Susan D. Ahr, 41, of Manheim, died on Sunday, July 6, 2003 at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Maryland following a lengthy illness.
Born in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy King Crawford.
She was married 17 years to Bruce W. Ahr
She worked for Susquehanna Bancshares Inc, Lititz as a purchasing assistant.
She graduated from the Cranford High School, New Jersey.

Verna H. Copenhaver, 92, of Mount Hope Church Home, 3026 Mount Hope Home Road, Manheim, formerly of Lebanon, died Sunday, July 6,
2003, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon of natural causes following a brief illness. Mrs. Copenhaver was a resident of the home for 10 years.
Born in Warwick Township, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Z. and Lizzie Hershey Longenecker.
Her husband Klein D. Copenhaver died in 1987.
Mrs. Copenhaver was a homemaker all of her life.
Her and her late husband, Klein D. Copenhaver founded in 1967, the 14th Street Mission, currently known as Lebanon Christian Fellowship, Lebanon.
She was a member of Annville Church of the Brethren and was an active participant in the Fresh Air Program, Lebanon, PA.
Mrs. Copenhaver enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing her harmonica, baking donuts, and volunteering with the Rescue Mission.
She enjoyed helping others and entertaining family and friends.
Surviving are four sons, Jesse married to Martha Sensenich Copenhaver, Lebanon, Mark married to Alice Forney Copenhaver, Lebanon, Jere
married to Bonnie Cave Copenhaver of Union Deposit, and Edwin married to Karen Hoover Copenhaver of Annville; two daughters, Anna Mae
married to Reverend John Ludwig of Cleona, and Rachel Copenhaver of Lebanon; 17 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; three brothers, Ray
married to Evelyn Longenecker and Carl married to Jane Longenecker all of Lititz, and Jacob Longenecker of Rothsville; two sisters, Elva married
to Ernest Miller, North Fort Myers, Florida, Floy married to Reverend Virgil Kover of Manheim; and a foster sister, Elva Martin of Brethren Village.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Reba Ziegler.

ECENRODE, MONROE M., 84, MANHEIM
Monroe M. " Eckie " Ecenrode, 83, of 722 Conestoga Ave. Manheim, PA, died Monday afternoon, July 14, 2003 at his home following an illness of several months.
Born in Warwick Township, he was the son of the late Monroe L. and Lizzie Mann Ecenrode.
A life long concrete worker, Eckie last worked for Stief Concrete Work Incorporated, New Holland, for 13 years retiring in 1984. Following retirement he worked for Rohrer's Quarry Inc., Lititz, for an additional 13 years, till 2001.
He was the husband of Arlene R. Ruhl Ecenrode and they observed their 57th wedding anniversary on June 15th. of this year.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was part of the 8th Infantry Division of The Golden Arrow Company during the war.
Ecenrode was a member of Ruhl's United Methodist Church, Manheim. He enjoyed camping, hunting and visiting their cabin in Perry County.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Beverly A. married to Richard E. Stoner, and Linda M. Myers both of Manheim, three sons, James M. married to Judy A. Greiner Ecenrode of Lititz, Steven R. married to Sharon K. Shenk Ecenrode and Kevin L. married to Dana C. Ringler Ecenrode both of Manheim, twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy Kiehl of Elizabethtown, and one brother, Robert married to Verti Ecenrode of Lancaster.
Monroe was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Blaine, Elizabeth Keppley, Maude Burd, Margaret Connely, and one brother, Harry Ecenrode.

Her husband Gilbert Z. Enck, he died on March 20, 1984.
She worked as a laborer for the former Bickels Potato Chip Co., Manheim.
Her interest included crocheting and puzzle books.

