Patricia C. Kelly, 53, a lifelong area resident, died on Tuesday, Janaury 18th, 2005 at her home in Rhinebeck.
Pat’s passion and life was centered around her family and her career. For many years she worked at the Cornell Cooperative Extension in Millbrook, NY. Her responibilities, which cultivated a large number of friends and collegues, included community horticulture and coordination of the Master Gardener program. Her territory extend to Ulster, Columbia, Orange and Greene counties.
Born on November 10th, 1951, in Hudson, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Kelly and Mary (Barich) Kelly of Red Hook. A graduate with honors of Red Hook High School, she went on to earn her BA at Connecticut College. Her plans in 2005 were to pursue a masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction.
Along with her mother, she is survived by a sister: Susan & her husband Daren Kilgour of Milan, NY and three brothers: Thomas Kelly, Jr. of Red Hook, John Kelly & his wife Jodie Wische of Germantown, NY, and Kevin J. Kelly & his wife Maria Ciancanelli of Germantown, NY. Pat was a loving aunt to Regina, Rachael, Jeremy, Sawyer & Max Kelly and Jessalyn, Saren & Marisa Kilgour. Several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 24th, at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook, NY. The Rev. Xavier Santiago of will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery, Red Hook.

Louise M. Steele
White Sulphur Springs, NY
Louise M. Steele of White Sulphur Springs, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 71.
Louise was a lifelong resident born in Black Lake on July 4, 1933 to Clara French and the late Romeo Perrier. She was the widow of William V. Steele, whom she married on July 7, 1951. Mr. Steele passed away on July 13, 1983.
Louise had worked as a bookkeeper for Katz’s Bakery in Liberty.
Louise was a Charter Member of the White Sulphur Springs Fire
Department Ladies Auxiliary, had served as a Girl Scout leader, and had volunteered by delivering Meals on Wheels for the Sullivan County Office of the Aging. She had also attended the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.
Louise is survived by her mother Clare Bena of Columbia, SC; 1 son, Kenneth Steele and his fiancée Debbie Lorino of Liberty; 2 daughters, Linda S. Holmes and her husband Lyman R. of Wurtsboro, and Donna Houman of White Sulphur Springs. She is also survived by 3 sisters Jeanette Hyzer of New Windsor, Albertine Perrier of Owego, and Celia Perrier of Columbia, SC; 10 grandchildren; Jennifer, Matthew, Carolyn, and Kevin Holmes, Nicole and Theresa Steele, Zachariah Mercer, and Andrew, Kelly, and Taylor Lorino, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by 1 son William J. Steele.
The family will receive friends at Ramsay’s Funeral Homes, Inc 275 South Main Street, Liberty, on Monday, January 17, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The White Sulphur Springs Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will conduct services on Monday at 7:30 PM in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 12 Noon. Rev. Bridgette Leconey will officiate.
Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery White Sulphur Springs.
The family has requested memorial donations to be made to the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department Route 52 White Sulphur Springs, NY 12787, or the American Lung Association of Hudson Valley 35 Orchard Street White Plains, NY 10603-9924.

John Molinari, 89, a 25 year resident of Red Hook, died Friday, January 14, 2005, at home surrounded by loved ones.
John was born April 3, 1915 in Brdo, Istria. He was the son of Antonio and Francesca Malinari. John married Nevia Pezzulich on Oct 15, 1936 in Brdo, Istria. She predeceased him on September 23, 1981. Two sisters, Ivana and Enrica Pezzulich and two brothers, Tony and Frank Malinari, also predeceased him.
He is survived by two daughters, Dolores Lesica and her husband Dennis, of Red Hook, NY and Livia Dober and her husband Jerry of Red Hook, NY.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Renée A. Ure and her husband Don of Morrisville, NC, Tracy Dober of Red Hook, NY, John Lesica of Red Hook, NY, and Dennis Lesica of Red Hook, NY; his great grandchildren, Brad and Cameron Ure of Morrisville, NC and Samantha and Mackensie Abela of Red Hook, NY; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
John was a tugboat engineer on the Hudson River for 40 years retiring in 1978. After his retirement, he moved from Brooklyn to Red Hook where he resided with his daughter Dolores Lesica and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Monday, Jan. 17th, at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Red Hook.

