Nellie R. Calkin, a lifetime White Sulphur Springs resident, died on Saturday February 12, 2005 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty. She was 88.
Nellie was the daughter of the late Fenelon and Romelia Segar Hill and was born on October 30, 1916 in White Sulphur Springs, NY. She was the widow of Robert “Dale” Calkin who died in 2001.
Nellie was a retired Town Clerk for the Town of Liberty, a position she had for many years. She was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and was a member and Past Matron for Revonah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving her are 2 sons Robert Calkin and his wife Teddy of Cody. Wyoming and Neal Calkin and his wife Lucilla of Youngsville; 1 daughter, Katherine Traxler and her husband William of Stony Brook, NY; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A grandson Michael Calkin predeceased her.
Friends may call at Ramsay’s Funeral Home 275 S. Main St. Liberty on Thursday February 17, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Ramsey’s Funeral home on Friday February 18, 2005 at 1 PM with Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.

Milton Kortright
Neversink, NY
Milton Kortright, a lifetime resident of Neversink, passed away on Sunday February 13, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, He was 71.
The son of Earl and Bertha Muthig Kortright, he was born on Oct. 20, 1933 in Neverisnk, NY.
Milton was a retired mechanic for the Department of Environmental Protection in Grahamsville, NY. He was a lifetime member of the Neversink Fire Dept; a 50-year member of the Hunter Road Hunting Club and a member of the Neversink First Aide Squad. He was also an Army Veteran serving from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Doris Misner Kortright at home; a daughter, Donna Donovan and her husband Nelson (Red) of Neversink; 3 brothers, Clifford Kortright and his wife Ruth of Parksville, Preston Kortright of Neversink and Sherman Kortright and his wife Violet of Neversink; 2 grandchildren, Patrick E. and Julianne E. Donovan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 5 brothers, Gilbert, Ivan (Bob), Earl Jr. (Pete), Albert (Mike) and Roy (Dutch) Kortright.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middlehope, NY.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Rufino J. Rivero
Red Hook, NY
Rufino J. Rivero, 91, of Red Hook and formerely of Wappinger Falls, NY, died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.
Mr. Rivero, for many years before his retirement, was an engineer with IBM in East Fishkill, NY.
He was an avid reader and he enjoyed to travel.
Born on July 19th, 1913, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Rufino and Isabelle (Jusino) Rivero. Rufino married Evelyn Ernst and she survives at home in Red Hook.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Ana Campbell of Villas, NJ and one son: Jose Rivero of Fort Worth, TX, a step daughter, Lisa Gilman of Red Hook, NY; and two step sons, John Lovecchio of Imperial, CA and James Lovecchio of Ringwood, NJ. Twelve grandchildren and 1 great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at Wiltwyck Crematory, Kingston.
There will be no calling hours.

Doris A. Lawson, 83, a lifelong Red Hook resident, died Thursday, February 10th, 2005 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.
For over 20 years, Mrs. Lawson worked for Continental Telephone in Red Hook. She retired in 1983.
Doris was a member of United Methodist Church of Red Hook and a former member of the Chancellor Livingston Chapter of the D.A.R.
Born on January 27th, 1922, in Milan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank C. and Florence (Stickles) Wolcott.
Doris married Augustus Lawson on May 31, 1941 in Elizaville, NY. Mr. Lawson predeceased her on June 12, 1994
Survived by one daughter: Janet Lawson of Claverack, NY and a son and daughter in law: Richard & Linda Lawson of Red Hook. Two sisters: Arlene Farrell of Camden, Maine and Vivian Quinn of LaGrange, NY, one brother: Delevan Wolcott of Rhinebeck, NY, four grandchildren: Rebecca Wood, Brian & Jason lawson of Red Hook, and Matthew Lawson of Waterviliet, NY, 4 great grandchildren: Andrew Augustus Lawson, Jasmine Nichole Lawson, Kaleigh Elizabeth Wood & Daniel Jay Wood, and two step great grandchildren: Heather & Christine Butler also survive.
A sister, Lucille Holden, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 14th, 2005 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY. The Reverend David Jolly of will officiate. Burial will be at Elizaville Methodist Cemetery, Elizaville.

