Raymond M. Lyons, Sr.
Raymond Lyons,Sr., 86, of Bloomfield Hills and Naples, Fla., died Oct. 2, 2002, in West Bloomfield. He was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Detroit.
Mr. Lyons served as an FBI special agent during World War II and co-founded The Society of XFBI Agents in Michigan, becoming the second president of the Society. For 10 years he was on the advisory board of Providence Hospital, serving as chairman for two years. He retired as vice-president of Employee and Public Relations for Fruehauf Corporation.
He is survived by children, Ray (Mary) of Carlsbad, Calif., Mike (Cheryl) of Apollo Beach, Fla., Paul (Julie) of Birmingham, Kelly of Springfield, Ohio, Holly (Ed) Connell of Charlottesville, Virginia and Pat (Dan) White of Piedmont, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Keith E. Matheson
Keith Matheson, 41, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Birmingham, died Oct. 2, 2002 at home. He was born Oct. 14, 1960 in Detroit.
Mr. Matheson graduated from Birmingham Seaholm High School; undergraduate degree from Wayne State University and received a Doctor of Jurist Prudence degree from Detroit College of Law. He practiced law in Detroit and in Grand Rapids. He enjoyed spending summers in Pentwater, Mich.
He is survived by wife, Sarah; father, Kenneth of Grand Rapids; mother, Joan of Birmingham; brother Craig (Jane) of Fremont; and nieces, Kate, Tess and Abby.

Lucy Stone Vonderhaar
Lucy Vonderhaar of Bloomfield Village died Oct. 2, 2002 at home. She was born in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Mrs. Vonderhaar attended University of Michigan, where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma, and was honored with the Mortar Board Society. She graduated from the University of Michigan Business School. She was active in many community organizations, including Bloomfield Village Association, the Birmingham Public Schools, Camp Fire Girls, and the Girl Scouts of America. She was also very involved in the Oakland Hills Country Club, where she was the longtime parliamentarian of the Niners Golf Association and chaired many Championship committees.
She is survived by children, Karin (Jeff) Brittain, Robert, James and Douglas (Missy); grandchildren, Ryan, Scott, Stacey and Leslie; and sister, Marilyn S. Walters.

Joan Steinmayer, 69, of Bloomfield Hills, died Sept. 18, 2002, at St. Joseph's Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac. She was born April 25, 1933, in Detroit.
Mrs. Steinmayer graduated from Immaculata High School in Detroit. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her grandchildren; an avid bowler; collected antiques and Van Briggle pottery; loved Northern Michigan; traveling and horses.
She is survived by husband of 48 years, Ronald F.; children, Beth Loeffler, Patti, Greg, Paul, and Christopher; grandchildren, Ronald F., II, Renee and Erika Frances Bammel.

Victor L. Tarabusi "Vic"
Victor Tarabusi, 81, of Beverly Hills, died September 22, 2002, at home. He was born May 10, 1921, in Detroit.
Mr. Tarabusi retired in 1986 as a Tool & Die Maker for Apex Corporation. He formerly co-owned Associated Tool and worked for Wolverine Tool. He had been previously active with Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Boy Scouts and coach for Little League Baseball. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, photography and handywork.
He is survived by wife of 55 years, Dorothy G.; children, Gail A. (Wilson) Barns, Douglas P. and David J. (Melanie); grandchildren, Douglas, Jeffrey, Kenneth, Molly and Maggie; and siblings, Elsie Beaune, Arthur (Joan), and Mary Jane Davy.

Darlene Corbin, 59, of Royal Oak, formerly of Pontiac, died Oct. 5, 2002, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born February 18, 1943 in Pontiac.
Mrs. Corbin was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, ceramics and embroidery.