Elsie Mae Good, 92, of 147 North Clay Street, Manheim, died Tuesday Evening July 22, 2003 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, following a long illness. She had been a resident of Pleasant View for one month.
Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Samuel K. and Lizzie Baker Haldeman.
From 1925 to 1931 , Elsie worked as a supervisor for the former William H. Noggle Company, Manheim. An avid gardner, she grew and sold vegetables door to door for many years in Manheim.
She was the wife of the late Paul B. Good, who died in 1990.
A member of Manheim Brethren In Christ Church, she served in the nursery and home departments of the church.
Her memberships included, Osteopathic Guild of Lancaster, Stiegel Roses Senior Citizens Group of Manheim, Mount Joy Leisure Club, and the Hill Church Senior Citizens.
Surviving are three daughters, Verna M. Noll of Lititz, Shirley A. married to Paul B. Benner of Manheim, and Janet M. married to John H. Gish of Mount Joy, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by one sister, Edna Brubaker.

Mae L. Hosler, 78, of 2542 Shumaker Road, Manheim, PA., died Sunday morning July 6, 2003 at the Mount Hope Church Home, Manheim, following a lengthly illness.

She was the wife of Marlin W. Hosler and they observed their 60th wedding anniversary on June 5th.
For over 17 years Mae worked in food service for the Mount Hope Church Home.
Mrs. Hosler was a member of Chiques Church Of The Brethren, Manheim.
Mae was a member of the Lancaster County Farm Women Number 2 for over 40 years, and served the organization as president.
Her interests included traveling and embroidery.

William L. Jones, 84, of 135 West Lexington Road, Manheim, Pa, formerly of Gatesville, Texas, died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, of natural causes following a brief illness.
Born in Coryell County, Texas, he was the son of the late Walter P. Jones Sr. and Martha Easter Jones Jackson.
His wife LaValda Ford Jones, she died on October 1998.
A U.S. Army Veteran during WW II, then re entered the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1970 as a Tech Sergeant after 25 years in the military. He served with General Patton's 3rd Army in Europe, 4th Armored Division.
Also, in 1983, Mr. Jones retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Little Rock, Arkansas, after 13 years of service.
He was a member of the Lititz VFW Post 1463 and the Elks Club in Baker, Oregon.
His interest included fishing and gardening.
Surviving are a son: William F. married to Linda Clark Jones of Hummelstown, Pa; two daughters: Gaylia J. married to Gary L. Hampton of Manheim, Pa, Melodie J. married to Mike Quinlan of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a sister: Maxine married to William G. Ratliff of Weatherford, Texas.

Her husband, Thomas J. Kennedy died in 2000.
A homemaker all of her life, she was a member of the "Old Regular Baptist Church", Pound Virginia.
She enjoyed quilting and sewing.

KETTERING, MAYBELLE ROYER, 81, LITITZ
Maybelle Royer Kettering, 81, formerly of Lititz R D 3. died Tuesday Evening July 8, 2003 at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, following a long illness.
Born in Warwick Township, she was the daughter of the late Norman Royer and Ella Minnich Royer Heagy.
She was the wife of the late Henry E. Kettering who died May 13, 1998.
A homemaker, she also helped her husband on the family dairy farm in Lititz. A 1946 graduate of Lancaster General Hospital School Of Nursing, Mrs. Kettering provided private duty nursing in the Lancaster County area.
A member of Hempfield Church Of The Brethren, Manheim, she served as a lifetime deacon of the church along with her husband, her church activities included teaching children’s Sunday School and Women’s Fellowship.
Her other interests includes, all types of needle work, crocheting, embroidery, knitting, sewing, vegetable and flower gardening.
Maybelle was a volunteer for the Lancaster County Clothing Bank.
Surviving are two sons, James E. married to Jody A. Ranck Kettering of Manheim, Benjamin H. married to Patricia Pini Kettering of Leola, two daughters, Mary Ellen married to Robert E. MAST, WILLIAM, 91, LITITZ
William Mast, 91, formerly of Alden, New York died at Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz, PA., on Thursday Afternoon July 3, 2003, of natural causes.
Born in Choteau, Oklahoma he was the son of the late Eli D. and Amanda Schlabach Mast.
From 1965 to 1990 he was owner and operator of Mast Masonry Incorporated in Alden, New York, previously he was owner and operator of his own farm from 1939 to 1966 located in Clarence Center, N.Y.
He was the husband of the late Lovina Nafziger Mast who died in October of last year.
A member of Alden Mennonite Church he also served as a trustee of the church.
For many years Mast served as caretaker of Alden Union Cemetery.
His interests included vegetable gardening.
Surviving are four sons, Richard W. married to Shirley Erb Mast of Alden, N.Y., Joseph W. married to Nancy Noll Mast of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Allen W. married to Cindy Miller Mast of Brownsburg, Indiana, Robert W. married to Merle Erb Mast of Keezletown, Virginia, two daughters, Susanna L. married to David Crump of Cohoes, N.Y., Kristina Mast Burnett married to Tom Burnett of Akron, PA., seventeen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother, Eli Mast of Greenwood, Del., and one sister, Emma married to Clarence Kipfer of Sarasota, Florida.

