Justus Franklin Hatfield
Justus Franklin "Chick" Hatfield, 81, of Little Rock died Thursday (April 30, 1998) in Little Rock.
Born Feb. 12, 1917, in Mount Vernon, son of the late Gertrude Powers Hatfield and Lester Hatfield, he was the widower of Ellen Hogan Hatfield and a retired teacher, coach and businessman. He was also a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Conway High School and a 1938 graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas). While at ASTC, he was named to "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities," and played for four years on the varsity basketball team. He participated in running, vaulting and jumping for the track team.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Hatfield of Little Rock and Kenneth Hatfield of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Mildred Sirman of Little Rock and Myra Edmondson of Conway; a brother, Gene Hatfield of Conway; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Saturday at Hunter United Methodist Church. Burial was at Mount Vernon Cemetery by Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Jesse Lee Brock
Jesse Lee Brock, 57, of Greenbrier, died Thursday (April 30, 1998) at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born Oct. 18, 1940, in McCrory, son of Orgil and Leatha Cantrell Brock, he was the widower of Sherry Jean Holly Brock and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a retired siding installer.
Survivors include a son, David Brock of Pulman, Mich.; three daughters, Marsha Whitfield, Sharon Brock and Christy Willis, all of Greenbrier; seven brothers, Hubert Brock of Dongola, Ill., Wayne Brock of Cutler, Ill., Odell Brock of Vilonia, Leon Brock and Bobby Don Brock, both of Texas, and Ralph Brock and Kenneth Brock, both of Conway; five sisters, Laura Bedow of Conway, Haley Lellum of Texarkana, Texas, Kathy Scribner of Azle, Texas, Ruth Campbell of Vilonia and Shelia Lunsford of Boyd, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday are Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Bernard officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Valley Cemetery in Vilonia.
Family visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Vern Edward Lee
Vern Edward Lee, 82, of Clinton, formerly of Conway, died Wednesday (April 29, 1998) at his home.
Born Oct. 6, 1915, in Bradley, Ill., son of George Benjamin and Ruth Irene Hays Lee, he was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired estimator for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Cadron Ridge Baptist Church in Conway.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Brown Lee; two sons, David Malcolm Lee of Russellville and Scott Edward Lee of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Vivian Karrel Bankster of Clinton; and three grandchildren.
Memorial service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Gipson officiating. The body will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Arkansas Home Hospice.
Ethel Wingo
Ethel Wingo, 83, of Oxley, mother of Betty Vance of Conway, died Friday (May 1, 1998) in Little Rock.
Born May 18, 1914, in Killeen, Texas, she was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Other survivors include five sons, Bruce Wingo of Dickson, Tenn., Allen Wingo and Tom Wingo, both of Phoenix, Ariz., Dan Wingo of Marshall and Doug Wingo of Oxley; two other daughters, Ilene Askew of Oxley and Judy Holley of Harrison; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

James Edward Emmons
James Edward Emmons, 77, of Bee Branch, father of James Emmons of Greenbrier, died Thursday (April 30, 1998) in Searcy.
Born Jan. 16, 1921, in Carmine, son of Bert Ira and Arminda Hardin Emmons, he was a retired carpenter and the widower of Myrtle Gates Emmons. He was also preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
Other survivors include another son, Charles Emmons of Bee Branch; five daughters, Linda Lamb and Donna Crisler, both of Bee Branch, Betty Lawson of Pineville, Mo., Faye Sullivan of Grayson, La., and Freida Marsh of Gravesville; a brother, Junior Emmons of Memphis; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Auldon R. Smith
Auldon R. Smith, 75, of Greenbrier, died Friday (May 1, 1998) at his home.
Born Sept. 17, 1922, in Enola, a son of John and Lena Grimes Smith, he was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired bus and truck driver, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Freda M. Smith; two sons, Robby Smith of Conway and Gaylon Smith of Enola; three daughters, Marilyn Ruple of Naylor, Judy Hemmerich of Vilonia and Beckie Walker of Baton Rouge, La.; two step-daughters, Becky Crum of Conway and Donna Milam of Greenbrier; a brother, Fayburn Smith of Enola; a sister, Sarah Smith of Marian, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Etta Lee Dunn McKinnie
Mrs. Etta Lee Dunn McKinnie, 93, of El Dorado, mother of Gale Raycher of Conway, died Thursday (Dec. 31, 1998) at an El Dorado hospital.
Born Dec. 18, 1905, in Calhoun County, a daughter of James E. and Louella Priddy Dunn, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Amos Lee McKinnie, and two daughters, Mary Lou Hayes and Margie Walker.
Other survivors are a daughter, Rebecca Gunn of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Rudy McKinnie of Dallas; a sister, Christine McKinnie of Barboursville, W.Va.; a stepsister, Juanita Dunn of Hampton (Calhoun County); 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Oda Pearl Hardy, 96, of Sherwood, aunt of Hoyt Hardy and Frank Hardy, both of Greenbrier, died Friday (Jan. 1, 1999).
Born Nov. 14, 1902, in Faulkner County, a daughter of Harrison and Mollie Herrington Hardy, she was a licensed practical psychiatric technician.

