Milton E. Lahr, Sr.
BETHLEHEM TWP. - Milton E. Lahr, Sr., 73, died Oct. 6 at his home.
Born in Dalmatia, he was the son of the late Emory O. and Lena Billman Lahr.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a retired road crew inspection for UGI.
He was a member of Coopersburg Lodge No. 469 and H. Stanley Goodwin Lodge No. 648 of Bethlehem F&AM.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Dolores Nickum Lahr; two daughters, Carol Kosik of Arizona and Bonnie Moser of Allentown; three sons, Dennis Kosik of Georgia, Julius Kosik of Bethlehem and Milton Lahr, Jr. of Freemansburg; and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 11 at the Reed Funeral Home.

Evelyn I. Phillips
HARRISBURG - Evelyn I. Phillips, 89, of Arden Courts, formerly of Millersburg and Lykens RD, died Oct. 7 at the Osteopathic General Hospital.
Born Sept. 28, 1918 in Leck Kill, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Paul Snyder.
She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Loyalton.
She was the widow of Herman T. Phillips. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Berton and Paul Snyder and four sisters, Alma Miller, Hilda Rebuck, Anna Smith and Dorothy Snyder.
Surviving are a daughter, Trudy Sherin of Middletown and four sisters, Edith Schorr of Millersburg, Verna Snyder of Rebuck, Shirley Schreffler of Rebuck and Carolyn Keiter of Dalmatia.
Services were held Oct. 11 at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes in Elizabethville. Burial was at the Gratz Union Cemetery.

Edith L. Zeigler
HARRISBURG - Edith L.. Zeigler, 89, formerly of Elizabethville, died Oct. 5 at the Homeland Center.
Born Dec. 1, 1917 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Sadie I. Paul Miller.
She was a graduate of John Harris High School.
She was a former organist at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Linglestown, a former member of the Red Hat Society of The Manor at Susquehanna Village and a member of the Enders Family Association.
She was the widow of Joseph A. Zeigler. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lamka.
Surviving are a son, James L. Zeigler of Harrisburg; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 11 at Boyer-Hoover Funeral Homes in Elizabethville. Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elizabethville.

George M. Sass
WICONISCO - George M. Sass, 92, a resident of The Manor at Susquehanna Village in Millersburg, formerly of Wiconisco, died Oct. 8 at the Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill.
Born April 15, 1915 in Lykens, he was the son of the late Michael and Anastasia Mihalko Sass.
He was a U.S. Army veterans of W.W. II.
He was a former employee of Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown and TRW in Harrisburg.
He was a member of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church of Lykens and American Legion Post No. 124 of Lykens.
He was the widower of Helen Facynic Sass.
Surviving are a son, Michael Sass of Harrisburg; a brother, Alexander Sass of Chevy Chase, Md.; two sisters, Martha Allen of Enola and Nadia Sass of Lykens; a grandson; and two great-grandsons.
Services were held Oct. 11 at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home. Burial was at the convenience of the family.

Benjiman Sully
LANCASTER - Benjiman Sully, 80, died Oct. 4 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.
Born in Williamstown, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Annie Mae White Sully.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II.
He was a retired field service representative from United Rubber Workers International Union.
He was of the Episcopalian faith.
He was a member of American Legion Post 239 of Williamstown and the 8th Ward Club.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Sully.
Surviving are his of 57 years, Julie "Peg" E. Garity Sully; a son, Thomas J. Sully of Lancaster; and three siblings, Elizabeth, Robert and William Sully, all of Williamstown.
Services were held Oct. 10 at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home. Burial was at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Melvin L. Shrawder Sr.
HARRISBURG - Melvin L. Shrawder Sr., 86, died Oct. 5 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
Born in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Arnie Mae Smeltz Shrawder.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II.
He was a retired self-employed carpenter and contractor.
He was a member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Phyllis A. Passell Shrawder; three sons, John B. of Medford Lakes, N.J., Melvin L. Jr. of Harrisburg and Timothy M. of Highspire; two daughters, Donna R. Shrawder of Halifax and JoAnn M. Dyer of Colonial Park; two brothers, Henry of Camp Hill and Glenn of Millersburg; two sisters, Grace Singer and Nancy Stoneroad, both of Millersburg; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

