Jackie Cameron Wambsgans
Jackie Cameron Wambsgans, 46, of Fort Smith, died Thursday, Dec. 23, at her home. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Md., and past president of the Silver Spring Lions Club. An award-winning poet, she was also a Sunday School teacher, a volunteer worker at Woodland School and a contract specialist for the Government.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gill Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Silver Spring, Md; a daughter, Angela Nicole Torres of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Matthew Cameron Wambsgans of the home and David Blair Wambsgans of Washington, D.C.; 10 sisters, Cathy Hall of Tulsa, Linda Preston, Vickie Jones, Gladys Smith and Sandy Chamberlin, all of Fort Smith, Shirley Watkins of Mountainburg, Virginia Runion of Bethalto, Ill., and Betty Mann, Darlene Johnson and Mary Whatley, all of Van Buren; three brothers, Floyd Cameron of Alma, Billy Cameron of Fort Smith and Don Cameron of Alabama; and one grandchild, Ashley Nicole Torres of Washington, D.C.
Pallbearers will be John Jones, James Hampton, Darrell Gattis, Will and Justin Cameron and Joaquin Torres.
The family will visit with friends until 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bobby Maxwell
Bobby J. Maxwell, 55, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Fort Smith. He was an electrician for Planter Peanuts for 21 years and member of Mixon Baptist Church in Booneville.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at 3 p.m. at Caulksville Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Bobby Maxwell Jr. of Bend, Ore.; two stepsons, Marty Price of Ratcliff and Kris Price of Greenwood; two brothers, Donald Maxwell of Denver, Colo., and Kenneth Maxwell of Benton; two grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Russell Bell, Russ Evans, Paul Howard, Billy Wilson, Russell McDaniel, Jim Steele, Bill Rider and Otis Arnold.
The family will visit with friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Linda Johnson
Linda Ann Johnson, 49, of Fort Smith, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in a local hospital. She was a poker dealer.
A private service will be held at Mission City Memorial Park in Santa Clara, Calif., with local arrangements under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Allison Johnson of Fort Smith; two sons, Joseph Davidson of Reno, Nev., and Scott Johnson of Sacramento, Calif.; her father, Roy of Fort Smith; a sister, Connie Hays of Fort Smith; four brothers, Clifford and Jerry, both of Antioch, Calif., Raymond of Mulberry and Johnny of Mountain View, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Clara Elizabeth Davidson of Reno.

May Hatfield
May Hatfield, 98, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and Jehovah’s Witness.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home.
She is survived by a host of friends.

Mildred White
Mildred Pauline White, 93, of Booneville died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in a Booneville hospital. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Booneville. She was the widow of Everett White.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Gene White McComas and Leona Godfrey, both of Booneville; three sons, Clifford of Loveland, Colo., Virgil of West Fork and Richard of Booneville; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

James Ferguson
James Rex Ferguson, 82, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 23, in a local hospital. He was a retired plant manager at Riverside Furniture in Fort Smith and a member of Midland Heights Methodist Church.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday at Edwards Van Alma Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; two daughters, Judy Howard of Fayetteville and Linda Spears of Rogers; a son, David Ferguson of Alma; three sisters, Ora Sullivan of Springfield, Mo., Dema Smith of Van Buren and Bulas Mitchell of Van Buren; six grandchildren, Ryan and Brent Howard, Julie Spears, Kristin, Katelyn and Kelby Ferguson; and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Bill Martin, Bill Cole, Ron Selby, Richard Udouj, Brett Avlos and Ron Southall.
The family will visit with friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Benjamin Kelly
Benjamin Allen Kelly, 3, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in a Little Rock Hospital.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mount McCurry Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Vonda Kelly of Chester; his father, Nathan Kelly of Fort Smith; a brother, Matthew of Fort Smith; a sister, Rachel Kelly of Fort Smith; maternal grandmother, Joyce Irvin of Chester; and paternal grandmother, Edith Kelly of Fort Smith.

Carl Reames
Carl J. Reames, 83, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in a nursing home. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Knights of Columbus and was a Eucharist Minister and Lector at Immaculate Conception. He was retired warrant officer for the U.S. Army, company commander of 39th Engineers in Korea. He was an avid golfer and former superintendent of Water Pollution Control for the city of Fort Smith. He was a member of the Arkansas E.P.A.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception. The body was cremated and will be buried at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla Reames of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Sister of Christian Doctrine Angela Reames of New York and Gladys Reames Prather of South Carolina; and two brothers, Charles Reames of Bath, S.C., and Ray Reames of Fort Mill, S.C.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Education Fund, 22 N. 13th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Mattie Paul
OZARK — Mattie Paul, 87, of Ozark died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in an Ozark Nursing Home. She was a graduate of College of the Ozarks and obtained a Masters degree in social work from Tulane University. She worked as an area supervisor for the welfare department and as the county director for the welfare department from 1934 until retirement. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Ozark. She was the widow of Jack D. Paul.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church of Ozark with burial at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by two nieces, Susie Cunningham of Clarksville and Mickey Wiley of Van Buren
The family will visit with friends Monday at Mrs. Paul’s home at 607 River Street in Ozark.

