NOLL, GRANT, 69, Mennonite Pastor
The Reverend Grant G. Noll, 69, of 42 Pinewood Avenue, Lititz, died Sunday morning at Landis Homes Retirement Community, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz from complications of progressive supranuclear palsy. He lived at Landis Homes for 10 months.
Grant taught at Ephrata Mennonite School and managed Ephrata Re-Uzit Shop. He also served as a Mennonite pastor in Chicago; Pekin, Ill.; Hydro, Okla; and Hague, Saskatchewan, Canada. After retiring in 1995, Grant worked part-time at Manheim Auto Auction. the former East Hempfield sical and instrumental music and watching his children play sports.
Born in East Hempfield Township, Grant was the son of the late Grant H. and Fannie M. Groff Noll.
He was married 37 years on September 19th to Verna Good Noll.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Grant Christopher, married to Cindy L. Matthews Noll of Lebanon, a daughter, Beth A., married to J. Andrew Lehman of Manheim; and two grandchildren; a sister, Sara Ruth, married to C. Witmer Sherer of Mount Joy.
Grant was preceded in death by a brother, James Noll.

SONIERA, PHYLLIS, 73, formerly of New York City
Phyllis A. Soneira, 73, of Mariner Health of Kensington, Maryland, formerly of Bronx, New York, died March 23, 2002 at the residence.
Born in Manheim, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Anna Marie Way Bedger Sr.
Her husband, William Soneira, died in July 2001.
Phyllis was a 1936 graduate of Manheim High School.
Surviving are two sons, Robert W. Soneira of New York City, NY and Gary E. married to Martha Soneira of Rockville, Maryland, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Bedger and a sister, Mary Kulp.

STURROCK, BRIAN, C., 46, graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg
Word has been received of the death of Brian Coleman Sturrock, 46,l of 3701 Overland Avenue, Los Angeles, formerly of Strasburg. Brian died March 6 at UCLA Medical Center where he had been a cancer patient.
Brian was self-employed as a financial consultant, motivational speaker and salesman.
Brian was a member of Brentwood Presbyterian Church, Los Angeles, and was active in Toastmasters.
A 1973 graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, Brian participated in gymnastics and track and field. Brian graduated from Michigan State University in 1978, where he was on the gymnastics team.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Brian was the son of Janet L. Giles Sturrock of Lancaster and the late Alexander Thayer Sturrock.
Brian was married to Eleanor Yu-Fang Liao Sturrock for six years.
In addition to his wife and mother, Brian is survived by a daughter, Liane Morgan Sturrock, and twins Alexander Thayer Sturrock II and Katherine Grace Sturrock, all at home.

REV. ROBERT G. TANNER, SR.
Rev. Robert G. Tanner, Sr., age 59, of 1529 Bossler Road, Elizabethtown, PA died unexpectantly Thursday evening, April 4, 2002, at his residence. He had been under the care of a physician.
He was the husband of Beverly L. Moats Tanner. The couple observed 37 years of marriage August 30, 2001. Born in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Osee F. and Elizabeth Corine Fessler Tanner.
For the past 3 years Rev. Tanner was employed by Manheim Christian Day School as a Developement Director. An ordained minister, Rev. Tanner preached and taught in various churches and was a member of the Manheim ministrium. He attended Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim. He was a 1962 graduate of Messiah College. Rev. Tanner was a member of Manheim Rotary Club.
Rev. Tanner enjoyed music and his family.
Surviving beside his wife are two sons, Robert G. Jr. married to Holly M. Hackneberg Tanner of Landisville, Christopher L. married to Megan J. MacVaugh Tanner of Mount Joy; two daughters, Stephanie L. married to Adam S. McGloshen of Elizabethtown, Jennifer L. married to Mark R. Culton of Spring City; a brother, Wayne F. married to Debra Tanner of Chambersburg; four grandchildren.

