Eduardo C. "Eddie" Ortiz, 79, of 332 Woodbine Street, Harrisburg, died Sunday, January 4, 2004 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
He was a retired employee of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation with 35 years of service.
He is survived by his former wife, Anna M. Ortiz of Oberlin Gardens; his wife, Jody Skipper-Ortiz of Harrisburg; four sons, Carlos M. Ortiz of Harrisburg, Alvin L. Ortiz of Penbrook, Kenneth W. Ortiz of Camp Hill and Daniel S. Ortiz of Oberlin Gardens; one daughter, Delia M. Ortiz of Oberlin Gardens; two step-sons, Michael S. Skipper of Scottsdale, AZ and Patrick A. Skipper of Steelton; two step-daughters, Rita M. Schmidt of Windsor and Katharine D. Skipper of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nine step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 South Second Street, Steelton. Burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.

Henrietta A. Bruno
Henrietta A. Buccieri Bruno, 83, of the John H. Shook Home, Chambersburg and formerly of Steelton, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in Chambersburg Hospital.
She was a graduate of Steelton High School, Class of 1938; a retired Auditor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Treasury; a former employee of Olmsted Air Force Base, Elliot Fisher Co.; and a devout Catholic.
She was a former member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Steelton, where she served as a Eucharist Minister and Past President of the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She attended Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, Chambersburg and was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton; the American Businesswoman's Association; and the Merry Ann Senior Citizens Club.
She was the widow of Gaetano F. Bruno and is survived by two daughters, Georgiana R. Bard of Chambersburg, with whom she lived for eight years and Lynn A. Falcone of Steelton; one son, John F. Bruno of Hummelstown; one sister, Elsie Lupia of Steelton; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian DiFrancesco, Gilda Belmont, Agnes Buccieri and Rose Schostarich and three brothers, Samuel, Gilbert and Rocco Buccieri.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Samuel E. Houser and Msgr. Thomas R. Brenner as con-celebrants. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Viewing will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 South Second Street, Steelton.

Luis H. Segarra
Luis H. Segarra, 77, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in the Spring Creek Rehab and Health Center, Swatara Twp.
He was born in Puerto Rico and had lived in Brooklyn, NY, where he retired as a custodian.
He is survived by his wife, Ena Segarra; a son, Luis H. Segarra, Jr. of New York; a daughter, Nayda and her husband, Jose Eliezer Segarra of Harrisburg; two brothers, Jamie Segarra of Puerto Rico and Sam Segarra of Camp Hill; a sister, Eufelia Morales of Harrisburg; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Daniel C. Mitzel, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday in the Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, Harrisburg, with recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m.

Betty A. Bolton
Betty A. Swauger Bolton, 85, of Royalton, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
She was a retired key punch operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. She was a member of the Royalton Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the Rutherford House Senior Citizens Center.
She was the widow of Charles A. Bolton and is survived by a nephew, Ronald Slyder of Harrisburg; a niece, Eleanor Reichel of Harrisburg; and many other nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, 23rd and Derry Streets, Harrisburg. Burial in Shoop's Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., in the funeral home.

Caroline L. Gribble Sweitzer
Caroline L. Gribble Sweitzer, 68, of 2146 South Second Street, Steelton, died Sunday, January 11, 2004 in the Middletown Home, Lower Swatara Twp.
She was a retired Medicare Auditor for Capital Blue Cross and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Steelton, where she served as Church Organist, Women of the Moose Chapter 919, Steelton, where she served as Past Deputy Grand Regent for the State of Pennsylvania, and an associate member of Dauphin County Lodge 89 Fraternal Order of Police.
Caroline spent forty years of her life together with John H. Sweitzer, Sr. and is survived by one brother, Raymond L. Kepner of Chambers Hill; two nieces, Laurinda Yentzer and Judith Ann Davis, both of Perry County; and a nephew, Raymond L. Kepner, Jr. of New York; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second Street, with Rev. Gerald E. Schmidt, Jr., her pastor, officiating. Burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp. A viewing will be held from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, in the the funeral home. Women of the Moose Ritual will be conducted at 12:30 p.m.

Kyle Christopher Stoddart
Kyle Christopher Stoddart, 19 month old son of Jonah B. and Christina M. Kyle Stoddart, of 1245 Meadow Lane, Oberlin, died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 in M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lower Paxton Twp.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Ken and Theresa Nance of Harrisburg and Chuck Kyle of Charleston, WV; his paternal grandmother, Diane L. Lewis of Oberlin; his paternal grandfather, John L. Stoddart of Harrisburg; his maternal great-grandmother, Clarice Vargo of Danville; and his paternal great-grandmothers, Ruth Barry of York Haven and Ana Arosemena of Harrisburg.
FUNERAL SERVICES: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, in Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence, as celebrant. A viewing will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second Street, Steelton.

