MARIE-FRANCE CURTIN
Marie-France Curtin, 59, of Bloomfield Hills, died July 8, 2002 at Wm. Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born Aug. 23, 1942, in Angers, France.
Mrs. Curtin taught at Detroit Country Day School and at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School. She was a former assistant pastor at Congregational Church of Birmingham; a volunteer at Cranbrook Hospice and the Lighthouse in Pontiac; and a member of American Association of Teachers of French.
She is survived by husband, Raymond; children, Laura (Joseph) Nicholson of Marietta, Ga., and David of Pontiac; grandchildren, Alexa and Kyra Nicholson; mother, Georgette Brochard of Angers, France; and sibling, Jean Brochard of Paris, France.

CLARE SHEPARD
Clare Shepard, 75, of White Lake, formerly of West Bloomfield, died July 8, 2002.
He was a member of Pine Lake Country Club and retired from Timkem Bearing.
Mr. Shepard is survived by children, Beth Shepard of San Antonio, Texas, and Bobi (Chip) Tallinger of Birmingham; stepsons, Duke (Terri) McIntosh of Waterford and Mike (Teresa) McIntosh of Oxford; grandchildren, Chelsea and Marissa.

RUTH C. DAVEY
Ruth Davey, 90, of Birmingham, died July 9, 2002, at Georgian Bloomfield. She was born December 3, 1911, in Detroit.
Mrs. Davey was a graduate of the Detroit Business College. She was employed as a bookkeeper with the Detroit Public School System, working mostly with The George Trade School and the Trombley Trade School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Birmingham and an avid sportswoman.
Mrs. Davey is survived by stepchildren, Marilyn Davey DeGour of Arizona and Edward Davey of Arizona; sisters, Jean Krueger of St. Clair Shores and Elinor Phillips of Dearborn; also several nieces and nephews.

BRUCE ANDREW BROWN
Bruce Brown, 55, of London, England, formerly of Birmingham, died July 9, 2002, in London. He was born in Detroit on Jan. 12, 1947.
Mr. Brown graduated from Groves High School, Cleveland Institute of Arts, and attended Bath Academy of Art in England. He was a renowned photographer who had received many awards and held many exhibits. His interests included travel, photography and art.
He is survived by parents, Marjorie and Kenneth "Doug" of Portage, Mich.; sisters, Christina (Dane) Alexander of Mattawan, Mich., and Barbara (Robert) Bonte of Marshall, Mich.; daughter, Ruby Holin-Brown and her mother, Annabel of England; and nephews, Kevin, Tyler, Robert and Daniel.
His remains were cremated and will be interred at Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Mich.
ALBERT G. ALBERT
Albert Albert, 90, of Royal Oak, died July 7, 2002, at Waltonwood Assisted Living in Royal Oak. He was born February 14, 1912, in Ironwood, Mich.
Mr. Albert graduated from Luther Wright High School in Ironwood and attended Marquette University. He was an accountant for GM and sold shoes at Sibley and Sherman Shoes.
He was a collector of many things. He had interests in computers and Lebanese cooking. He also volunteered at Ascension of Christ Lutheran Church in Beverly Hills, helping in the office with the office equipment and computers.
Mr. Albert is survived by daughter, Georgiana (Charles) Jackson; grandchildren, Kevin (Diane), Peter (Lisa), and Elizabeth (Jonah) Burakowski; ten great-grandchildren; and siblings, LaMese Davies, Lucille Hurrell, Rosemarie Butman, Sam, Jim and Fred.

Carolyn J. Pacheco
Carolyn Pacheco, 94, of Bloomfield Township, died July 21, 2002, at Heartland Healthcare, Georgian-Bloomfield, Bloomfield Township. She was born July 7, 1908, in Lewiston, Idaho.
Mrs. Pacheco graduated from Lewiston State Normal College and Northern Idaho College of Education. She taught fifth and sixth grades at Quarton Elementary School in Birmingham and for 22 years in Idaho.
She enjoyed travel, reading, playing bridge, all kinds of needlework and working jigsaw puzzles. She loved animals, especially cats.

Craig Besemer, 42, of Atlanta, formerly of Birmingham and New York, died May 30, 2002, in Georgia. He was born June 3, 1959.
Mr. Besemer was a graduate of Wylie E. Groves High School and University of Austria.

