Services for James C. "Coke" Carothers, 90, of Gun Barrel City, were held 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 13, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank, with Mr. Ken Maddox officiating.
Interment
followed at 12:30 in the Grandview Cemetery in Grandview, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Carothers died Sept. 10, 1999, in Athens, following a short illness.
He was born March 11, 1909, in Grandview to James and Fannie Inez, (Davis) Carothers. Mr. Carothers was a member of the Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City and a member of the Masonic Lodge #33 AF & AM in Cortez, Colo. Mr. Carothers was a graduate of Colorado School of Mines in Galen, Colo., and retired in 1972 from National Lead Industries in Houston, where he traveled world wide as a geologist. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Syble Carothers in 1993.
Survivors include; wife, Marjorie (Lewis) Carothers of Gun Barrel City; step-sister, Ruby Brown of Italy, other family members and a host of friends.
Bobbie Faye Smith McAnally
Family visitation for Bobbie Faye Smith McAnally, 58, of Mabank, was held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home, of Kemp.
Mrs. McAnally died Sept. 11, 1999 at her home in Kemp, following a long illness.
She was born Sept. 12, 1940 in Rockwall County, to Georgie Frank and Imogene (Alderson) Smith. Mrs. McAnally was a retired school teacher, teaching in Sherman, Oklahoma City, Eustace, Terrell and Dallas, over a 33-year period. She was married to Harvey McAnally on Sept. 10, 1959 in Terrell. A brother, Howard Eugene Smith preceded her in death.
Survivors include; husband, Harvey McAnally of Mabank; brothers, George David Smith of Ellensburg, Wash., and Jimmy Dale Smith of Texas; other family members and a host of friends.
Leo R. Funnell
Graveside services for Leo R. Funnell, 73, of Malakoff, were 10 a.m., Tuesday, in Laural Oaks, Mesquite, with Rev. James Howard officiating.
Interment
followed in Laural Oaks Cemetery, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mr. Funnell died Sept. 11, 1999, in Athens.
He was born May 20, 1926, in El Paso, Ill. to the late Mary Barker. Mr. Funnell had lived in this area for five years and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include; wife, Lenora Funnell of Malakoff; sons, Leo R. Funnell of Haywood, Calif., David Funnell of Kewanee, Ill. and Billy Joe Funnell of Andover, Ill.; eight grandchildren and a host of friends.
Thelma R. Turner
Services for Thelma R. Turner, 89, of Eustace, were 1 p.m., Feb. 25, in Eubank Chapel, Canton, with Rev. Louie Barron officiating.
Interment
followed in Moorehead-Melton Cemetery, Eustace, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Inc., Canton.
Mrs. Turner died Feb. 22, 2000, in Athens.
She was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Ardmore, Okla., to John A. and Mary Margaret Warren Dixon. Mrs. Turner was Baptist by faith and spent most of her life in Eustace.
Survivors include; sons; Welcome L. Turner of Mabank, Jerald L. Turner of Chico, and Eldon T. Turner of Eustace; daughters, Betty Oates of Eustace, Lorene Louise Dickerson of Seagoville and Carolyn Sue Simpson of Gun Barrel City; six grandchildren; and a large number of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rick Gibbs, Eugene Oates, Terry Turner, Emmett Simpson, Steven Splawn, Jimmy Dickerson and Kevin Turner.
Claudean Norton
Services for Claudean Norton, 83, of Mabank, will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, in the First Baptist Church of Mabank, with Rev. James Harms officiating.

Mrs. Norton died Feb. 23, in Longview.
She was born July 8, 1916, in Kaufman, to Curtis Lee and Viola Bell (Brown) Norton. Mrs. Norton was a lifetime resident of Mabank and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mabank. She owned Norton Beauty Shop in Mabank. Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by her parents and brother, E. C. "Coleman" Norton.
Survivors include; sister-in-law, Alliene Johnson Norton of Longview; nephews, Allen "Al" Norton and Paul Norton, both of Longview; niece, Nancy Norton Hutson of California; numerous other family members and a host of friends.

She was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Dallas, to Homer and Sabrina (Stephens) Skinner. Previously of Irving, she had lived in Gun Barrel City for seven years and was a member of the Harbor Baptist Church in Payne Springs and a member of the Tamarack Ladies Club.

Melvina (Mel) Berry

Mrs. Berry died Feb. 17, 2000.
She was born April 19, 1951, in Hot Springs County, Ark. to Melvin and Marion (Rhoads) Burrow. Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her mother, Marion Burrow.