Adelaide C. Roddis, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 89 years of age.
She was the daughter of the late Walter and Mamie L. LaRosa Donovan. She was born on October 25, 1915 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Adelaide was an area resident for 53 years and was retired as a waitress at Corey's Restaurant and Singer's Restaurant in Liberty.
She is survived by her husband Albert Roddis of Liberty; 2 daughters, Audrey Belton and her husband Grant of Leesburg FL and Charlotte Tinker Bullock and her husband John of Loch Sheldrake; a sister Pearl Degnan of Cleveland, OH; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Charlotte Huggins and Lorraine Dorn, predeceased her.
Memorial services were held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 3, 2005 with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, N.Y.

Joan C. Balzano
Monticello, NY
Joan C. Balzano of Monticello, a homemaker and a resident of the area since 1990, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 68 years of age.
The daughter of the late Edward J. and Marie Tormey McVeety, she was born May 23, 1938 in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Balzano was a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church of Monticello.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Darlene Balzano of Long Island and Joseph and Theresa Balzano of Harris; a sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and John Hawkins of Idaho; and five grandchildren Joseph, Jordan, Stephanie, Aleah and Kassey.
A grandson, Justin Balzano, predeceased her.
A Memorial Mass was offered on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at St. Peter’s Church, Monticello, with the Rev. Robert Ginel officiating.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay’s Funeral Home in Monticello.

Florence Kinne
Mongaup Valley, NY
Florence Kinne of Mongaup Valley, a longtime area resident, a retired evening nursing supervisor at the Sullivan County Infirmary and a surgical nurse at the former Hamilton Avenue Hospital in Monticello, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at her home after a courageous battle with heart disease. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Daniel and Christine Mikula Kowalchik, she was born December 22, 1925, in Dickson City, Pa. She was the widow of Fred V. Kinne who died in 1987.
She and her husband formerly owned the Reddy Trucking Co. in Monticello which he ran with their two sons.
Mrs. Kinne was a member of the Mongaup Valley United Methodist Church
In a family statement, it was said "She has spent the last 17 years doting on her beautiful sons, James and Fred. During the last five months, when Mom needed 24-hour care, her 'daughter', Christiane and her 'son', Fred III, came and took excellent care of her so she could spend her final days in the home she loved so dearly."
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred V. and Carol Kinne of Mongaup Valley and James and Avis Kinne of White Lake; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and John Pronko of Olyphant, Pa. and Lorraine and Thomas Maxwell of Cheshire, Conn.; five grandchildren, Fred V. Kinne III and his wife, Christiane, Shannon Kinne, Christine Brodsky, Philip Kinne and Louis Kinne; and a great-granddaughter Sonia Brodsky. She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Kowalchik and Dolores Powe.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Mongaup Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating.

Virginia Mae Keys
Middletown, NY
Virginia Mae Williams Keys of Middletown, NY passed into glory, Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at ORMC, Horton Campus. She was 81 years old.
She was born June 28, 1923 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late Oscar A. Williams, Sr. and the late Ethel L. Brinson Williams.
Ms. Keys was a staunch human rights advocate working relentlessly with many agencies and government officials in securing services for individuals in need of assistance.
An OCCC graduate, she served as past chairperson of RECAP Board of Directors and City of Port Jervis Police Matron. She volunteered her time to work with female inmates in Orange County Jail as well as other heartfelt endeavors.
For years she was a hostess at Paradise Farm Resort in Cuddebackville, NY and regularly honored requests to sing with various bands in attendance.
She will always be remembered for her charisma, strong will, loving heart and total devotion to her faith, family and friends.
Ms. Keys was a member of Wickham Methodist Church in Port Jervis.
She is survived by son: Edward A. Keys & his wife, of Mimi Port Jervis, NY; Patricia Keys of Middletown; 2 brothers: Oscar A. Williams, Jr. of Paterson, NJ and Eugene E. Williams of Middletown; 5 grandchildren: Randy Keys & his wife, Roberta, Terri-Jo Delaney & her husband Benjamin, Toni Keys, Paula Cooper all of Middletown and Douglas Blair Port Jervis; also great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her sister, Lucille Beach, a grandson, Joseph Blair Keys and a great-grandson, Kyle Keys.