Harriet Hartwig Sherwood
Harriet Sherwood, 97, of Birmingham/Bloomfield, died July 23, 2002, at Arden Court Assisted Living in Bingham Farms. She was born Jan. 17, 1905, in Detroit.
Mrs. Sherwood was a former member of the Village Club, Orchard Lake Country Club and Oakland Hills Country Club. She was a member and Deacon at Kirk in the Hills. She was a member of the Cranbrook Branch of the National Farm and Garden Club and the Little Garden Club, and a volunteer at William Beaumont Hospital.
Mrs. Sherwood is survived by daughter, Ann (Richard) Bryant; daughter-in-law, Anne Sherwood; grandchildren, David (Samantha) Sherwood, Daniel (Katherine) Sherwood, Andrew Sherwood, Elizabeth (Richard) Duffy, Mark Bryant and Sara Bryant; great-grandson, Andrew Duffy; and sisters, Ester Holzbaugh and Marian Johnston.

Georgina B. Isherwood
Georgina Isherwood, 88, of Dearborn, formerly of Birmingham, died July 14, 2002, in Dearborn. She was born August 9, 1913, in Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada.
Mrs. Isherwood was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church in Birmingham, The Birmingham Estates Garden Club and the Village Club. She was a talented weaver, Girl Scout Leader and Choir Camp Counselor.
She is survived by husband, William; children, Wendy Isherwood (Joseph) Page of Bloomfield Hills and Dianne (Gerald) Tilson of Northville; grandchildren, Carrie, Jay and Eric Page, and Leslie Tilson; great-grandchildren, Jack and Allyson Page.

Marvin J. Polewach
Marvin Polewach, 76, of Ann Arbor, formerly of Birmingham/Beverly Hills, died July 15, 2002, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born Sept. 5, 1925, in Ruth, Mich.
Mr. Polewach was a graduate of University of Detroit. He was a principal partner of a Birmingham C.P.A. firm bearing his name for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and his cottage in Port Sanilac.
He is survived by children, Dale, Gary, Cheryl (Steven) King and Sheila (Robert) McCarthy; five grandchildren; and sisters, Gloria Thornton, Marilyn Leppeck and Jan Moore.

Barbara Lee Shackelford Reason
Barbara Reason, 74, of Bloomfield Hills and Hillsboro Beach, Fla., died July 17, 2002, at Mercy Bellbrook in Rochester Hills. She was born July 1, 1928 in Detroit.
Mrs. Reason attended Cooley High School and Michigan State University. She was the president of Project Hope and a member of Christ Child Society, American Lung Association, Detroit Junior Symphony and Jr. Goodwill Association. She was an honorary member of the Brother Rice Dads Club and the Birmingham Athletic Club. She was co-founder of the Michigan Chapter of Michigan Hospice Association.
Mrs. Reason is survived by husband, Robert; children, Christine (Bob) Lund, Mary Pamela Reason, Cynthia Ann (Paul) Byrd, Robert E., Jr. (Kathryn), Michael John; grandchildren, Robert D. BRADFORD H. MORRELL
Bradford Morrell, Birmingham, died June 13, 2002, at home.
He graduated from Western Michigan University. He worked for 25 years for the government in Washington, D.C. Mr. Morrell was an active Eagle Scout; a member of the First Baptist Church in Birmingham; and a world traveler.
Mr. Morrell is survived by mother, Evelyn; sister, Marjorie Paulson; niece, Paige and nephew, Alan.

META EVELYN CLEMENT
Meta Clement, 79, of Rochester Hills, formerly Birmingham and Troy, died June 26, 2002, at Georgian Bloomfield Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Parsboro, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Mrs. Clement was a retired dietitian for the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company.

