Mary Ann Underwood Burnette died Friday, June 23, 2000, at her home. She was 60.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Champion International Paper.
She was preceded in death by her father, Romie Underwood, and her mother, Wealthie Mae Price.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Burnette; sisters, Judy Campbell, Ringgold, Ga., and Sylvia Jean Adams, Chattanooga; and brother, Jerry Alan Underwood, Flagstaff, Ariz.
The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Trivett officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Katherine Byers
Katherine Ellen Akers Byers died Saturday, June 24, 2000. She was 89.
A former resident of Covington, Va., Mrs. Byers was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and previously employed by the Silk Mill and Westvaco. She was also a Girl Scout and 4-H leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Byers; brothers, Jasper and Walter Akers; two sisters, Erna Crawford and Mary Stinespring; and grandsons, Gregory Allan Byers and Bruce Byers.
Survivors include daughter, Mary Ellen Byers Taylor; grandson, Jason Taylor; and granddaughters, Kimberly Taylor Linticum and Mary Katherine Taylor, both of Chattanooga.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Covington with the Rev. John Carrier officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home in Covington.

Nancy Carr Crumley, a longtime resident of Chattanooga, died Friday, June 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 63.

William Davis
William Richard Davis, an Air Force veteran of World War II who retired after 38 years with the U.S. Postal Service, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 76.
Mr. Davis, a longtime resident of Chattanooga, was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church, the E.A.A. and the Georgia Finger Picking Guitar Club.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Eloise Davis; two sons, William R. Davis Jr. and Greg Davis, both of Chattanooga; daughter, Vera Sue Davis, Soddy-Daisy; brother, James D. Cooper, Lake Thonotosassa, Fla.; sister, Aloha Johnson, Ormond Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Jim Gibson officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Lucille Evelyn Gary died Friday, June 23, 2000, at a local hospital. She was 82.
Mrs. Gary was a member of Red Bank Church of Christ and a retired nurse at Erlanger Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Gary.
Survivors include her three daughters, Patricia Doty and Karen Bersebach, both of Hixson, and Elaine Higgins, Red Bank; brother, Carl Gill, Leesburg, Fla.; sister, Elodean Lyon, Phoenix; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and retired from Dixie Yarns after 35 years there. She graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School in 1944.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Evelyn Heffner, and by brother, Ed Heffner.