Mrs. Mary Catherine Pancurak of Port Jervis, NY a 5 year resident of Port Jervis, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ. She was 91.
She was born May 12, 1913 in Yonkers, NY the daughter of the late Stephen and the late Katherine Karczynska Wanko.
She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis.
Surviving are her husband: Paul P. Pancurak at home; son: Randolph Karpinski of Sparrowbush, NY; daughter: Lorraine Larsen Sandefjord, of Norway; 3 grandsons: Joseph Karpinski of So. Centerville, NY, Robert Karpinski W. of Henrietta, NY, and
Michael Karpinski Patchoque, NY; and 5 great-grandchildren.

John Hicks

Mr. John Hicks of Port Jervis, NY retired from New York City Dept. of Water Resources and resident of Port Jervis for most of his life, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind. He was 93.
He was born February 21, 1911 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Nicholas and the late Mary Rooney Hicks.
He was the widow of the late Marie DiSpirito Hicks; she died Aug. 18, 1999.
He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis; Local 924 D.C. 37 AFSCME; he was also an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and member of the Roosa-Fleming VFW Post No. 161; 15th Air Force Ass´n; and 461st & 484th Bomb Groups Ass´n..
Surviving are his son David J. Hicks & his wife, Debbie of Manchester, IND; his
sister Patricia McKeon of Port Jervis, NY and nieces & nephews.

Ruth M. Moore
Coxsackie, NY
Ruth M. Moore, 87, a resident of Coxsackie, formerly of Red Hook, NY died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005 at the Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.
Born April 17, 1917, in Lynbrook, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Harriet Soper. On June 21, 1937, on Long Island, she married William C. Moore, Sr. He died on Oct. 22, 2000.
She and her husband moved to Red Hook from Long Island in 1956, where they opened Moore’s Toy and Hobby Center. Over 22 years the business grew and became Moore’s Bike and Hobby Center.
While living in Red Hook, she was a member of the Red Hook United Methodist Church, and a volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels.
In 1978 they retired and moved to Athens, NY, then in 1988, they moved to Bethany Village in Coxsackie, NY, where she lived until her death.
Ruth is survived by a son & daughter-in-law; William C. & Johanna M. Moore, Jr. of Red Hook, and two grandsons; Jeremiah E. Moore of Lake Tonowanda, NY and Benjamin W. Moore of Red Hook.
A brother, Jeremiah Soper, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, Feb. 28th, at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. Pastor Caroline Lewis will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.

S. Sam Fratoni
Rhinebeck, NY
S. Sam Fratoni, 84, of Rhinebeck and formerley of Kingston, NY, died Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.
For 35 years, Mr. Fratoni was an Engineer with IBM. Prior to his retirement in 1977, he did educational and fundraising work for IBM.
Following his retirement from IBM, Mr. Fratoni became involved with meeting the needs of senior citizens throughout the area. First as a volunteer at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck and later as an Ombudsman for the Ulster County Department for the Aging. For many years, Mr. Frantoni ran a twice monthly -free nursing home selections program for the Office of the Aging at Beneditine Hospital in Kingston.
Mr. Fratoni is the Chairman of the Christian Media Associates, an organization that operates christian radio stations, since its inception in 1983. The Christian Media Associates born by he & his wife Rosalee, in an effort to bring Family Radio broadcasts to the Hudson Valley. As a result of their efforts, Christian Media Associates was formed and in May of 1982 the Rhinebeck radio translator went on air.
Sam was a past member of Rhinebeck Rotary Club, past beach chairman and current chairman of the "Sunshine Club" for Sepasco Village Homeowners Association in Rhinebeck, past President of the United Way of Ulster County, past member of the Lions Club in Kingston, a member of ComCare International - an orgainization that provides hearing aids to third world countries, a member of the Working Witness Program - which is an international mission program that afforded him the opportunity to travel and provided mission assistance to Venezuela, Portugual, Mexico, Arizona and Costa Rica, and a volunteer for Hospice, Inc.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Born on October 14, 1920, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Antonio and Lucia (Canafari) Fratoni. Mr. Fratoni married Rosalee Shipp on September 29, 1945. Rosalee survives at home in Rhinebeck.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Sandra Lee Williams of Honeybrook, PA, Linda Klein of Poughquag, NY and two sons: S. Sam Fratoni. Jr. of South Portland, ME and R. Steven Fratoni of Wilbraham, MA. Seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, February 25th, 2005 at Church Of The Comforter in Kingston, NY. The Rev. David Brechter of will officiate. Burial will be private in the Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, NY.
There will be no calling hours.