Mary Anne Duda, 68, a longtime Rhinebeck resident, passed away, Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at the Veterans Affair Medical Center, Bronx, NY.
Mrs. Duda served in the US Marine Corps from 1954 to 1955. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Church, Rhinebeck.
Born May 18, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of Alexander and Catherine D. (Fraley) Gleason.
She was predeceased by her husband Vincent Crowley on November 19, 2003
Mrs. Duda is survived by a brother William Gleason of Tuckerton, NJ, a sister Arlene Stofey of New Egypt, NJ, a brother Edward Gleason of Browns Mill, NJ; 2 grandchildren, 3 Great Granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Robert Donnell.

Bernard M. Lasher

Bernard M. Lasher, 82, of Bearsville, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at The Thompson House, Rhinebeck, NY.
Mr. Lasher was a former resident of Dutchess County and the owner of the Red Hook Floral Shop, Red Hook, NY for many years until his retirement to the Woodstock area.
He was a graduate of Red Hook High School and Cornell University. He served in the US Army during WW II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
Mr. Lasher was an avid gardener and his timid cat, Sandy, was a constant companion. He was a strong supporter of the SPCA in both Ulster and Dutchess Counties
Born May 22, 1922 in Hudson, NY, the son of Laura B. (Potts) and Murvin Lasher.
He is survived by his sister Doris Tieder of Rhinebeck, two nephews Sheldon D. Tieder of Rhinebeck, John B. Tieder, Jr. of Annapolis, MD, and a niece Rae E. Rudat of Saratoga, NY.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2005, 11 AM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Rev. Mark Isaacs of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Manorton Cemetery, in the spring.

Anthony N. Marshall a Lifelong resident of New Windsor, died peacefully on December 11, 2004 at the home. Of his nephews Glenn Marshall He was almost 91. Born on December 23, 1913 in Newburgh to the late Nicholas and Maria Carione Marshall.
Anthony was a truant officer for Vails Gate School District for 8 years until being elected as New Windsor Assessor in 1948, He held that position for 25 years until being elected for the Assessment Board of Review, and then the Town Councilman from 1970-1974.He was a life member of the Vails Gate Fire Dept and a member of the Benevolent Association for Vails Gate Fire Department. He was the Past Assistant Chief of the Vails Gate Fire Dept. He was a lion Tamer for the Lions Club, and a Member of the Little Britain Grange. He was also a New Windsor Democratic Committeeman. Anthony also worked for Gordon Tuttle and Abbott and Mills Fuel Oil Company retiring in 1978.
A Family statement read: "Anthony loved life; he loved his family, children, brothers, sisters, many, nieces and nephews, friends and aquanintances, his tomatoes and hot peppers". 1953 Anthony Married Rita Monahan Herman Marshall. Rita died in 1973. Survivors include his loving daughter
Lorraine and her husband Charles Herring, Dear Nephews Glenn Marshall, and Barry Marshall his wife Mary Ann and daughter Dawn Marie Marshall., Dear Brother, Nicholas, Loving Sister Dorothy and her husband Joseph DeFeo, and Theresa Hunter, Dear Sister in Laws Marie Marshall and Agnes Marshall, Dear Brother In Law Joseph DeGregorio, Cherished grandson
Eric Herring. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles, Harry and William Marshall, Sister Lena DeGregorio, Sister in Laws, Blanche Marshall, and Ann O?Shaughnessy Marshall. Brother in Law Richard Hunter, and a grandson Charles Herring II. , Brother and Sister in Law Frank and Mary Burczik , Brother In Laws Dennis and John "Bubba" Monahan.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, December 13, 2004 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Coloni Funeral Home 3001 Route 9W, New Windsor, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 14, 2004 at 10:30 am St. Joseph?s Church New Windsor. Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Frederick H. Cassens

