Robert Landis Sr., 56, of 12 Lititz Run Road, Lititz, PA died Friday, October 5, 2001 at the Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness.
Robert worked more than 25 years for Kunzler Company Inc., Lancaster, until his recent illness.
Robert was a 1963 graduate of Warwick High School
Robert enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. He also enjoyed golfing, landscaping, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Born in Lancaster, Robert was the foster son of Dorothy M. Landis of Lititz.
Robert was the husband of Marsha A. Male Landis and they celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on June 1st of this year.
Surviving in addition to his wife and foster mother are two daughters, Christine A. married to Claude B. Berger Jr., of Lititz; Lori A. married to Todd Ebersole of Newmanstown; two sons, Robert Jr., married to Che Ulrich Landis of Ephrata, and Mark D. married to Laura J. Yunkin Landis of Lititz; and eight grandchildren.

LONG, ROBERT S., 53, was a Christian
Robert S. Long, 53, of 1496 Newport Road, Penryn, died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at home after a brief illness. Robert had been under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County.
Robert was a yardman for J.H. Brubaker Inc. in Manheim for three years. He previously worked 25 years for Murry Companies in Lancaster.
Robert was a member of Congregational Bible Church, Marietta, and a former member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Penryn. He loved gospel music and sang in the choirs of both churches.
Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed working outside, especially tending his fruit trees.
Born in Rapho Township, Robert was the son of Silas H. Long of Luther Acres, and the late Edith S. Ober Long.
Robert was married 32 years in April to Kaye Ream Long.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are a daughter, Lisa, married to Loren Miller of Manheim; a son, Michael of Lancaster; three grandsons; two sisters, Edith Arlene, married to Melvin A. Hershey of St. Charles, Minn., and Marion J., married to Frederick J. Bowlan of Manheim; and four brothers, Ronald E., married to Lois J. Hoffer Long, and David L., married to Tina Bohner Long, both of Manheim; Timothy G., married to Lori Yergo Long of Camp Hill, and John K., married to Linda Browning of Paradise.

MALIN, HENRY J., FORMERLY OF EAST PETERSBURG
Henry J. Malin, age 80, of 6248 Carpenter Street, East Petersburg, PA died Sunday, September 9, 2001 of natural causes at Manor Care Health Services, Lancaster.
For 58 years he was the husband of Helen Mary Kuzemka Malin. Born in Milford, CT he was the son of the late Adolph & Stella Darzenska Malinosky.
Henry was employed as a machine tool salesman for Bullard Company in Bridgeport, CT. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy.
Mr. Malin was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lancaster. He was a member of East Petersburg Historical Society and participated with the East Petersburg Fire Truck Restoration committee and the East Petersburg Recycling committee. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying gardening, fishing and golf.
Surviving beside his wife are one son, John M. husband of Celeste Malin of Milford, CT; two daughters, Jackie married to Loren A. Torrens of Kasson, MN and Marilynn married to Thomas Sturgess of Northford, CT; a brother Lloyd married to Arlene Malinosky of Wallingford, CT; and three sisters, Jean married to Edward Daca, Tecla married to Paul Foran, and Ceil married to William Bloxsom all of Milford CT; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by a son, Henry J. Malin , Jr.; a brother, Joseph Malinosky and two sisters; Sophie Norris, and Laura Markovics.

Florence H. Myer, 88, of Moravian Manor Retirement Community, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz, died Tuesday morning, September 25, 2001 at Moravian Manor after a two-month illness.
A resident of Moravian Manor since July, Florence had lived 3-1/2 years at Mount Hope Church Home, Manheim, and was formerly of 39 Penn Valley Village in Lititz.
A homemaker, Florence served with her husband as houseparents at Milton S. Hershey School.
Florence was a member of White Oak Church of the Brethren in Manheim.
Florence enjoyed sending cards, flowers and vegetable gardening, cooking and word puzzles.
Her husband, Lloyd M. Myer, died in 1981.
Born in Clay Township, Florence was the daughter of the late Tillman and Anna Hess Risser.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth R., married to Miriam Cassel Myer; and L. Elwood, both of Manheim; two daughters, Ruth Ann, married to Gerald C. Rohrer of Smoketown, and Esther R., married to Marlin J. Fahnestock of Lititz; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Harnish.

NISSLEY, ALVERTA E., AGE 72
Alverta E. Nissley, age 72, of 591 Fruitville Pike, Manheim died Monday morning, September 17, 2001 unexpectedly of natural causes at Lancaster General Hospital.
Alverta was married for 53 years to Jacob W. Nissley this past April 24th 2001. Born in Penn Township she was the daughter of the late William S. and Ada D. Eichelberger Birkenbine.
Mrs. Nissley was first employed by the former William Noggle Garment Company, Manheim. She was next employed by the former Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster and last worked at Kreider’s Deli, Manheim. She also assisted her husband with his homemade broom making business.
She was a member at Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim. For the past ten years she volunteered with the American Red Cross at Lancaster General Hospital. She enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife and going to their mountain cabin in Snyder County. An avid square dancer she and her husband belonged to four square dancing groups, Grand Square, Union Suiters, Cross Trailers, and Do-Pos-O over a period of eleven years.
Surviving beside her husband is a sister, Darlene E. married to Ernest J. Ferretti of Strasburg. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Louise Good; a brother, Elmer Birkenbine and a sister, Myrtle E. Birkenbine.

