Roy Bise
Roy Lee Bise died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his home. He was 81.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Apison areas, a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Bise; daughter, Brenda Hillery, Plant City, Fla.; sister, Lottie Riddle, East Ridge; four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Plowman Cemetery with the Rev. C.E. Blevins officiating.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
Henry Corley
Henry Dewayne Corley died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 47.
The West Virginia native was a self-employed carpenter and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Leonard Corley Sr., and a brother, Ricky Corley.
Survivors include his mother, Rose Lee Corley, East Ridge; stepdaughters, Geneva Day, Atlanta; brother, John Corley Jr., East Ridge; stepdaughter, Lindsay Wright, Harrison; one grandchild.
The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Gilbert Scott officiating.
Burial will be in Boydston Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alberta Cox
Alberta Davis Cox died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 97.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. George Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Ruth Crabtree
Ruth Mildred Crabtree died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 83.
She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, a former textile employee and a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by a son, William R. Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Nick Crabtree; two daughters, Tammie Davis, Collegedale, and Barbara Ousley, Greenville, S.C.; son, Charles Leroy Smith, Whitwell, Tenn.; sister, Lorene Sullivan, Chattanooga; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. John Andrus officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
Savannah Duckett
Savannah Duckett died Monday, May 8, 2000, in an area life care facility. She was 78.
Graveside services will be today at 3 p.m. at Plowman Cemetery in Apison with the Rev. Ken Trivette officiating.

Raymond Floyd
Raymond Floyd of Soddy-Daisy died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 66.
Mr. Floyd was the owner of Floyd & Sons Cabinet Shop in Soddy-Daisy and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russell D. Floyd.
Survivors include his wife, Syble R. Floyd, Soddy-Daisy; daughter, Joyce Proctor, Newport, Va.; two sons, Jimmy Floyd, Abington, Va., and Donald R. Floyd, Soddy-Daisy; three sisters; four brothers; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Thursday at noon at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. David Henderson officiating.

Doris Goerke
Doris Abercrombie Goerke died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 83.
She was formerly of Lynchburg, Va., a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, and owner and operator of Maxine and Dot's Beauty Salon. She had also been a hairdresser for Lovemans and Picketts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Goerke.
Survivors include a son, James L. Boatner; daughter, JoEtta Smith, Chattanooga; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Champ Agan officiating.

L.C. Hawkins
L.C. "Tinker" Hawkins of Signal Mountain died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 53.
He was a son of the late C.L. Hawkins. He was a welder and a member of Lone Oak Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Dana Harvey; son, Wesley Hawkins; mother, Vergie Hawkins, all of Signal Mountain; three sisters, Betty McCulley, Cleveland, Tenn., Mary Jane Shell, Signal Mountain, and Vickie Pickett, Chattanooga; four brothers, Kenneth Hawkins, Flat Rock, Ala., and Jimmy Ray, Wayne and Jackie Hawkins, all of Signal Mountain.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lone Oak Church of God with the Rev. Harley Morrison officiating.
Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Signal Mountain.
The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

John Franklin McGowan died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 67.
Mr. McGowan retired from Astra Flooring Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Weston, Phelps, N.Y., and Rhonda Eidson; two sons, Michael McGowan, Charleston, Tenn., and Mark McGowan, San Diego; three sisters, Doris Smith, Greenville, Ky., and Ruble McCormick and Stella Curtis, Chattanooga; two brothers, V.L. McGowan, Oceanside, Calif., and Jimmy McGowan, Ringgold, Ga.; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mildred Alene Hosse McVey died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local life care center. She was 78.

Dotti Polly of Hixson died Monday, May 8, 2000, at her home. She was 59.
Mrs. Polly worked at Erlanger Medical Center for the last 25 years in the Anesthesiology Department. She served as an SP-4 with the Women's Army Corps and was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Polly.
Survivors include a stepson, Ronny Polly, Ringgold, Ga., six brothers, Frankie Clemmons, Wilmington, N.C., Bob Clemmons, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., Bo Clemmons, Louisiana, Joe Clemmons, Hixson, and Bookie Rigsby, Daytona Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
