Ronald Lang
Ronald G. Lang, 62, of Laurinburg, N.C., died March 18, 2001, at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina.
Born in Oil City, Pa., he graduated from high school and college there. He worked in the rubber industry in Ohio, then moved to Laurinburg where he was plant manager at Eaton Rubber Company for 20 years. He was an avid golfer and a computer expert. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Laurinburg.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; his mother and stepfather Mary and Charles Russell of Cherokee Village; a son, Randol Lang of Cleveland; a daughter, Debra Lang of Cleveland; and three grandchildren Ryan, Ravenne and Foster, all of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his father, G.A. Lang.
The funeral was March 21 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church and another service was March 23 at Willoughby Hills Methodist Church near Cleveland.
Denmon Langley
Denmon Isaac Langley, 51, of Ash Flat died April 9, 2001, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village.
Born Nov. 21, 1949, in Winnsboro, La., he was the son of Clarence Eugene Langley and Noel Faccnia Brooks Langley. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Janis Langley of Greenville, Ala.; two sons Christopher Carrington of Houma, La., and Wesley Carrington of New Iberia, La.; two step-sons Daniel Chase II and Joseph Chase, both of Monroe, La.; a daughter, Sierra Langley of Houma; five sisters Jerri Jones of Ash Flat, Melody Bell, Constance Bell and Cindia Alexander, all of Hot Springs, and Cecclia Fielder of Buckeye, Ariz.; and three grandchildren Briana, Christopher and Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Kathryn LaSage
Kathryn Marie LaSage, 76, of Cherokee Village died March 29, 2001, at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro.
Born Nov. 1, 1924, in Oshkosh, Wisc., she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Herbst Grinnell. She was a packer at Jack Winter Clothing Company in Brown Deed, Wis., for 14 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis LaSage; a daughter, Sharon Koeppl of Cherokee Village; a son, Curtis LaSage Jr. of Germantown, Wisc.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A memorial service was April 2 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial followed in St. Michael's Columbarium.
John Lawrence
John Herman Lawrence, 72, of Highland, died Feb. 19, 2001.
Born Dec. 4, 1928, in Trumann, he was self-employed at various trades, including cabinet maker and farmer. He was a Christian and worshipped at Ash Flat Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, DeLoris; four sons Larry Doyle Lawrence of Jonesboro, Garry Herman Lawrence of Hardy, Douglas Franklin Stone of Melbourne, and Jeffery Duane Stone of Hot Springs Village; two sisters Minnie Boyer of Cleveland, Tenn., and Rachel Cypret of Maryland Heights, Mo.; three brothers Paul Lawrence of Jonesboro, David Lawrence of Fisher, and Dwight Lawrence of Beverly Hills, Calif.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Newton Lawrence and Annie Audrisch Lawrence, a grandson, a niece and a nephew.
The funeral was Feb. 21 at Ash Flat Church of Christ with Jack Pruitt officiating. Burial followed in Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat.
Pallbearers were Dennis Wiles, Charlie Holloway, Mark Johnson, Danny Clayton, Billy Joe French and Dewayne Stotts.
Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Swetnam, Shane Swetnam, Jim Coleman, Terry Stark, Bill Shelton, Dennis Horton, David Harris and Bill Nix.
Eugene Lawrey
Eugene W. Lawrey, 75, of Hardy died Nov. 30, 2000, at White River Medical Center.
He was born June 11, 1924, at Mammoth Spring and was a teacher at Poughkeepsie School District. He also served in the Navy during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Michael Lawrey of Harveiell, Mo.; three daughters - Debi Evans of Hardy, Vikki Gotte of Cherokee Village, and Teresa Lawrey of Hardy; four sisters - Virgie Carson of Pomona, Calif., Wanda Carson of Walnut Ridge, Millie Greer of Texas, and Pauline Hudson of Rolla, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was Dec. 1 at Center Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Foundation.
Arrangements were under the direction of Heath Funeral Home-Oak Hill Chapel of Hardy.