SHADE, JOAN S., 60, MANHEIM
Joan S. Shade, 60, of 44 Morning Glory Lane, Manheim, died Saturday, July 5, 2003 at Conestoga View, Lancaster, of natural causes following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lebanon County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Margaret A. Fies Hemmig.
She was married to Herbert C. Shade for 24 years on September 23, 2002.
Mrs. Shade was a 1960 graduate of Manheim Central High School.
In 1978, she stared out as a nursing assistant working at Lancashire Hall.
From 1980 until retiring in 2000, she worked for Conestoga View as a geriatric Licensed Practical Nurse. During those twenty years at Conestoga View, she worked as a charge nurse on two floors and worked as a LPN assessment nurse before retiring.
She enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with her husband. She also enjoyed going to craft and art shows with her husband , cooking and trying new recipes, collecting different types of baskets and teddy bears, and reading mysteries.
She also was an avid professional football, ice hockey, and NASCAR fan. Her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and for hockey, the Bears.
She also enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music. Her favorite gospel groups were the Gaithers, Gold City Quartet, Hoppers, and many others.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sisters, Jean C. married to Chester E. Immel of Rothsville and Joyce I. married to Troy R. Moyer, Sr. of Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Judy L. Grube.

She was married 57 years to Wilburt J. Stauffer.
She was a homemaker most of her life.
Mrs. Stauffer also worked for the V8 Cannery, Lititz, Elm Dale Rest Home, Lititz, Clay Elementary School Cafeteria and Minnich's Farm Bakery, Lititz, PA.
She was a member of White Oak Church of the Brethren, Manheim.
Mrs. Stauffer volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Lititz, Pa and was a life time member of the Brickerville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Her interest included traveling, public auctions, gardening, and she loved serving the lord and others.

SWANGER, ELMER S., 88, MANHEIM
Elmer S. Swanger, 88, of 1110 Anders Drive Morrisville, PA, formerly of Manheim, PA, died of natural causes on Sunday Morning, July 13, 2003 at Frankford Bucks Hospital, Lang Horn, PA.
Born in Mount Joy Township, he was the son of the late Irwin G. and Lizzie B. Sweigart Schwanger.
Mr. Swanger worked for over 20 years for the former Farm Bureau in Manheim, PA, retiring in 1976.
His wife Mildred S. Bender Swanger died on May 21, 1989.
He was a member of the Manheim Brethren in Christ Church; and a member of the Hemlock Archery Association, Lebanon, PA.
Mr. Swanger had a wide range of interest in antique cars of all types.
Surviving is a son John I. married to Betty M. Fry Swanger of Marietta, PA, Four daughters: Anna Ruth married to Clifford Hockley of Lebanon, PA; Barbara May married to Bill Diffenderfer of Lititz, PA, Mary Ann married to Ronald S. Barker, and Janice Marie Swanger both of Morrisville, PA, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Ray Swanger, and a sister, Florence Swanger.