Dorothy Campbell Schlaff
Dorothy Schlaff, 88, of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 4, 2002 at Presbyterian Village in Redford. She was born July 13, 1914 in Calumet, Mich.
Mrs. Schlaff was employed as a Cafeteria Manager for Southfield Schools. She was a member of Southfield Presbyterian Church and former member of Eastern Star in Commerce Township.
She is survived by children, Michael of Bloomfield Hills, Raymond (Claire) of Muskegon, Edward (Kathleen) of Wixom, Lucille (David) Frook of East Lansing, and Marlene Burger of Southfield; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Charles R. Kopta
Charles (Chuck) Kopta, of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 4, 2002.
Mr. Kopta served as a Finance Officer in the Air Force during World War II. He was employed with National Twist Drill. He also was a dance teacher for over 50 years in Berkley, Royal Oak, Clawson and Rochester. He taught on all the major cruise ships, sometimes for months at a time. In the last decade he mainly conducted classes in the Royal Oak Senior Center for seniors. He loved ballroom dancing,the Big Band Sound, square dancing, golf and other sports. Mr. Kopta was a lifetime member of the Shriners, Masons and Indianwood Country Club.
He is survived by wife, Dorothy; three stepchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Allan J. Miller
Allan Miller, 51, of Franklin, died Oct. 3, 2002, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born March 4, 1951, in Detroit.
Mr. Miller was co-owner and vice president of Centerline Piping, which he formed with a partner fifteen years ago. He was previously employed by Pipefitters Local 636. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
He is survived by wife, Maria; children, John Medilo of Franklin, Jacklyn of Detroit, Nicole of California, and Richard of California.

Philip J. LaPine
Philip LaPine, 73, of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 5, 2002, at Wm. Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born June 8, 1929, in New York City, New York.
Mr. LaPine attended Henry Ford Trade School and worked for Ford Tractor before going to Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, where he retired after 40 years as a designer.
He is survived by wife, Patty; sons, Michael of Bloomfield Hills and Gregory of Philadelphia, Pa.; brother, James of Wichita, Kan.; nine nieces and nephews.

Ann Woodworth
Ann Woodworth of Dearborn, formerly of Huntington Woods, died Sept. 11, 2002.
Mrs. Woodworth was raised in Wisconsin where she atended Stout College and earned a teaching degree. She taught in a small community outside Milwaukee until she moved to Michigan. She returned to teaching at Pleasant Ridge Nursery School and was the director for 10 years. She was a longtime volunteer at Wm. Beaumont Hospital where she tutored children at the Neuro Education Center. Mrs. Woodworth was involved in various activities and groups with Oakwood Common in Dearborn.
She is survived by children, Dr. Robert (Karen), Kay (William) Goba, Dr. John (Mary) and Susan (Steve) Billmeier; and eight grandchildren.

David F. Wood
David Wood, 75, of Birmingham, died Oct. 15, 2002. He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Olivet, Michigan.
Mr. Wood graduated from Miami University and The University of Michigan. He was a law partner for 47 years with Clark Hill, P.L.C., Detroit, where he practiced Labor Law. He served as president of Industrial Relations Research Association and was also a member of Board of Trustees of Henry Ford Hospital.
He is survived by long-time companion, Ruth Kahn; children, Kathy (Dave) Piraino of Cleveland, Ohio, Julie (Rob) McKay of Milford and David (Sharon) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Christopher, Mark, Scott, Alex and Joanna.

Henry E. Fenske
Edward Fenske, 93, 0f Royal Oak, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 15, 2002, at home. He was born April 30, 1909 in Brokaw, Wis.
Mr. Fenske was a retired engineer from G.M.C. Truck, where he worked for 33 years.
He is survived by sister, Irene Reynolds of Pacifica, California and many nieces and nephews.