MARILYN JENSEN SPENCER
Marilyn Spencer, 76, of Bloomfield Township, died June 28, 2002, at home. She was born July 10, 1925 in Detroit.
Mrs. Spencer was a graduate of Wayne State University, Cranbrook and Birmingham-Bloomfield Art Center. She was employed as a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools; an artist and writer. She painted over 350 paintings that are in public and private collections. As a writer, she was a published author of children's stories, essays and light verse and an unpublished author of three mysteries. She was also a docent at Cranbrook Institute of Science. Mrs. Spencer was a member of the Birmingham Society of Women Painters; Detroit Women Writers; Palette and Brush Club; American Birding Association; Oakland Audubon Society; Arizona Artists Guild; Birmingham-Bloomfield Art Center; DIA Founder's Society; American Contract Bridge League; The Nature Conservatory; and Grand Traverse Nature Conservatory. She was an avid birder (birded in 25 states and provinces of Canada), bridge player, crossword puzzle player and traveler.
Mrs. Spencer is survived by husband, Andrew R., children, Dr. Gary C. (Beth) of Muskegon, Linda C. of Ann Arbor and Dr. James C. (Vickie) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and grandchildren, Amy (Stephen) McKenna, Sara, Laura-Anne, Hannah and Emma.

DENISE LYNN BOWMAN
Denise Bowman, 42, of Bloomfield Hills, formerly Auburn Hills, died June 25, 2002, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. She was born April 2, 1960, in Detroit.
Mrs. Bowman was a graduate of Troy High School and Western Michigan University. She had worked in Chicago for 11 years where she sold consulting services for Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) For the past nine years she was a homemaker. Mrs. Bowman supported many local charities and assisted friends and family who were ill or in need.
She is survived by husband, Mark W.; children, Thomas V., Mackinaw W., and Briggs A.; parents, Joan Ruen and Thomas Watrous; siblings, Thomas Watrous, Jr. and Debra Marie Watrous.

CHARLES MCGREGOR
Charles McGregor, 79, of Birmingham, died June 21, 2002 at Fisherman's Hospital in Marathon, Fla.
Mr. McGregor was a World War II veteran of the Third Infantry Division, who received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the French Croix de Guerre. He was an electrical engineer employed by General Motors in Pontiac. He was active in golfing, fishing and walking.
Mr. McGregor is survived by wife, Margaret Sell McGregor; children, Ronald Cameron (Carol) "Wally," and Jaquelynn (James) Frey; and grandson, Connor James.
The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home in Key West, Fla., has arranged to transfer Mr. McGregor's remains to the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., where a service has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 3 p.m. in the Ft. Meyers Old Post Chapel.
DORIS K. WEHE
Doris Wehe, 85, of Birmingham, died July 1, 2002, at home. She was born May 11, 1917 in San Francisco, Calif.
Mrs. Wehe attended the University of California. She was a member of the Birmingham Town Club, St. James Episcopal Church of Birmingham and was one of the founders of the Episcopal Home (St. Anne's Mead).
She is survived by sons, Donald L. (Merri) of Atlanta, Ga. and David K. (Donna) of Ann Arbor; granddaughters, Laura, Carolyn, Jennifer and Erin; and brother, Roland P. Kearns.

WILLIAM B. NANCE
William Nance, 79, of Troy and Ft. Meyers, Fla., died June 29, 2002, in Royal Oak. He was born September 5, 1922 in Louisiana.
Mr. Nance graduated from Beaumont High School in Mississippi; attended Ellisville Junior College; and graduated from Bowling Green Business University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was a U. S. Army veteran assigned to the 1816th Ordinance Company with the Army Air Corps. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II with the rank of Technical Sergeant.
He was retired from Vlasic Foods where he was senior vice president of administration. He had stayed on at Vlasic as a consultant to oversee the construction of a new headquartes building in Farmington Hills. Mr. Nance was a former chairman of the board of the Birmingham-Bloomfield Bank, formerly on the board of trustees for the University of Detroit and Providence Hospital, where he also served as chairman of the board of trustees. He participated in Indian Guides with his sons. He was a member of the Caberfae Ski Club in Cadillac, Mich.; the Beverly Hills Athletic Club; Forest Country Club in Ft. Meyers, Fla.; a member of the board of directors for Real Estate One and Variety Vending company. Mr. Nance enjoyed world travels with his grandchildren, was a avid golfer, writer and continued his education in the science and humanities, both formally and informally.
He is survived by wife, Jean Halley Martin; children, William M., Judith Ann, Robert G. and Jane Elizabeth; grandchildren, Lindsey, Nick, Robert, Clayton, Rob, Bill, Christopher, Michelle, and John; and great-granddaughter, Olivia.

