MILLERSBURG - Ralph E. Muggio, 74, of 560 Bowman Street, died June 4 at his residence.
Born Jan. 15, 1933 in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Cataldo and Violet Dressler Muggio.
He was retired from Bethlehem Steel.
He was a member St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millersburg, American Legion No. 326, Millersburg VFW No. 5507, Susquehanna Lodge No. 364 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory and Millersburg Golf Association at Harrisburg North.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph and a sister, Lois Buechle.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Owen Muggio; a daughter, Tommye Margerum of Halifax; two stepdaughters, Mary Beth Baker of Mechanicsville, Va. and Jennifer Waltz of Carlisle; four sisters, Kathryn Rothermel of Lebanon and Sabelle Baker, Janet Chubb and Fairlee Midge Underkoffler, all of Millersburg; and three brothers, Thomas James of Millersburg, Larry of Williamstown and Harold of York.
Services were held June 7 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.

GRATZ - Clarence Harry Welker, 79, of 109 Welker Lane, died June 6 at his residence.
Born Nov. 3, 1927 in Lykens Twp., he was the son of the late Harry E. and Elverda Kissinger Welker.
He was a 1946 graduate of Hegins Twp. High School.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
He worked as a farmer.
He was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church in Gratz, a charter member of the Gratz Lykens Twp. VFW Post 2385, Gratz Area Antique Machinery Association, lifetime member of the Gratz Fire Co. and a member of the Gratz Fair Board. He also was the former tax collector for Lykens Twp.
He was the widower of Lillian Alice Shade Welker.
Surviving are two sons, Ricky E. Welker and Harry E. Welker, both of Gratz; three sisters, Helen Yergo of Elizabethville, Arlayne Kobel of Gratz and Hannah Klinger of Halifax; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 9 at Simeon United Lutheran Church. Burial was at Gratz Union Cemetery.

HALIFAX - Gladys M. Shade, 83, of Creek Drive, died June 6 at the Osteopathic General Hospital in Harrisburg.
Born July 22, 1923 in Jackson Twp., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Carrie Webster Hoffman.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Halifax.
She was the widow of Russell W. Shade. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Spangler, three bothers, Paul, Fred and Floyd Hoffman and a grandson.
Surviving are a daughter, Karolyn Saul of Halifax; three sisters, Shirley Warfel of Halifax, Grace Byerly of Halifax and Marie Erdman of Millersburg; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 11 at Hoover Funeral Homes in Elizabethville. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in Halifax.

NORTHUMBERLAND - Bertha A. Gonsar, 90, formerly of Trevorton, died June 7 at Nottingham Village Nursing Center.
Born June 6, 1917 in Berrysburg, she was the daughter of the late Arden E. and Anna M. Shaffer Radel.
She was a graduate of Berrysburg High School.
She retired as a seamstress from the Dalmatia Blouse Company.
She was a member of Zion Stone Valley Church in Hickory Corners and the Herndon Senior Action Center.
She was the widow of Lee E. Gonsar. She also was preceded in death in by a son, Terry L. Gonsar, three sisters, Mabel P. Henninger, Edna J. Radel and Sylvia L. Dockey and four brothers, Harry W., Franklin E., Arthur R. and Mark T. Radel.
Surviving are a son, Dale Gonsar of Herndon RR; two sisters, Martha M. Hoover of Mechanicsburg and Leah S. Weaver of Elizabethville; two brothers, Paul H. Radel of Dauphin and Dean W. Radel of Florida; and three grandchildren.
Services were held June 11 at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home. Burial was at Northumberland Memorial Park Cemetery in Stonington.

Larry G. Tice
PITMAN - Larry G. Tice, 67, of 62 Main Road, died June 8 at his residence.
Born May 27, 1940 in Pitman, he was the son of the late Wilbert and Naomi Klinger Tice.
He was a 1958 graduate of Upper Dauphin High School, attended the University of Maryland, Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., received a degree from Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, Calif., graduated from Penn State University and received a degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
He was a retired captain in the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of the Vietnam war.
He was a life member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church of Pitman where he was a member of the official board and served as a trustee, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and superintendent.
He was instrumental in organizing Boy Scout Troop No. 652 in Pitman where he was a scoutmaster, a member of the Hawk Mountain Boy Scout Council, life member of the Diamond Jubilee Post No. 2385 VFW of Lykens Twp., a member of the Mahantongo Fire Co. of Pitman, Mahantongo Valley Ambulance Association and served as auditor for Eldred Twp. He received the Citizen of the Year award from the Hegins-Valley View Rotary Club in 2005.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Franklin Scott and a sister, Doris Heim.
Surviving are his wife, Joann Wagner Tice; two daughters, Karen Gregory of Tucson, Ariz. and Brenda Rockwell of Lancaster; a sister, Dawn Huntzinger of Halifax; two brothers, James Tice of Apopka, Fla. and Dennis Tice of Palmyra; and two grandchildren.
Services were held June 12 at the Zion E.C. Church. Burial was at Zion E. C. Cemetery in Pitman.