Lawrence Lawson
Lawrence D. "Dink" Lawson, 76, of Ravenden died May 24, 2001, at his home.
Born Aug. 19, 1924, in White Oak, he was the son of Henry and Louverne Miller Lawson. He was a pipefitter and retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1982 after 30 years. He also was a Navy veteran and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Lawson; four sons Garry Franklin Lawson of Ravenden, Richard L. Lawson of Hoxie, Morris R. Lawson of Cherokee Village, and Allen Lawson of Paragould; two daughters Fay Ubelhor of Imboden, and Alice Faye King of Tucumcari, N.M.; two stepsons Gary Andersen of Mountain Home, and Donald Andersen of Paragould; two stepdaughters Jeanette Ellis of Pocahontas, and Glenda Harvey of Paragould; two sisters Wilma Barkemeyer of Grants Pass, Ore., and Hellen Wheat of Dewitt; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was May 27 at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bynum officiating. Burial followed at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
Pallbearers were Buddy Parrish, Allie Parrish, Don Parrish, Jimmy Parrish, Earl Parrish, and A.J. McDaniel.
Ralph Lingelbach
Ralph S. Lingelbach, 83, of Horseshoe Bend died April 23, 2001, at Fulton County Hospital.
He was a member of the Horseshoe Bend Kiwanis and Golf Club. He was also a member of Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie B. Lingelbach; a son, Ralph E. Lingelbach of Fox River Grove, Ill.; a sister, Ruth Sevits of Pueblo West, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ruth.
No service is planned at this time.

Wendell Longworth
Wendell Wayne Longworth, 87, of Horseshoe Bend died Jan. 8, 2001, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born May 8, 1913, in McLean, Ill., he was the son of William Varner Longworth and Gladys Burkholder Longworth. He was a graduate of the University of Illlinois. He married Katherine Mount in 1938; they celebrated 62 years of marriage on Dec. 18. He was a third generation operator of the Longworth farms and owned the McLean Chevrolet franchise. He founded the McAgPro Hybrid Seed Corn, the Fertilizer Company in McLean and the Corn Belt Finance Company in Bloomington, Ill. He was with the Illinois Department of Financial Institutions prior to retiring.
He and his wife moved to Horseshoe Bend in 1978 where he served on the city council and was an avid golfer at Turkey Mountain Golf Course. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, a life member of the Masonic Lodge of McLean, the Bloomington Consistory and the Mohammed Shrine Temple of Peoria, Ill.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine; two daughters - Linda Chronister of Springfield, Ill., and Brenda Keller of Murphysboro, Ill.; six grandchildren - Wendy Chronister of Chicago, Julie Myers of San Francisco, Amy Chronister of Portland, Ore., Stacie Guido of Champaign, Ill., Rob Koontz of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Blake Koontz of Murphysboro, Ill.; and a great-grandchild, Nathaniel Guido.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Courtney Longworth; and two daughters - Sandra Kay and Carla Verne.
The funeral was Jan. 10 at Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church with Rev. Vaughn Marsden officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in McLean, Ill., at a later date.

Mary Love
Mary Love, 76, of Brookston, Ind., formerly of Hardy, died May 15, 2001, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 23, 1924, in Lowell, Ind., she was the daughter of William and Mary Crawford Roy. She was a former restaurant owner in Lowell, a beautician and a part-time cook at White County Jail in Monticello, Ind. She was a member of Twin Lakes Southern Baptist Church in Monticello.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law Neal E. Roy Sr. and Linda of Brookston; a sister, Annette Hawkins of Rensselear, Ind.; and a sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Jerry Crouch of Demotte, Ind.
The funeral was May 18 at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Ross Terry officiating. Burial followed in Chalmers Community Cemetery in Chalmers, Ind.
Joyce Lowe
Joyce Evelyn Taylor Lowe, 60, of Hardy died Jan. 3, 2002, at White County Medical Center in Searcy.