Gladys M. Rickert
Gladys M. Rickert, age 78, of Harrisburg, died Friday, January 16, 2004 in her home.
She was a retired employee of the Harrisburg Hospital Dietary Department for 21 years. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, crossword puzzles, dining out and traveling to Memorial Lake to enjoy the beauty of nature and most of all, her children and their families.
Gladys was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Rehrer, a brother, Richard Bitterman and was the widow of Donald D. Rickert.
She is survived by one son, Donald D. Rickert, at home; three daughters, Barbara A. Newmyer and her husband, Harvey of Hummelstown, Nancy L. Wotring and her husband, Woody of Rutherford and Carol M. Bowers and her husband, Charles of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Winifred Page of Hummelstown and June Klinger of Lykens; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and her life long friend, Verna Smith of Halifax.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 11 a.m., in the Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, 23rd and Derry Streets, Harrisburg. Burial in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Pansey I. Dorer
Pansey I. Klinger Dorer, 91, of Spring Creek Rebab and Health Center and formerly of Berryhill Street, Harrisburg, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 in the Center.
She was a retired housekeeper at the former Dauphin Manor and a former employee of the Harrisburg School District.
She was a member of Market Square Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir.
Surviving are two sons, James E. Dorer and Richard E. Dorer, both of Harrisburg and one grandchild.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second Street, Steelton, with Rev. James D. Brown, her pastor officiating. Burial in Paxtang Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.

Precious M. Rivera, newborn daughter of Jasmine Rivera and James Bailey, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 in the Harrisburg Hospital.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Graveside services will be held on Saturday (today) at 10 a.m., in the Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.

William J. Malesic
William J. Malesic, 77, of Bressler, passed onto our Lord at the Harrisburg Hospital on Saturday, January 24, 2004.
He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp., a Navy Veteran of World War II, was honorably discharged as a Seaman 2nd Class from the NTS Bainbridge, USS Warren, USS Wichita and was awarded the Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 4 stars, American Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 stars.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, St. Aloysius Club #42 and Steelton American Legion Post #420. In his youth, he served as a fireman for the community and was a member of the Bressler Friendship Fire Company. He attended Steel High and was a bingo connoisseur and an avid Steel High Roller fan.
Surviving are his wife, Marie E. Lescanec Malesic; his daughters, Melanie Zuvich and Melinda Randolph; brother of Joseph and Catherine Malesic; his grandchildren, Michelle and Howard Randolph, Joshua and Brittany Zuvich; his great-grandchildren, Joshua and Cameron and several nephews and a niece. James M. Bedard was his caring and loyal friend.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Samuel E. Houser as celebrant. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, in the Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. 2nd Street, Steelton.

Barbara M. Podnar Taleff
Barbara M. Podnar Taleff, 88, formerly of Londonderry Twp., and currently a resident of The Middletown Home, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
She was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Parish, Middletown and Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton.
She was the widow of George Taleff and is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Taleff of Lancaster and Mary Louise G. Taleff of Londonderry Twp., and four nieces. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Podner and two sisters, Anna and Mary Podner.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Steelton, with Rev. Samuel E. Houser as celebrant. Burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. 2nd Street, Steelton.

Brian W. Carolll
Brian W. Carroll, Sr., 62, of 6000 Chambers Hill Road, Swatara Twp., died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in the West Shore Health & Rehab Center.
He was a retired ironworker for the United Ironworkers Union, Local 404. He was the President of the Deutscher Quarter Club, Steelton and a member of VFW Post 710, Steelton, VFW Post 8638, Highspire, Fifth Ward Republican Club, St. Lawrence Lodge No. 13, Croatian Fraternal Union, St. Aloysius Lodge No. 42, KSKJ, Steelton Italian Club, St. Mary's Club, 40 et 8 Club and Verhovay Home Association.
He is survived by his wife, Carrianne "Jill" Carroll; a son, Brian W. Carroll, Jr. of Wellsville; two daughters, Stephanie E. Carroll of Dayton, OH and Michelle T. Smey of New Cumberland; one step son, Chad R. Zeigler and one step daughter, Shelly A. Sample, both of Harrisburg; four step children to a previous marriage; three grandchildren and eleven step grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second Street, Steelton. Burial in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, in the funeral home.

Rudolph J. Malesich
Rudolph J. Malesich, 76, of 815 East Main Street, Middletown, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 in his home.
He was a retired Master Chef at Inn 22, Santanna's, The Beachcomber and Indiantown Gap during the Cuban Refugee Settlement Program. He served as a Merchant Marine for 6 years.
Rudy was a "Self-Proclaimed Gypsy", traveling over the United States with his family. He was proud of his ethnic heritage as a "Steelton Boy" and attended many picnics at Cibort Park in Bressler. Rudy was very fond of ethnic music, especially polkas.
He was the son of the late John J. Malesich and Mary Forjan Malesich and was preceded in death by a sister, Mary "Toots" Mulholland. He was a former member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Steelton.
He is survived by his wife, Minerva B. Showalter Malesich; seven children, Harry J. Berrier of New Cumberland, Lois F. Eaton of Reed's Gap, Clark E. Berrier of Hummelstown, Sarah E. Zook of Harrisburg, Catherine M. Hartranft, Toni D. Malesic of Middletown and Linda L. Condran of Elizabethtown; two brothers, John J. Malesich and William R. Malesich, both of Harrisburg; 15 grandchildren, including John Hartranft of Middletown and Owen Malesich of Bainbridge and 23 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 South Second Street, Steelton. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be private.