WEAVER, ELWOOD, 84, lived in Manheim
Elwood R. Weaver, 84, of the Mennonite Home, formerly of 127 Ridgewood Manor, Manheim, died of natural causes Sunday, March 17, 2002 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
Elwood was a supervisor from 1941 to 1976 for the former Raymark Industries, Manheim.
Elwood served as a prison chaplain in Palmetto, Florida for 12 years.
A veteran of World War II, Elwood served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS LST 577 in the Philippines.
Elwood belonged to Erisman Mennonite Church, Manheim where he taught Sunday school.
Elwood was a member of the U.S. Navy LST Association.
Elwood enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature and gospel music, and he led devotions at the Mennonite Home.
Born in Columbia, Elwood was the son of the late Taylor and Florence Trissler Weaver.
Elwood was married 54 years on December 21 to Elsie Minnich Weaver.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Elwood T. of Monterey, California; a grandson; a great-grandson; a sister, Doris Pattersen of Lynchburg, Virginia; and two half-sisters, Helen Hughes of Detroit and Grace Weaver of Harrisburg.
Elwood was preceded in death by a son, Charles E; a daughter, Suzie Weaver, a brother, Chester; a half-brother, Edward; and two half sisters, Lena Ditzler and Marie Kauffman.

WEIRICH, SARA M., a seamstress
Sara M. Weirich, 85, of 77 Valley Road, Neffsville, Pennsylvania died Monday at Essa Flory Hospice Center following a brief illness.
Sara was a seamstress for the former Lancaster Garment Factory for 34 years.
Born in Cambridge, Pennsylvania, Sara was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Katie Reel Umble.
Sara enjoyed crocheting, braiding rugs and enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband in Perry County for many years.
Her husband, Victor G. Weirich died in 1998.
Surviving are 2 grandchildren, Richard married to Patricia Perry Weirich of Lancaster and Victoria S. married to Carl Robinson of Myrtle, South Carolina and three great-grandchildren.
Sara is preceded in death by a son, Victor L. Weirich; one brother, Walter Umble and four sisters, Eva N. Nesinger, Kathryn Potts, Florence Miller and Mildred Reincke.

Edith G. Zeager, 92, formerly of 16 North Penn Street, Manheim, died at Pleasant View Retirement Community on Friday morning, April 5, 2002 after a lengthy illness. She had resided at Pleasant View since 1997.
Born in West Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, Edith was the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Susan Shenk Grube.
Edith retired in 1971 from Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster. Previously, Edith worked as a presser for over 20 years at the former Noggles Garment Factory in Manheim.
Her husband, Ellis S. Zeager, died June 19, 1997.
Edith attended the Manheim Church of God.
Edith enjoyed knitting, making afghans and flower gardening.
Surviving are a son, J. Richard married to Nancy Kupp Grube, Manheim, a grandson, J. Alan Grube and one great-granddaughter, Nicole Wayde, a brother, Frank S. Sr. married to Betty Grube, Columbia.
Edith was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Shank and Anna Shenk.

ZIMMERMAN, MARY A., 88, of Strasburg
Mary A. Zimmerman, age 88, of 101 South Jackson Street, Strasburg, PA died unexpectedly of natural causes Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2002 at her home.
She was the wife of Roy Zimmerman. The couple would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this April. Born in Lancaster she was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Laura A. Rineer Mitchell.
A homemaker, she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Strasburg, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Paul R. Strubel Post #8710, Strasburg. She was a member of the former Strasburg Sports Woman’s Association and served as a Brownie Leader for Girl Scouts. Mary also was a charter member of the Strasburg Area Woman’s Club.
Her hobbies included ceramics of which she operated a ceramic shop from her home, sewing and knitting.
Surviving beside her husband are two daughters, Dorothy J. married to John H. Raub and Ruth A. married to Gerald L. Hoffard, both of Strasburg; a foster daughter, Esther “Dolly” Hartman married to Douglas Swift of Lancaster; a brother, George R. married to Thelma Kreider Mitchell of Lancaster; a sister, Eda M. Frey of Millersville; six grandchildren; 1 foster grandchild; 11 great grandchildren; 2 foster great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Mitchell and Ralph Mitchell; two sisters; Ruth Heidelbaugh and Mabel “Peg” Floyd.
