Josephine Walker Carr died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in a local nursing home.
She retired from Signal Thread Co. as an executive secretary. She was a member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church and the widow of Martin Lynn Carr.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronald Ragon officiating.
There will be no visitation at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Ben Burt Chang, a native of Saigon, Vietnam, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 48.
He was an employee of McKee Foods in the shipping department.
He was a son of the late Hiep and Van Banh Truong.
Survivors include his sisters, Clara C. Hwang, Connie C. Chang, and Nfa Truong; two brothers, Nguyen Truong and Charlie Chang, all of Chattanooga.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with pastor Leong Guan Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Florence Drakeford
Florence S. Drakeford died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at her home. She was 80.
Mrs. Drakeford was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church and was active as a teacher, G.A. leader and vacation Bible school teacher. She worked closely with her husband, Gene Drakeford, in bringing East Ridge Community Hospital to a reality.
Survivors other than her husband include her daughters, Gayle Fox and Madeleine Byrd, both of Chattanooga, and Debra Wages, Lubbock, Texas; sister, Flora Mae Renfro, Birmingham, Ala., and a brother, Floyd Stewart, Opeleika, Ala.; six granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.
The funeral will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at East Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell and the Rev. C. Henry Preston officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
William Dunn
William B. "Buddy" Dunn, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at his home. He was 76.
He was a retired truck driver from Yellow Freight System, a Baptist and a member of Woodman of the World Lodge 6.
He was the father of the late Mary Elizabeth Dunn.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice M. Dunn; two sisters, Frances Garner, Rossville, Ga., and Eunice Brown, Hampton, Ga.; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Cape officiating.

He was retried from the Hamilton County Highway Department and was a member of Eklesia Baptist Tabernacle and Harrison Masonic Lodge 114 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Edna McBee Fairbanks; sons, Mark and Billy Joe Fairbanks, both of Ooltewah, Bobby Fairbanks, Chattanooga, Curtis Fairbanks, Soddy-Daisy, Richard Fairbanks, Perth, Australia, and Michael Fairbanks, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; foster son, Eddie Cross, Chattanooga; sisters, Emma Brooks and Frankie Johnson, both of East Ridge, Thelma Blair, Norfolk, Va., and Margie Hutcheson, Cleveland, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He retired from Scholze Tannery after 23 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and was a member of St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Green; two sons, Kevin L. Green, Fort Worth, Texas, and Inman Montgomery III, Chattanooga; daughter, Sandra R. Green, Chattanooga; two brothers, Guy and Herbert Green, both of Chattanooga; two sisters, Mary Bell Calloway and Lu Helen Stewart, both of Chattanooga; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a retired supervisor for McKee Bakery after 24 years. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and fought in the Battle of the Bulge while in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Hawk Wilson.

He lived in Los Angeles prior to moving to Chattanooga 10 years ago.

Faye Elizabeth Pendergrass Kerley of Collegedale died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 70.
She retired from the Lupton City plant of Dixie Yarns after 43 years and was employed by the Samaritan Center in Ooltewah. She attended the Old Fashion Gospel Tabernacle in Cleveland, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Kerley.
Survivors include a son, Alan R. Caraway, Athens, Tenn.; sister, Jewel Hyder, Sale Creek; brother, Howard L. Pendergrass, Hixson; and four grandchildren.

Herschel W. Owens of Ooltewah died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 55.
The Nashville native had lived in Chattanooga for the past 32 years. He retired from Unisys after 35 years of service and was an Air Force veteran.
He was the son of the late Egbert and Jenny Owens and a member of East Brainerd Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Owens; three sons, Jason Owens, Chattanooga, Michael Owens, Nashville, and Danny Owens, Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Bridget Gibson, Red Bank; brother, Dillard Owens, Laverne, Tenn.; two sisters, Marie Weakley, Nashville, and Wanda Royal, Springfield, Tenn.; five grandchildren.