Born Aug. 8, 1941, in England, Ark., she was the daughter of William McKinley and Dora Bostain Taylor. She was a graduate of Arkansas Public Schools and was a Baptist. Before her retirement she was employed by Land O Frost in Searcy.
Survivors include four sons, – Rick Dangerfield of Searcy, Cary Lowe of Fairfax, Va., Kenny Lowe and Paul Lowe, both of Palm Bay, Fla.; three daughters – Brenda Mize of Hardy, Cecil Taylor of Jacksonville, and Marion Taylor of Garden Grove, Calif.; J. W. Taylor of West Minister, Calif., and Waylon Taylor of Norwalk, Calif.; a sister, Bonnie Hancock of Pearl, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lowe; her parents; and a son, Chuck Lowe.
The funeral was Jan. 6 at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy with the Rev. Lenny Brewer officiating. Burial followed in Henderson Cemetery near Pangburn.
Arrangements were under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.
Barbara J. Luff
Barbara Jean Luff of Ravenden died Feb. 18, 2001, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Campbell of Imboden; a son, Johnny Myers of Pinole, Calif.; a sister, Donna Evans of Ozark Acres; and a brother, Gary Ketchum of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Luff in 1987; a sister; and two brothers.
The funeral was Feb. 20 at the Higginbotham Funeral Chapel in Hardy.
John Martin
John Donald Martin, 73, of Horseshoe Bend died Dec. 29, 2001, at his home.
Born Aug. 27, 1928, at Villa Park, Ill., he was the son of Bernard and Harriet Menge. He was a retired real estate salesman for the Horseshoe Bend Development and Rega Realty at Glencoe. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the VFW and the American Legion at Riceland, La., and was of the Episcopal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy S. Martin; a sister; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers – Bernard Menge Jr. and Leon Menge.
A private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Nora Lee Mays
Nora Lee Mays, 93, of Williford died March 26, 2001, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village.
Born Feb. 5, 1908, in Sharp County, she was the daughter of Herbert and Ann Sanders. She was a homemaker and a member of Spring Lake Baptist Church in Williford.
Survivors include a son, Elmer Haney of Ozark Acres; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was March 29 at Higginbotham Funeral Chapel in Hardy with the Rev. Bryce Armstrong officiating. Burial followed in Williford Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Billy Mack Haney, Stanley Haney and Tracy Haney.
Glady's McClure
Gladys E. McClure, 84, of Hardy died June 20, 2001, at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Nov. 13, 1916, in Hardy, she was the daughter of Sid and Bertha Bevins Burnside. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Royce McClure; four brothers Marvin Burnside of Hoxie, Cecil Burnside of Walnut Ridge, Everett Burnside of Bono, and Clifford Burnside of Conway; a sister, Wilma Walker of Sterling, Ill.; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther McClure, on Feb. 21, 1985; three brothers; and a sister.
The funeral was June 23 at Higginbotham Chapel in Hardy with the Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cherokee Village.
Her nephews were pallbearers.
Inez McFadden
Inez McFadden, 87, of Cherokee Village died May 16, 2001, at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 11, 1913, in Moline, Ill., she was the daughter of Frank Duncan and Kate Blackwell Duncan. She married Leonard McFadden June 11, 1943, in Tucson, Ariz. She moved to Cherokee Village in 1976 from Moline. She attended St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jean Smallin of Burk, Va.; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, and a sister.
The funeral was May 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline, Ill.
Faye McFarland
Faye Catalina McFarland, 83, of West Memphis died Jan. 16 at Beverly Health Care and Rehabilitation in West Memphis.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Infant of Prague Altar Guild.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Kimbrell of Hardy; two sons - Glenn McFarland and Mike McFarland, both of West Memphis; four sisters - Mary Stignani and Marie Shinabery, both of Marked Tree, and Clara Vescovo and Dorothy Barnes, both of West Memphis; a brother, Chester Catalina of Turrell; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. "Laffie" McFarland.
The funeral was Jan. 18 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in West Memphis followed by burial in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.

Harry McKimm
Harry Good McKimm, 83, of Ash Flat died Jan. 27, 2002, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village.
