She was a member of First Baptist Church, St. Albans, a graduate of St. Albans High School and a former nurse with Olsten Health Services. Survivors include her husband, J. Allen Albert “Skeets” Brown Jr., 59, of Milton died Saturday, March 25, 2000 in Charleston Area Medical Center. He was retired from Inco Alloys International. Survivors include his mother, Ann Ann Clinton Brown Hamilton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, David Brown of Salem, WV one daughter, Kimberly Brown of Bowling Green, Ky.; and one sister, Helen Hurlbert of St. Petersburg, Fla. Mark Anthony Chapman
Mark Anthony Chapman, 41, of Huntington, died Saturday, March 25, 2000 as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Mar. 27 at Heck Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Mobley officiating. Burial in Maddox-Swann Cemetery, Lincoln County, WV. He was born Oct. 6, 1958 in Milton, WV. He was an employee with the Huntington State Hospital and was a veteran of the United States Naval Reserve. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #2. He was also a member of Sons of the American Legion, Milton. He is survived by two sons, David Michael and Mason Allen Chapman, both of Barboursville; his parents, Johnny Chapman of Milton and Wilma Stratton Chapman of Huntington; three brothers, Jack Chapman of Chesapeake, OH; Randy and Rick Chapman both of Huntington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alva Henry
Alva Henry, 86, of Lesage, WV, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Mar. 25, 2000 in Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Mar. 28 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Max Spurlock officiating. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery, Lesage. Alva was born in Cabell Co. on Oct. 5, 1913. He was a son of the late Emzy and Ulva Massie Henry. Alva was also preceded in death on Nov. 24, 1984 by his wife, Mae Weekly Henry. He attended Cremeans Chapel retired from Huntington Alloys with 23 years of service and was a farmer. Alva is survived by three daughters, Deborah and Terry Blake of Ona, Sonya Hall and Jim Brown of Lavalette and Joyce and Butch Parsons of West Columbia, WV; four sons, David and Helen Henry and Ronnie and Phyllis Henry, all of Lesage, Alva “Bud” Henry Jr. of Miller, OH and Howard L. and Diane Henry of Genoa, WV; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorrena Hall of Catlettsburg, KY and Sylvia Thomas of Proctorville, OH; and one brother, Otha Henry of Lesage. The pallbearers were Tracy Blake, Hershel Henry, Russell Henry, Danny McComas, Howard Henry, II, Brian Freeman, Garry Ramey and Randy Evans. Martha Lucas, 81, of Culloden died Thursday, March 23, 2000 at home. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, Chester C. Lucas of Portland, Tenn., Bobby G. Lucas of Roopville, Ga., and Sammy J. Lucas of Culloden; and two daughters, Rose M. Popham and Shirley M. Bias, both of Culloden. Claude E. Chapman
Claude E. Chapman, 33rd Degree Mason, 73, of Milton, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 25 at Heck Funeral Home with the Rev. Verlin Vititoe officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Vernon and Ora Marie Sovine Chapman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William H. and Ernest L. Chapman. He was a retired finisher for Blenko Glass. He was a member and present and past Master of Lebanon Lodge 68 AF & AM, Milton. He was a member of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, 33rd Degree. He was a member of York Rite Chapter #10, Guyandotte and York Rite College Chapter 137. He was a member of the Knights Templar Commandery #009, Huntington; Beni Kedem Temple, Charleston; Huntington Shrine Club; Royal Order of Jesters, Charleston; Faithful Forty Club: Royal Order of Scotland; and Order of Eastern Star, Milton Chapter 149. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. He was Grand Junior Deacon of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia who provided Masonic Rites during the funeral service. Scottish rites were performed during visiting hours. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen Nichols Chapman; one son and daughter-in-law, Evert and Dianna Chapman of Hurricane; two daughters, Jo Ellen Dean of Pinch and Deborah Chapman of South Charleston; a sister, Mrs. Hazel M. Gibson of Milton; a brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie E. “Gene” and Margaret Chapman of Culloden; and two granddaughters, Hillary Lynn Dean and Carly Jo Dean. She was born Sept. 19, 1904, in Henlawson, W.Va., a daughter of the late Mitchell and Serilda Price Hale. She was a member of Merritts Creek Church of Christ. Homer Lee Estes, 91, of Hurricane died March 20, 2000, in Wilson's Personal Care Home after a long illness.
He was owner of Homer L. Estes Building Contractor with 40 years' service, a member of Hurricane Church of the Nazarene and a lifelong resident of Putnam County.
Surviving: son, John W. “Jay” Estes of Hurricane; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Oscar C. McCallister
Oscar C. McCallister, 90, of Winfield died March 20, 2000, in Putnam General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born August 8, 1909 at Apple Grove, Mason County, the son of the late C.A. McCallister and Ella Dailey McCallister of Mason and Putnam Counties. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Devotah Dent McCallister in 1993; brothers, Floyd in 1945, W.P. “Pete” in 1985 and William W. in 1990; sisters, Ora Johnson in 1967, Virginia Carney in 1975 and mae McQuain in 1994.
He was a retired blacksmith from Union Carbide, South Charleston. He had been a farmer earlier in his life. He was a member of Nitro Masonic Lodge 170 and Judson Baptist Church, Winfield, where he served on the Trustee Board.
Surviving: daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Allan Casto of Scott Depot; brothers, Myron R. and Woodrow M., both of Scott Depot, and Fred D. of Southside; sisters, Marie Terry of Winfield and Pansy Wheless of Nashville, Georgia; two grandsons, Zach and Micah Casto of Scott Depot.

Ethel V. Stephenson, 79, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of St. Albans and Winfield, died March 20, 2000, at her daughter's residence after a long illness.
She was a homemaker and a former employee of Kmart. She was a Christian and attended Winfield Community Church.

James J. Arnold, 61, of Nitro died March 21, 2000, in Thomas Memorial Hospital, after a sudden illness.
He was a sales manager for Service Office Supply, a former sales representative for Pitney Bowes and former owner of Tech Graphics, South Charleston. He was a member of Nitro Zoning Board of Appeals and Rock Branch Independent Church.
Surviving: wife, Sandy Rowh Arnold; sisters, Linda S. Richardson of Nitro and Barbara Canterbury of Summersville.
