William "Ed" Bartley died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 74.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with minister Dale P. Lovelady and minister Josh Head officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
Roy Bise
Roy Lee Bise died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his home. He was 81.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Apison areas, a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Bise.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Hillery, Plant City, Fla.; one sister, Lottie Riddle, East Ridge; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. in Plowman Cemetery with the Rev. C.E. Blevins officiating.
Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
Ruth Claiborne
Ruth Carroll Claiborne of East Ridge died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 87.
She was a 48-year member of East Ridge Baptist Church and the GoGetters Sunday School Class. She worked as an alteration lady for Peerless Woolen Mills and for Robert Hall and Tom James.
She was the widow of Ollie John Claiborne.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca A. Farr and Martha R. McDowell, Chickamauga; one son, Glen C. Claiborne, Ringgold, Ga.; two sisters, Kathleen Parks, Nashville, and Mabel Skidmore, Chattanooga; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Long officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Bonnie McNabb
Bonnie Bolton McNabb died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at her home. She was 67.
She and her late husband, Clifford L. "Tip" McNabb, were the former owners of McNabb Mobile Home Park for 35 years.
A lifelong resident of Lookout Valley, she attended the Church of God, was the retired manager of Broad Street Drive-In Theater and worked at Rivoli Mills for five years.
She was the mother of the late Charles Lee McNabb.
Survivors include her mother, Mimmie Jackson, Bolton, Ga.; one daughter, Ann McNabb, Chattanooga; two sons, Alvin and Lamar McNabb, Chattanooga; three sisters, Ethel Cody and Judy Jones, Trenton, and Sue Lingerfelt, Rossville, Ga.; six brothers, Paul, Duvall, John and James Bolton, all of Trenton, Ga., and Reece and William Bolton, Chattanooga; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 2:30 p.m. at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Mile Williams and the Rev. Lloyd McGee officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.

Mildred Alene Hosse McVey died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local life care center. She was 78.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. CDT at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Nashville.

Virginia S. Payne died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 72.
A native of LaFayette, Ga., she was a graduate of Hill High School and a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church of Chattanooga.
Survivors include three daughters, Gayle Davenport, Mississippi, Vicki Payne and Rhonda Blache; two sons, the Rev. Stanley Payne and Eric Payne; one brother, Robert Suttle; three sisters, Bessie Hinton, Catherine Williams and Marlene Allen; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at noon at Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul McDaniel and other ministers officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Dotti Polly of Hixson died Monday, May 8, 2000, at her home. She was 59.
Mrs. Polly worked at Erlanger Medical Center for the last 25 years in the Anesthesiology Department. She served as an SP-4 with the Women's Army Corps and was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Polly, and her parents, James F. Clemons and Virginia Braswell Rigsby.
Survivors include a stepson, Ronnie Polly, Ringgold, Ga.; six brothers, Frankie Clemmons, Wilmington, N.C., Bob Clemmons, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., Bo Clemmons, Louisiana, Joe Clemmons, Hixson, Bookie Rigsby, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Johnny Rigsby, Chattanooga; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Ogg and the Rev. Terry Evans officiating.

Nellie Redden of the Mowbray Mountain community died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in a local health care facility.
She attended Mowbray Church of God and was retired from Nations Hosiery Mills.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Redden.
Survivors include her four children, Dorothy Redden, Chattanooga, Laura Warren, Nashville, Leland Redden, Soddy-Daisy, and Tommy Lewis, Hixson; and two sisters, Dorothy Patterson, Soddy-Daisy, and Mary Emma Lewis, Hixson.

He was a Baptist and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Sloan, Whitwell, Tenn., and Gary Arnold Sloan, Signal Mountain; two sisters, Betty Lusk, Dayton, Tenn., and Cauline Wolfe, Harrison, Tenn.; one brother, Edward Sloan Jr., Signal Mountain; nieces and nephews.
