She loved bowling until her last days. She was an avid Cubs and Bulls fan, and former secretary of the Austrian Social Club. She passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5 at Lutheran General Hospital. Mrs. Pomper was preceded in death by her son Steven Pomper and her brother Hubert Wirtitsch. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Walter E. Pomper, her son John (Sandra) Pomper, her brothers George Wirtitsch and Lou Wirtitsch, her grandchildren Nicole Pomper, Jesse Pomper, Romana Pomper, Kristel Johnson, and Verena Skinner, and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Pomper.

She was a member of the Elk Grove Board of Health, the Board of Trustees of Alexian Brothers and the Board of Trustees of Northwest Community Hospital. She died on Nov. 26, 2006 at her home. Ms. Bourke is survived by her husband Jack W., her sons John (Lori Brueggemann and the late Kim), Jim (Toni) and David (Trish), daughter Catherine, grandchildren Ryan, Sean, Alec, Claire, Darren, Serena, Annie, and Grace, and brother Dan Murray. He was worked at the Glenview Naval Air Station designing safety and survival equipment for all aviation aspects of the armed forces. He was a WWII and Korean War veteran of the Marine Corp. He was also a die-hard white sox fan. He died on Nov. 22 at his home. Mr. Connery is preceded in death by his wife Penny, his brother William and his sisters Marguerite Burkshire and Frances Lepper. He is survived by his sons Thomas (Kimberly), William (Diane), and Robert (Dawneen), daughters Mary (the late Bill) Linquist, Nancy Connery, Cathy (Jim) Hughes, and Maureen Connery, and his grandchildren Billy (Jenny) Linquist, Leanne (Tom) Furby, Tommy and Colleen Connery, Erin, Lauren, Billy, Connie, Jimmy, Brian Hughes, Shane, Katlyn, Courtney, and Austin Connery, as well as his great-grandchildren Lisa, Holly, Katie, and William. A funeral service for Richard P. Cooper, Sr., 82, of Rolling Meadows will be Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. at Meadows Baptist Church in Rolling Meadows. Rev. Michael Green will officiate. Born Sept. 15, 1924 in Chicago, Dick went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Lexington Healthcare of Schaumburg following a massive stroke and a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Dick grew up in Chicago. He graduated from Senn High School where he excelled in sports and attended Northwestern University. He was an Army Veteran, serving with the 447th engineers in New Guinea during World War II. On Veteran's Day, to his great pleasure, he was honored for his years of service by the first graders of Virginia Lake School in Palatine. For almost 40 years, he worked at the Chicago brokerage firms Stone & Webster, Reynolds, and A.G. Becker, starting in the mailroom and ending up vice president of operations. After retiring from the brokerage business, Dick owned and operated Cooper's Sporting Goods, the dream of his life, from 1983-1993. Dick met his wife Erma in a church youth group at the Chicago Gospel Tabernacle. She was his helpmate and sweetheart through almost 60 years of marriage. Dick loved God and served his church, Meadows Baptist, faithfully in many capacities over the years. In addition to holding positions on the church board, he also sang in musical groups, directed the children's choir, and led the congregational singing. The sound of his beautiful tenor voice filled the air even up to his last days at Lexington Healthcare. He was also a talented athlete, playing football, basketball, and softball until he hung up his spikes at age 60. After that, he coached and managed many church and park district softball teams until his illness took over his life. Dick received numerous athletic honors, chief among them his induction into the Chicago 16" Softball Hall of Fame in 1997. Dick will be sorely missed by his family, friends, co-workers, and caretakers. Although it was difficult to say good-bye to him, we know that we will be reunited with him in heaven someday. Dick's life verses were proverbs 3:5 and 6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path." Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes Cooper, his siblings, Leonard Cooper, Lester Cooper, and Mildred Hammer, his infant son, James Cooper, and many dear friends with whom he is now reunited. He is survived by his wife Erma, his children Nancy (Jim) Glonke, Donald Cooper, Richard (LuAnn) Cooper, Jr., and Ken (Jan) Cooper, and his four grandchildren Jim Glonke, Jenny Glonke, Matt Cooper, and Sarah Cooper. A funeral service for Joseph Fahey, 87, was held on Saturday, Nov. 25, at Our Lady of Hope Church in Rosemont. Along with his brothers, Mr. Fahey helped create the Fahey Medical Center in Des Plaines. Mr. Fahey attended dental school at Loyola University in Chicago, and began practicing as a Lieutenant in the navy. Mr. Fahey was known as a deeply spiritual, intellectual, and philosophical person. He treasured his library that held hundreds of books. He was born on May 15, 1919 in Churchville, West Virginia, and died on Nov. 19 at his home in Park Ridge. Mr. Fahey was survived by his brother Martin (Donna) Fahey, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mary Ellen Fahey, brothers Patrick (late Theresa), George (late Mildred), John (Victora), and Thomas Fahey, and sisters Margaret Fahey, and Mary Fahey. A funeral service for Paul R. Salley, 60, of Elk Grove Village, took place on Monday, Nov. 27 at St. Julian Eymard Church. Visitation was on Sunday, Nov. 26 at Grove Memorial Chapel. Interment
will be at All Saints Cemetery. Mr. Salley was a retired worker of Ameritech and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Elks. He is preceded in death by his sister Katherine Muncy and his grandparents. Mr. Salley is survived by his wife Patricia, children Paul and Robert, parents Raymond and Mary, sister Karol, brother Raymond (Monika) Salamowicz, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Andrew Benjamin Scarnato, 98, of Des Plaines, will be held on Friday, Dec. 1 at 9:30 a.m. from Ryan Parke Funeral Home to St. Paul of the Cross Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum. Mr. Scarnato owned Ladny Motor Service, a tucking company, was a master wine maker, and a tool and die maker. He was also a member and usher at St. Paul of the Cross Church. He passed away on Nov. 25, 2006 at his home. He is preceded in death by his wife Verney M., daughter Mildred (Frank) DiMartino, and siblings Louis and Emma. Mr. Scarnato is survived by his children Mary Ann (the late Simone "Sam") Vivirito, Dolores "Dee" (Gerald) Resnick, and Jennifer (Steven) Fenill, grandchildren Joan, Susan, Michelle, Kimberly, Andrea, Dina, Annette and Anthony, great-grandchildren Angela, Michael, Christina, Amanda, Robert, Michael, Emily, Megan and Michel, expected great-great grandson Benjamin, and siblings Thomas and Ida.

Navy Veteran
A memorial Mass for Joseph W. Wade, 68, took place on Monday, Nov. 27, at St. Theresa Church in Palatine, preceded by a memorial visitation. Internment was at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. Mr. Wade was born on Nov. 28, 1937. He served in the United States Navy and died on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006. His wife Pam; his children Lynne (Michael) Burkeen, Joseph (Elizabeth) Wade III and Michael (Jennifer) Wade; and his grandchildren Matthew, Jensen, Andrew, Joey, Ben, Connor and Madelyn survive him.
