Daniel H. "Dan" "Herb" Miller 51, of 473 Fruitville Pike, died Friday afternoon, February 16, 2001 at Ephrata Community Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Dan was the owner/operator of Guyon Industries Inc. of Manheim since 1972.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, Spring Grove, for more than 40 years.
Born in York, Dan was the son of D. Fred and Esther Miller Miller of East Berlin.
Dan was married to Marian Brandt Miller for 28 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two daughters, Suzanne D., married to Joseph D. King of Leola, and Sheila D., married to Dennis M. Wagner of Manheim; two brothers, Lester L., married to Cindy M. Miller of New Oxford, and Larry E., married to Lore L. Miller of East Berlin; and a sister, Katrina L., married to Eric J. Laughman of York Springs.
Dan was preceded in death by a brother, Leon E. Miller, who died in 1971.

David J. Owens Sr., of 1633 Newport Road, Manheim, died Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
David worked more than 43 years for Unisys, Blue Bell.
David was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, Manheim.
An avid Penn State fan, David also enjoyed camping and traveling.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, David was the son of the late David and Elizabeth Bittenbender Owens.
David was married to Patricia Millhouse Owens. His first wife, Elizabeth Stevens Owens, died in 1976.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, David J. Jr. married to Nancy Haag Owens of Ocean View, N.J.; a daughter, Marilyn A. Bradley of Lancaster; three stepdaughters, Linda, married to Jeff Holaday of New Castle, Ind., Patrice Reeds of Roseville, Calif., and Kathy, married to David Rasmussen of Peris, Calif.; four granddaughters; five stepgranddaughters; a great-granddaughter; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elizabeth Hildebrand of West Wyoming, Malvina Lewis of Kingston and Sarah Reilly of Dallas, Pa.
David was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Fehlinger.

Bertha K. Paone, of 1920 Larch Avenue, East Petersburg, died Monday morning, January 29, 2001 at home after a long illness.
Mrs. Paone worked at the former Schwartzenbuck & Huber Silk Mill, Columbia, for many years.
Bertha enjoyed baking, cooking and vegetable and flower gardening.
Born in Millersville, Bertha was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Shopf Keeport.
Her husband, Richard F. "Dick" Paone, died in 1997.
The last of her immediate family, Bertha was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Carl Ripple, 83, of 631 Rife Run Road, Manheim, formerly of Central City, died Monday morning, February 26, 2001 at Essa Flory Hospice Center after a long illness.
Carl worked for Agway Inc., Manheim, as a pellet mill operator, retiring in 1979.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
Born in Lewistown, Carl was the son of the late Charles and Myrtle Gross Ripple.
Carl was married 59 years to Victoria Sprock Ripple.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Joyce M., married to Tom G. Krivak of Pittsburgh, and Gloria J. Ripple of Chicago; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard, married to Mary C. Ripple of Manheim; a sister, Ruth Heckathorn of Newton Falls, Ohio; and a foster sister, Almeda Manges of Central City.
Carl was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Rose A. Shank, age 82, of 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA formerly of 618 Snyder Hill Road, Lititz died of natural causes Monday, February 26, 2001 at Pleasant View Retirement Community where she resided since July 1998.
Rose was the wife of Melvin Ray Shank. Born in Lancaster she was the daughter of the late William and Goldie Hall Orendorf.
A homemaker, she had previously been employed by the former RCA Company and the former Watt and Shand Department Store in Lancaster. Rose was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manheim.
She is survived by grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by a son, Donald Shank and a daughter, Deborah Lynn Haas. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Harry and one sister Elizabeth Bowman.

A homemaker, Margie was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Penryn, and the Penryn Senior Cititzens.
Margie was known for her braided rugs.
Born in Penryn, Margie was the daughter of the late Henry H. and Mary I. Bender Keath.
Her husband, Rufus F. Shelly, died in 1988.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth K., married to Shirley Coleman Shelly of Manheim; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Meda Zook of Leola.
Margie was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Snavely; three sisters, Ella Forney, Edna Zook and Erma Derr; and two brothers, Arthur and Charles Keath.

