Services for Fay Daniel, 69, of Maydelle will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Clifford Taylor and the Rev. Waymon P. Claiborne officiating.
Burial will be at Earle’s Chapel Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Daniel died at her residence in Maydelle on Sunday. She was born March 27, 1933, in Paris and was the oldest child of Edgar Ernest Goodman and Beulah Goodman Huff.
Mrs. Daniel was a member of Golden Harvest Church of God Church in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Parker’s Rangers Historical Club, the Anderson County Chapter of American Red Cross and the Cherokee County Foster Parents Association. She lived in the Jacksonville/Maydelle area for 43 years.
Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Goodman and Beulah Goodman Huff; and brothers, Troy and Roy Goodman and George Edgar Goodman of Dallas.
Mrs. Daniel is survived by her husband, James Lavoy Daniel Sr.; sons and daughter-in-law, James Lavoy and Susan Daniel of Payson, Ariz. and Robert Cook Daniel of Maydelle; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianna and Waymon Claiborne of Jacksonville, Valerie Chancellor of Lufkin and Wanda and David White of Waxahachie; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four nieces.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Chancelor, David White and D.J. Lindsey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anderson County Chapter of the American Red Cross or Golden Harvest Church of God Church in Jacksonville.

Mr. Fisher died Saturday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 14, 1941, in Cabin Creek, W. Va. to the late Charles Edward Fisher Sr. and Martha Alice Reese Fisher.
He had lived in Anderson County for 13 years.
He attended the University of Albuquerque and Northwestern University.
He had been a West Virginia State Trooper and retired with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
He was a Baptist, and taught, held seminars and preached in Baptist churches across Texas and Arkansas.
He was a member of the 82nd Air Borne Division of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Fisher of Elkhart; sons, Eric Fisher, Mark Fisher, Randy Metzger, all of Elkhart and Scott Fisher of West Virginia; daughters, Kimberly Cooper of Elkhart, Kristi Follett of Elkhart and Dee Fisher of West Virginia; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Eric Fisher, Mark Fisher, Randy Metzger, Daniel Cooper, Robert Follett and Scott Johnson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honor of Mary Elba Brown at First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville on Saturday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. Her remarkable life began on November 22, 1924, and ended after a brief illness on May 21, 2002. Mary Elba was a life long resident of Jacksonville and a music graduate of Baylor University in 1946. She did her post graduate work at Northwestern University in Chicago and taught music at East Texas Baptist College. She taught private piano lessons for over 40 years that spanned two generations of several hundred children. Over the years she taught the children’s choir and began the Handbell Choir at the Methodist Church she so loved. She played the piano at the Jacksonville Rotary Club since 1961. Her impressive musical career filled her life with song and joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Elba Kent Holman and Wade Wilson Holman and her beloved brother, Wade Kent Holman.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband of 48 years, J.E. Brown of Jacksonville; her daughters, Charlotte Admire and Carolyn Karabinos and five grandchildren, James (15), Kyle (13), and Mary Caroline Admire (5), Audra (4) and Ingrid (1) Karabinos, all of Dallas, and her son-in-law, Andrew Karabinos.
Mary Elba’s love was her family and her music and her many special friends. She has two brothers, James Holman, MD of Dallas, Luman Holman of Jacksonville and a special niece, Marie Fitzgerald, MD of Colleyville.
Her family will miss this great lady dearly, but know she is in God’s grace. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts be made to the music ministry of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville

Services for Tommye Stringfield, 92, of Poynor were Sunday at Poynor Baptist Church with Brother Jeff Goodwin officiating.
Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery in Henderson under direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stringfield died Thursday in Poynor. She was born Aug. 2, 1909 in Rusk to Mamie Fain Andrews and John Andrews. She attended Rusk schools and was president of the last graduating class from Rusk College before the college closed during the Great Depression.
She signed her first teaching contract at age 18 and later received her bachelor’s degree from San Marcos College. Stringfield taught first grade most of her career before retiring in 1972.
She taught in Iron Hill, Neches, LaPoynor, Mount Vernon and Springhill. She was a former secretary and treasurer for the Poynor City Council since the city was incorporated in 1973. The Poynor City Park was dedicated in her honor.
Stringfield served as Sunday school teacher at Poynor Baptist Church and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Texas State Teachers Association and the Texas Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, George Tipton Sr. and Leon Stringfield.
Survivors include a sister, Judith Adams of Paris; a nephew, Dan Johnson of Kingwood; and nieces, Karen Adams and Karol Assay, both of Paris, Gladys Allen of Beaumont and Bobbye Brethouwer of Alto.
Pallbearers were Dennis Clayton, Paul Elliott, Kevin Lyons, Richard Holcomb, Alton Gracey and Wendell Stringfield.