Edith Kennedy
Longtime Red Hook, NY Resident
Edith Kennedy, 100, a longtime Red Hook resident, died Monday, February 21st, 2005 at the Ashlar of Newtown in Newtown, CT.
Mrs. Kennedy was a wonderful artist who worked with oil paints. She primarily did portatits. Her portrait of Egbert Benson hangs in the Elmendorph Inn in Red Hook.
For many years, she was a Librarian, employed by Polly Clinic in NY.
Edith was a member of Red Hook Senior Citizens.
Born on March 20, 1904, in Arlington, MA, she was the daughter of Egbert E. and Florence (Gott) Stackpole.
Edith married Walter C. Kennedy in 1932 in New York, NY. Walter predeceased her on November 28, 1989.
She is survived by a sister: Ruth Baker of Moorefield, WV, two nieces, Ann S. Martin of Bethel, CT; niece, Judith Ziem of Weston, CT; a nephew, David Stackpole of BeVard, NC; and seven great nieces & nephews.
Graveside services & interment will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday February 26th, 2005 at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook, NY.
There will be no calling hours.

Elizabeth A. Grudell
Rhinebeck, NY
Elizabeth A. Grudell, 59, of Rhinebeck, NY, died Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005 at her home in Rhinebeck.
For many years, until her retirement in December of 2004, she was a Registered Nurse with Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Liz was a communicant of Church of the Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck
Born on May 12, 1945, in Coldwater, MI, she was the daughter of Arthur and Gladys (Gray) Hagerman. She was a graduate of Union City High School in Michigan and received her B.S. from the University of Michigan. Liz went on to earn her Master’s in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. She also was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Society at Mount Saint Mary.
Elizabeth married Norman J. Grudell on Aug. 20, 1966 in Union City, Michigan. Mr Grudell survives at home.
Along with her husband, she is survived by three sons and daughter in laws: Phillip & April Grudell of Rochester, MN, Brian & Maryanna Grudell of Bethlehem, PA, and Jason & Beth Grudell of Columbus, OH. Two brothers & sister in laws: H. Michael & Marilyn Hagerman of Cedarburg, WI, and Stephen A. & Eleanore Hagerman of Beaver Island, MI, and four grandchildren: Cody, Carley, Ryan & Megan Grudell also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 24th, 2005 at Church of the Good Shepherd in Rhinebeck, NY. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Galens of will officiate. Interment will be at the convienence of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rhinecliff.
There will be no calling hours.

Mr. Robert H. Doss of Port Jervis, NY a retired Police Sergeant with the Port Jervis Police Dept. and lifetime resident of Port Jervis, died Monday, July 11, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 65.
He was born October 31, 1939 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Harold J. and the late Florence Keller Doss.
He was a member, active Trustee and Worship Leader at the Drew United Methodist Church; member and past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge No. 645; member and treasurer of the Lumberland Lions Club; member of the Port Jervis Police Bevolement Association, Retired Police Association of the State of New York and Interstate Law Enforcement Assoc. He was a former Port Jervis Third Ward Councilman and presently served on the Orange County Water Authority. He had served as a director of both the Little League and the Port Jervis Pop Warner and was a coach of the Giants; and later was a Pop Warner referee and Little League Umpire. H was also an Army veteran and served in the Military Police.
Surviving are his wife, Joan M. Kolvenbach Doss at home; 2 sons, Scott D. Doss & his wife, Heidi of Sparrowbush and Tracy L. Doss & his companion, Dawn of Port Jervis; a daughter, Tammy L. Bisland & her husband, James of Glen Spey; 2 brothers, Michael D. Doss & his wife, Audrey of Port Jervis and John H. Doss & his wife, Fran of Spring Hill, FL; 6 grandchildren: Matthew J., Jessica M., Sara N. and Hannah K. Bisland and Tyler and Christopher Doss; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashley ‘Boo’ Bisland on August 10, 2004.
Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Wednesday, July 13, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. with Lions Services at 7 p.m. and Elk’s Service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis with Rev. Robert D. Cassidy officiating.
Burial will be at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY with military honors.

