FREY, MARLIN L. "MOTZ" 80, VETERAN
Marlin L. " Motz " Frey, 80, of 150 South Grant Street Manheim, PA died unexpectedly at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Allen and Helen Lehn Frey.
He was the husband of Virginia Erb Frey and they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in March of this year.
In 1984 Motz retired after working over 42 years as a press worker for the former Raymark Industries, Manheim.
A U.S. Army veteran of WWII he was awarded the good conduct medal with two Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal.
A life member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim. He was also a member of the Manheim V. F. W. Post 5956.; and the 25 year club at Raymark Industries.
His interests included, Hunting, Fishing, Billards, Playing Athletics and was a champion Marble Player.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Marlin L. Frey Jr. of Aurora, Illinois, two daughters, Madeline married to Rodney Schaeffer of Oswego, Illinois, and Cathy married to Anthony Tait of Willow Street, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, and a sister, Vilma married to Desmond Shenberger of Manheim.

FORRY, EVELYN M. 73, ENJOYED GARDENING
Evelyn M. Forry, 73, of the Danner Home, 44 W. Ferdinand St. Manheim, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, following a brief illness.
Born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, Evelyn was the daughter of the late George and Mary Eyrich Moore.
She was the wife of the late Paul E. Forry.
Evelyn worked for the former Holiday Inn, Lancaster in the housekeeping department for many years retiring in 1988.
She had an interest in flower gardening and was an avid birdwatcher.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald P. married to Delores L. Conner Forry and David L. married to Dora J. Geib Forry both of Manheim and Dennis L. married to Elizabeth Ann Schwartz Forry of San Francisco, California, one granddaughter and two brothers, Luther married to Miriam Moore of Rothsville and George married to Joyce Moore of Alleghenyville, PA..

HORST, JOSHUA JOSEPH
Joshua Joseph Horst infant son of Jerry and Sue Derstler Horst of 1212 Creek Road Lititz, Pennsylvania died at birth at the Women and Babies Hospital Of Lancaster General on Saturday morning, March 30, 2003.
Surviving in addition to his parents are three sisters, Kristin Horst, Valerie Horst, Lindsey Horst all at home, four brothers, Mark Horst, Chad Horst, Austin Horst and Shaun Horst all at home.
Maternal Grandparents are Gordon and Lois Derstler of Lititz, and Paternal Grandfather,Willis W. Horst married to Esther M. Horst of Ephrata.
Private Services will be held at the Convenience of the Family.

JENNINGS, DOROTHY A. 91, Manheim
Dorothy Ogle Shockley Jennings, 91, of 227 West High Street, Manheim, Pennsylvania, died Monday evening, March 24, 2003 of natural causes at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Tipton, Virginia, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Isaac and Della Surratt Ogle.
Dorothy was employed by Hamilton Watch Company in East Petersburg., PA.
She also worked for the former Noggles Garment Factory in Manheim, PA.
Dorothy’s first husband, Posey Shockley died in 1944 and her second husband, James Jennings died in 1983.
Dorothy was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in York, Pennsylvania.
She enjoyed crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening and was an avid reader.
Surviving are three daughters, M. Mozelle married to Donald Billips of Fairdale, West Virginia, Ruth A. Packard of Manheim and Janet M. married to David Ott of East Earl, PA., 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Tom married to Emily Ogle of Salem, Virginia and Daniel married to Henrietta Ogle of Hillsville, Virginia; five sisters, Faye married to Fred Edmonds, Lucille married to Earl Dalton, Nellie married to Jack Slate all of Hillsville, Virginia, Galenia married to Willie Shelton of Wythesville, Virginia and Myrtle Spencer of Max Meadows, Virginia.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Pastor Robert E. Shockley; four sisters, Annie Myers, Edna Ogle, Edith White and Stella Surratt; and two brothers, Sam Ogle and George Ogle.

LONG, MAYBELLE R. 86, LITITZ
R. MayBelle Long, 86, of 137 Forney Drive, Lititz, died Friday at Luther Acres, Lititz, following a lengthly illness.
Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lizzie Eckert Stark.
She was the wife of Robert F. Long and they observed their 61st wedding anniversary in December of last year.
MayBelle worked in the Bookeeping, Office Management Department for the Animal Trap Company which became Ecko-Wood Stream Corporation, Lititz for 7 years.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Lititz. An avid volunteer for the Red Cross as a "Gray Lady ' for both the Lancaster General Hospital and Conestoga View Lancaster, and volunteered for meals on wheels for the Lititz Area.
Her interests included bird watching, gardening, outdoor work, walking, traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Robert H. married to Joanne M. Geib Long of Lititz, two grandchildren, one sister, Julia Bear of Lancaster.
She was preceeded in death by eight brothers, and three sisters.