Frederick H. Cassens, 95, of Rhinebeck, NY, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at the Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck. A Rhinebeck resident since 2001, Mr. Cassens lived in Waldwick, NJ from the mid 1960’s until he moved to High Falls, NY in 1984.
A graduate of the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn with a degree in graphic arts, he was art director for the Mosell & Eisen Advertising Agency in New York City for 17 years. He also worked at Burkhardt Brothers in Yonkers, and as a freelance commercial artist.
For 20 years Mr. Cassens volunteered as the Art Director for the Waldwick High School graduation balls.
During World War II, he voilunteered with the Army Ambulance Corps in Harlem.
Born March 9, 1909, in Yonkers, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick J.D. and Louise (Kraft) Cassens. His wife, Grace (McCoy) Cassens, predeceased him in December of 1977. Hissecond wife, Marion Stevenson, also predeceased him.
He is survived by one daughter and one son: Muriel Baumann of Mahwah, NJ and Kenwood C. Cassens of Stone Ridge, NY, three grandchildren: Ryan Cassens, T.R. Baumann, and Fritz Baumann, a great granddaughter: Taeah Hope Baumann.
There will be no calling hours.

William Turski, 88, passed away Monday, January 10, 2005 at the Ferncliff Nursing Home.
Mr. Turski was a former Kingston and New York City Resident.
He was born December 6, 1916 and served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945.

Katherine C. DePreter, 90, a longtime Red Hook resident, died Tuesday, January 11th, 2005 at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.
For many years she was a clerk with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City.
Katherine was a member of St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook and the Red Hook Post #7765, VFW, Ladies Auxilliary.
Born October 22nd, 1914, in Rhinebeck, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jerry P. Zitz, Sr. and Catherine (Cheresna) Zitz.
Katherine married John C. DePreter on December 6, 1947 at St. Christopher´s Church in Red Hook. John predeceased her on October 5, 1994.
Survived by two sisters: Louise Ressler of Copake, NY and Molly VanHavere of Kannapolis, NC and three brothers: John, Vincent and Alfred Zitz of Rhinebeck, NY.
She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Apap and a brother, Jerry Zitz.

Marie Carol Jornov, 56, of Hudson and a lifetime area resident, died Sunday, January 9th, 2005 at Columbia Greene Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.
Born on February 5th, 1948, in Rhinebeck, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert Navins and Dorothy (Bathrick) Navins of Red Hook.
In 1969, Marie married Franklyn E. Jornov in Tivoli. He survives at home.
Along with her husband and her mother, she is survived by a daughter: Jennifer Kline of Germantown, NY and one son: Darren Jornov of Hudson, NY. Two sisters: Patty Meyers and Barbara Quinlan, both of Red Hook, NY, two brothers: Robert Navins of Germantown, NY and Joseph Navins of Red Hook, NY, 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 pm at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. The Rev. Ryan T. Nace will officiate. Interment will be private at the Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck.

Nancy Louise Meyer
Reidsville, NC
Nancy Louise Meyer, daughter of Otto and Louise Huth Tatar of Rhinebeck, died Saturday, December 25, 2004 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC.
Nancy was born in Rhinebeck, April 1950. She was a 1968 graduate of Red Hook Central School and attended Wagner College.
Nancy became a VISTA volunteer where she met her husband, Gary Meyer. After their marriage, Nancy stayed active in social work, especially with youth. Nancy's love of music was a bright beam of light in her life. She was the organist at her church until her health made it not possible to continue. Nancy was employed as a driver's license examiner for the state of North Carolina at the time of her death.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy is survived by her precious three daughters, Elizabeth Meyer of Washington, D.C., Abigail Meyer of Washington, D.C., and Sarah Meyer of Reidsville, NC. A granddaughter; Gabrielle Brundage, daughter of Elizabeth, her brother; Paul and his wife Carol Tatar of Trumansburg, NY and many relatives and friends also survive.
A funeral was held on December 27, 2004 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Reidsville, NC.
A celebration of Nancy's joyous life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 15, 2005, at the Rock City Memorial Lutheran Church at 1232 Pt. 308, Rhinebeck.
The family will be available to visit with friends and relatives from 12:30pm until 1:45pm at the parish house next to the church. The service will begin at 2pm and a repast will take place at the parish house immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s memory to the Hospice of your choice or to the Memorial Lutheran Church.

