John Mark Honaker, 83, of Milton passed away Monday, May 1, 2000, in Columbia Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Minister Bud Lucas officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born January 31, 1917, in Cabell Co., W.Va., a son of the late William Amos and Josephene Cinderella (Burns) Honaker. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Allen Cotler. He was a retired electrical lineman for R.H. Bouligny, Charleston. He was a member of IBEW Local 317, Huntington. He was a member of the Milton Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Esther Nicholas Honaker; three sons and daughters-in-law, Toney and Patty Honaker of Milton, David Mark and Rosemary Honaker of Millville, N.J., and Gregory Pat and Bonnie Honaker of Millville, N.J.; a daughter, Sharon Cotler of Millville, N.J.; two brothers, Winfred Honaker of Millville, N.J., and James Ernest Honaker of Culloden; one sister, Frances Nutter of Culloden; ten grandchildren, David Honaker, Jr., Darren Honaker, Jason Honaker, Mark Cotler, Sheila Adams, Shelly Cotler, Jessica Honaker, Joshua Honaker, James Williamson, and Aaron Honaker, five great grandchildren, Matthew Honaker, Freddie Adams, Devyn Adams, Hunter Adams, and Breeann Williamson.

Violet Roberts, 80, of Milton, widow of Charles L Roberts, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Chapman and Brenda Carter, both of Ona; two sons, Charles “Cobb” Roberts of Milton and Jimmy Roberts of Higginsport, Ohio; two half sisters, Arnie Maxine Cooper and Virginia Wiggins, both of Massillon, Ohio; and three half brothers, Kenneth Adkins of Battle Creek Mich, Howard Cummings of Huntington and Bill Cummings of Milton. Woodrow Pershing Johnson
Woodrow Pershing Johnson, 80, of Barboursville, passed away Monday, May 1, 2000, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Harry Moore and Rev. Darrell Chapman. Burial in Enon Cemetery. He was born June 11, 1919, in Cabell County, a son of the late Nando and Zona Perry Johnson. He was retired from the Cabell County Board of Education and was a long time member of Enon Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Eastern Theater Operation, the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Charlene Wallace and two brothers, Harold and Robert Johnson. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Irene Sowards Johnson; one daughter, Phyllis Argabrite and her husband Wendell of Huntington; two sons, Kenneth Johnson and his wife Kay of Fort Worth, Texas, Gracin Johnson and his girlfriend Pat Childers of Barboursville; three brothers, Brent Johnson and Nando Johnson, Jr., both of Milton, Ray Johnson of Salt Rock; and a special grandchild, Nanette Argabrite and her husband Darren Queen.

Carol Virginia Henson of Hurricane, formerly of Huntington, died April 24, 2000, at home.
She was a homemaker.

William J. Tuemler
William J. “Bill” Tuemler, 88, of Scott Depot died April 24, 2000, in Putnam General Hospital after a long illness.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver. He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, St. Albans.
Surviving: son, Henry J. of Sharonville, Ohio, Ernest G. of Kingsport, Tennessee, Robert F. of Kingsmill, Ohio, Paul E. of Teays Valley, and James A. of Scottsdale, Arizona; sister, Estelle Damgard of Sarasota, Florida; brothers, Paul and Norb, both of Covington, Kentucky, and Pat of Louisville, Kentucky; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.
Service was held April 26, 2000 at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. Bruce Young officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Ruth Y. Booth
Ruth Y. Booth, 93, of Poca died April 24, 2000, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was a 1927 co-valedictorian graduate of Buffalo Academy, Buffalo, attended New River State College, Montgomery, and was a 1961 honors graduate of West Virginia State College. She taught school for 20 years at Center Point, Poindexter, Pleasant Grove and Lett Creek. She taught for 16 years at Rock Branch Elementary School and was a member of New Bethel Church of Christ, Buffalo, for more than 70 years.
Surviving: daughters, Jewell H. Meadows of Nitro, Betty L. Booth of Cross Lanes and Ruth Ellen McKean of Hurricane; sons, Charles Donald Booth of Parrish, Florida and Thomas P. Booth of Black Betsy; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Service was held April 28, 2000 at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. James B. Legg officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House.
Daisy Mae Crumley
Daisy Mae Crumley, 77, of Poca died April 26, 2000, in Teays Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hurricane.
She was a 37-year resident of Poca and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Teays Valley.

She was a lifelong resident of Hurricane, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Hurricane.

Miza Alice Bailey Harrison, 87, of Grant, Florida, formerly of Liberty, Putnam County, died April 23, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Faye Pettingill of Grant, after a long illness.
She was a former employee of Fletcher Enamel Co., Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co., Strob Manufacturing Co. and Opal’s Restaurant, Eleanor.
Also surviving: sons, Earl Lee Harrison of Kenna, Norman Ray “Jack” Harrison and Shelby Lorn Harrison, both of Liberty; brothers, Glenville Ray Bailey of Melbourne and Franklin Bailey of Liberty; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Park J. Wallace, 92, of Kenna, formerly of Buffalo, died April 26, 2000, in Arthur B. Hodges Center, Charleston, after a short illness.
He was a retired farmer, former operator of Coonskin Stables, Charleston, a member of the West Virginia Miniature Horse Club and a life member of the Kanawha Valley Horseman’s Association.
Surviving: daughters, Garnette Jordan of Jacksonville, Florida, Marilyn McCubbin of Kenna and Brenda Wolfe of Elkview; son, Peter Wallace of Elkview; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Thurman Chandler
Thurman Chandler, 98, of Scott Depot, formerly of South Charleston, died April 30, 2000, in Scott Depot after a short illness.
He was a retir3ed operator for DuPont with 31 years’ service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of South Charleston and Charleston Masonic Lodge 168. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Beni Kedem Shrine Temple. He was born in Brounland and lived most of his life in the Kanawha Valley.
Surviving: wife, Velva Withrow Chandler; sisters, Sybil Matthews and Ruth Mae Bryant, both of Huntington; grandchildren, Cindy Steorts, Robin Young and Tracy Bess; five great-grandchildren.
Service was held May 2, 2000 at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. Burial with Masonic graveside rites was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
James L. Tucker
James Leslie Tucker, 59, of Hurricane died April 30, 2000, at home after a long illness.
He was a member of Adda Baptist Church, Hurricane, and an employee of Sleepy Hollow Golf Club, Hurricane, with 32 years’ service.
Surviving: companion, Kathryn Duncan Tucker; sons, Richard and Robert, both of Hurricane, and Randall of Culloden; daughter, Rena Miller of Milton; stepmother, Wilma Tucker of Hurricane; sisters, Mae Chase, Faye Meeks and Sheila Stewart, all of Hurricane; brothers, Samuel, Hubert, William, Steve and Wayne, all of Hurricane; eight grandchildren.
A memorial service was held May 2, 2000 at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with the Rev. Tim Gilfilen and the Rev. Bill Blackshire officiating. Burial was in Peach Ridge Cemetery, Hurricane.
