princeton.
He was born Nov. 20, 1985, in Paris, Texas, to Hugh Mantooth and Elizabeth O’Dea.
He attended Faith Baptist Church in Princeton. He was a student at Princeton High School where he was the starting point guard for the PHS Panther basketball team.
He is survived by his father, Hugh Mantooth; mother, Elizabeth O’Dea; sisters, Erin Ashley Mantooth and Whitney Paige Mantooth, all of Princeton; grandparents, Charles H. Mantooth of Aledo, and Itsuko Mantooth of Raleigh, N.C.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bobby E. Simmons
Funeral services for Bobby E. Simmons, 68, of Wylie, were held June 25, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Wylie.
Dr. A.L. Draper officiated.
Interment followed at Wylie Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
Mr. Simmons died June 23 at his home after a short illness.
He was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Clear Lake to James Madison and Winnie Louise (Benson) Simmons. He married the former Margaret Sue White on June 24, 1955 in Wylie.
He was retired from Trans Logic, Inc. where he had been a foreman for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Simmons of Wylie; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Chester Simmons, James M. Simmons, Kenneth Simmons and Willie D. Strickland; and his grandparents, Mattie and William Benson.

William Glenn Harris
Memorial services for William Glenn Harris, 43, of Wylie, were held June 25, 2003, at the Allen Funeral Home in Wylie.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.
The Rev. Travis Waters officiated.
Mr. Harris died June 22 in Rowlett.
He was born July 22, 1959, in Vernon to Frank and Glenda (Wilson) Harris.
He was a photo lab tech for Texas Instruments and a member of the First Christian Church in Plano.
Survivors include his sons, Kenneth Harris of Wylie and Christopher Harris of Carrollton; parents, Frank and Glenda Harris of Wylie; and brothers, Doug Harris of San Antonio and Gary Harris of Haslet.

Robert L. Scott
Funeral services for Robert L. Scott, 76, of Wylie, were held this morning, July 2, 2003, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwall.
The Rev. Dwayne Crain officiated.
Interment followed at Wylie Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
Mr. Scott died June 28 at his home.
He was born April 22, 1927, in Hillsboro to L.A. and Rosie Lee (Fennel) Scott. He was married to the former Naomie West on March 29, 1952 in Vernon.
Survivors include his wife, Naomie Scott of Wylie; daughter, Rita Elsler of Wylie; sons, Robert Scott of Rowlett, Grady Scott of Bridgeport and David Scott of Dallas; sister, Dorothy Michael of Vernon; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Scott and two sisters, Louise Kemp and Lois Candon.

Michael Earl Gordon
Michael Earl Gordon, 55, died June 18, 2003, from a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Ella Gordon.
He was born Aug. 21, 1947. He grew up in Oak Cliff where he attended James Bowie Elementary and and graduated from Adamson High School in 1965.
He has been a resident of Wylie since 1981. He retired from Rockwell International in 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Tricia, and two sons, Daniel Taylor and Joey Taylor; aunt and uncle and cousins of Corsicana and many, many friends.
Funeral services were held June 20 at the First Baptist Church of Wylie. Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.

Violet Lorene Collins
Funeral services for Violet Lorene Collins, 83, of Wylie, were held June 22, 2003, at Cottonwood Church of Christ.
Minister Jim Hatcher officiated with interment following at Wylie Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
Mrs. Collins died June 19 in Wylie.
She was born April 25, 1920, in Gunter to Jim Wheeler and Emma Lee (Simmons) Farrington. She was a retired beautician and owner of her own beauty shop.
She was a member of the Cottonwood Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Roddy Housewright and her husband, John, of Wylie; sons, William (Bill) Leslie Collins Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Wylie and Wendell Charles Collins of Wylie; grandchildren, Greg Roddy of Dallas, Steve Roddy and his wife, Gay, of Van Alstyne, Leighann Johnson and her husband, Justin, of Wylie, Amanda Collins of Wylie, Clayton Collins of Wylie, Mckenzie Collins of Wylie and Logan Collins of Wylie; great grandchildren, Madison Roddy of Van Alstyne and Holly Roddy of Van Alstyne; nephew, Don Farrington of Borger; nieces, Paula Glass and her husband, Bob, of Woodland Park, Colo., Edwina Collins Cook and her husband, Bruce, of Blue Ridge, and Charlane Collins Dew and her husband, David, of Wylie.
Pallbearers were Greg Roddy, Steve Roddy, Justin Johnson, Clayton Collins, Logan Collins and J.C. Feagins.