Velma Sue Ruhly
Velma Ruhly, 84, of Beverly Hills, died Oct. 14, 2002, at Evergreen Health and Living Center in Southfield. She was born Jan. 19, 1918, in Fulton, Kentucky.
Mrs. Ruhly attended Detroit Public Schools, graduated from Cooley High School and Wayne State University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Chi sorority. She was a retired elementary school principal. She served on the Birmingham school board for eight years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, the Village Women's Club, Senior Women's Club at the Community House and BASCC. She was a Life Master at duplicate bridge; enjoyed camping trips with her family all over the country and spending time with her grandchildren at her cottage on Lake Huron in Canada.
Mrs. Ruhly is survived by husband, King; children, Pat Halasz of Portage, Wisconsin, Jim (Carol) of Madison, Wisconsin, John (Karin) of Carrollton, Texas and Bob of Clawson; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Roy Thomas Lawrie
Roy Lawrie, 76, of Fenton, died Aug. 27, 2002. He was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on Nov. 21, 1925.
Mr. Lawrie spent 21 years in various financial management positions with Ford of Canada and Ford of Australia before joining American Motors Corporation in July 1968 as Operations Controller, Finance. In 1972, he was elected to the position of Corporate Controller and an officer of the company. He was elected vice-president and controller in 1975 and held that position until 1982.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Howardine Carr Anderson
Howardine "Howie" Anderson, 72, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 9, 2002, in Portland. She was born July 21, 1930, in Rudyard, Mich.
Mrs. Anderson was formerly employed with Ford Motor Company. She was an avid sportswoman, enjoying tennis, golf and skiing. She was a former member of Oakland Hills Country Club, The Village Woman's Club and Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by husband, Frank; children, Howardine Carr Anderson, Jr. of Portland, Ore., Cecille (Robert) Brown of Beverly Hills, Judith (John Wright) Anderson of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Courtney, Adam, Ian, Mary, Stephanie and Christopher; and three siblings.

Robert L. McKenny
Robert McKenny, 87, of Birmingham, died Oct. 9, 2002, at St. Joseph's Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac. He was born April 16, 1915, in Detroit.
Mr. McKenny graduated from Eastern Michigan College. He was a Lt. Col. for the U.S. Army during World War II, serving during the Battle of the Bulge in Artillery. He was retired from General Motors as a director of Data Systems-Comptroller. He was deeply involved with his family; and a lifetime member of Birmingham's Senior Men's Club.
Mr. McKenny is survived by wife, Genevieve; children, Karen Wichman of Gaylord, Elaine Ross of Bloomfield Hills and Laurence of Clawson; grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Jennifer, Kimberly, Suzanne; great-grandchildren, Brett, Ashley, Claire, Sara, Katie, Megan, Mellisa, Bennett, Elliott, Anabel, Clifford, Nicholas and Christopher.

Rose Marie Yeager, 79, of Ft. Meyers, Fla., died Aug. 22, 2002. She was born April 14, 1923 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Veronica Agnes Galvin
Veronica Galvin, 98, of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 22, 2002, at her daughter's home in Troy. She was born July 8, 1904, in Merlin, Ontario, Canada.
Mrs. Galvin attended the first Eucharistic Congress in Chicago. She graduated from Merlin High School in Canada and Chatham Business College in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. She was formerly employed with R.L. Polk Directory Co. and Braun Lumber Company as a secretary. She was a member of St. Agnes Church Altar Society, Detroit; Visitation Church Altar Society, Detroit; St. Bede Church Altar Society, Southfield; St. Hugo of the Hills Church Altar Society, Bloomfield Hills; Catholic Central High School Mother's Club, Detroit; Marygrove College Mother's Club, Detroit; Catholic Study Club; League of Catholic Women; resident board at Lourdes Nursing Home in Waterford; a volunteer at Providence Hospital in Southfield. Mrs. Galvin enjoyed playing golf and kept the family summer cottage going for over forty years in Leamington, Ontario, Canada.
She is survived by children, Mary Frances (Gerald) Dietz, Maureen Clement, Rosemary Etue, Sharon (Robert) Stokes, Theresa (Richard) Sands, Paul (Mary Catherine), Patrick (Cecelia), James (Shella) and William (Lynn); 44 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren.