Born Jan. 29, 1918, in Cairo, Ill., he was the son of Harry and Anita Good McKimm. He married Audrey Orr March 11, 1941. They moved to Ash Flat 20 years ago from Austin, Texas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational education and was retired from the U.S. Army after serving 24 years with the rank of CW3. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. After retiring from the military, he taught electronic at Austin Community College in Austin.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William H. McKimm of Mount Ida; and a grandson, Michael Clayton McKimm.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was Jan. 29 at Ash Flat Church of Christ with Keith Gregson officiating. Burial followed in Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat.
Pallbearers were Edward Orr, Bob Orr, Dan Orr Le Roy Orr, Phillip Orr and Mike Nix.

Colon R. McPherson
Colon R. McPherson, 82, of Ash Flat died Nov. 24, 2001, at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born May 9, 1919, in Hardy, he was the son of John Wesley McPherson and Maggie Young McPherson. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
Survivors include two sons – Ray Brett McPherson and Danny Roy McPherson, both of Reyno; and a daughter, Barbara Walker of Hoxie.
A graveside service was Nov. 27 at McCullough Cemetery near Hardy, with the Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County’s Cherokee Chapel in Highland.
Sherron Meurrons
Sherron Meurrons, 55, of Hardy, formerly of Omaha, Neb., died April 23, 2001, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System.
Survivors include a brother, Aubrey Justus of Hutcherson, Kan. and three sisters Eula Mae Wilson of Dowagiac, Mich., Mary Lee Finn of Washington, and Dorothy Friend of California.
The funeral was April 30 at Higginbotham Chapel in Hardy. Burial followed in Buchanan Cemetery.
William B. Morgan
William B. Morgan, 69, of Cherokee Village died Nov. 5, 2000, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born Oct. 14, 1931, in West Union, W. Va., he was the son of William Frank and Mary Jane Cain Morgan. He married Martha Elizabeth Morgan Aug. 22, 1954, in Virginia Beach, Va. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1999. He was retired from the U.S. Army, having served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Spring River Baptist Church.
Survivors include a stepson, Wilburn Don Wiles of Cherokee Village; a daughter-in-law, Virgie Wiles of Cherokee Village; two brothers - Raymond Morgan of Old Town, Fla., and Ernie Morgan of Lost Creek, W. Va.; four sisters - Mary Jo Ash of East Liverpool, Ohio, Judie Murphy of Raleigh, N.C., Becky Murphy of Charleston, Ohio, and Bernice Swiger of West Union, W. Va.; two grandchildren - Donna E. Cole of Lanton, Mo., and Chris A. Pike of Hardy; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kendall Don Wiles, a brother, and a sister.
The funeral was Nov. 9 at Spring River Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery.

Annalee Morris
Annalee Morris, 53, of Ash Flat died Feb. 24, 2001, at her home.
Born Sept. 22, 1947, in Reading, Pa., she was the daughter of Willard and Rosemary Bachman. She lived in Sharp County for 23 years where she has been an accounts payable manager.
She was a member of the National Society of Accountants and a charter member of the Institute for Business, Financial and Estate Planning. She graduated from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers and held four certificates.
She was given the 20th Century Award for achievement in accounting and taxes. In 1995 and 1996 she was selected International Woman of the Year in recognition of her service to others. She was also selected as one of the 2000 Notable American Women.
She was a family historian and had published several books on family histories. She was chosen to be on the Research Board of Advisors of the American Biographical Institute.
She was a superior athlete and an Olympic hopeful until sidelined by an injury. She play softball, both women's and co-ed, until 1999. And she was on teams that played in state competitions almost every year.
She became an advocate on improving education and was a friend of First Lady Barbara Bush. The two worked closely by phone to improve education on the state and federal level.
Survivors include her husband, James Morris; a son, Matt Morris of Ash Flat; a daughter, Angela Kalmus of Ash Flat; her mother, Rosemary Bachman of Highland; a brother, John Bachman of Reading, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
