U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014

Alice E. English
Alice E. English of Land O' Lakes died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. She was 88.
Mrs. English was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Eugene and Cora (nee James) Weber.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Sullivan of Hopkins, Minn.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Inurnment was held and a private family service is planned at a later date.

Lewis E. Bellile
Lewis E. Bellile of Eagle River died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at his home. He was 81.
Inurnment took place and a private family service was held.

Bettie J. Bock
Bettie J. Bock of Holmen died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center. She was 78.
Mrs. Bock was born April 15, 1926, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Albert and Cecelia Pawlak.
She married Edmund Bock Oct. 2, 1948.
The Bocks moved to Eagle River in 1974 and in 1975 opened a Hardee's Restaurant, which they owned until 1992. They moved to Holmen in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband March 25, 2003; her parents; and a brother, Henry.
Ssurvivors include a daughter, Christine (Robert) Behling of South Milwaukee; four sons, Andrew (Kathy) of Cross Plains, Donald (Mary) of Eagle River, James of Onalaska and Mark (Vicki) of Mukwonago; a brother, Leo (Frances) Boczkiewcz of Milwaukee; and 12 grandchildren.
She is further survived by other family and special friends.
A funeral service was held Sept. 2 at St. Elizabeth Ann of Seton Catholic Church in Holmen, with the Rev. Delbert Malin and the Rev. John McHugh officiating.
Burial was held Sept. 3 at Greenmound Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann of Seton Catholic Church building fund or the American Heart Association.

Roger William Foster
Roger William Foster of Phelps died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Aspirus Lillian Kerr Health Care Center in Phelps. He was 84.
Mr. Foster was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Monticello and graduated from Port Washington High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin and received a bachelor of science degree.
Mr. Foster was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Nathale Magee Dec. 22, 1945. She preceded him in death in 1996.
He was employed as a physical education teacher, as well as basketball coach and later, an administrator in the Waukegan, Ill., public school system. After retiring in 1979, the couple moved to Kentuck Lake. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Survivors include two daughters, Gwen (John) Sothman of Junction City and Eileen (Ed) Worley of Marshfield; two sisters, Joan Reindl of Mason City, Iowa, and Audrey (Elmer) Zell of West Bend; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Zoe Foster; a son, Steen Foster; two brothers, Rex Foster and Bob Foster; and a sister, Naomi Fastola.
Services will be Thursday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eagle River Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Anne M. Gregorski
Anne M. Gregorski died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, after a long battle with cancer.
She married Henry Gregorski Oct. 14, 1944. They were longtime residents of Lake County, where they owned and operated Central Lumber in Waukegan, Ill. They retired and relocated to Land O' Lakes in 1984.
Mrs. Gregorski was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eva Niemietz; two brothers, Joseph and Leo; and her husband.
Survivors include a sister, Jean Nage of Waukegan; two nieces; and eight nephews.
Services were held Sept. 4 at St. Albert's Catholic Church in Land O' Lakes.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Center at St. Catherine's Hospital in Kenosha.

Joseph 'Joe' Paznonski Sr.
Joseph “Joe” Paznonski Sr. of Three Lakes died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at his home. He was 72.
Mr. Paznonski was born July 29, 1932, in Plymouth, Pa., the son of Joseph and Mildred Paznonski.
He was in the U.S. Army from March 26, 1951, until April 3, 1954, serving in Germany, Japan and Korea. He was awarded the Occupational Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, a Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medals in March of 1953 and again in April 1954. He was then discharged, but signed on for another term Jan. 26, 1955. He served in Korea. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was discharged April 4, 1956.
He married Louise Dobbs Sept. 16, 1961, in Three Lakes at St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
A resident of Eagle River and Three Lakes for most of his life, he was a mason for many years and also worked at Three Lakes cranberry marshes.
His hobbies included gardening, hunting and watching the Packers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Louise on Jan. 26, 1995; and two sons, Ronald and James, June 10, 2001.
Survivors include five sons, David (Bonnie) of Conover, Joseph Jr. of Rhinelander, John of Three Lakes, Michael Zebrowski of Clearwater Lake and Darrell Dobbs of Milwaukee; two daughters, Margaret (James) Greenman of Eagle River and Edna (Steven) Rhode of Conover; a sister, Eleanor (Ron) Koltello of Pennsylvania; a half-sister, Marie (Leo) Kalinowski of Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River. A funeral service will follow visitation at 7 p.m.
Cremation and burial will be in Three Lakes Cemetery.

Mary Steiner
Mary Steiner of Conover died Wednesday, Sept 1, 2004, at her home. She was 84.
Mrs. Steiner was born May 30, 1920, in Janesville. She was a resident of Conover for many years. She and her husband owned and operated Steiner's Cabins on the Tamarack Flowage in Conover. She enjoyed bingo and was an exceptional housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 2003 and her daughter, Patricia, in 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Winfield of Conover; a son, Les of Conover, three grandsons and six great-grandsons.
Private services and cremation were arranged by Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River.