MIRAMAR, Fla. - John Albert Leuschner, 71, died Oct. 8.
Born in Sheridan, he was the son of Herman and Mary Leuschner.
He attended General Motors Institute and was educated was a mechanical engineer.
He was a general superintendent with General Motors.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary and three brothers, Herman, Harold and Lee.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Winifred; a daughter, LeAnne Carreiro; two sons, Scott and Michael; two brothers, Herman and Keith; a sister, Emma Jane Smith; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Reinerton.
Thomas E. Deppen
HERNDON - Thomas E. Deppen, 83, died Oct. 11 at Sunbury Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 31, 1924 in Herndon, he was the son of the late A. Earl and Emma Loy Deppen.
He was a 1943 graduate of the Herndon High School and a 1950 graduate of Susquehanna University.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during W.W. II.
He was a retired controller from Butter Krust Baking Company in Sunbury.
He was a member of Seibert Evangelical Congregational Church in Herndon, a lifetime member of the Mandata American Legion, a member of the Gratz VFW, Herndon Lodge 702 F&AM, Herndon Fire Company, Union County Sportsman Club and the Lower Northumberland Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Deppen and Lillian McCormick.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, June Fecker Klinger; a daughter, Judith Deppen of Kentucky; a son, Thomas B. Deppen of Harrisburg; two stepsons, Chris Klinger of Picture Rocks and Kenneth Klinger of Maryland; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 15 at Seibert Evangelical Congregational Church. Burial was at Herndon Cemetery.

MILLERSBURG - Darlis B. Yanoscak, 71, of Center Street, died Oct. 12 at the Holy Spirit Hospital in East Pennsboro Twp.
Born Oct. 6, 1936 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Roy C. and Serray Koppenhaver Buffington.
She was retired from the state emergency management offices and had worked for the former Inner Shoe Co. in Millersburg.
She was a member of Queen of Peace Church in Millersburg and was active with the Millersburg Senior Center.
She was the widow of George P. Yanoscak Sr.
Surviving are a son, George P. Yanoscak Jr. of Millersburg; a daughter, Melanie Yanoscak of Millersburg; four brothers, Ronald E. Buffington and Nathan H. Buffington, both of Halifax, James Buffington of Millersburg and Leonard Buffington of Berrysburg; two sisters, Cecil Lenig of Sunbury and JoAnne Rowe of Loyalton; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at her church.

William C. Miller Jr.
LYKENS – William C. Miller Jr., 74, died Dec. 9.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim R. Miller.
Surviving are two sons, William C. Miller III of East Berlin and Jeff S. Miller of Ft. Hunter; two sisters, Muneen Jury and Rebecca Ann Gross, both of Lykens; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 12 at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home. Burial was at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery in Wiconisco.

LYKENS – Elizabeth A. Lapicky, 80, formerly of Wiconisco, died Dec. 9 at the home of her daughter.
Born Sept. 21, 1927 in Branchdale, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan Pothering Kanaval.
She was a high school graduate.
She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Lykens.
She was the widow of Charles J. Lapicky.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen Shadle of Lykens; four siblings, Leona Steficek Barbara Stablum and Georgine Doran, all of Branchdale and John Kanaval of Sinking Springs; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 12 at her church. Burial was at St. Mary Star of the Sea Cemetery in Branchdale.

HALIFAX – Thomas A. Rummel, 62, died Dec. 9 at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born Mar. 6, 1945 in Halifax, he was the son of the late Alfred F. and Wauneta B. Baker Rummel.
He was a retired mail courier for the state Liquor Control Board.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Enterline where he was the church custodian, Sunday school teacher, secretary of the Sunday school and a former church council member.
Surviving are three sisters, Rita A. Rummel, Marjorie I. Alesky and Patsy L. Rummel, all of Halifax.

Born Feb. 3, 1926 in Lykens, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Hartman Dietrich.
She was a graduate of the former Hubley Twp. High School and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
She was a registered nurse in Philadelphia area hospitals and a night nursing supervisor at the former Ashland Regional Medical Center in Fountain Springs.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Sacramento, Daughters of the American Revolution, Valley View Senior Citizens, the Gratz Historical Society, an EMT with the Hegins Area Ambulance and a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Valley View Fire Company.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Dietrich and a sister, Mary Dietrich.
Surviving are a son, Stephen W. Klein of Hammonton, N.J.; a daughter, Stephanie M. Lyons of Hegins; a brother, George Dietrich of Sacramento; four sisters, Ruth Koppenhaver of Sacramento, Pauline Klinger of Valley View, Esther Garrett of Chesapeake, Va. and Marian Bowman of Millersburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She worked as a warehouse coordinator for Nestle Purina in Mechanicsburg.

Born Nov. 19, 1919 in Sunbury, he was the son of the late Jay and Susan Lahr Schreffler.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W. II.
He was retired from the former A&P grocery store.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Woodmen of the World No. 721, Millersburg VFW No. 5507, charter member of Lykens Valley Roamers and Millersburg American Legion No. 326.
He was the widower of Betty Fetterhoff Scheffler.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn Deitch of Millersburg; a son, Lonnie J. Schreffler of Severn, Md.; three sisters, Mary Kissinger of Elmira, N.Y.; Daisy Yeagly of Leesburg, Fla; and Phyllis Hilldale of Montoursville; two brothers, Mark Schreffler of Lewisburg and Dean Schreffler of Muncy; 11 grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