Lynford Lardner Starr, age 78, died at Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY on January 6, 2005. He has lived in Rhinebeck since 1987.
Born on June 7th, 1926, he was the son of Dr. Isaac Starr and Edith Page Starr. His father was Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Medical faculty and a prominent heart specialist. Lynford is a descendant of the Lardner family, which worked with William Penn in the establishment of Philadelphia
After serving in the army in Europe in World War II, Mr. Starr graduated from Harvard University. He lived in Paraguay, worked in international sale for Volkswagen, and then lived many years in France.
Mr. Starr's wife, Jacqueline, pre-deceased him. His son Alexander of Redondo Beach, CA, his daughter, Susannah Mendonca of Rochester, NH, his long-time friend Nicholas McCausland of Rhinebeck, and a sister Vidal Clay of Westport, CT and brother Harold Starr of Chestnut Hill, PA. survive him.
A memorial service will be held at the Starr family summer lodge near Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Anthony C. Crisci, 58, of Tivoli, NY, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.
For many years, he was a bus driver, employed by Liberty Lines in Yonkers, NY
Anthony was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.
Born on December 11, 1946, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of Joseph and the late Christina (Gigante) Crisci. Anthony married Yvonne Josephine Castro. Yvonne, his daughter Samantha, and his son Joseph died in fire December 1973.
Along with his father of Tivoli, two brothers survive him: Michael Crisci of Poughkeepsie, NY and Thomas Crisci of Tivoli, NY. Four nieces; Tabatha Eaton, Tina Crisci, April Crisci, and Regina Dugan along with three nephews; Thomas, Joseph and Philip Crisci also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 11th at St. Sylvia's Church, Tivoli, NY. The Rev. H. Theriault of will officiate. Burial will be at St. Sylvia's Cemetery, Tivoli, NY.

Malcolm R. Demarest, 80, a lifelong Rhinebeck resident, passed away Friday, January 07, 2005, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Born December 11, 1924 in Rhinebeck, he was the son of William E. and Cornelia (Feller) Demarest.
Mr. Demarest was employed by Schatz Federal Bearing, Poughkeepsie, for 28 years and was a life member of the Rhinebeck Fire Department.
He was predeceased by his wife Alice E. Demarest on March 9, 1990.
Mr. Demarest is survived by a son David Demarest of Red Hook, a daughter Maryann Hexel of Hyde Park, a sister Dorothy D. Shaut of Poughkeepsie, his companion Eunice Feller and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Arnold Demarest.
Calling hours are Sunday, January 9, 2005, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Members of the Rhinebeck Fire Dept. will conduct services at 7 PM.
Funeral services are Monday, 10 AM, at the Funeral Home. Rev. Thaddeus Dragula of the First Baptist Church of Rhinebeck will officiate. Burial will be in the Schultzville cemetery in the spring.

Betty C. Miller, 88, passed Monday, January 3, 2005, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital
Mrs. Miller was born in Rhinebeck on May 20, 1916 the daughter of William P. and Florence Cooper Crockwell.
Mrs. Miller was a lifelong member of the Church of the Messiah and served the church as directress of the Altar Guild, on the Vestry Committee, as a Eucharistic Lay Reader and as a Warden.
She also was an avid Bridge Player, a Braille Volunteer and a Docent at Mills Mansion.
She was a graduate of Rhinebeck High School and Dutchess Community College. Following the death of her husband she became a licensed Real Estate Broker.
She was predeceased by her husband Clyde K. Miller Jr. on August 6, 1969.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter Leah C. Miller of Staatsburg, a son Clyde K. Miller III of Hyde Park, 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother William Crockwell and a sister Margaret Hopkins.
Memorial services are Saturday, January 8, 2005, 10:30 AM at the Church of the Messiah, Montgomery St., Rhinebeck. Burial will be in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.

Mr. Muller was a computer programmer for IBM East Fishkill. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Pleasant Valley. He enjoyed computers and golfing..

