Rebecca Bacon
Rebecca Arden Bacon died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 59.
Mrs. Bacon was a native of Trion, Ga., and had lived in Chattanooga most of her life. She was co-owner and operator of Bacon and Associates and was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Phil Bacon Sr.; son, Phillip E. Bacon Jr., Chattanooga; daughter, Jill Bacon, London, England; brother, Bill Arden, Chattanooga; two sisters, Jenny Mees, Germany, and Chris Rosenthal, Atlanta; two grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road with the Rev. Thomas Seay officiating.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis.

The Rev. Willie Bonds Jr.
The Rev. Willie Bonds Jr. died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in a local health care facility. He was 72.
Arrangements will be announced by Crombie-Pinkard Funeral Home.

Lester Bowden Jr.
Lester B. Bowden Jr. died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at his home. He was 79.
Arrangements will be announced by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Mary Clark
Mary Ellen Nash Clark died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 101.
Arrangements are by McDonald Funeral Home, Centerville, Tenn.
Burial will be in Harpeth Memorial Gardens, Nashville.

Ben Crox Jr.
Ben M. Crox Jr. died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at his home.
Arrangements will be announced by Fike Funeral Home.

Martha Devlin
Martha H. Devlin died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 66.
The funeral will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Kidwell officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Mae Doudna
Mae Hardcastle Doudna died Friday, April 28, 2000, at the family home in Chattanooga. She was 99.
The funeral and burial will be at Baker Hazel Funeral Home, Dayton, Ohio on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Changed Lives, 1200 Mountain Creek Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405, or Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Jim Douglas
James "Jim" Douglas died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 66.
Mr. Douglas was a Jehovah's Witness.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Douglas, Chattanooga; four sons, Robert D. Smith and Jimmie Douglas, both of Atlanta, Gary and Gregory Douglas, both of Chattanooga; three daughters, Barbara Parks, Annette Benford and Deloris Strickland, all of Chattanooga; four brothers, Fred Douglas, Chattanooga, Clenton Douglas, Flint, Mich., McArthur Douglas, Ypsilanti, Mich., and Edward Douglas, Ann Arbor, Mich; three sisters, Betty McCann, Authurine Douglas, both of Chattanooga, and Belenda Douglas, Ann Arbor, Mich.; 13 grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 1:30 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Gladys Ensey
Gladys Irene Ensey died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 93.
A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. Charles Hyder officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Martin Boyd Christian Center/Home, 6845 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Alton Gordon
Alton C. Gordon died Friday, April 28, 2000, at his home. He was 79.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Beulah Henson
Beulah A. Maxwell Henson died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 88.
Mrs. Henson had lived in the Collegedale area since 1987. She was a member of Ooltewah Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin R. Henson; son, Donald Frank Henson, Collegedale; brother, Harry Maxwell, Melbourne, Fla.; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be today at 4 p.m. at Collegedale Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 735 Broad St., Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Jessie Jones
Jessie B. Jones died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 55.
Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Clifford McGowan
Clifford McGowan died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at his home. He was 80.
Mr. McGowan was a native of Chattanooga.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Allen McGowen; six sons, Steve, Daniel, Nathaniel, Archie and Bennie McGowan, all of Chattanooga, and Bobby Lee McGowan, Detroit.; four daughters, Johnnie M. McGowan, Nashville, Marie and Martha McGowan and Teresa Ray, all of Chattanooga; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Avondale chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Chaney officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today after 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Daw-Chun Miao
Daw-Chun Miao died Friday, April 28, 2000, at his home. He was 61.
A memorial service will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Robert Porter
Robert "Snook" Porter died Friday, April 28, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was 85.
Mr. Porter was a former employee of U.S. Pipe and Foundry.
Survivors include his son, Reginald Rivon, Houston; three daughters, Penney Broome, Sharon Luster, both of Chattanooga, and Jacqueline Harmon, Houston; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The graveside will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery with pastor Eddie Jacks officiating.
The body will be at the Taylor Funeral Home today after noon.

Geraldine Pugh
Geraldine N. Pugh died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in a local hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home.

Harvey Ramey
Harvey Eugene Ramey of Harrison died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at his home. He was 68.
Mr. Ramey was a native of LaFayette, Ga., and had lived in the Chattanooga area most of his life. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert and Billy Doyle Ramey, both of Harrison; four sisters, Diane Wilson, Rossville, Ga., Jo Grant, Betty Hill and Barbara Marshall, all of Harrison.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Fleming and the Rev. Glen Banther officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.

Okla Reel
Okla C. Reel died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at her home. She was 81.
Arrangements will be announced by the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Sandidge
Elizabeth Howard Sandidge died Friday, April 28, 2000, at her home. She was 66.
The funeral will be today at 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Royce Powell officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Ruby Shatzer
Ruby J. Shatzer died Friday, April 28, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 90.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Hazel Bernice Wilson a native of Havre de Grace, Md., died Friday, April 28, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 81.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga and the widow of Francis Garver "Bill" Wilson.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Wilson Miller, Townson, Md.; son, David Leon Wilson, Rockhill, S.C.; two brothers, Donald and Dale Coulter, both of Maryland; three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Richard Young
Richard A. Young died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 49.
A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Reginald Poindexter officiating.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