George Clarke, 38, passed away Friday, July 8, 2005, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital.
George was employed as a custodian at the Linden Ave. Junior-High School, Red Hook.
Born April 5, 1967 at the Port Chester United Hospital, he was the son of William B. and Mary L. (Piacitelli) Clarke, Sr., of Milan.
On July 11, 1987 at the Third Lutheran Evangelical Church, Rhinebeck, he married Mary Ellen Arnold.
In addition to his wife and parents, George is survived by five children Charles Harring, George Clarke, Jr., David Clarke, Michael Clarke, and Tina Harring, all of Tivoli; a son-in-law Matthew Campbell of Tivoli, a brother William B. Clarke, Jr. of Albany, a sister Christine Thompson of Red Hook, a sister Susan Merrihew of Rhinebeck, a sister Mary Brown of Arizona, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are Tuesday, July 12, 2005, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.
Funeral services are Wednesday, July 13, 2005, 11 AM at the Funeral Home, Fr. Gerald Gallagher will officiate. Interment will be in the Milan Union Cemetery.

Laura M. Keesler, 86, of Red Hook, NY, died Friday, July 8th, 2005 at the Livingston Hills Nursing Center in Livingston, NY.
For many years, until her retirement, she worked at therapy aide and a laundress at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Laura was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church in Upper Red Hook, NY.
Born on June 20, 1919 in Red Hook, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Donnerly) Rifenburg.
Laura married Garrett Keesler and he predeceased her on May 1, 1996
Survived by a daughter: Gloria Montross of Tivoli, NY, a son: David Keesler of Tampa, FL, three grandchildren: Sue Hapeman of Elizaville, NY, Jessica Baker and Francis Baker, IV both of Kingston, NY, and 5 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be private. Cremation will be at Wiltwyck Crematory, Kingston.
There will be no calling hours.

Beate Dumont
Rhinebeck, NY
Beate Dumont, 49, of Rhinebeck, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2005, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Born September 10, 1955 in Lindhorst, Germany, she was the daughter of Helmut and Silva Gewecke
Mrs. Dumont came to the United States in 1979 and resided in Boulder, Colorado until moving to the Rhinebeck area in 1983.
She received a Bard scholarship for exceptional academic performance in 1993 from Ulster County Community College and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Bard College. After a year’s training in ultra-sound diagnostics and receiving her certified license, she was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, compounded by other complications. After a nine year struggle with her disease and a recent round of pneumonia she passed away on June 30, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Lillian J. Dumont, fifteen years old and a high honor student at Rhinebeck High School, as well as her mother Silva Gewecke and a sister Claudia in Germany.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2005, 2 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.

John F. Wisnewski, a 34-year resident of the area, passed away on Tuesday June 28, 2005 at his residence in White Lake, NY. He was 87.
The son of Stanley and Mary Samluk Wisnewski, he was born on February 4, 1918 in Elmhurst, NY.
John was a retired painter for the NYC Board of Education in New York City, He was A World War 2 Army Air Force Veteran, He served from 1941 to 1945 and achieved the rank of Staff Sgt.
Survivors include a son, Johnnie Wisnewski of Whitefish, Montana; 2 daughters, Ann Shaw and her husband Richard of Forestburgb and Clare Lemke and her husband Tom of Livingston, Montana; 2 brothers, Louie Wisnewski and his wife Madeline of Bayville, NY and Philip Wisnewski and his wife Dorothy of Narragansett RI; 1 sister, Virginia “Jean” Maier and her husband Harry of Brewster, NY and 5 grandchildren, Kenneth and Janessa Shaw, Daniel and Mark Lemke and Philip Wisnewski.
Friends may call at Ramsay’s Funeral Home 3534 State Rt 55 Kauneonga Lake, NY on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 from noon to 2 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 PM with Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.
Interment of ashes will take place at Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral service.