Sarah E. Jennings

Mrs. Jennings died Feb. 19, 2000, in Gun Barrel City.
She was born July 15, 1921, in Royce City, to Wylie and Annie (Martin) Daniel. Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Mabank and past president of the Alohas of Eastwood Island. Previously of Dallas, she lived in Gun Barrel City for 27 years.
Survivors include; husband, A. W. Jennings of Gun Barrel City; sons, Ron Jennings of Coppell and Paul Jennings of Odessa; brother, Altus Daniel of Dallas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Haskell J. Pears
Memorial services for Haskell J. Pears, 84, of Mabank, were 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 20, in the First United Methodist Church in Mabank, with Dr. Royce Riley officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Pears died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in Mabank.
He was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Greentown, Ind., to Matthew and Jessie (Motweiler) Pears. Previously of Clarksburg, W. Va., he had lived in Enchanted Oaks since 1980. Mr. Pears graduated from Washington Irving High School and attended Glenville State College and Oklahoma A&M.
Mr. Pears retired as general superintendent from Compressing Station Department of Equitable Gas Company in Clarksburg, W. Va., in October of 1980, after working there for 47 years. He was a member of the Athens Rotary Club and past president of the Clarksburg Rotary Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge AF & AM, Clarksburg Commandery No. 13, Knights Templar.
Mr. Pears also served on the executive board of the Central West Virginia Council, Boy Scouts of America and served two terms as the president and received the Silver Beaver Award in 1967. He was actively involved in the formation of Tri-County Youth Football League in West Virginia. He also served one term as city council member for the city of Enchanted Oaks and was election judge for several years. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mabank, Cedar Creek Country Club, American Legion Post 310 and served proudly in the U. S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Pears' wife of 52 years, Miriam Rees and daughter, Martha Jean, preceded him in death.
Survivors include; son, Daniel Pears of Houston; daughter, Anne Jones of Kemp; brothers, M. M. Pears of Florida and Coultas Pears of Alabama; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

John Richard (Ricky) Reese
Services for John Richard (Ricky) Reese, 55, of Waco, were 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, at Kerens Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Tom Prentiss officiating.
Interment
followed in Kerens Cemetery, under the direction of Paschal Funeral Home, Kerens.
Mr. Reese died Feb. 18, 2000, in Hillcrest Hospital.
He was born Dec. 28, 1945, in Kerens. Mr. Reese was a radio and electronic technician. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Reese Curry.
Survivors include; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Hope Reese of Kerens; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were friends and members of the family.
Leslie (Les) Chandler
Services for Leslie (Les) Chandler, 81, of Mabank, were 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 21, in the Mabank Church of Christ with Lester Reagan officiating.
Interment
followed in Cana Cemetery in Van Zandt County, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Chandler died Feb. 18, 2000, in Dallas.
He was born July 22, 1918, in Kaufman County to Leslie Carmon and Gusta (Gunderson) Chandler. Mr. Chandler was a member of the Eustace Church of Christ and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carmon and Ansel Chandler.
Survivors include sisters; Nellie Thomas of Mabank and Melba Roberts of Canton; brothers, James Chandler of DeSoto, William Irvine Chandler of Palestine, Stafford Chandler of Canton, Clifton Chandler of Midlothian and Gene Chandler of Tyler; and a number of other family members. He is also survived by a special friend, Pearl Alexander of Eustace.
Pallbearers were Bobby, Farris, Brant, Kenny and Keith Chandler, Dennis Thomas and Brady Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers are David, Jamie and Greg Chandler, Leslie Thomas, Don Alan and Russell Roberts.
Peggy Odell Constable
Memorial services for Peggy Odell Constable, 73, of Mabank, will be held at a later date, with arrangements under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Constable died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in Mabank.
She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Sarasota, Fla., to Oliver and Minnie (Blount) Thornton and lived in Mabank since 1995. Mrs. Constable was Pentecostal by faith.
Survivors include; son, and daughter-in-law, James and Lillian Constable of Mabank; daughters, and sons-in-law, Terri and Ray Kaminski of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Marja and Everett Peach of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Larry Allen Wegner

Mr. Wegner died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Tyler.
He was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Robert S. and Barbara (Allen) Wegner. Mr. Wegner grew up in Gorton and graduated from Groton High School in 1959. He graduated from South Dakota State University, Brookings, S. D. in 1963. While in high school and college he played football. Mr. Wegner was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. During college he was in ROTC where he developed his yearning for flying. After college he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam. He flew KC135 tankers and attained the rank of captain. After his Air Force career, Mr. Wegner joined American Airlines.
Mr. Wegner married Linda Pope of Aberdeen on Sept. 1, 1963. He married Marcia Willis on May 2, 1983. Mr. Wegner was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann who died at the age of three, in 1968.
Survivors include; daughter, Stephanie Gean Jackson and grandchildren; Brenden and Jourdan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; parents; brothers, George and wife, Carol of Medina, Mn., Robert W. and wife, Jeannette of Groton, S. D.; sister, Jeanne and husband, Rob Wanous of Groton, S. D.

