Edward D. Tolley
Edward D. Tolley, 69 of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Plano.
He was born July 6, 1932, in Goldsboro, S.C., the son of Walter Felix and Berla Edith Pugh Tolley.
He was one of God’s good ones and loved his whole family.
He was a member of the Carrollton Nazarene Church. Funeral services will be held Friday in Carrollton with Rev. Matthew Rice officiating.
There will be a 3:30 p.m. committal service following at Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Family visitation will be held Thursday evening at Metrocrest Funeral Home in Carrollton from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mr. Tolley is survived by his wife, Barbara Tolley of Dallas; three sons, Ed Tolley Jr. and his wife Vicki of Frisco, Brad Dudley and his wife Jill of Plano and Barry Dudley and his wife Jayne of Coppell; three daughters, Debbie Wilson and her husband Bob of West Palm Beach, Fla., Brenda Porter and her husband Richard of Dallas and Diann Seekell and her husband Jim of Naples, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Tolley of Charleston, S.C., and George Tolley of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers-in-law, Richard Rymer of Southbend, Ind., and Wyndel Cummins of Jacksonville; former spouse, Betty Tolley of Naples, Fla.; and mother-in-law, Una Belle Cummins of Jacksonville.
He is also survived by a host of other extended family members and close friends.

Services for Annie Laura Bernard, 76, of Cuney will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rock Hill Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Rock Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Bernard died Monday in Jacksonville.
She was born April 11, 1926, in Cuney and attended Cuney public school.
She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors are her brother, Kenneth Ray Johnson of Cuney; and sisters, Willie Mae Hearne, Ruth Johnson and Ruby Morris, all of Dallas, and Mrs. Eddie Burns and Annie Walker, both of Houston.
Pallbearers will be Houston Morris, John Walker, Gregory Walker, Charles Jones, Agentry Morris and Kenneth Hall.
Honorary pallbearers include the deacons of Rock Hill Baptist Church.

Dossie Gillian Christopher
Services for Dossie Gillian Christopher, 88, of Jacksonville will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pennell Chapel CME Church. The Revs. Robert Christopher, Roger Hunter, Charles Hill and H.C. Whitaker will officiate.
Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Community Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Christopher died Tuesday at her residence. She was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Jacksonville. She was a lifelong resident and attended Pine Grove School. She was a housewife and a member of Pennell Chapel CME Church.
Mrs. Christopher was preceded in death by her husband; son, Lonnie Landom; and daughter, Jessie Clemons.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Boyd of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scottie Davis, Howard Fuller Jr., Ricky Fuller, Cedric Hill, Keith Fuller and Travis Porter Jr. Honorary pallbearers include William Tilley, George Mosley, George Boyd, Jimmy Mosley and Brian Davis.

John C. ‘J.C’ Crear
Services for John C. “J.C” Crear, 70, of Frankston will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church. The Revs. Gary Carter and Lonnie Ross will officiate.

Mr. Crear died Sunday at a Tyler hospital.
He was born April 8, 1932, in Frankston. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School and attended Prairie View A&M University.
He retired from Cotter Hardware Co. in Dallas and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Mr. Crear was preceded in death by his son, Rex Crear; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Crear; and two brothers. He is survived by his daughters, La Nana Valencia Crear and Hermila La Vet Crear, both of Dallas and Michele Crear of Vallejo, Calif.; brother, Joe Crear of Frankston; uncle, R.E. Pierson of Frankston; aunt, Mrs. Elvie Ewell of Frankston; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be J.C. Miller, Tony Hall, Oscar Burks, Joe Reed, Chester Bowen and Lubbarb Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Mr. Trotter died Sunday in Houston. He was born April 13, 1940, in Jacksonville. He was a former stock car driver and track official at various South Texas tracks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Trotter. Mrs. Wilson died Tuesday in Tyler. She was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Elkhart. She had worked at Powells’ Plant Farm in New Summerfield and had been a machine operator at Nichols-Kusan and Snoke’s Special Products, both in Jacksonville. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Mixon.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Wilson of Jacksonville; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Carolyn Wilson of Troup and James and Anita Wilson of Maydelle; daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Ronnie Odom of Jacksonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Virginia Munsinger and Curtis Munsinger, all of Jacksonville, Donald and Judy Munsinger of Palestine and Billy Munsinger of Pennsylvania; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Sherman Williams of Whitehouse, Charlsey and Frank Jakibuk of Troup and Virginia and David Woodall of Ore City; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Eloise Sherman Fitts
Graveside services for Eloise Sherman Fitts, 88, of Rusk were at 4 p.m. today at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Rusk.
The Rev. Don Copeland officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mrs. Fitts died Sunday at her residence. She was born Nov. 16, 1913, in Rusk. She had been a resident of Rusk most of her life. She was a retired federal government clerk and was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and volunteered at the V.A. hospital and at a Jacksonville hospital. She also crocheted hundreds of afghans for veterans.
Mrs. Fitts was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nina Sherman; brother, Ray Sherman and husband, James Fitts.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Cassidy of Houston and Darlene Simpson of Dallas; grandchildren, Patrick and Wife Laura Haynes and Lisa Higgins, all of Houston; great-grandchildren, Dillon Higgins, Nicole and Alexandra Cassidy and Parker and Sterling Haynes, all of Houston; special friend, Harry Wells of Houston; and numerous cousins and loved ones.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Jim and Marie Mehner and Bro. Don Copeland for their kindness over the years. We also want to express our heartfelt gratitude and love to Teresa, Jerry and Amber Turner whose love, caring and friendship made these last three years at home possible for Mrs. Fitts.

