George Campbell
George Summers Campbell, a retired engineer and lifelong Chattanooga area resident, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at his Lookout Mountain home. He was 89.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, on Lookout Mountain.
Visitation will be in the parish hall one hour before the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Hospice of Chattanooga, 165 Hamm Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405.

Hattie Cousby
Hattie Cousby died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 90.
She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother's Board, the choir and other committees.
Survivors include three daughters, Estella C. Moore and Debra McWhorter, both of Chattanooga, and Mary Lloyd, Chicago; son, Tyrone McWhorter, Cincinnati; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Thankful Baptist Church with elder Oscar Lockhart officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after noon today at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
Martha Devlin
Martha H. Devlin died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 66.
She attended Soddy-Daisy United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Devlin, and a son, Carl Lee Devlin.
Survivors include a son, George Devlin, Chattanooga; two daughters, Brenda S. Athens, Dallas, and Renee Crowley, Nashville; two sisters, Jeanette Mazzie, Chattanooga, and Anna Stephens, Chickamauga; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Kidwell officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Rev. Ernest Doggette
The Rev. Ernest Doggette, associate pastor at the Bible Teaching Center, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 66.
He was a graduate of Amarillo (Texas) High School and Apostolic College in Tulsa, Okla. He received a master of theological studies degree from Logos Graduate School in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Rev. Doggette did home missionary work in North and South Dakota and in New York, and foreign missionary work in Brazil for many years.
He pastored churches in New York, Ohio, Texas, and most recently in Chattanooga.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Doggette; four sons, Timothy Doggette, Fort Worth, Steven Doggette, Ravena, N.Y., Nathan and Mark Doggette, both of Chattanooga; daughter, Juliann Rice, Chattanooga; sister, Fae Hayes, Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Vanderwall Funeral Home, Dayton, Tenn., with pastor John Williams and Dr. Mark Hanby officiating.
Burial will be in Rhea Memory Gardens.
Howard Douglas
Howard Douglas died Monday, April 24, 2000, in a local health care facility. He was 44.
Mr. Douglas was a former employee of Tennessee Temple School and was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Howard Douglas Jr., and a brother, Jeffery Douglas.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Douglas; mother, Mary Douglas; sister, Veta McKibbens; two brothers, Steven Douglas and pastor C.L. Douglas; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Balus Smith and the Rev. Dwight Harrison officiating.

Melvin Holliday
Melvin "Doc" Holliday of Red Bank died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 80.
Mr. Holliday was a native of Jones Station, Tenn., and a longtime member of Mountain Creek Church of Christ. He retired from the Mueller Co. after 27 years. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Ina Holliday; son, Michael L. Holliday, Waldorf, Md.; three sisters, Betty Boston, Jean Neal and Elizabeth Shaffer, all of Dunlap, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with minister Eddie Reachard officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Alta J. Howard of Signal Mountain died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 73.
Mrs. Howard was a native of Sand Mountain, Ala., and was a Sunday school teacher at Sand Mountain Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Howard, Signal Mountain; son, James M. Howard, Hixson; daughter, Pamela K. Norris, Penbrook, Fla.; brother, Arval Hunley, Sand Mountain, Ga.; two sisters, Merrell Cordell, Red Bank, and Obera Moore, Huntsville, Ala.; five grandchildren.

Bobby E. "Ralph" Nelson of Hixson died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in a hospital in Cleveland, Tenn. He was 57.
Mr. Nelson lived in Rhea County before moving to Chattanooga in 1965. He was a Baptist and retired from Chattanooga Glass Co. after 20 years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Dillard.
Survivors include his parents, Roland and Margaret Nelson; brother, Elzie "Outys" Nelson, Chattanooga; four daughters, Angela Davis, Ringgold, Ga., Annette Millwood, Signal Mountain, Anita Claridy, Hixson, and Amy Sanders, Dayton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren.

The Whitesburg, Ky., native had been a truck driver for more than 15 years. He was a Baptist and an U.S. Army veteran.