Mrs. Bolin died Feb. 18, 2000, at her residence in Mesquite.
She was born April 20, 1922, in Gustine, to Guy and Roberta White. For 20 years Mrs. Bolin and her husband owned and operated Bolins' Drive-In Gorcery Store in Seven Points. Mrs. Bolin was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Bolin of Nov. 27, 1995; four brothers, Mickey White, Guy White, Harwood White and Clyle White; two sisters, Bonnie Tony and Doris Parker.

He was born July 24, 1916, in Benjamin, to William and Effie Lee Dollison. Previously of Dallas, he had lived in Mabank for 32 years. Mr. Dollison was a member of the Payne Springs Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #759 in Malakoff and a lifetime member of D.A.V. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served in World War II. Mr. Dollison is preceded in death by his parents, William and Effie Dollison; son, Tommy Don Dollison Sr.; sister, Ruby Newby; brothers, Virgle E. and Billy Lee Dollison.

She was born Nov. 13, 1907, in Morrison, Okla., to Abraham Lincoln and Sarah Jane (Colvin) Kent. Previously of Andrews, she had lived in Mabank since 1978 and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Moran was a member of the Loon Bay Ladies Club.

Mrs. Pendarvis died May 22, 2000.
She was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Trinidad, to Thomas Jefferson and Daisy O'Dell Trotman, Jr. Mrs. Pendarvis lived in the Dallas area since 1967 and had lived in Rockwall for 11 years. She was a member of the Trinidad United Methodist Church of Trinidad. Mrs. Pendarvis was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Pendarvis in 1986.

Carl Edward Woodall

Mr. Woodall died May 19, 2000, at his residence, in Mesquite.
He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Athens, La., later moved to Edgewood and the Fruitvale area, where he was raised by his mother, Jewell Fore and attended the Pleasant Union Baptist Church. Mr. Woodall moved from the Edgewood area at the age of 21, to the Dallas area.

Mrs. Bullock died Aug. 7, 2000, in Tyler, following a short illness.
She was born Nov. 2, 1938 to George Thural and Georgie Opal (Ellisor) DeMoss. Previously of Wylie, she had lived in Mabank for 14 years and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Bullock loved her grandchildren and family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teressa June Bullock Morgan on Oct. 30, 1998.