Calling hours are 6-8 p.m., today, Jan. 7, at the Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Route 44, Pleasant Valley, with Father Quinn officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

John "Jack" Jarvies
Port Jervis, NY
John "Jack" Jarvies, of Port Jervis, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 74.
The son of the late Edward A. Jarvies and Mary Isabel Jarvies, he was born June 20, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was married to Rose Marie Chadband Jarvies, who survives. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis; Veteran of the US Navy, Korean War and Viet Nam. Jack was the Commanding Officer of the USS Carbonero SS 337 and served aboard 5 different Submarines. He was also a member of the US Submarines Veterans Inc. Hudson Valley Base, Post 8645, past commander and member of the Holland Club, New Paltz. Jack was a Retired Commander of the US Navy after 22 years of service. He was also a retired production manager for Domino Sugar, Philadelphia, Pa. and Ret. plant manager for Wick-Hen Products, Port Jervis, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife at home; Rose Chadband Jarvies; son, Gregg Jarvies and his wife Angela of Hillsborough, N.C.; five daughters, Janice Jarvies of Clementon, N.J., Barbara Jarvies of Norristown, Pa., Joanne Christaldi and her husband Joseph of Berlin, N.J., Patricia Herrera and her husband Raul of Old Bridge, N.J., Maureen Cadena and her husband Marco of Quito, Ecuador; one brother, Richard Jarvies and wife Maria of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Anne Carroll and Maryanne Coleman and her husband Dean all of Kennesaw, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Laura, Kevin, Chuck, Cathy, Stephanie, Samantha, Olivia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his stepmother, Wilhemena Jarvies.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 7 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 8 at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis. The Rev. Kuriakose will officiate.
USSVI will conduct services Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The vigil wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday.
Interment will be private.

Kenneth J. Hoeg
Port Jervis, N.Y.
Kenneth J. Hoeg, a retired police officer for the Port Jervis Police Dept., and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 52.
The son of the late Anthony J. and Catherine Galligan Hoeg, he was born March 8, 1952 in Brooklyn.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Port Jervis. Ken graduated with honors in August 1980 with a Degree in Police Science/Criminal Justice from Orange County Community College. He was a member of the Retired Police Assoc.-State of New York; Police Conference of New York; former member of the Port Jervis P.B.A.; CSEA; and a retiree Local 917. In 1974, he served as a special police officer with both the Westchester County Parkway Police and the Village of Briarcliff Police Department. From 1975 to 1978, Ken served the Town of Deerpark as the first full-time police officer. Ken was a strong advocate of donating blood to the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Mercy Lian Sing Hoeg at home; one daughter, Naomi Hoeg at home; one son, Charles Hoeg and his wife Carly of Dunmore, Pa.; four sisters, Patricia Hoeg Walter-Riendeau and husband Ron of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Maureen Flood and husband Neil, Theresa Traher and husband Lee all of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Kathleen Coffey and husband George of Pleasantville; one brother, Anthony Hoeg Jr. and his wife Dylis also of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one granddaughter, Catherine Hoeg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, January 7 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Port Jervis. The Rev. James Brosius and the Rev. Ross Brittain will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush.

Betty Spada
Kingston, NY
Betty Spada, of Crane Street, Kingston died Friday, January 7, 2005 at Kingston Hospital. She was 88.
Her husband Michael G. Spada died October 31, 1997. Her brother, Cpl. Vincent A. Yonta was killed in action in Korea in 1953; her sister Viola Davide died in 1997.
Surviving are her son Michael A. Spada Jr. of Kingston; her daughter Donna Marie Spada of Kingston; her sisters Josephine Primo and Jeanette Provenzano; her brothers Michael, Thomas, Donald and Robert Yonta; her grandchildren Diana Spada, Yvonne Herrington and her husband Scott, Lisa Bruck and her husband, the late John; Lori Redding and her husband Robert; and Michael G. Spada and his wife Angela; great grandmother of Taylor John Bruck, Chelsea Elizabeth Herrington, Alexandria Theresa Spada, Charles Lee Herrington; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 12:00, Fr. Frank J. Damis will officiate. Entombment will be in Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.

