Walter Arthur Beckett, 67, of Point Pleasant died March 15, 1999, in Memorial Division, CAMC.
He was a retired installer from Scott Interiors in North Carolina.
Surviving: companion, Sue King; son, John Allen Beckett of Lawton, Okla.; sisters, Emma Beaver of Hurricane, Wanda Robertson of Proctorville, Patricia Roof of Kankakee, Ill.; brother, Bill Beckett of Hurricane; two grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 20, 1999 in Veterans Memorial Garden, Hampton, Va. Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant was in charge of arrangements.
Jimmie Franklin Black
Jimmie Franklin Black, age 61, of Hurricane, WV, died June 24, 1999, from injuries received from an aircraft accident. He was a lifelong resident of Hurricane, a member of HHS class of ’57, co-owner and operator of Black’s Sunoco, Hurricane, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Hurricane. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Smith Black; two sons, James Robert Black and Joseph A. Black, both of Hurricane; two daughters, Lisa Craddock and Jaclyn Black, both of Hurricane; his father, Frankie Black of Hurricane; one brother, Jackie Black of Hurricane; and three grandchildren, Jenna Craddock, Ryan Craddock and Jimmie Franklin Black, all of Hurricane.
Funeral service were held Saturday, June 26, 1999 at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church with ministers the Rev. Paul Spence, the Rev. Jack Fellure and Mr. Jim McGehee. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.
Ronald Brown
Ronald Brown, 88, of Eleanor died January 3, 1999, in Putnam General Hospital after a long illness.
He was a retired construction foreman.
Surviving: wife, Emogene Brown; daughters, Marguerite Angelo of Tampa, Florida, Marlene Egnor of Eleanor, and Marioan Pond of Sayer, Pennsylvania; brother, Robert of Midway; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Service was held at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with minister Joseph Moles officiating. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Gladys R. Blount
Gladys R. Blount. 73, of Nitro died January 20, 1999, in General Division, CAMC, after a short illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Putnam County and a member of Hometown Senior Citizens and Rock Branch Independent Church.
Surviving: daughter, Sharon R. Parkins of Nitro; sister, Garnette H. Knicely of Flatwoods; granddaughter, Lisa Hechesky of Nitro.
Service was held at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens Chapel, Red House, with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial was in the memorial gardens. Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.
Myrtle Ball Browning
Myrtle Ball Browning, 94, of Hurricane died January 25, 1999, in Putnam General Hospital.
She was a member of Greenview Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving: daughters, Lena Johnston of Indianapolis and Martha Carroll of Hurricane; sons, Kenneth Ball of Low Gap and Silman Ball of Easley, South Carolina; sisters, Vernie Berry of Danville and Della Miller of Turtle Creek; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Service was held at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Frank Frye and the Rev. Bill Price officiating. Burial was in Pauley Cemetery, Greenview.
James E. Boone
James Edward Boone, 64, of Hurricane died January 29, 1999, at home after a long illness.
He was a retired operating engineer for Local #132, a member of Dunbar Lodge 159, York Rite Mason and Beni Kedem Shrine. He was an Army veteran.

Eliza Rayburn Badgley
Eliza Virginia Rayburn Badgley, 83, of Eleanor, formerly of Mason, died February 8, 1999, in Putnam General Hospital after a short illness.
She was a homemaker, a Christian and a former caregiver.

Thomas Byus
Thomas “Tommy” Byus, 43, of Hurricane died July 13, 1999, at home after a long illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Putnam County, former owner/operator of Montgomery Tank Lines, Institute, and a member of Adda Baptist Church, Hurricane.
Surviving: wife, Cindy Byus; son, Michael Byus of Winfield; mother, Alma Call Byus of Winfield; sisters, Shirley “Madge” Thacker of Hurricane and Ruth Ann Maynard of Winfield; brothers, Ronnie Byus and Donnie Byus of Winfield, and John Hodges of Hurricane.

Clinton C. Chapman
Clinton C. Chapman, 86, of Fraziers Bottom died December 3, 1999, in Valley Health Village, South Charleston, after a short illness.
He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Winfield Church of Christ, and a retired line foreman from Huntington Alloys with 40 years' service. He was a former member and elder of Norway Avenue Church of Christ, Huntington. He was a native of Hurricane, a 40-year resident of Huntington and a 20-year resident of Fraziers Bottom.
Surviving: wife, Genevieve Phelps Chapman; daughters, Janice Mooney of St. Albans and Sara Cordero of Sunrise, Florida; sons, Randall Chapman of Winchester, Virginia and Steven Chapman of Streetsboro, Ohio; sisters, Reba Forth of Milton, Marina Runyon of Huntington and Freda Gibson of Hurricane; brother, Woodrow Chapman of milton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Service was held December 7, 1999 at Winfield Church of Christ with minister Randall Chapman, minister Steven Chapman and minister George Erwin officiating. Entombment was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.

John Leslie Cole, 90, of Hurricane, formerly of Spanishburg, died December 12, 1999, at home.
He was retired from WV Department of Highways, a member of Spanishburg United Methodist Church, Spanishburg Ruritan Club and Spanishburg Farm Bureau.

June Carol Coyner
June Carol Coyner, 50, of Poca died November 12, 1999, in Women and Children's Hospital, CAMC, after a short illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Poca and an employee of Ames department store, Teays Valley. She was a susbstitute custodian for the Putnam County Board of Education and a former employee of Union Carbide, Institute. She was a member of Raymond City Community Church.
Surviving: daughters, Rena Coyner and Renee Coyner, both at home; mother, Mary Milbee Erwin of Poca; sister, Sandra McLane of Red House; brother, Herbert Erwin of Teays Valley; several nieces and nephews.
Service was held November 15, 1999 at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with Pastor Floyd Holmes officiating. Burial was in Lilly Cemetery, Poca.
Imogene McCallister
Imogene McCallister, 70, of Scott Depot died November 12, 1999, in Putnam General Hospital after a long illness.
She was a homemaker and a member of Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene and the Preventive Care Group, Hurricane. She was a lifelong resident of Scott Depot.