MILLER, ELSIE, S. 71, Restaurant Worker
Elsie S. Witmer Miller, 71, of 657 Orchard Road Manheim, Pennsylvania, died unexpectedly of natural causes Thursday evening, March 27, 2003 at her home.
Born in Lancaster County, Elsie was the daughter of the late Allen B. and Edna Ober Shearer.
Elsie was last employed at the former Yorty’s Restaurant in Manheim. She previously worked for Copes Corn in East Petersburg. In her earlier years she helped her first husband on the family farm.
Elsie was married one year in February to Abram L. Miller. Her first husband Jay G. Witmer died April 1, 2000.
Elsie was a member of the Grace Brethren Church Of Greater Lancaster and participated in the Womens Fellowship Group of the church.
She was also a member and past president of the Lancaster County Farm Women #2 and the Elizabethtown Grange where she volunteered at the annual Elizabethtown Fair for many years at the Grange’s Milk Shake Stand.
Her interests included playing the organ and both flower and vegetable gardening.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, Jay L. Witmer of Trenton New Jersey, Donald L. married to Debra Shelley Witmer of Manheim, Dennis R. married to Sandy K. Gruber Witmer of Mount Joy, Jeffrey A. Witmer of Lititz, one sister, JoAnne E. married to Kenneth C. Gebhard of Manheim, one step-daughter, Joyce E. married to Kirk D. Shenberger of Lebanon, five grandchildren, three brothers, J. Allen married to Kathryn Shearer and Richard married to Ruth Shearer both of Mount Joy, David married to Alma Shearer of Bainbridge, one sister, Ruth married to John Bartgis of Mount Joy.
Elsie was preceeded in death by two brothers, Harold and Stanley Shearer, and one sister, Anna Mae Frey.

MYERS, DORCAS E. 68, MANHEIM
Dorcas E. Myers, 68, of Gretna Springs 20 Aspen Drive, Manheim, PA died Saturday at her daughter’s home, 70 Meckville Road Myerstown, PA following a brief illness.
Born in Lebanon County, she was the daughter of the late Ammon and Mary Eberly Keller.
She was the wife of Nelson E. Myers and they observed their 48th wedding anniversary in August of last year.
Dorcas worked for over 25 years driving escort for her husband, helping to deliver mobile homes, retiring in 1996. She also worked many years at the Mount Hope Church Home Manheim.
She was a member of Brethren Fellowship Church, Lititz.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Dennis married to Karen Meyers Myers of Adel, Iowa, David married to Donna Reed Myers of Dallas Center, Iowa, one daughter, Malinda married to Scott Bross of Myerstown, Ten Grandchildren, two brothers, David married to Ruth Keller of
Lebanon, Fred married to Lorraine Keller of Myerstown, two sisters, Betty married to Edwin Stauffer of Gretna Springs, Manheim, and Rhoda married to Rudy A. Shaffer of Manheim.
She was preceeded in death by one brother, Titus Keller.

SWINEHART, CHARLES R. 90, CUSTODIAN
Charles R. Swinehart Sr., 90, of 1833 West Elizabethtown Road Manheim, died Thursday morning at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster following a brief illness.
Born in Christiana, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Ella Thompson Swinehart.
His wife Marian Todd Swinehart died in August 31, 1993.
Charles worked as a custodian for the Lancaster School District, he also worked as a farmer in Lancaster County for many years.
Mr. Swinehart was well known through out Lancaster County local auctions where he bought and sold many items. He
was a collector of Antique toys and Winross trucks.
He was an avid hunter.
Surviving are five sons, Clarence R. married to Doris Scholtzhauer Swinehart, Charles R. Swinehart Jr., Lester R. married to Judy Adams Swinehart, Carl E. married to Wanda Schnell Swinehart, Walter L. Swinehart, all of
Lancaster, four daughters, Gladys S. married to Aaron Esh and Janet I. married to Willis Groff both of Lancaster, E. Joyce married to Elmer Herr of Manheim, Helen F. married to Jere Martin of Elm, 21 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by a daughter, Doris Swinehart, a brother, Clarence Swinehart, 7 grandchildren, and one great grandson.

Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and E. Marie Strickler Rambler.
Helen was married 53 years in October to Emmert Will.
She was a seamstress at the former Hesteco Company, Elizabethtown, Pa.
Mrs. Will was a member at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, Pa.
Her hobbies included puzzles, sewing, and gardening.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: Harry E. married to Victoria A. Will, Newmanstown, David L. married to Betty J. Will, Manheim, Paul A., Columbia.; three daughters: Linda L. married to Gerald R. Snavely, Manheim, Betty E. married to Carl M. Martin, Manheim, Judith M. married to David M. Heisey, Lancaster,: five grandchildren, two great grandchildren,; one brother Daniel married to Jean Rambler, Manheim.
Helen was preceded in death by one brother John Rambler, one sister Ruth Rambler, and one granddaughter Amanda Will.

ZINN, GERALD A. 79, CARPENTER
Gerald A. Zinn, 79 of 2717 Maytown Road, Marietta, Pa died on Sunday April 6, 2003 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, East Hempfield Township, following a lengthy illness. He was a resident of Hearthstone Manor, Mount Joy, Pa since December.
Born in East Donegal Township, he was the son of the late Earl and Florence Strausbaugh Zinn.
He retired in 1986 from the former Alumax Corporation, as a carpenter, following 25 years of service.
In his earlier years, he worked for a private contractor as carpenter.
His wife Sara E. Houser Zinn died in January 1987.
Mr. Zinn was a life member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maytown, were he was extremely active on the property committee.
He was an active member of Alumax Retirement Association
His interest were gardening, wood working, and going to public auctions.
Surviving are two daughters: Patricia A. married to Donald J. Snyder of Elizabethtown, Connie Z. married to Steven R. Skojec of Elizabethtown, two grandsons, and a sisiter Minerva Z. married to Harold Irwin of Lancaster.