DONALD HUGH MCIVER
Donald McIver, 96, of Farmington, died June 30, 2002, at home. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1906. He emigrated to the United States in 1907.
Mr. McIver graduated from the Engineering School of Ohio Northern University, where he belonged to, and was president of the chapter of, Phi Mu Delta Fraternity. During World War II, he was a loaned executive to the U.S. Government War Production Board in Washington, D.C.
Mr. McIver was a long time captain of the machine tool industry. He was the president of the National Machine Tool Builders Association in 1968, his picture appeared on the cover of Automotive Industry News. He was an avid boater and a 50-year member of the Detroit Yacht Club. He cruised in the waters of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay in his yacht, The "Mis-Mac."
Mr. McIver is survived by children, Jean Libcke, and Donald H.; grandchildren, J. Robert Libcke, Martha Sorge, Jane Dittus, Margaret McIver and Donald Hugh McIver III; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, James, Kaitlin, Kristen, J. William and Thomas.
A memorial is planned for Friday, July 12 at 3 p.m. at Kirk in the Hills in Bloomfield Township.
CHARLES L. BURNS
Charles L. "Chuck" Burns, 85, of Birmingham, formerly Detroit, died July 4, 2002, He was born May 25, 1917, in Detroit.
Mr. Burns graduated from Eastern High School in Detroit. He was a local builder and developer and table tennis champion. He was well-known in Detroit after opening a table tennis hall in the 1930s across from Wayne City College. (Wayne State) Mr. Burns turned his table tennis into a vaudeville-style act and toured the world with the USO during the latter part of World War II. When he returned home he entered the real estate business, selling low-cost homes to returning GI's. At this time, he also was a U.S. runner-up in table tennis and Canadian champion. He won the Michigan title 18 times over 30 years. He had won a total of 27 national titles and 17 international titles and served as president of the United States Table Tennis Association. He was inducted into the Michigan Amateur Sports Hall of Fame, the U.S. Table Tennis Hall of Fame and the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
Mr. Burns is survived by children, Ron, Douglas, Paul and Elizabeth Powers; and grandsons, Levi, Drew, Reed, Chase and Griffin.

John Samuel Delos
John Delos, 89, of Bloomfield Township, died July 17, 2002, at Wm. Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
Mr. Delos graduated from the University of Michigan. He worked as a chemist for GM at the General Motors Headquarters in Detroit until his retirement in 1978. He was active with the Baldwin Public Library and the Birmingham Men's Club. He was chairman of the Library Fund-Raising Committee. He enjoyed inventing things and loved to play bridge.
Mr. Delos is survived by children, Joanna Delos Fryer of London, England, John B. of Williamsburg, Va., and Charles G. of Reston, Va.; nine grandchildren; and brother, Rev. Bernard Delos, of Reston, Va.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Baldwin Public Library, 300 West Merrill, in downtown Birmingham. Memorial tributes may be made to the Baldwin Public Library.
Mary H. Collins Post
Mary Post, 87, of Grand Rapids, Ohio, formerly of Birmingham and Troy, died July 19, 2002 in Grand Rapids, Ohio. She was born Aug. 23, 1914 in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Mrs. Post graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Michigan. She was a music teacher in the public schools. She was also a private piano teacher. She was a member of Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills; a singer in the church choir; a Pi Beta Phi Sorority at Ohio Wesleyan University Monnett Club. She was also a cat fancier.
Mrs. Post is survived by children, Priscilla (Lajos) Lazar-Post of Nuenan, Netherlands and Frederick R. (Ginger) of Grand Rapids, Ohio; and grandson, Philip Lazar, of Nuenan, Netherlands.

Josephine Woods Woodman
Josephine Woodman, 81, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Birmingham, died July 19, 2002, in Florida. She was born in West Virginia.
She graduated from Highland Park Junior College and Wayne State University. Mrs. Woodman taught science in the Detroit Public Schools.
She is survived by children, Linda of Ann Arbor and Kent (Ann) of Beverly Hills; grandchildren, Emily Woodman McLaren of Birmingham, Geoffrey Woodman of Oak Park and Peter Woodman of Beverly Hills.