Linda Ann Greig
Linda Greig, 61, of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 21, 2002, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. She was born July 14, 1941, in Detroit.
Mrs. Greig was a graduate of Redford High School and attended Michigan State University for three years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed boating, spending summers on Mullett Lake, collecting teddy bears, reading and crossword puzzles.

Frederick W. Pfister, III
Frederick Pfister, III, 57, of Harpswell, Maine and Sterling Heights, died Oct. 22, 2002, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine. He was born Feb. 27, 1945 in the Bronx, N. Y.
Mr. Pfister graduated from The College of New Jersey in Trenton, N. J., Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and Miami University of Ohio in Oxford, Ohio. He was a history teacher and House Master at Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills until retiring in 2001. He loved Maine and spent many summers in Maine before retiring there. He enjoyed reading, photography, woodworking and shopping at L.L. Bean, Freeport.
He is survived by wife, Beverly; children, Frederick W., IV of San Diego, Calif., and Erin C. of Sterling Heights; and sister, Christine P. (Peter) Van Lenten of Glen Rock, N.J.

Charles Francis Lawler
Charles Lawler, 86, of Beverly Hills, died Oct. 23, 2002, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born June 30, 1916, in Herbert, Wis.
Mr. Lawler graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit High School and the University of Detroit, with graduate studies in law. He remained actively involved in the school's basketball program and was honored as a U of D Mercy Patron. He was a World War II Army veteran, where he attained the rank of Captain, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations and following the war he served in Japan as a Civil Affairs Administrator. He was employed as a sales representative with The National Cash Register Co. in Detroit for 27 years.
Mr. Lawler was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Farms; the property owners association and country club in S.C.; St. Paul the Apostle parish in South Carolina; treasurer of the Oconee Chapter of the South Carolina Alliance for the Mentally Ill. His hobbies included, golf, tennis, investing and supporting a wide range of charitable causes.
He is survived by wife, Helene Joan; daughter, Marie-Helene (Michael) Grabman; grandchildren, Genevieve, Andrea, Michael and Charlotte.

Cecil C. Chauvin
Cecil Chauvin, 88, of Rochester, N.Y., formerly of Beverly Hills, Mich., died October 23, 2002, in Rochester, N.Y. He was born January 12, 1914 in Windsor, Ontario.
Mr. Chauvin was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He attended Assumption College in Windsor and the University of Detroit. He retired in 1980 as a Purchasing Commodity Planner with Chrysler Corp. He was a former member of the Detroit Golf Club and the St. Regis Church Ushers Club.
He is survived by children, Kathy H. Chauvin, Mary (Robert) Kavanaugh, Colleen C. Chauvin, John P. (Lynn), Christopher C. (Alice Pentland); and sister, Laurette Buhlman.

Valentino Trabucchi, 76, of Bloomfield Hills, died Oct. 25, 2002, at William Beaumont Hospital. He was born July 28, 1926, in Berkley, Mich.

Thomas Hammond "Tim" Adams, Jr.
Tim Adams, Jr., 71, of Lowell, Mich., formerly of Birmingham, died Sept. 12, 2002, at home. He was born May 1, 1931, in Detroit.
Mr. Adams graduated from Baldwin High School, Denison University, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity, and The University of Michigan Law School. He achieved his commission from U.S. Navy Officers Candidate School in Newport, R.I. and served as a Naval officer aboard the USS Porterfield, a destroyer stationed in San Diego, Calif.
He opened a private practice in St. Joseph after graduating from U of M. In 1996, he moved to Lowell. He was an avid boater, a member of The Power Squadron, and a ham radio operator. He loved to cruise through the Les Cheneaux Islands and enjoyed his summer home in Cedarville, Mich.
Mr. Adams is survived by wife, Ardie; children, Peter of Carmel, Ind. and Mary (Jon) King of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; and sister, Criss (Tom) Goad of Birmingham.