Alice Irene ‘Big Mama’ Langham
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Irene “Big Mama” Langham, age 98, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Renfro Memorial Chapel at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with the Rev. Jimmy Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, under direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Langham was born July 25, 1904, in Jacksonville, Texas, and had resided in this area all of her life. She had worked in the nursing profession and was a Methodist.
Mrs. Langham was preceded in death by her husband, James Odell Langham; two sons, Horace Fuller Langham and Morris Kenneth Langham; one daughter, Mary Ann Nolley; and a great-great-granddaughter, Tara Allison Bailey.
Mrs. Langham is survived by her sister, Jewel Williams of Jacksonville; daughters-in-law, Joyce Langham of Pine Hill and Anna Rose Langham of Jacksonville; son-in-law, Charles Nolley of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren, Ken and Lynda Langham, Mark and Vicki Langham, David and Melissa Langham, Pat and Blake Donald, Morris Wayne Langham, Naomi and Steve Westbrook, James Langham, John and Dusty Langham, Arlene Langham, Greg Nolley and Dane Nolley; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavell Davis; son, Michael Davis; and parents, Gerald and Hazel Kite.
She is survived by her sons, Danny and Mark Davis, both of Scroggins; daughters, Dina Hayes of Bullard and Anita McElfresh of Springfield, Wash.; brothers, Gerald Kite of Jacksonville and Jackie Kite of North Carolina; sisters, Shirley Hendrix and Jean Kite, both of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Jason Alan Adams, 21, of Mixon were held at 10 a.m. today at the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel in Troup. The Rev. Lester Foreman officiated.
Burial was at Mixon Cemetery in Mixon.
Mr. Adams died Saturday in Henderson.
He was born June 17, 1981, in Galveston to Rusty and the late Sheila Adams.
He lived most of his life in the Troup area and attended Troup High School.
He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Troy Adams and grandmother, Vonnie Adams.
He is survived by his wife of two years, Jamie Lynn Adams of Troup; son, Sean Adams of Troup; parents, Rusty and Corliss Adams of Troup; brother, Lance Adams of Troup; sisters, Ashley Adams of Troup and Tiffiney McMakin of Jacksonville; grandparents, Carroll Adams of Houston and Doyle and Glenda Melton of Troup; great-grandmothers, Pauline Adams of Jacksonville and Violet Keck of White Oak.

Elder Brown died Tuesday at his residence. He was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Leon County. He was a resident of the area for 47 years. He was retired from Nan Travis Hospital and was the pastor of White’s Temple COGIC in Jacksonville and was a member of the Jacksonville Ministerial Alliance and a member of HOPE Inc.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Jimmy Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Bennie Faye Brown of Jacksonville; sons, Thomas Brown, Jimmy Brown, C.C. Brown, Daniel Ray Brown, Jay Brown and Sam Brown; daughters, Peggy Davis, Virginia Ann Brown, Carolyn Berry, Gwendolyn Warren and Bennie Jean Brown; brothers, Robert Brown Sr., Bobby Brown and Robert Brown Jr.; 21 grandchildren; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Braxton Brown, Keith Thompson, Keana Brown, Bruce Brown, Corey Brown, Terrance Cox, Henry Cox and Gregory Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be ministers.

Glen Dale James

Mr. James died Wednesday at a Tyler hospital.
He was born March 22, 1928, in Hammond, Okla. He was retired as owner of Oilfield Service Co. in Aransas Pass. He also served in the U.S. Army as specialist third class. He moved to Frankston in 1998 and was a Baptist.
Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, G.C. and Nellie James and sons, Glen Calvin and Curtis Ashley James.
Survivors include his wife, Norma H.
