Elmer H. Daniel
Elmer H. Daniel, 79, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Saturday, May 20, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Dr. Terrell Bradley. Entombment in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born June 20, 1920, in McDowell County, a son of the late John Wesley and Alma Pearl Dyer Daniel. He was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and the U.S. Navy Reserve, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Georgia, Reece, Virgil, Cecil and Herman Daniel. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mae Carroll Daniel; one daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Kelly Breedlove of Richmond, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Wesleigh and Rose Daniel of Barboursville; one brother and sister-in-law, Dorsey and Debbie Daniel of Barboursville; and two grandsons, John and Eric Daniel; many loving nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and friends; a special brother-in-law, James Hardaway and a sister-in-law, Viola Trammell, both of Chesterfield, Va. Burial in Curry Chapel Cemetery. She was born October 11, 1926, in Hamlin, W.Va., a daughter of the late Chancey and Suzie Galloway Dillon. She was a member of Merritts Creek Church of Christ. Mrs. Audrey O. Johnson, 70, of Milton, WV went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 20, 2000 at her home. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 23 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Jackie D. Clark and Rev. Tex Nance officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Audrey was born in Huntington on April 9, 1930. She was a daughter of the late Benjamine A. and Pearl L. Swann Burton. Audrey was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ataloa Collins and Freda Finley and brothers, Earl M. and Lewis Garrett Burton and on July 24, 1994 by her husband, Bennett T. “Sonny” Johnson, Sr. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church, Milton and a homemaker. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Brent Chapman of Ona and Sue and Johnny Mount of Glenwood; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Emmett and Connie Johnson, Talmadge and Vivian Johnson, Roger Johnson, Ronnie Johnson and Ricky and special daughter-in-law, Mitzi Johnson all of Milton; fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Junior Wirt “Mack” McCallister, 78, of Ona, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his residence. He was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Elba E. and Lula (Keenan) McCallister. He was also preceded in his death by two brothers, Cledith and Lonnie McCallister; and one sister, Alta Rose Yeager. Mack was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church and former trustee. He was a retired merchant and farmer. He was owner and operator of Mack's Foodking, Ona. She was born March 31, 1913, in Salt Rock a daughter of the late Elmer and June McComas Gill. She was a member of Bethlehem United Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Nida, thrree sisters, Lovie Jobe, Belva Jobe and Nellie Gill, and two brothers, Lonnie Gill and William O. “Deddie” Gill. Eulah C. White Conrad, 84, of Milton, W.Va, departed this life Monday, May 22, 2000, at the home of a daughter, Shelba Ketchum of Hurricane. Eulah was born in Cabell Co. on Oct. 18,1915. She was a daughter of the late William P. and Suzanne E. Taylor White. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Namie Koontz and Hazel White, brothers, Eschol, Jennings, Ozie and William “Pinky” White, and on Feb. 9, 1992, by her husband of 55 years, Harry Othal Conrad. Survivors include daughters Yvonne Bias of Huntington and Shelba Ketchum of Hurricane; sons Don W. Kathleen Duffer
Kathleen Duffer, died in the arms of her savior May 21, 2000. She was a devoted housewife and mother. Born in Milton, W.Va., November 18,1929, she relocated to Columbus in 1952. She was saved in 1948 and dedicated her life to the Lord. She always witnessed for the Lord, whether to a stranger, friend or family members to be saved before it's too late. She lived her testimony until the Lord called her home. Member of Little Bell Baptist Church. A loving wife for over 49 years to Joe Duffer until the Lord called him home in 1996. Also preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Sylvia Hinkle and son Roger Duffer; and sisters Reba Young and Ada Karr. A loving mother to her daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Parsley, JoAnn (David) Stevens and Bonnie (Jeffrey) Justice, and will be remembered as a loving grandmother to Amy, Nicole, Faith, David Joe and Katelyn; great grandson Troy; brothers Howard, George, Glenn, Lloyd and Clay Hinkle; sister Florence Coleman; many nieces, nephews, friends and family. Visitation was held Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at the O. R. Woodyard Co. Chapel. Wesley Richard “Babe” Yates, 83, of Milton, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 11, 2000, at his home, “The Barn,” after a five month illness. Richard was born June 17, 1916, in Milton, a son of the late Jacob R. and Emma White Yates. He attended Lower Creek United Methodist Church, Milton and retired from McLouth Steel, Trenton, Mich., in 1979 with 29 years of service. Richard was a life member of Hiram Lodge 110 F & AM, Flat Rock, Mich., and a 15 year member of the Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society. Virginia Dietz DuFour Pauley, 87, of Scott Depot died May 8, 2000, in Teays Valley Nursing Center after a long illness.
She was a former C&P Telephone operator, a member of New Hope Baptist Church, St. Albans, and mission interpreter for the West Virginia Baptist Convention. She served as youth leader, Sunday school teacher and choir member at churches where her husband served. She was a recipient of the Apollo Award from Alderson Broaddus College.

He was a retired construction supervisor for Union Carbide with 26 years’ service. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 170, Nitro, and Pleasant View Church of God. He was a lifelong resident of Hurricane and a Navy veteran of World War II.

William K. Davis
William K. “Bill” Davis, 38, of Marietta, formerly of Bridgeport, died May 12, 2000, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky of carbon monoxide poisoning.
He was a former commissioner of Corrections for the state of West Virginia and a graduate of Bridgeport High School and Fairmont State College. He was a military policeman in the Army Reserves.
Surviving: daughter, April E. Davis of Winfield; son, J. Matthew Davis of Winfield; brother, Robert Davis of Jacksonville, Florida; maternal grandmother, Thelma Collins of Jacksonville.

Gregory D. Brown
Gregory Dale Brown, 36, of Winfield died April 30, 2000, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, of injuries received in an automobile accident in Grayson, Kentucky.
He was an employee of Mattress Warehouse and was born in Louisville, Kentucky.
Surviving: wife, Jacki D. Brown of Ona; son, Gregory Dakota “Cody” Brown at home; stepdaughter, Kara Williams of Ona; parents, Barbara and Don Brown of Louisville; sister, Kim Knopf of Charleston and Shannon Brown of Louisville; brothers, Keenan Brown and Jerry Brown, both of Louisville.
Mass of Christian burial was held May 3, 2000 at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. Dean G. Borgmeyer officiating. Burial was in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Louisville. Additional service was held May 4, 2000 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Louisville, with Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, Louisville, in charge of arrangements. Betty Jo Wolfe
Betty Jo Hill Wolfe, 69, of Eleanor died April 30, 2000, at home after a long illness.
She was a graduate of Buffalo High School and was a retired school secretary for Buffalo Elementary and George Washington Middle School with 21 years’ service. She was past president of the Putnam County Service Personnel Association and a crafter, who sold her work through various area outlets.
Surviving: daughters, Cynthia Wolfe O’Neill of Bloomington, Indiana and Cathy Turnbull of Houston; granddaughter, Aoife O’Neill of Bloomington.