Bernard Mason Kilbourn

Bernard Mason Kilbourn D.D.S., of Port Jervis, a retired dentist and 6-year resident of the area, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at his home. He was 81.
He was born February 13, 1924 in Sauquoit, N.Y., the son of the late William and the late Minnie Nicholas Kilbourn.
A charter member and former president of the Sauquoit, NY Rotary Club, he had also been a member of the Blairstown, NJ and Clarkstown, NY Rotary Clubs and was presently a member of the Port Jervis, NY Rotary Club; former president of the Utica Curling Club; member of the Grand National Curling Club of America; former treasurer and member of the Curling Foundation and was a member of the NYS Championship Curling Team; a Neighborhood Chairman of the United Way; an Eagle Scout and member of the Regional Council Executive Committee of the Boy Scouts of America; Minisink Historical Society Board; Bon Secours Community Hospital Foundation Board; member of the Port Jervis Arts Walk Board and Tri-State Chamber of Commerce.
Doctor Kilbourn had his dental practice in Chadwicks, NY from 1953-1977; and from 1977 to 1981 served as Chairman of the New York Republican State Committee. In 1981 he became the Regional Director of the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services for New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands.
Surviving are his wife: Dorothy Stevens Kilbourn at home; four sons: Mason Kilbourn of Staunton, Va., Wayne Kilbourn of Denver, Colo., Bruce Kilbourn of Nashville, Tenn., Charles Strong of Utica, N.Y.; five daughters: Denise Eagan of Schenectady, N.Y., Laura Misiano of Jamison, Pa., Julie Kelly of Middletown, Lynn Ritchel of Evansville, Ind., Charlene Hazzard of Rochester, N.Y.; brother: Calvin Kilbourn of Sauquoit, N.Y.; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Monroe officiating.
Burial will be at Litchfield Five Corners Cemetery, Litchfield, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Of Orange And Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Mrs. Elsie M. Oppelt of Port Jervis, a lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday July 2, 2005. She was 66.
She was born August 11, 1938 in Cuddebackville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Fred C. and the late Carrie Conklin. She was the widow of Arthur G. Oppelt, Sr. He died February 12, 2000.
She was a member of Drew United Methodist Church; Howard Wheat Engine Co. No. 4 Ladies Auxiliary; and A.A.R.P. She had been employed at Novelty Slipper Co.; Kolmar Labs; and Andmore Sportswear.
A loving and caring person, Elsie was known for thinking of everyone else before herself. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her companion, Harry Oppelt of Port Jervis; a son, Arthur G. Oppelt, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Glen Spey; two daughters, Sheila Pflanz and husband, Richard, of Eldred, and Susan Lynn Perry and husband, William, of Port Jervis; three brothers: Jesse Conklin and wife, Ida, of Port Jervis; William Conklin and wife, Pat, of Port Jervis; and Fred Conklin and wife, Joan, of Huguenot; three sisters: Henrietta Crawn and husband, Allen, of Port Jervis; Cordelia DeStefano and husband, Don, of Port Jervis; and Lois Conklin of Sparrowbush; four granddaughters: Stacy and Tiffany Oppelt, and Clarissa and Brittany Pflanz; two brothers-in-law, Harold Oppelt and wife, Cheryl, of Sprakers, N.Y., and Frank Oppelt and wife, Mae, of Port Jervis; a sister-in law, Jean Swingle of Port Jervis; two very special friends, Betty Fink of Port Jervis and Martha Frisbie of Matamoras, Pa.; and also several nieces, nephews, and her faithful cat, Angel.
She was predeceased by a sister, Margie Morgan.