Elizabeth Wendorf
Elizabeth Wendorf of Eagle River died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Eagle River Memorial Hospital. She was 94.
She was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Milwaukee, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (nee Fasun) Kopushar.
As a young child, she moved to Ljubno, Yugoslavia, returning to the United States at the age of 18.
She married Arnold Wendorf June 6, 1931, in Milwaukee and in 1998 she moved to Sugar Camp.
Mrs. Wendorf was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (August) Bergemann of Sugar Camp; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Sept. 13 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Interment was be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Edith Denton
Edith Denton of Conover died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004. She was 86.
Mrs. Denton was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Dyersville, Iowa, to Martin and Christina (nee Thoeni) Kremer.
She graduated from St. Frances Xavier High School in Dyersville, Iowa, in 1935, and married Glen Denton in 1937.
With her husband, she owned and operated Denton's Sport and Gift Shop in Conover for 34 years.
She was a longtime member of the Conover Evangelical Free Church and was active in the Missionary Circle, Conover Women's Club and the Homemakers Club. Her hobbies included gardening and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons; two sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy “Dee Dee” Adamovich of Eagle River; two sisters, Dorothy Lammers of Dubuque, Iowa, and Marge Botsford of Oceanside, Calif.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at Conover Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
A private burial will take place in Eagle River Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Conover Evangelical Free Church.

Lawrence John Ruffolo
Lawrence John Ruffolo of Phelps died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Lillian Kerr Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Phelps. He was 84.
Mr. Ruffolo was born March 22, 1920, in Kenosha to John and Gelsomina (nee De Rango) Ruffolo.
He attended various schools in Kenosha and served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
In 1942 he married Pearl Perri. She preceded him in death in 1968. In 1969 he married Dorothy Olson.
He was employed by Peterson Sheet Metal in Kenosha. He retired and moved to Phelps in 1979.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 0548 in Phelps. His hobbies included fishing and spending time outdoors.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Peter; a sister, Mary De Luca; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Ruffolo, all of Kenosha.
Survivors include his second wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Lynn Ruffolo and Jo Mary Moore, both of Kenosha; one son, John (Caecellia) of Kenosha; one brother, William of Wauwatosa, who died Friday, Sept. 10; and four grandchildren.
He is further survived by one sister-in-law, Clara Ruffolo, and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Aug. 17 at Kenosha Funeral Services.
Internment was in All Saints Cemetery in Kenosha.

Eugene 'Gene' Kunda
Eugene “Gene” Kunda of Three Lakes died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Taylor Park Nursing Home in Rhinelander. He was 84.
Mr. Kunda was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Milwaukee, the son of Jacob and Katryn Kunda. He married his wife, Lu, Sept. 12, 1942, in Milwaukee. He moved to Three Lakes in 1960.
He served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He worked as a carpet layer in Milwaukee and Three Lakes, most recently at Floor Craft of Eagle River.
Mr. Kunda was an avid baseball fan and played for the Milwaukee Braves Minor League team in Eau Claire. He coached Little League in Three Lakes for four years and built the Gene Kunda Little League Diamond in the Three Lakes park.
His hobbies included bowling and making maple syrup. He was a member of the Three Lakes Lions Club International and the Three Lakes American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Rychlock, in 1984 and his son-in-law, Tom Hageny in 2004.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis Hageny of Tampa, Fla., and Janet (Robert) Rowe of Three Lakes; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Sept. 21 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes with the Rev. William Horath officiating.
Burial was in Three Lakes Cemetery.

John 'Jack' McGregor
John “Jack” McGregor of St. Germain died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at his home. He was 84.
Mr. McGregor was born May 7, 1920, in Evanston, Ill., but was a resident of St. Germain most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. McGregor was the original owner and bartender of McGregor's Blink Bonnie Supper Club and resort in St. Germain.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #248 in Eagle River, the St. Germain Wildlife Club, Big St. Germain Lake Association and a founding member of the Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club. He was an avid supporter of the Alzheimer's Association and Friends of the Plum Lake Library.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy, and one son, Jeff.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; two sons, Jack (Carol) of Clam Lake and James of St. Germain; a stepdaughter, Diane (Robert) West of Tampa, Fla.; a stepson, David (Luann) Nelson of Milwaukee; a brother, Robert of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Jean Seifried of St. Germain; and five grandchildren.
He is further survived by other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at Community United Church of Christ in St. Germain with the Rev. Joel Huenemann officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Community United Church of Christ.

Barbara Jean Musial
Barbara Jean Musial of Watersmeet, Mich., died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at Eagle River Memorial Hospital. She was 63.
She was born Jan. 10, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., where she was raised and attended schools.
Mrs. Musial was employed as a service representative for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for more than 25 years.
She married Kenneth Musial June 1, 1985, in Markham, Ill. The couple moved to Watersmeet, Mich., in 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Czarny and Catherine Mol; two brothers, Alex and John Czarny; and a sister, Julia Buchnat.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Keith Czarny of Watersmeet, Mich.; two brothers, Norbert and Robert Czarny, both of Los Gatos, Calif.; three sisters, Rita (Robert) Pfeiffer of Lynwood, Ill., Holly (Dominic) Tocci of Orland Park, Ill., and Andrea (Robert) Warmus of Greenwood, Ind.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 24, with Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River handling the arrangements.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Land O' Lakes.