Chester McElhaney
OZARK — Chester Argest McElhaney, 96, of Ozark died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in his home. He was a retired owner/operator of small businesses in the Ozark area including restaurants, grocery stores and rental property. He was the widower of Attie (McKenzie) McElhaney.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark with burial at Highland Cemetery.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Hyler of Ozark; six sons, Dean of Conway, Bob of Ozark, Bill of Bennett, Colo., Argest of Hooks, Texas, Louis of Lawrence, Kan., and Ealeard of Tuttle, Okla; one brother, Luther of Lake City, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dean, Bob, Bill, Argest, Louis and Ealeard McElhaney.
The family will visit with friends from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Homer Irwin
ALIX — Homer Irwin, 84, of Alix died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, in an Ozark hospital. He was a steel worker and a Mason.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Irwin, and several nieces and nephews.

Sarah Coble
ARKOMA — Sarah H. Coble, 60, of Arkoma died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in Arkoma. A homemaker and former employee of OK Foods, she was a member of Christ for the World Church.
Graveside service is 1 p.m. Monday at Tamaha Cemetery with burial to follow at the Stigler cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by a daughter, Beckie Harris of Arkoma; two sisters, Lorene Reed of Cassville, Mo., and Jocie Haskins of Arkoma; a brother, Jimmie Buckner of Spiro; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Buckner, Gary Harris Jr., Ronald and Charles Munday, Michael Foster, Charlie Grantham, Paul Jackson and Roy Jones.

Aubrey Rogers
SANTA MARIA, Calif. — Aubrey “Earl” Rogers, 87, of Santa Maria, Calif., formerly of Paris, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at his residence. He worked in packing sheds, owned a gas station and had a small apartment complex. He was a member of Elizabeth Hall Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He was the widower of Rosa Sherrell Rogers and Ora Harrison Lowe Rogers.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Roller Chapel with burial at Elizabeth Hall Cemetery in New Blaine.
He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Rogers of Santa Maria; a granddaughter, JoLynda Crowley of Santa Maria; four sisters, Frankie Martin of Ventura, Calif., Lera Swint, Rosemary McCarty and Irene Wooton, all of Springdale; a brother, T.M. of Stockton, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren;
Pallbearers will be Bill and Tony Gandy, Marvin Wiggins, Kelly, Scott and Don Parker.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Tommy James
GUM SPRINGS, Okla. — The Rev. Tommy O. James, 76, of Gum Springs community, Okla., died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in Fort Smith. He was founder and pastor of Gum Springs Freewill Baptist Church for 40 years. He was and ordained as a freewill Baptist minister in 1953. He was a Farmers Union insurance agent in Gore and Vian for 38 years, a cattle and hog rancher and an Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gum Springs Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Gore.
He is survived by his wife, Callie; and two sisters, Ruby Raper of Sapulpa, Okla., and Martha Risley of Gum Springs.
Pallbearers are George Pruitt, J.C. Hart, Colan Clark, Arthur Carter, Carl Reeves and Danny Webster.
The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home.

Elsie Coleman
ARKOMA — Elsie L. Coleman, 80, of Arkoma died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Pocola. She was a homemaker and retired cook for the Arkoma Public Schools.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial park in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Acel of Arkoma; a daughter, Glenda Henry of Arkoma; a brother, Roscoe Woodard of Fort Smith; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Donnie, L.B., Larry, Phil, Randy and Steven Woodard.
The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Brenda Galloway
CLARKSVILLE — Brenda Allison Galloway, 89, formerly of Clarksville died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in a Russellvile nursing home. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1933 and was a public health nurse in Marion County from 1933 to 1935. She maried in 1935 and returned to Clarksville and served the community as a registered nurse for 30 years. She was the widow of Truman Galloway.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the FIrst United Methodist Church in Clarksville with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a son, William of Russellvile; a daughter, Sylvia Butler of Little Rock; a sister, Beatrice Jacks of Monticello; and a grandson, James Bradley Butler, a student at the University of Arkansas.
The family will visit with friends from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lena Goodwin
WISTER, Okla. — Lena C. Goodwin, of Wister, Okla, died at her home Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999. She was a native of Keota, Okla., and a homemaker.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church in Wister. Burial will be at Tamaha Cemetery in Tamaha, Okla., under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; a daughter, Joan Long of Sallisaw; three sons, Randell Conley of Wister, Rick Conley of Roland, and Jack Conley of Lequire, Okla.; three stepsons, Gordon of Mountainburg, Garth of Alma and Ratha of Van Buren; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sally Johnson and Lee Timmons, both of Keota, and Pauline Salyers of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a brother, Alex Buckner of Keota.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Conley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Frank Noe
PARIS — Frank Delana Noe, 66, of Paris died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in Paris. He was a heavy equipment operator, a sergeant in the Marine Corps, a Korean War veteran and a member of Paris Christian Center.
Funeral service will be a2 p.m. Tuesday at Paris Christian Center with burial at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home, Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Noe; two daughters, Frankie Lynn Riordan of Paris and Teresa Cole of Paris; a son, Chester of Paris; two sisters, Alma Noe of Arlington, Texas, and Maryann Addis of New York; two brothers, Clarence of Los Angeles and Ricky of Bakersfield, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Tom and Jerry Riordan, Hastings Cale, Charles Jackson, Robert Freeman and Chester Noe.