Laure L Delage, 42, of Tivoli, NY, died Saturday, July 2nd, 2005 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Laure was a Family Nurse Practitioner, employed by Hudson River Community Health in Amenia, NY. She also worked as a nurse practioner with the Summitt Medical Health Care in Rhinebeck, the Wellspring Health Center in Rhinebeck and Dr. Barry Goldman in New Paltz, NY.
Previously she had worked as a nurse in cardiac rehabilitaion and critical care at Northern Dutchess Hosptial in Rhinbeck, as a critical care nurse at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, and OB/GYN nurse at Hudson Valley Associates in Rhinebeck.
For many years she served as the Physical Fitness Consultant for Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Laure was a active outdoorswomen, she was a licensed pilot and member of the Woodstock Harley Davidson Owners group.
She served in the United States Air Force and worked in the Medical & Telemetry Units at Malcolm Grow Medical Center in Washington, DC.
Laure received her Master´s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and her bachelors degree in Nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She graduated Cum Laude with Honors in 1986. She also was the Valedictorian of Red Hook High School class of 1981.
Born on December 2, 1962, in Rhinebeck, NY, she was the daughter of the Roger P. and Nancy (Huestis) Delage.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy Delage of Red Hook, her lifelong companion; Larry Cambalik of Rhinebeck, four brothers; Roger P. Delage and his companion Stephanie of Red Hook, NY, Stephen Delage & his wife Jennifer of Red Hook, NY, Kenneth Delage and his wife Melanie of Red Hook, NY, Eric Delage and his mpanion Michelle of Red Hook, NY, three nephews, one niece, several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Roger P. Delage, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 7th, 2005 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. The Reverend Fred C. Cartier will officiate. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Wednesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM and Thursday from 9:30 - 11 am.

Katherine W. Scribner, 78, of Clinton Corners, NY, died Monday, June 20, 2005 at home with her family at her side.
She, along with her husband, were members of the senior bowling league in Poughkeepsie. They also enjoyed to travel together.
Katherine was a communicant of Church of the Good Shepherd in Rhinebeck and
volunteered at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.
For many years she was a secretary with the Ulster County Health Department in Kingston, NY. She also worked with New York Telephone.
Born on October 1, 1926, in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of William and Anna (Shader) Whitney. Katherine married Allen Scribner and he survives at home in Clinton Corners.
Along with her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Kathleen Bihn of Poughkeepsie, Darlene Troccia of New Hampshire, Charlene Fraske of Saugerties, NY, one son: Allen Scribner III of North Carolina, six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Two sister’s, Ann Lehman and Norma Inge, predecease her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on, Friday June 24th, 2005 at Church of the Good Shepherd in Rhinebeck, NY. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Galens of will officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.

Leslie Close

Leslie Close, 83, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2005 at the Thompson House, Rhinebeck.
Mr. Close, a long time Rhinebeck resident, was predeceased by his wife Jean Peck close on november 21, 2002.
Born may 10, 1922 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Charles Ffrancis Close (aka C. Fred Close) and Nellie Deyo Close.
Mr. Close was a member of the Church of Messiah and the Rhinebeck Masonic Lodge #432 F&AM; and was a life member of the Nnational Aamerican Legion and the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans. He served in the Army of the United States from October 16, 1942 to January 1, 1946 during WW II as a staff sergeant with the 113th Ordnance Ccompany MM within the 14th Ccorp. He served in the South and West Pacific and was the recipeint of the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippines Liberation Tibbon and the WW II Victory Medal.. Mr. Close majored in business administration at the University of Maryland Class 1952 under the GI Bill.
Mr. Close is survived by his son Jay and daughter in-law Debbie Close of Adirondack NY, his daughter Jan and son-in-law John McGuire of Rhinebeck, his sister Shirley Flatley, four grandchildren, Seth, and her husband Robert Wheeler, Jr., Sean McGuire and his wife Phoenix, Morgan Close, and Caley and her husband Bryan Fabregas; three great grandchildren, Kyle L. McGuire, twin girls Sheridan Deyo & Mckinley Virginia Wheeler, one great grandchild due in November, and several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, entombment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundaion inc. 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-1034.

Rudolph M. Morris, 75, of Milan, NY, died Friday, June 17th, 2005 at his home.
For many years, he was an electrician & electrical inspector, employed by Union Local #3 - NY, NY.
Rudolph was a member of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Born on January 1, 1930, in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of Peter and Mary (Cravarch) Morris.
Rudolph married Mary Bianco in 1954 in NYC. She survives at home in Milan.
Along with his wife, he is survived by one son: Peter Morris of Stony Point, NY, a brother: Peter M. Morris of Minneapolis, MN, and 3 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 23rd, 2005 at St. Christopher's School Chapel, Benner, Rd., Red Hook, NY. Burial will be at St. Sylvia's Cemetery, Tivoli.