Mrs. Sayre
Mrs. Dorothy Ione Hornbeck Sayre, 90, of Mayflower, died Thursday (Dec. 31, 1998).
Born Aug. 7, 1908, in DeWitt (Arkansas County), a daughter of Harry and Clara Turner Hornbeck, she was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Sayre.
Survivors are one son, Bill Norsworthy of Mayflower; one daughter, Aneita Chance of Conway; one brother, Harmon Hornbeck, of DeWitt; one sister, Lois Armstrong of Bentonville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Crest Cemetery.
Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

Lisa Johnston Cates
Lisa Johnston Cates, 37, of North Little Rock, died Saturday (Jan. 2, 1999).
Born March 31, 1961, in North Little Rock, a daughter of Calvin and Billie Dickens Johnston, she was a 1979 graduate of Northeast High School, a 1983 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a degree in marketing, and a member of Park Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Emily Cates; her mother, Billie Johnston; two sisters, Donna Brooks and Cathy Johnston; a nephew, Bryan Brooks; and a niece, Whitney Brooks.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Park Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Virginia Marie Erbach
Miss Virginia Marie Erbach, 89, of Conway died Wednesday (Jan. 19, 2000) at Heritage Living Center.
Born April 20, 1910, in New York City, daughter of the late Henry and Appolonia Thines Erbach, she was in dairy and food service, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir with her father and was a member of the altar society.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Henry Erbach Sr.
Survivors are a sister-in-law, Agnes Erbach; two nephews, Tom and Edd Erbach; and a niece, Marilyn Worm, all of Conway.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Deniger officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Born June 3, 1923, in Alma, a daughter of the late J.W. and Stella Pearl Cates Wells, she was a homemaker, a teacher and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was the widow of Raymond E. Dow.
Survivors are a son, Edward Lee Dow of Conway; two daughters, Raye Jean Linn of Damascus and Katie Dow of North Little Rock; two sisters, Helen Graham of Fort Smith and Jamie Warbritton of Conway; and four grandchildren.

Survivors are three sons, Blake Cook and Allen Bruce Cook, both of Hazen (Prairie County), and Michael Warren Cook of Conway; three daughters, Debra Jean Burns and Karen Michelle Cook, both of Conway, and Julie Lee Watkins; three brothers, James Smith of Conway and Donnie and Larry McDaniel, both of California; three sisters, Sandra Stone and Sue Glaze, both of California, and Brenda Hanson of Conway; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

James D. King
James D. King, 84, of Conway died Monday (Feb. 1, 1999) at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born Jan. 22, 1915, in Conway, a son of James Daniel and Ester Allen King, he was a retired depot agent for Missouri-Pacific Railroad and a widower. He was also a member of Green Grove Lodge 107, the Railroad Retirees Association and Pickles Gap Baptist Church.
Survivors are two sons, Jim Bill King of Conway and Joe D. King of Greenbrier; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Born March 2, 1921, in Mount Vernon, Texas, daughter of Pinkum F. and Mamie Williams, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. McMillan Sr.; a son, Buck McMillan; and a grandson, Todd Downey.
Other survivors are a son, Nick Downey of Gurdon (Clark County); four daughters, Julia Anne Wolfe of Smackover (Union County) Najgy McPherson of Gurdon, Jeannette Neary of Haughton, La., and Linda Taggard of Arkadelphia; three brothers, Sam J. She was born in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late Henry and Lenora Keathley.
She was the widow of Eli Gentry.
Survivors are nieces, Edith Moring and Ann Mayor, both of Conway, several other nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law, and a great-niece.

Mrs. Verlie Wooley Foit, 90, of North Little Rock, sister of Rayburn Wooley of Enola, died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2000).
Born July 17, 1909, in Greenbrier, a daughter of the late Alfred Mack and Jessie Henderson Wooley, she was retired from Timex Corp. and a member of Centerville United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Delbert Foit.
She is also survived by a sister, Theda Anhalt of North Little Rock.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home with the Rev. James Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Born Jan. 7, 1917, in Manitowoc, Wis., son of the late Frank and Julia Schultz Musial, he was a retired welder and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Kilman.
Survivors are his wife, Lucille Mandel Musial; a son, Ron Musial of Greenbrier; a daughter, Nancy Carter of Paso Robles, Calif.; two sisters, Marion Hoeppner of Manitowoc, Wis., and Lucille Rabinovitz of Sheboygan, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. John Yates officiating.

Mrs. Lorena Estella Winston McClain Fifer, 85, of Quitman died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2000).
Born June 30, 1914, in Cord (Independence County), daughter of the late Nathan and Jetrue Winston, she was a retired beautician and a member of First Assembly of God in Heber Springs.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, N. L. McClain and Bill Fifer.
Survivors are a daughter, Wanda Kerr of Quitman; a son, Nathaniel McClain of White Hall (Jefferson County); nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas J. 'Tom' Milton
Thomas J. "Tom" Milton, 54, of Little Rock, father of Michael Milton of Conway and brother of Jim Milton of Conway, died Wednesday (March 3, 1999) after a sudden illness.
Born in Fort Smith, he was employed as a vice president for On Hold Marketing and was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve. He was a past city director of Little Rock and an active member of Fellowship Bible Church, where he served as a production assistant in the worship ministry. He also volunteered as a fund-raiser for Central Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute (CARTI) and Young Life.
Other survivors are his wife of 27 years, Dee Milton; two daughters, Sherri Funk of Maumelle and Elizabeth Milton of Little Rock; and another brother, John Milton of Urbana, Ill.