SHENIGO, MICHAEL A. SR., was Mechanic
Michael A. Shenigo, Sr., 57, 1939 Creek Road, Manheim, died unexpectedly Friday of natural causes.
Born in Somerset County, he was the son of Anna Bednar Shenigo, Manheim, and the late Andrew T. Shenigo. He was the husband of Barbara Shirk Shenigo of Manheim.
He and his wife would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on June 13.
Mr. Shenigo was a motorcycle mechanic at Lancaster Yamaha for 20 years. For the past six years, he was a maintenance mechanic for the Elizabethtown Area School District.
He was a member of Saint Richard Catholic Church, Manheim.
He enjoyed woodworking and won Best of Show and first place awards at local fairs. He also enjoyed flyfishing, camping and the outdoors.
Mr. Shenigo is survived by four sons: Michael A. Jr., husband of Betty J., Manheim; Steven E. and Craig S., both at home; and John H. husband of Denise A. Shenigo, Manheim; a daughter, Mary M. Shenigo, Ephrata, three grandchildren; and a brother Andrew T. husband of Margaret Shenigo, Rawlinsville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Shenigo.

Maude Marie Shirk, of Homestead Village, formerly of Paradise, died Sunday morning, February 4, 2001 after a long illness at the home, where she had been a resident since 1988.
A homemaker, Maude Marie was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Paradise, where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years.
Maude Marie enjoyed crocheting.
Born in Paradise Township, Maude Marie was the daughter of the late I. Newton and Emma Marie Kaiser Parmer.
Maude Marie was married to David L. Shirk, who died in 1992.

Chester F. Singley, 85, of 375 Memorial Drive, Manheim, died Sunday, February 11, 2001 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, after a long illness.
Chester worked 18 years for the Farm Credit Office, first in Lancaster and later as manager of the Lebanon office. After retirement, Chester worked part-time for 15 years at Sauder Chevrolet in Manheim.
Before moving to Manheim, Chester was a payroll clerk at Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem.
Chester graduated in 1950 from Penn State University with a degree in agriculture and economics.
Chester served 23 years in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of major. He served active duty in Europe, Africa and teh Middle East during World War II. Chester later served in the Army Reserves.
Chester was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, and a former member of Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nurenberg.
Chester enjoyed hunting and trapping in his earlier years and walking around Manheim until his illness.
Born in Zion Grove, Schuylkill County, Chester was the son of the late Franklin and Emma Hahn Singley.
Chester was married 52 years to Ruth O. Sachs Singley.
Surviving besides his wife are two brothers, George Singley of Alameda, Calif., and Paul Singley of Zion Grove; and nieces and nephews.

STOCKBAUER, SAMUEL WILLIAM "SAM"
Samuel William "Sam" Stockbauer, 69, of 109 Washington Street, Strasburg, PA died at his home on Friday morning, February 2, 2001 after a lengthy illness.
Sam was a machinist set-up for AMP Inc. in Landisville for 26 year retiring in 1988.. After retirement, Sam worked nine years for the Strasburg Railroad in the ground maintenance department.
Sam was a member of the American Historical Juke Box Society, an avid juke box and record collector and enjoyed collecting baseball memorabilia.
Born in Lancaster, Sam was the son of the late John and Helen Cooper Stockbauer.
He was married to Elizabeth "Betty" Bash Stockbauer who died July 3, 1995.
Sam was also survived by three daughters, Gloria J. married to Donald E. Ansell, Ephrata; Donna Lee married to John E. Wickenheiser of Lancaster; and Deborah Lynn married to Richard R. Shuyler of New Providence; three grandchildren; a brother, John "Pete" married to Myrtle Gamber Stockbauer of Marietta.

WEBBER, MARTHA H., 97, ran gift shops
Martha H. Webber, 97, of Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, formerly of Mastersonville, died of natural causes Sunday morning, February 18, 2001 at home.
Mrs. Webber was an active volunteer in various departments at Brethren Village, where she had lived since 1983.
Martha operated a gift shop in conjunction with her husband's electrical business in Mastersonville. She later started the gift shop at Brethren Village, where she was active for more than 25 years.
Mrs. Webber was a member of Chiques Church of the Brethren, Manheim, and she donated the church's pipe organ in her husband's memory. Martha also was a member of the Community Hospital of Lancaster auxiliary.
Born in Mount Joy Township, Martha was the daughter of the late Monroe and Sarah Stauffer Hollinger.
Martha was married to Paul E. Webber, who died in 1965.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty J., married to J. Harlan Shelly of Manheim; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ben S., married to Ruth Ginder Hollinger of Manheim.
Martha was preceded in death by two brothers, John Henry Hollinger and Abner Hollinger, and a sister, Maria Kreiner.