Everett H. "Stretch" Roosa
Sullivan County, NY
Everett H. "Stretch" Roosa, a lifetime Sullivan County resident, passed away on Friday December 31, 2004 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center. He was 86.
The son of Isaac and Augusta Lehmann Roosa, he was born on April 30, 1918 in Willowemoc, NY.
Stretch was a self-employed electrician and was the founder and former owner of Electro-Electric Co. in Liberty. He was a 50-year member of F&AM Liberty Lodge #521 and was also a 50-year member of IBEW. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during WW II.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Roosa and his wife Renee of Boonsboro, MD and Michael Roosa and his wife Donna of Jeffersonville; one daughter, Patricia DeJesus and her husband Henry of Liberty; 7 grandchildren, Zachary Mungeer, Abby DeJesus, Dillon Roosa, Nicholas Roosa, Lauren Roosa, Emily Roosa and Alison Roosa and one great-granddaughter Aaliyah Blount.
He was predeceased by his wife Florence McGuire Roosa in 1987; a son, Harold Roosa and a sister, Lyda Charter.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Ramsay's Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Steiglich officiated.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Jazman Boyles
Jazman Boyles, infant daughter of Dennis Boyles and Heather Lynch Boyles, died on Saturday, January 1, 2005 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 6 weeks old.
She was born on November 19, 2004 at Westchester Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents, Dennis and Heather Boyles at home; her maternal great-grandparents, Patricia and Ronald Houman of Monticello; her paternal great-grandmother, Barbara Saberg of Highland Falls; maternal grandmother, Tammy Lynch of Liberty; paternal grandparents Cheryl and Milford Boyles of Swan Lake; and a sister, Shyann Boyles of Liberty.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Carl H. Bloat Sr., a 20-year area resident, died on Tuesday January 4, 2005 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. He was 72.
The son of the late John A. and Anna May Thurman Bloat, he was born on Dec.19, 1932 in Louisville, KY.
He was the owner of C & M Conveyors in Liberty. Mr. Bloat was a member of St. Peter's Church in Liberty.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ursula Zier Bloat at home; 3 sons, Carl H. Bloat Jr. and his wife Kandace of Liberty, Mark A. Bloat and his wife Cathy of Liberty and Roger W. Bloat and his wife Neira of Baldwin, NY; 2 daughters, Barbara N. Bloat and her husband Jerry Guill of Tempe, AZ and April M. Bloat and her fiancé Chris Santillo of Liberty; a special sister-in-law Irmagard Turner of Louisville KY; a special brother-in-law, Martin Mark of Germany; 13 grandchildren, Mercedes, Blü, Kilian, Markielynn, Mark Jr., Faith, Hope, Melissa, Jillian, Adam, Nicholas, Carl William Sommer and Joseph Klug; and 4 great-grandchildren, Christopher Klug, Arissa Klug, Brittney Klug and Abigail Sommer.
A brother and 3 sisters predeceased him.

Ms. Vanessa Rivera of Garrison, NY a former resident of Port Jervis, lost her battle with Aplastic Anemia on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. She was 26.
She was born September 8, 1978 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of Donna Douglas and Efrain Rivera.
A 1996 graduate of Port Jervis High School, she later graduated from Sullivan County Community College and Panama City Beach Culinary Institute, Panama City Beach, FL
She is survived by her mother: Donna Douglas of Wurtsboro, NY; her father: Efrain Rivera of Greenville Township, NY; her fiance: Jeff Noah of Fort Meyer, FL; her
maternal grandmother: Mary Lou Corey of Greenville Township, NY; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Wurtsboro. The Rev. Peter Madori officiated.
Burial will be at Westbrookville Cemetery, Westbrookville, NY.
Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis.

Mr. Joseph Ladstatter of Matamoras, PA retired from A & W Products, Port Jervis and 45 year resident of the area, died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 97.
He was born February 23, 1907 in Yugoslavia, the son of the late Valentine and the late Marija Bitenec Ladstatter.
A former Rail Road Engineer in Yugoslavia, he was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, PA.
Surviving are his daughter: Maria Vecerin Rego Park, NY; 3 granddaughters; 4 great-grandchildren and nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Joseph's R.C. Church. The Rev. August A. Ricciardi officiated.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.
Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