Crystal Marie Rohrer, 14, of 2670 Northfield Drive, East Petersburg, died Wednesday evening, September 5, 2001 at her home after a four-year illness.
Crystal was a 7th grader at the Landisville Middle School with the Intermediate Unit #13.
An animal lover, Crystal enjoyed going too petting zoos and collecting stuffed animals.
Born in Waukegan, Illinois, Crystal was the daughter of Robin E. Tshudy Rohrer, married to Roy M. Sides, with whom she lived, and Dennis Eugene Rohrer of Aiea, Hawaii.

VELMA H. SCHOLL, 57, Foster Parent
Velma H. Scholl, 57, of 2477 Valley Road East Petersburg, died Saturday evening, September 22, 2001 at her home following a brief illness.
Born in Lancaster, PA Velma was the daughter of Walter L. Jr. and Martha Hernley Keener of Woodcrest Villa, Lancaster. She was the wife of Roy L. Scholl and they observed their 37th wedding anniversary on July 25th of this year.
Velma devoted her life to caring for children and served as a foster parent along with her husband for thirty years and helped to care for more than sixty children in four different counties where they lived in Pennsylvania.
A member of Erisman Mennonite Church in Manheim, Velma volunteered her time in the nursery department for the Learning In Fellowship Together
“ LIFT “ program based at the church.
Velma was a 1962 graduate of Lancaster Mennonite High School. She enjoyed music and was a member of the former Choraleers vocal group that performed throughout the United States under the direction of Arnold and Maietta Moshier.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are two daughters, Kaylene D. Scholl of Lancaster and Kendra D. Scholl at home; a son, Kent D., married to Joelle Less Scholl of East Petersburg; and a foster son, Miguel Correa at home; two grandsons, Adam and Patrick; two sisters, Audrey, married to James Hilsher of Manitoba, Canada, and Marilyn, married to Fred Baldwin of Carlisle; four brothers, Nelson, married to Jeannie Reist Keener of Lancaster, Gerald married to Donna Zehr Keener residing in Vietnam, Lamar married to Theresa Grassel Keener of La Mesa California; Arlen, married to Kathy Boll Keener of Mountville.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Charlene Keener.

GRACE M. SENSENDERFER, 82, was secretary
Grace M. Sensenderfer, 82 of 213 South Broad Street, Lititz, died Wednesday morning, September 19, 2001 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Manheim, Pennsylvania, Grace was the daughter of the late Warren M. and Edith E. Witmyer Demmy. She was the wife of the late Frederick G. Sensenderfer who died in 1979.
Grace worked as a secretary for St. Paul’s U.C.C. Lancaster, which later became Church of the Apostles, UCC in Lancaster for thirty years retiring in 1999. Grace was honored in February 2000 for 30 years of service in the church and many more as a church member. She previously worked for the former Manheim Asbestos Co. for 26 years.
As a very active member of the Church of the Apostles, UCC Lancaster Grace served on the senior choir for over 40 years, was a member of the Women’s Guild and Rose Circle. Grace continued her work with the Church’s altar flowers after her retirement. She was a member of the Homestead Village Auxiliary, Lancaster General Hospital Auxiliary, and the Ladies Auxiliary - Valley of Reading A.A.S.R. Grace enjoyed needlework of all kinds.
Surviving are a daughter, Shelby married to Willard “Bill” Hackman of Lititz, two grandsons, Michael F. Hackman of Lancaster and Christopher A. married to Jill M. Hackman of Lititz, and three great grandsons, three sisters, Mary E. Lewis and Delores married to William C. Paulsen all of Lititz, and Martha married to Richard Knight of Manheim.
Grace was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd Demmy, Harold Demmy, W. Clayton Demmy, and Robert Demmy. She also was preceded in death by a half brother the late J. Malcom Schaffer.

YORTY, KENNETH, 62, owned transport company
Kenneth C. Yorty, 62, of 2861 Dogwood Circle, Manheim, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 27, 2001 of natural causes at Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Annville, Kenneth was the son of the late Charles and Bernice Loser Yorty. He was married to Heidi Burghardt Yorty.
Kenneth was the owner and operator of Yorty’s Transport in Manheim. Prior to that, he worked as a salesman for several car dealers in the Lancaster County area. Kenneth also worked as a real estate agent for Penn Reality, Manheim and also owned and operated the former Yorty’s Restaurant and Service Center along Route 72, in Manheim.
An Eagle Scout, Kenneth volunteered his time for Scout Troops in Manheim area. He was the past President and a former member of the Manheim Lions Club. Kenneth also was a member of the Elstonville Sportsmen Association and the Navy Club Ship 91, in Lebanon.
Kenneth was an avid Manheim Baron’s football fan and enjoyed Nascar Racing and going to the Five Point Hunting Camp in Union County.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Kyle C., married to Dawn M. Brightbill Yorty of Manheim; a step-daughter, Annette M. Heagy of Philadelphia, five grandchildren; two brothers, David, married to Vicki Yorty, Pollock Pines, California; and Robert, married to Doris Yorty of Annville, PA
Kenneth was preceded in death by a son, Shan D. Yorty, and a step-daughter, Michaela K. “Michi” Douple.