HALIFAX - Larry L. Leese, 67, of 767 North River Road, died June 8 at his residence.
Born July 19, 1939 in Valley View, he was the son of the late Harry and Christina Klouse Leese.
He was retired from ADM Milling in Camp Hill.
He was a member of Millersburg American Legion No. 326 and the Valley View and Short Mountain gun clubs.
He was the widower of Geraldine E. Leese. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Daryll and Bryan.
Surviving are two daughters, Kelli Zerby of Halifax and Krystal Boyer of Millersburg; two brothers, Terry of Valley View and Rick of Tower City; a sisters, Rochelle Smith of Valley View; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at Matamoras Community Church. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax.

She graduated from the Geisinger Medical School of Nursing.
She was a retired registered nurse from Susquehanna Lutheran Village in Millersburg.
She was a member of the Valley's United Church of Christ in Halifax, member of past worthy matron of OES Glen Chapter No. 425 in Lykens and Amaranth Court No. 134.
Surviving are a son, Preston of Canon City, Mo.; two daughters, Ann Long of Halifax and Karen Kocher of Millersburg; a sister, Jane Derr of Virginia; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday, June 17 at 1 p.m. at Hoover Funeral Homes in Millersburg.

Born Sept. 29, 1923 in Wiconisco, he was the son of the late Philip and Anna Morris Jones.
He was a 1941 graduate of Wiconisco High School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II.
He was retired from the federal government at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Ga.
He was the widower of Margaret Barkus.
Surviving are three sons, Robert, Jr. of Grayson, Ga., Terry of Warner Robins, Ga. and Craig of Gary, Ga.; a daughter, Donna of Enterprise, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 19 at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins, Ga.

MILLERSBURG - Harold C. Smith, 81, formerly of Lykens, died June 14 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg.
He was born in Filbert, W.V.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He worked at P.P.&G. Industries in Harrisburg, retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Lykens and Don's Food Rite in Lykens.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Millersburg, Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 in Lykens and Gratz V.F.W. Post No. 2385.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline A. Smith; a daughter, Anita Clemens of Millersburg; a sister, Mildred D. Smink of Lykens; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.
Services were held June 18 at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home. Burial was at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery in Wiconisco.

ELIZABETHVILLE - Jean A. Miller, 71, of Wilhour Road, died June 19 at her home.
Born Feb. 12, 1936 in Halifax Twp. she was the daughter of the late Norman W. Patton and Freda Miller Welker.
She was a retired supervisor for the state government in Harrisburg.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Elizabethville, the Upper Dauphin Democratic Women's Committee, the local election board in Elizabethville and the Hidden Valley Camp Group in Mifflinburg.
She was the widow of Bruce E. Miller. She also was preceded in death by a son, Baby Boy Miller.
Surviving are a son, George F. of Millersburg; a daughter, Stephanie Wynn of Elizabethville; a brother, Larry Welker of Lykens; three sisters, Grace Scott of Swedesboro, N.J., Esther Long of Halifax and Evelyn Matter of Halifax; and five grandchildren.

He was a W.W. II Army Air Corps Veteran.
He was a retired quality inspector with the federal government.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Williamstown and a life member of the Williamstown American Legion.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Pauline M. Adams Challenger; three sons, Mark V. Jr. of Williamstown, William G. of Florida and Patrick M. of New Orleans; two brothers, John and Bernard, both of Williamstown; three sisters, Mary Kemp of Lancaster, Catherine Ahrens of Florida and Helen O'Boyle of Reading; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Born Sept. 3, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Clair Elroy Miller and Margaret Elizabeth Hersch Miller.
She was a 1949 graduate of McPherson College and earned a master's degree from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
She worked as a school and reference librarian and research director for the Anderson family trusts.
Surviving are her husband, R. E. Anderson; a son, Roger; a daughter, Linda Penelope; and a brother Rev. Richard Millers of Kirkwood, Mo.

He was a 1953 graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was the owner and operator of the former Hentz Gulf Service Station in Valley View.
He was a charter member of F&AM Valley Lodge No. 797 of Valley View, the Hegins Valley Jaycees where he served as state director and the Tri-Valley Lions Club where he served as president, zone chairman and region chairman, a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, Hegins Valley View Rotary, Tri-Valley Joint School Authority, Hegins Twp. Recreation Committee, VFW Post 8237 of Valley View, American Legion Post 575 of Valley View, Valley View Fire Company, Hegins Twp. Fire Police, Dutchmen Hunting Camp and vice district governor and district governor of the Lions District 14-U. He was a former member of the Pottsville Club, serving on the board of managers and on the house committee. He also served on the Republican Executive Committee.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Pamela E. Hentz.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Nancy A. Straw Hentz; two daughters, Debra L. Smeltz of Sacramento and Lori A. Leister of Quakertown; a son, Jeffery S. Hentz of Valley View; two sisters, Geraldine Hepler of Valley View and Janice Rissinger of Hegins; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of Frederick F. "Fritz" Koppenhaver.
Surviving are a son, Dale E. Koppenhaver of Millersburg; a brother, Marlin E. Miller of Millersburg; and two grandchildren.

Born Nov. 17, 1916 in Wiconisco, he was the son of the late John A. and Lillian A. Witmer Laudenslager.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
Surviving is a brother, Wilbur W. Laudenslager of Halifax.