Eugene Lavern Jackson
Services for Eugene Lavern Jackson, 77, of Mabank, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank, with Mr. Charles W. Lamb and Mr. Berle M. Lamb officiating.
Interment
will follow at 5 p.m., Saturday, in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Jackson died Aug. 9, 2000, in Kaufman, following a long illness.
He was born March 11, 1923, in Manchester, to W. H. and Mina Brice Jackson. Previously of Dallas, Mr. Jackson had lived in Mabank for 15 years and was a member of the Grace Temple Baptist Church in Dallas. Mr. Jackson retired in 1982 from Huey-Phillip Hardware and Orrs Hill Brother Hardware in Dallas. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served in World War II.
Survivors include; his loving wife, Marcelene Jackson of Mabank; daughter, Nancy C. Jackson of Mabank; brothers, W. H. "Dub" Jackson of Dallas and Melvin F. Jackson of Cleveland; brothers-in-law, Charles W. Lamb of Plano and Berle M. Lamb of Duncanville; eight nephews; three nieces; other family members and a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tara Jackson, Stone Berger, Tim Lamb, David Lamb, Mark Lamb, Paul Lamb, Michael Lamb, Mary Lamb, J. R. Jackson and Trevor Jackson.
Clarence Albert Pritchard
Services for Clarence Albert Pritchard, 91, of Granbury, were 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, in the Chapel of the Eeds Funeral Home, with Bro. Bob Hailey officiating.
Interment
followed in the Liberty Cemetery, under the direction of Eeds Funeral Home.
Mr. Pritchard died Aug. 4, 2000, in the Grandbury Villa Nursing Center in Granbury.
He was born Dec. 8, 1908, in Brownwood, to George W. and Mary Lucinda Trammel Pritchard. Mr. Pritchard was united in marriage to Mary Alice Barber, Sept. 1, 1933, in Dale. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Pritchard was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Vella Pritchard Barber and Edna Lois Pritchard.
Survivors include; wife, Mary Alice Pritchard of Granbury; sons, and their wives, Louis Odell and Ursula Pritchard of Granbury, Donnie Clint and Kay Pritchard of Scurry and Douglas Lynn and Vivien Pritchard of Union Center, S. D.; step-brothers, Estelle Lackey, Jr., of Washington State and Lawrence Lackey of Luling; affectionately known as "pop" to his five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Tiffany Pritchard, Patrick and Janice Pritchard, Timothy and Estella Pritchard, Terry and Latrice Pritchard and Shwan and Gidget Pritchard all of the Dallas, Fort Worth area; as well as his 10, great-grandchildren; seven, step-grandchildren and spouses.
Patty M. Estes
Services for Patty M. Estes, 70, of Kemp, were 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, at Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Roy Merritt and Bro. Jim Addison officiating.
Interment
followed at Kemp Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Estes died Aug. 8, 2000, in Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman.
She was born July 20, 1930, to Mont Pritchett and Alta Belle Williams in Kaufman County. Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by her husband, Guinn C. Estes.
Survivors include; son, Larry Estes of Kemp; mother, Bell Pritchett of Kemp; grandchildren, Julie Estes of Kaufman, Tim Estes and his wife, Andrea of Kaufman, Tracy Estes and his wife, Maria of Terrell; great-grandchildren, Megan and Krissie Estes; brother, Wilburn Pritchett of Kemp; aunt, Vernie Randall; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Billie Jean Hanna
Services for Billie Jean Hanna , 72, of Kemp, were held Sunday, Aug. 20, at Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home in Kemp, with Rev. John Grigsby and Rev. Leonard Jackson officiating and Clifton Smith giving the eulogy.
Interment
followed in Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home, Kemp.
Mrs Hanna died Aug. 18, 2000, in Kemp.
She was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Aley to Jack and Mattie (Godwin) Patterson and married James "Pat" Hanna in Rockwall on Dec. 26, 1947. Mrs. Hanna had a public teaching career that spanned 35 years, 32 of those years at the Kemp High School. She received a Bachelors degree from Texas Women's University and a Masters degree from East Texas State University. Mrs. Hanna served as a municipal judge, served on the Kemp City Council and spent eight years on the Kemp ISD board of trustees. She was honored by the State Board of Education as a Texas Hero for Children. She also served on the Kaufman County Child Welfare Board. Mrs. Hanna was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kemp.
Survivors include; husband, James Pat Hanna of Kemp; sons, Dr. Mike Hanna, M.D., and wife Cletus of Huntsville, Mark Hanna of Dallas and Forest Dane Hanna and wife, Lori of Austin; daughter, Laura Ann and husband, Britt Peace of Kemp; grandchildren, Chris Hanna of Dallas, Seth Hanna of Deluth Minn., Nick Vilbas of Kemp and Patrick Peace of Kemp; brother, J. C. Patterson and wife, Colleen of Aley; nieces, Sharon Snuffer of West Hartford, Conn., and Cheryl Whitehead of Corsicana; numerous other family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Doug Doss, Dan Doss, Tyson Barnes, Jr. MD, Eugene "Strike" Franklin, Jimmy McNair, Harvey McDougald, Gerald Whitehead, Edward Rocha, Jimmy Valentine and Robert McFaul.
Honorary pallbearers were Tyson Barnes, Sr., Al Williamson, Charlie Doss, Mike Shivers, Pete Eldridge, Jimmy Collinsworth DVM, James Greathouse and Don Jedlicka.

Harvey Cozell Towns
Services for Harvey Cozell Towns, 89, of Dallas, were 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, in Eubank Chapel, Canton, with Rev. Jessie Rogers and Rev. Edward L. Ward, Jr. officiating.
Interment
followed in Holly Springs Cemetery, Martins Mill, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Inc., Canton.
Mr. Towns died Aug. 20, 2000, in Rowlett, after a short illness.
He was born July 18, 1910, in Martins Mill, to William Franklin and Fannie Mae Noble Towns. Mr. Towns served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Richardson. Mr. Towns worked in the oil field for several years and moved quite often. He settled in Dallas in 1950 and was a self-employed contractor for many years. Mr. Towns was a good son, brother husband and father. He had many friends and loved them all. Mr. Towns was preceded in death by a son, David Ronald Towns.
Survivors include; wife, Mrs. Ruth A. Towns of Dallas; sister, Mrs. Chistell Benningfield of Grand Prairie; sister-in-law, Mrs. Wynette Markham of Rockwall; three nieces and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Mack Reid, Jack White, Benny Henderson, Bill Taylor, Jack Reid and Junior White.
Jetta Glenn Ray Teague
No services are scheduled at this time for infant Jetta Glenn Ray Teague. Arrangements were with Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Jetta died Aug. 20, 2000, in Dallas.
He was born Aug. 20, 2000, in Dallas, the son of Jetta Roy Teague and Terry Capehart and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Waylond Teague and by Uncle Glenn Ray Teague.
Survivors include; parents, Jetta Roy Teague and Terry Capehart of Gun Barrel City; brother, Tyler Garvin of Gun Barrel City; grandmother, Evelyn Teague of Gun Barrel City; aunts, Sheila Ann Teague of Mabank and Candy Guill and husband, Alan of Gun Barrel City; niece, Erika Guill; nephews, James Guill and Cody Teague; numerous other family members.
